Afternoon tea was amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was so nice and clearly homemade. The scones are the best I have ever tasted! A lovely Sunday afternoon treat. — with Hans Adcock.

Our afternoon was served like this (some sandwiches eaten at this point but in terms of presentation and the amount we received, not a tea pot in sight! Served in jugs and put in a back room that was cold and dark, absolutely appalling from start to finish, this was was my hen do day time activity completely ruined!

Stay well away. Very over priced for the quality you receive, staff very unhelpful, paid for the morning breakfast which we wasn't able to have due to the kitchen being out of action and yet offered no refund. I would say that if your at the download fest I may just be worth it as it only JUST beats sleeping in a tent but defiantly not worth the money. Avoid like the plague or risk catching it.

Just got back, from another 2 night break. Absolutely love this place, we got upgraded to a suite for free, the reception staff couldn’t do enough to help, ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was beautiful. Had breakfast on both days, there was always plenty of selection.
I’m not going to lie, the rooms are a little dated, but the receptionist advised that they are upgrading the rooms, but we didn’t have one, as we wanted the extra room of a suite.
There is a fusty smell in the main corridor outside the bedroom, but the smell didn’t linger inside the room.
Me and my husband have been coming here usually once or twice a year for the last 13 years, and unfortunately it has deteriorated over that time, but repairs and refurbishments are happening. And we will continue to return as this is where me and my husband first met.

There was not one thing I liked about this so called hotel it was filthy dirty and smelly. On arrival checking in we where giving room 26 it was freezing cold dirty and smelly carpets were moldy and room was not up to standard. Complained to the receptionist and the chef was sent up to fix the heating /rad with a pliers he couldn’t fix it so told us while laughing he would get a electric plug in rad sent up to our room. Then we where showed another room that was practically in out house which was dirty and cold. Then we were put in a room that was refurbished but room was still not up to standard was dirty shower was Broken toiled wasn’t clean under seat or in the bowl. Didn’t have breakfast due to hotel being so dirty! Ended up with bed bug bites also did my partner! Also I will be looking for a full refund as this was booked for my partners birthday and we travels from Dublin Ireland and our weekend was ruined!

Having lodged a complaint with the hotel and made several calls to discuss the elusive manager still has not acknowledged my concerns. This place takes your booking, promises upgrade and superior room and then you get put in a seriously dilapidated room. Very poor, facilities and service.

Visited for an afternoon tea. Very nicely presented. Food very fresh, plenty of flavours & good mixture of fillings inside. Great cake selections, topped by scones, jam & cream. All in all, would o again & highly recommend.

After getting married here in September 2015, I have been back several times and always had a positive experience. The food is amazing and the service is fantastic. Would recommend for weddings, afternoon tea or for somewhere to have a meal.

We went for a Champagne breakfast which was purchased as a gift. What a wonderful time! Lovely food, fabulous staff and a lovely idea.

I booked a table for my mums surprise 50th birthday, we chose to have the champagne breakfast. Due to the size of the party the lady taking the booking said we would have a private room. On arrival we were shown into the room which was set out for breakfast lovely, I was able to put decorations on the table and big number balloons around. Suzie was our host and I cannot thank or praise her enough, she did absolutely everything you could possibly want from a host and she made …our experience the best! She even gave my 3 years old special attention bringing him cereal, yogurt and strawberries (all of which were complimentary) We had a constant supply of hot and cold drinks & the 3 course breakfast was tasty, hot and plentiful! One special note to mention is that we had a vegan in our party & they went above and beyond to make sure her breakfast wasn’t just the usual boring vegan meal. So much so the chef was asked for his vegan pancake recipe so she could make them at home! All in all I am so happy we chose Donington Manor hotel as the service we received was impeccable! We had such a fantastic morning and that’s all thanks you you Suzie! We shall all be returning again!

I have never seen such a dirty run down hotel. The rooms were filthy. After attending an event there and drinking, we were effectively stuck there. This place should be on the Hotel Inspector and the owners should be ashamed of themselves for having the audacity to call this a 3 star hotel.

Decent hotel, git a good deal on the price. Sheets were clean, but the room seriously needed a good dusting. Cobwebs cane free with the room. They tried to charge me again on checkout, that doesent show good management. Saying that I would recommend it as it was genuinely an ok stay.

Room was great. Hotel Wi-Fi didn't work at all. Food was adequate.

Avoid avoid avoid. Dirty dated rooms. No towels, when we did get towels there were never changed. Dirty cups again not changed no spoons. Uncomfortable ripped bed. Worse part is the rude staff lady called Margaret. Refused to even listen about our complaint "I don't care about that at the moment " refused to let us talk to a manager. After minutes of insisting we where able to speak to a manger who was very helpful but damage is done we won't return and will advise everyone not to go.

Wasn't the cleanest and our room smelt damp and musty, but that is almost expected of such an old property (though it won't live much longer if they don't at least try to fix the damp). Shower was set too far back and you practically had to stand on the taps to get under the spray which had the pressure of a leaking faucet. Our room also gained a number of new inhabitants on the third night as one of the many spider had babies on our bathroom ceiling. Main issue was the service, though staff were all friendly, due to an error checking us in they somehow had no record of us having already paid for our £500 pound room over 6 weeks previous to our arrival and were made to wait around with several others in the same predicament for over an hour as their IT system failed. Not their fault but as we were staying for Download Festival we'd really rather camp next year, far less hassle.

Yes the hotel is a little tired as other reviews say but we loved the place. The staff were really good with us, joined in and really made us feel welcome. Food was great, good sized portions and really tasty. Drinks spot on. For me the staff make the hotel. We both intend to return next year.

The room was ok. Bed was warm and cosy. Food was good. Unfortunately the maintenance is a little lacking. 3 wall lights needed bulbs and one of the wall sockets didn't work. Note apollogisia for water problems with shower, a bigger problem was the shower head falling out of wall bracket several times during use, making showering painful if hit with shower head and impossible to was my waist length hair. Another issue was the noise level from bar area directly below my room, very loud until midnight, I'd been up since 5am and had an early start the following day.

Great Sunday roast and excellent value for money. This place is a hidden gem… just needs the decor and ambience to match the quality of the food and service. Then it would be 5 star!

The room had so many items broken or not working, there was an awful noise, sounded like a heating boiler it was so noisy that was unable to get any sleep. Did go down to reception to inform them. Nothing done, for the price they charge I was really not impressed spout the weekend. Will not be going back.

One of the best afternoon teas around. Beautiful decor, Cakes gorgeous! however, sandwich choice slightly limited.

Although slightly dated, the hotel is very nice, the food is lovely and the staff make the experience.

All the staff we a good laugh and we even got a little midnight cheese toastie.

Booked to stay here with family, following a family wedding in the area, booked for 4 people, rooms were only reserved for one person in each of the two rooms booked, we were asked to pay an extra £10 per room for the extra person, even though the names were correct on booking form. When we got to our rooms, the double room had broken or damaged furniture and there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and the curtain pelmet was covered in dust, the bath side panel was broken also. In the twin room the curtain pelmet was also covered in dust and the curtains were ripped. Breakfast although the full English was served hot and was very nice, the service was slow, the milk was never re-filled despite being asked for. The decor inside and outside looked like it could do with a good refurbishment. We will not be staying again and would not recommend this hotel.

Popped in for a beer, lovely place lady behind the bar was very professional and polite.

Building is interestingly old — but needs simple renovations. Bedroom size and shape was great — but needs simple repairs and a good clean. The mattress has lost its firmness in the centre and needs replacing. Good breakfast — but from our table we could see into the service corridor to the kitchen. Plaster was hanging from the ceiling and didn't look nice. There was an overall faint smell of damp. Loose door handles, broken window locks and everywhere needs painting and cleaning. Nothing drastic just extra care and it would be the special hotel it could be.

Good little B&B, especially if you want to bring your dog! Rooms are a bit outdated and tired looking, vegan options at breakfast were almost none but yeah who can complain?

Conference event. Decor was tired and the staff seemed miserable with the exception of one man who seemed like a manager. Smiles cost nothing and would have made a world of difference, as it was I felt more a burden than a guest.

Absolutely fantastic! I got married on Sunday and they made our day perfect! The venue was gorgeous, the staff were amazing, kind, funny and very welcoming! The room looked gorgeous and our bridal suite was beautiful! They couldn't have done any more, Martina was fantastic she catered to our every need and we couldn't have wished for a better venue to get married at and party! All of the staff were fantastic and I would highly recommend this amazing venue, it is perfect and we can't thank them enough! Thank you Donington Manor! Sophie and Matt Wrigley.

A lovely place to go. Excellent customer service but the only issue I could find for an event only having 2 on the bar at all times.

Good traditional English hotel. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Restaurant excellent, for breakfast and evening meals.

Wonderful hotel unlike the sanitised chains you get everywhere else at airports. Loads of nice pubs & restaurants within walking distance as well.

We went as part of an easter day lunch time meal. It was a family party ranging in ages 1 to 85. We had to wait a long time to be seated and then to be called up to the carvery. Although the lunch was advertised to attract children there was no specific children's menu. It took 3 hours from start to finish and we only had two courses. The food was good and tasty. The whole thing was disorganised and the staff seemed to not really know what the system was. There was no disabled toilet available in the main building.

Terrible waitress service. Left dirty plates on the table when next course arrived (twice). After asking 3-times for something it was plonked rudely on the table away from us. Prawn cocktail had about 10 prawns, lots of lettuce and a small drizzle of dressing. The roasts were just a small affair that you could buy at the supermarket and you get small plates so small portions, it all feels a bit penny pinching and cutting corners with understaffing and one working the bar. Prices weren't penny pinching though so we'll vote with our feet and go to the better value Castle Inn opposite next time.

I was stopping over as I was working near the hotel. I loved the place from the moment I walked in and was even more suprised when I was given a room as big as a flat. All the staff were on point and friendly. I will be stopping here anytime I'm working in the area now.

Myself and a friend enjoyed a lovely Afternoon Tea here. It was excellent and there are many different varieties of tea to choose from. The staff are so friendly. Will definitely revisit.

Very rustic place, generally very clean. Staff are polite. TV system could do with modernising.

Had our Christmas party there. Very accommodating. A great night!

Really good value hotel close to Donington Park circuit and the airport. A warm welcome followed by a large, comfortable, clean room with good sized en suite bathroom. Cosy bar area serving drinks, tea and coffee and cakes. Excellent prix fixe menu and reasonable wine list, with friendly service, in a beautiful regency dining room. Breakfast next morning in the same room was also good value at £8.50 for guests, with continental buffet, plenty of coffee and hot breakfast cooked to order. Will definitely stay here again.

Had a great meal at the Manor. Service was excellent and the price wasn't to bad either, Dislikes? Not sure basil flavored ice cream will ever catch on.
