We stayed over last night, the room was spotless, the bed was big and comfortable. We ate with 4 others in the restaurant, the food was good quality, the staff were attentive and welcoming. Stirk house is a beautiful building with lovely grounds, we walked around the nature trail which was nice. The breakfast was delicious and again the staff were attentive. Definitely recommend and we will be staying again.

Where do I start… Stirk is the most stunningly beautiful wedding venue 😍 Our wedding was the best day of our lives and everyone at Stirk was faultless and couldn't do enough for us — they were out of this world from planning with Lucy and the wedding team to being with Dave and the wonderful Danielle on the day we couldn't have asked for anything more! Our guests where blown away by the sheer beauty and stunning views Stirk had to offer it truly was a real life fairy tale! We booked our wedding back in 2018 for 2020. With covid we have had 3 dates in total and talking to other covid brides I heard horror stories of how they was being treated by there venue but all the stirk house team was nothing but AMAZING! They was always in contact and always so calming and said that we would get our special day and boy did we! We finally tied the knot in September 2022 and it really was the perfect day and I know this is because of the stirk house team! Thank you to the wedding team from the moment we booked right up until the day you made planning a wedding fun and so easy! Thank you to the chefs the food was delicious and everyone was saying how good and hot it was on the day! The bar staff! Our guests certainly kept you busy that night but you was always smiling and was quick and just brilliant! And Dave! You really are a special person and you made our day so fun and memorable! And even to the grounds people. Wow! All outside was just perfect and like something out of a film! All our guests couldn’t get over how beautiful the setting was outside! So if you are looking for a venue for any special occasions then all I am going to say is Bob in and see it for yourself because you will see just how amazing everything is! We got married in April and we couldn't recommend Stirk House enough. The venue is absolutely beautiful and the staff, well you couldn't wish for better. We had the upset of 2 years worth of cancellations due to covid, but our wedding coordinator Danielle helped us rearrange our dates with no stress. We had the most perfect and magical wedding at Stirk House yesterday! A stunning venue with beautiful ceremony and reception rooms, fabulous bridal suite and exceptional grounds, outdoor patios and views. The staff are all, without exception, fantastic. Nothing is too much bother for any of them. They are all friendly and helpful and made every guest feel welcome. Despite a massive power outage, the staff made sure the day was seamless. The food was fabulous and the alcohol was flowing even though everyone was slowly melting in the heat! The legend of an MC, Dave, was fantastic and will make anybody’s wedding a day to remember! Any brides out there looking for a stunning country wedding venue, I would recommend a trip to Stirk House. You won’t be disappointed!

Myself and my partner came here on the 20th May 2022 for a meal for our 10th anniversary and couldn’t not be more impressed. The food was delicious and arrived quickly after ordering. Daniel was our waiter for the evening. We were very impressed by his professionalism and impeccable service. We had a fantastic chat with him and Liz the restaurant manager. Both are a credit to the establishment. Beautiful venue with such lovely staff. Thank you to Liz and Daniel for making our anniversary so much more special! 🥂

Where do I start! I had my wedding here on Sunday 3rd April and from the moment myself and my bridal party arrived on the Saturday afternoon we where treated like royalty. The venue speaks for itself, absolutely stunning! The staff where all kind, attentive, professional and made me feel so welcome and at ease. Dave must do so many weddings on a weekly basis but I was still made to feel like the most special person in the world on the day, he is truly amazing. I can't thank the staff enough for making my (rescheduled) day the most amazing and magical day I could have ever hoped and dreamed of. Thank you all so much it is a day that will never be forgotten ❤

Had our wedding here on the 11.03.2022 finally after two previous dates due to covid. I can’t thank the wedding team enough for all their help and customer service Throughout the pandemic they couldn’t do enough to sort us new dates out and nothing was ever to much trouble to ask. The actually day was seamless and just so perfect! I can’t believe it’s been nearly a week! Everyone commented on how beautiful the venue was, their rooms and the breakfast 🤣. They made me feel so special on my big day and I wish I could re live it all again as it’s true what they say, it really does go so fast!

Lovely romantic break. Room is awesome and the staff are amazingly friendly and the Chefs are so skilled! the food is awesome! The waiter is lovely and really makes you feel appreciated and his attention to detail and the way he makes you feel like royalty is something I have never experienced in any restaurant. We got married at Stirk House last month and cannot recommend it enough. From the organising to the big day, all the staff were amazing, especially throughout Covid, no question we had was unanswered and they were so supportive throughout the date changes. The venue itself is just stunning! Big shout out to Dave, what a guy! All the bar staff on the night were just incredible. It was better than I ever could of imagined!

Well what can I say? We had our wedding here on 23/09/21 and were absolutely blown away with it. The venue was absolutely stunning and the staff could not do enough for you — even allowing us to have a helicopter land in the grounds!
The star of the show has to be the master of ceremonies — Dave! He made sure the day flowed perfectly and that our every need was attended to.
If anyone was thinking of having their special day here then without hesitation I would say do it! You definitely won’t regret it!

We got married at Stirk House 3rd July 2021 and we honestly had the best day! The venue alone is absolutely beautiful, it speaks for itself but the staff are amazing! Both Danielle and Lucy are so so good at their jobs, they’re really helpful and make your day perfect and run smoothly. Dave is also the best master of ceremonies around! He’s so funny and relaxed and engages with everyone!

Myself and my partner have just returned from two nights at stirk house and I can’t recommend it enough for it’s service and the food. The food was delicious and service was out of this world. Harriet and Dave in particular were lovely and so very accommodating and huge compliments to the chef too as the food was so tasty. We’ll be recommending this place to all our family and friends.

We visited Stirk House on Saturday for a walk around the grounds and nature trail and a bite to eat. Beautiful! The fish and chips was phenomenal — best I’ve ever had. Kids loved their pizza. The team were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Definitely worth a visit if you can.

Wonderful day exploring the estate today. The hotel grounds look more stunning than ever, we felt safe and very welcomed by Helen and Danielle and the rest of the team. We can't wait to get married there next year x x x.

Had Christmas dinner here for Christmas Day, from start to finish it was truly magical. The staff were very attentive, the pre drink, canopies were to die for. Then went in the room it was stunning the deco was lovely. The food was amazing, Will defiantly be returning next year. I Would like to thank all the staff who worked Christmas Day you were all amazing thank you for making our Christmas Day so special.

Nice old manor hotel in picturesque surroundings, fantastic food. Cracking place.

I and a party of 30 went to a Christmas part night. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the food let it down badly. I am a vegan and ordered soup and a Christmas dinner. What I got was a strange started which seamed you be made from pearl barley, although it was very nice it wasn’t what I ordered and was told there was a mix up in the kitchen and this was what they had made for me. Next came my Christmas Dinner I only wish I had racked a photo, this was laughable. Two big lumps of the blandest nut roast o have ever tasted, one carrot slice one parsnip slice and one slice of courgette. The girl serving was very helpful and took it back to change for a completely different dish which again was very nice but not what I ordered. There were also other issues regarding my groups food. Some had pigs in blankets and stuffing some didn’t which again the girl was very helpful and apologetic and brought some out for them. We received a couple of bottles of wine for table by way of an apology. Sorry to have to write this as the staff were amazing.

Had a wonderful stay at the Stirk house last night after day and night celebrations at a wedding, booked a suite for 3, which was so spacious. Beds were so comfy and the staff friendly and accommodating. 10 out of 10 xx.

We have just visited Stirk house for the very first time over the weekend for our first wedding anniversary. What a beautiful place! All staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful and we had a meal in the restaurant — probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had!

Wow what an amazing Hotel, We got married here on the 16th June this year and from our first visit to the checking out the day after our wedding the staff were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and all of guests felt they had received excellent service.

As always-great food-comfy rooms-attentive polite staff. Awesome view from the annex bedrooms-walk around the grounds takes about 30-40 mins-and is a delight.

My husband and I stayed for valentines, the room was lovely, it was a standard double that was very big with a huge comfy bed and essential bath. The bar with real fire was lovely and the breakfast was very good. We would definitely return and recommend. The location is also very scenic.

I can honestly say it was a great wonderful experience. We met the owner personally, he was incredibly hands on, and extremely nice and friendly along side lovely staff. The food was superb and the House itself and the grounds are beautiful. I would highly recommend Shaz.

Amazing venue and incredible team. From the moment of booking our wedding every member of the events team were incredibly helpful, put us at ease and extremely accommodating — nothing was too much trouble for them. The day ran amazingly and that was thanks to each and every staff member, all so professional and eager to help. As with all the reviews a massive thank you needs to be given to Dave, he really is a master at what he does. He makes you and your guests feel so welcome and special, catering to your every need. He is a massive credit to stirk house and clearly the reason for so many glowing reviews from others on their wedding day!
If your thinking of viewing or booking I’d highly recommend it, the venue is beautifully decorated and value for money is an understatement for what every member of the team offer.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. My room was unusable. (There was a leak from the waste pipe on the toilet which was left for me to find at check in. ) The service I received the this was appalling. (I sat waiting in my room for 45 minutes waiting to hear what was happening. When I went back to reception, the receptionist said ' I have been ringing your room and you didn't answer'. There was no thought that maybe the room phone want working or to try contacting me on my mobile number that was taken at reception. ) As a result of this I missed the speeches at the wedding I was attending and ate my 'warmed up' meal after the rest of my family and other wedding guest. Completely ruined the wedding day for me.

Four of us came in for afternoon tea on a Sunday, and it was very quiet. The food and service were great with attentive staff members ensuring our drinks were topped up and that all was well. The food for the afternoon tea was well made and prepared, with plenty provided. The cakes and scones were delicious and definitely better than other places we have been to. It's only minor, but the tea pot we were served tea in was chipped, a tiny issue which nevertheless showed a lack of attention to detail. Additionally the table still had it's unlit candle centrepiece, which got in the way of the stands when the waiter came to place them in the table. Finally for the little niggles, the music was a little too loud. In short: delicious food, good service, but a lack of attention to the smaller details.

A hidden gem which serves good quality home-made food in sumptuous surroundings. Visited again today with friends on our recommendation. The food was once again good and we asked for extra gravy to go with our steak pies. Oh disappointment as we were charged £1.50 for not much more than an egg cup full. Have never never experienced this before anywhere! We commented on this when paying our bill to be informed, very dismissively, that our comment would be passed on. Such a shame as we had been discussing returning for a stay at the hotel in the near future.

Great location for a wedding venue with views of the surrounding countryside. Bar was reasonably priced and had a large gin selection and local ales on cask. Stayed overnight in a manor room which was spacious with a large bed and bathroom. Breakfast selection was good and the full English was delicious. Brilliant service overall.

Attended a wedding reception at Stirk House, food and service were great and the venue and grounds are an excellent location for a private function. Accommodation was comfortable and close to the main venue. Bar prices were reasonable for the type of venue.

Excellent hotel.! We stayed over for our friends wedding. The day and night was absolutely superb. The event was organised from start to finish brilliantly. The rooms are spacious, warm and very comfortable. The food is very nice and the venue is simply stunning with great picturesque surroundings. Food in the evening unbelievably good! Presentation. Staff, taste could not fault. Breakfast though not so good, shame if your staying as dinner raises your expectation. Well worth a visit for that special occasion meal.

Attended a wedding. Fabulous event, great food good service and excellent attention to detail. MC was a little loud but very efficient.

A tranqil setting for a perfect relaxing visit. Have been many times and love it there. The meals are always varied, well-presented, sufficient and excellently cooked. Breakfast is traditionally super. Everything is on offer, from locally sourced meats to fresh fruit salad and juices. My only complaint is the awfully weak coffee at breakfast. And it's been like that for my last 3 visits. Service can be quite slow too. Altogether a great stay.

Very pretty. Driving up. Lovely inside, bit quiet Restaurant inviting, warm, cozy. Starter really good. Main course, not so much. I had duck — bit chewy, very little veg… a bit of rosti potato hard in the middle. No one asked if it was ok until we'd finished.

Restaurant was wonderful. We actually stayed in two different rooms. The first was lovely, the second left a lot to be desired. We also had a cleaner banging on the door an hour before check out, if we hadn't wanted breakfast we could have still been asleep at that time on a Sunday. Waiting staff were helpful and friendly in the restaurant although on the first night we waited so long to ask for our bill (before they had cleared out dessert plates or offered coffee) that we just left and went back to our room and they charged us at check out. Did not have the same issue on the Saturday, the restaurant was busier and there were more staff despite there being an event on at the bar/lounge area. Would stay again if they could guarantee our room number, would not pay to stay in the room we were given on the second night. Breakfast was good quality and a good variety of hot options, made to order.

4 Days ago Historic building in beautiful countryside has numerous bars ideal for weddings meal was fantastic staff excellent old style open log fire. Bar prices or not cheap but the atmosphere of the place makes them worth the price. It a fair distance to nearest small Village so Ideally you need a car as it's nearly a mile to nearest road from hotel.

The food here is AMAZING. Quality drinks and excellent selections of whisky too. Can't fault the place. Such a nice setting and it is recently refurbished. We will be back for a quiet midweek drink soon.

Recently attended a wedding here and stopped over in the Liddon Suite. Beautiful house in picturesque setting. The food was phenomenal and staff were great.

I don't typically put fingers to keyboard to write a review (if ever! ), but on this occasion I feel I must. Having been staying at the Stirk House on and off for over five years now, it has always been my go-to hotel when in the area; the open fire in the lounge, the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff has always made it feel like a home from home. Having recently become a vegan, however, I approached my most recent visit with some trepidation as, although there were always superb vegetarian options on the menu, I didn't recall anything vegan. I needn't have worried; on my first night I noticed a new main option on the menu — a lightly curried spinach and pea burger with sweet potato wedges — which was dutifully ordered, and very delicous it was too. The best was yet to come. Having asked if I could veganise one of the starters as well (which the chef was more than happy to do), at the end of the meal, he came out and asked if, were I to be eating at the hotel again the following night, I would be happy for them to create a completely vegan 3-course meal from scratch. I was completely bowled over by this level of attentiveness and service, and replied that yes, that would be amazing. What followed the next night was one of the best meals I have ever eaten, vegan or otherwise. So to Steven and Matt, and the whole team at the Stirk House, thank-you. I have always recommended you to all and sundry, but now I have even more reason to do so.

Well what to say without running out of space of things to write! Stirk house is such a truly stunning venue. We booked our wedding only 6 months ago and got married yesterday. The day was perfect. From bookimg to planning to the day ran as smoothly as ever. Danielle is a lovely person that made our day come together. I was greeted by her the day of our wedding to where she helped taking things to our room to help catch up on time and stop me flapping. That day when I arrived I was first introduced to Dave and straight away I felt calmer. He couldnt do enough for us. He is the best at his job we cant praise him enough, he really made our day. The day ran as smoothly as ever. The food was scrummy both on the day of the wedding and the morning after, and the bridle suite was so beautiful and clean! Thankyou so so much for our day. We just wish we could do it all over again without changing anything.

Just stopped for a coffee. All staff we met friendly and efficient. Coffee good.

2 night stay for a wedding, atmosphere very good, food very good and generous portions. Granddaughter used the leisure club facilities and said they were very good. In a lovely setting in the Ribble Valley and only a short journey to the market town of Clitheroe in the shadow of Pendle Hill, famous for its witches who were hung in 1612 after a trial at Lancaster Castle. For walkers there's a trail to follow over the moors through the Trough of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Great service, my room was warm and they gave me an electric fan. Staff friendly and approachable. Great beds.

We went to my other halves brother's wedding. The location is great, and the views were amazing for photos outside even in some rain. They also had space for a bouncy castle for the kids. Inside was beautiful, with a a pleasant service and some great side rooms where you could go and relax in or socialise. The staff were good and helpful, and the main organiser was very friendly. I wish I lived closer so I could go to more events there.

I would again just like to say a huge thank Kevin and his team for everything they did for our wedding on 5th August. A special thank you to Kevin, Dave, Danielle & Lucy I really can't thank you all enough the day wouldn't of gone as smoothly as it did if it wasn't for you all. Since booking the venue back in 2015 with Kevin you made us feel so welcomed and I knew straight away that Stirk house was where our dream wedding would take place. I really cannot recommend Stirk house enough not only is it a beautiful venue the staff are amazing and the food is delicious. As a bride I knew I was in good hands and felt completely at ease as the team couldn't be anymore helpful. Absolutely stunning building. Got the double room for £100 for a friends wedding. Room was pretty basic for the money though. Quite pricey for drinks though. Dark fruits and a J2o £6.80 and a pint of Carling and a Dark Fruits was £8.40… breakfast was small but enough. Would imagine I will go again someday for another wedding.

The Stirk House is set back in a lovely location with friendly staff who are always helpful. The food is to high standard, would recommend the Spa however some updating is needed around the Pool.

The building and grounds are lovely, and the staff all seemed very nice. The food we had was good, but the drinks prices seemed to be arbitrary; we got the same round of drinks three times for three different prices. Would keep an eye out for excessive charges.

The location of this hotel is stunning. It has well kept grounds with stunning Pennine views as a backdrop. Inside the hotel is clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bar prices are good for a hotel of this standard. Finally, the food is superb.

Excellent. Lovely room, fantastic restaurant and bar, pleasant grounds. Spa could do with a refresh and a few more facilities (such as a jacuzzi). Slight mix up with the bill, but all handled professionally and without any fuss.

Room was a bit small, and a bit expensive but the building itself is lovely, food was alright but what good is a christmas dinner with one lonely carrot. Overall quality of the place was high, would go again but there would have to be a deal on.

Enjoyed a "Winter Warmer", break with my wife and family dog. Lots of improvements in the fabric of the hotel since our last visit which has greatly improved the pleasure of staying in this lovely part of the country. Good food, the best Beds in the World and friendly well trained staff.
