When we arrived after 9pm check in was good and worked our way to our room tired and ready for a good night's sleep.
The room wasn't well signed and was on a half landing. When we did get to our room we were amazed at how small it was! Could not swing a cat in the room. The room was very tiny with 3 single beds (when I did ask for a double and single after the booking direct with the hotel) for 3 of us it was very cramped. Window didn't feel like it shut properly. The room …was clean (single bed valence had what looked like ink stains on it) but very dated decor and needs a good revamp. Bathroom was extremely small and there wasn't enough storage for your toiletry bits. The toilet was in the corner and had to manoeuvre round a sink to sit on it. The fan didn't switch off unless you turned the isolator off for it.
Bedroom, not enough storage at all. Ok for one person not 3. Tv very small (not that we used it) then the kettle was in the cupboard but cable not long enough to use it on any surface in the room so we couldn't have a hot drink. Then the water from the taps was not suitable for drinking either.
Breakfast was not included although you could purchase separately but after the experience so far we decided to go elsewhere for breakfast. After the first night we asked to be moved to a different room. I cannot fault the staff for the way they handled our move and also the handover from one shift to another was good. Glad that this made the room swap easier.
Got to the new room, which was slightly bigger with a double and single bed however… we were at the side of the hotel where the fans were working 24/7 and was very noisy when you were in bed trying to sleep. The window didn't slide properly and neither did the curtains. Thank goodness we had ear plugs!
I appreciate that a hotel is generally a place to sleep whilst on holiday but we were celebrating my son's 13th birthday with a trip to London and felt it was overshadowed by the hotel.
For the price we paid I was expecting a decent size room. But in London I guess you don't. I do expect comfort and we didn't get this at all. Made me realise that we should stick to what we know more of a Premier Inn.
The main positive for this hotel is location for visiting London, sightseeing and parking for 4 cars at £20 a day. As mentioned before the staff were friendly and did what they could. But the hotel is in serious need of renovation and decorating.
