Stayed here for two nights for a music festival in a mixed dorm room. Staff on reception wasn't very friendly. Had to pay a deposit for sheets etc. Selected our beds that were free in the dorm room and set up the beds. We then had to find a spare under bed locker and go back down 4 flights of stairs to tell the staff member which number locker it was so they could unlock it. Went out to the festival. Came back late at night trying not to wake others up or turn on lights. Found someone sleeping in my bed! Woke said person up who was very apologetic but explained that the bed was completely empty with no sheets etc on it. It appears as though the cleaners had cleared my bed. So now I'm left with no sheets and have to go back downstairs. I explained the issue to the security on the front desk who appeared to have no interest whatsoever and just handed me another set of sheets. Trying to make a bed in the dark without waking up the other 10 people in the room wasn't fun at all. Toilet was tiny and you could barely stand up because of the sink being in the way. Shower was out of order in our room too. So to sum up… rude staff and limited services. Wouldn't stay here again.

Six beds in a 2 meter by 3 meter room (two very small triple bunk beds). That's a space a lot smaller than what the average prisoner has. Also the bed is just a 8 cm mattress om the floor and the shower does not get warm and doesn't work properly in general.

0/5 (I would give minus 5 if possible). Worst hotel I ever visited. After looking inside the room just had to left. Would strongly recommend against it. The rooms are awful. Bathroom n shower are small and stingy. Staffs rude. In every possible way it is a complete nightmare.

If you’re looking for something cheap with a good location then this is definitely the place. It’s good for those who literally just need a place to sleep/shower as it isn’t very spacious. However, it’s really clean and electronic lockers are available to use. The hostel is really close to everything, Camden Town Station is 5 minutes away.

I always stay here when visiting london. That's probably been more than ten times over the years. It's affordable and does just fine for me as I'm not too fussy or interested in more than a clean bed to rest in, and the proximity to camden is perfect for me. That said, this place has got worse lately. They have these stuffy 8+ bed rooms that you can't breathe in at night. So many people breathing, sweating, and leaving their shoes in such a small space creates a bad smell. It used to be a great place, but now feels claustraphobic and weird. There are far better hostels out there, for the same price or even less.

Nice place for bag packers. Stayed there for 3 nights, they are good, cheap, free breakfast is included in the payment as well. Overall good experience.

Window lock broken on ground floor, the shower barely worked, sheets were stained, bed had a huge body dent in it. Not worth the cheap price.

Unfortunately apart from the price the rest was not great. First of all the staff was rude (the lady receptionist causing problems with checking out 2 of 4 guests earlier and reluctant to pay the deposit back for the room key-cards). Our room was number 10 and it was located in a corner where it was out of the CCTV reach point — the best place for some of the cleaners to spend their time on the phone online facing us each time we were coming out of our room and making us feeling uncomfortable by standing by the door. Some of the cleaners and maintenance workers walked into our room without a permission to check on a broken item, while we were resting in beds after a tiring journey; the maintenance man then said he had no tools anyway to fix it and just left. The rest is not about the place itself, but also guests: very loud, not respecting the others, talking out loud, laughing, slamming the door in the middle of the night, etc. No thanks.

Amazing experience! The staff was so polite and honest. The rooms, hallways, bathrooms, toilets … Everything was clean and well maintained. Lockers were spacious and could properly lock and provide security. The breakfast wasn't something special but it was enough to give that boost in the morning to get you up and running. Even the other people in the hostel were polite and respectful. I never thought I would be having such a good time over there! If you like having some fun there are pubs and bars nearby so the location, the cost and the overall experience are going to be ideal! PS: The 3 things I fell in love with while on my jorney were London, the hostel and with a bartender! 5 out of 5!

Avoid, except for you do not needed shower for your stay. Most of their shower is broken so that you will be not able to use hot water for your shower. The only shower which can use hot water is very dirty because all of the residents use this shower. Bed was tiny and packed in very small room. I do not want to imagine in case of fire. There is no light or power charge by bedside. Only one good point is they equipped curtains every beds. I have used this hostel in this summer, but the condition of here is getting worse, it getting more dirty and more noisy. When I came here, the common space was just a mess. There are filled by plenty of alcohol bin and garbage. I asked them to get refund because I cannot stand such a place like give us dirty cold shower in freezing winter, but they refused. However, the guy who was in charge of reception when I came here is not bad guy I think, but I don’t recommend here.

I recommend unless you like the strong smell of illegal substances you avoid this hostel at all costs. After we had paid nearly 400 pounds to stay in a private room for two nights supposedly with single beds but turned out to be bunk beds that would be suitable for a ten year old or less child and way up on the top floor with no easy access we approached the receptionist about this and he looked at myself and my partner and said this was definitely not the place for us to stay as it was a rough area and his words “drugs were accepted here “ he said we could have a full refund but to date we haven’t even received half the money back as the managing director keeps making excuses and is refusing to refund even though when we left they sold the room again. We didn’t expect much as we knew this was a hostel but we have stayed in a hostel in Cardiff and it was perfectly fine with no illegal substances present so take my advice even if your looking for cheap and cheerful avoid this place at all costs!

I booked a room with 4 people and they put me in one with 6. There is no toilet in the rooms, only shower. The bathroom is unisex and for several people to share. The shower has to need the button every 5 seconds to get water out. Breakfast is simple but cheap.

We knew we were choosing a cheaper hostel so the quality didn't shock me. The two reception staff we dealt with seemed half asleep and were really slow and fairly disinterested. The whole hostel is very cramped. Our 6 bed dorm reminded be of a 6ppl cabin on a sleeper train in Asia. Everything was clean and hostel was warm. They make you pay £1 for locker. Breakfast was today and cereal and was decent but again, not enough space for all hostel guests to enjoy it

The hostel is not very big but it is very clean. The rooms are all very small with bunk beds even by three people. There is a possibility to rent an electric safe at 1 pound per day. The staff is very friendly, friendly and one of the receptionist speaks good Italian. The breakfast included is very limited. The kitchen and the common room are small, but still comfortable. The whole thing is a pretty quiet environment. Being a hostel you have to know how to adapt to anything, such as spaces. The location of the hostel is very convenient to reach many points in the City of London because it is well connected with Metro and bus.

I booked a room for 6 to ensure we would all be together (there was 3 of us arriving together — plus the option of spare beds for friends going to same nightclub) The room was small with nowhere to sit other than the beds, 2 triple bunks plus an en suite — With lowest mattresses being on the ground, it felt a bit like a coffin when I went to bed and pulled the curtains along the bed. (No window curtains). Also I assumed we would get to use the in room lockers for storage but they didn't open for our keys (I think if u were sharing with strangers they probably would work) we had our stuff on floor and beds, I'm happy we stuck to 3 ppl-as it would've been very crowded and messy otherwise. The free breakfast was tea, coffee, chilled water, orange juice and tropical juice plus brown/white toast (with margarine, jam, peanut butter and nutella) and some cereals with milk. It is self service. There was also a fridge and microwave to use in the communal kitchen. Looked like a nice garden to sit outside the kitchen too. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was only £4pp for late checkout (1pm instead of 10am). £10pp deposit is payable for room keys on arrival-you get this back when you hand it back. Another note — no towels in room and bedsheets must be brought down to laundry when departing. I used spare bedsheets to dry myself (but I'm sure you can loan towels).

Wouldn't want to spend more than a couple nights here (it's rather cramped, I was too tall for the bed, and you have very little privacy), but for the price it's actually pretty great.

Smart Camden inn Hostel is a crowded very, very, very space resricted place. Six beds in a 3m x 2. 5m room. Two people could not get out of the bed at the same time because there is not enough space between the beds for two people to step out of the bed at the same time. And they had SIX beds in there! Immagine what could happen if there is a fire! You have to wait til the space between the beds is free before you can sort of slide out of your super small single bed, being carefull not to bump your head on the super low bed above yours. I am surprised they are legally allowed to have so many beds is such a small room! I had to see it to believe it! Showers are 0. 5m x 0. 5m. The small vent hole in the ceeling in the super smal shower room provided no ventilation. I had to leave the shower room door open to avoid passing out from lack of oxygen in there! Worst hostel I have ever been staying in! STAY AWAY From this place!

Affordable hostel, helpful staff, good location. Only complaint is the hostel doesn't do well in the summer months. Some rooms have fans and some don't, mine this time (this is my second stay), did not have a fan. Despite this fact however, I will be staying here on my every visit to London. It's still a fantastic hostel full of friendly people!

The location is great. A convenient spot for getting around and good food. The hostel itself was clean and nice and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I stayed in a 6 bed room and the room accommodations were just right. It is great that breakfast is provided, though it would also be nice if the kitchen were accessible before 7:30am for those early travel days. The price was a good deal and I would recommend it.

Not to go. Directly. When I arrived with my group of friends we had booked 6-bed dormitory, to give us the card told us that we had room 53, we entered and was a 12-bed room. Obviously we went to claim for what we had paid, and the chico moreno who is at the front desk told us that there was no room for six and we'd have to endure.
We got serious saying that nothing, that we had paid for a six and it is what we wanted. He remained with the same thing, that there was no room of 6 that we would have to stay with the 12. After insisting most at the end tells us that we could talk to the Manager tomorrow at 08: 00.
We told him it's worth, but we were not going to sit, we were going to leave the luggage in the room but we were going to look around the area to see what we found. He then told us that there was a room of 6 free but that was another group that had not yet come, and that should put this group in the twelve. I sincerely believe that another group there, just wanted to messing us.
Only by this lack of professionalism already not worth going, all this is added the dirty which is the hostel, the unfriendly that the rest of the staff, which are tiny, bath which was broken because it atascaba every few minutes, the dirty shower, etc. I could go on like this with much more, but I think that I have made it quite clear.

This hostel was really really small and tight, and the linens were just plain bad, I couldn't figure out how to get the blanket covered with linen so I just slept without it. Room was small and the beds were okay, but nothing great. We couldn't store our valuables anywhere because one of our rooms locker keys was missing and other locker was broken. The reception guy 'tried' to do something about but really couldn't and he never told us that, just kept saying it will be soon allright. Breakfast was toast and some cereal, nothing to be mentioned about and the overall experience with the staff was pretty horrible, I hope it was just this one employee or I really can't recommend this place.

The hostel is good. It's definitely one of the best places to stay in London. I was at two other hostels, and like this most. Not everything is perfect, but it's really okay. When I moved to London I more or less randomly picked this hostel, because it was within walking distance from St Pancras International, and I was arriving by Eurostar. I booked this hostel only for a few days, then changed to another hostel. But after another week I came back. I did not expect to stay at hostels very long, but as flathunting turned out to be tough business, I stayed in hostels some more weeks. I have also seen a few other hostels, but I really prefer this one. The location in Camden is very good, whatever you are up to. You can go to lots of pubs and bars etc. In Camden easily, but with the Northern line at your doorsteps you can also get everywhere else in London quickly. Moreover, beautiful Primrose Hill and massive Regent's Park are only a short walk away, as is Regent's Canal. You can also walk to Fitzrovia, Oxford St, Soho, West End, Regent's St and so on in less than half an hour. Besides the good location, the general condition of this hostel is also okay. It is a hostel, and it's not perfect. But it's kind of clean, the showers are okay and if you're lucky you can meet some nice people there as well! The breakfast is by far not the best breakfast you could get, but it's included and not too bad. Who mind's eating a toast and drinking a tea in the morning?
