Not the best bank holiday meal. Bad service, a long wait (for drinks AND food! ) and no real remorse. A flat ‘we are training staff’ and ‘we are busier than expected’… I would not mind if they kept us informed and didn’t just keep us waiting over an hour for our food and then not get it right.

We have had a lovely weekend in the White Hart. Top marks from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Great hotel, great service, great food, lovely room.
We would definitely recommend the stay to everyone. And the Best Bit was that it’s dog friendly so Maple loved it too.

Great food friendly atmosphere.

What an amazing experience my wife and I had today when we popped into the White Heart. We were met with a real warm welcome, asked if we wanted to eat in the cosy bar or in the restaurant, we chose the bar and had a choice of tables. We were offered the menu and chose our drinks then ordered the Sunday roast, my wife chose beef and I had roast pork. The bar was quite busy with locals and I notice dogs were welcome not always the case elsewhere.
The food arrived and you knew at once that this was going to be special and we weren’t disappointed, it was wonderful. Following this I opted a for lemon tarte with locally made ice cream… delicious.
I have no hesitation in recommending this pub/hotel as apart from the food, the restaurant and lounge areas were beautifully decorated and the host Yuri and his lovely assistant do everything possible to make your visit memorable.
We’ll be back…

Just stayed for New Year… amazing food… helpful and pleasant staff… just a few teething problems as new team on dinner service… suggest allocating waiters their own table to check and look after as thongs were missing and had 2 salt and no pepper… unfortunately found out after using both… whilst looking after us brought some things and went away and we had to ask fot things… such as last course… cheese and biscuits… but no plates or knives brought to use… manager apologised. Whom by the way was amazing doing all jobs all night… nothing too much trouble… suggest at end of night keep someone on the door as drunk locals came into dance with no wrist bands… people had paid good money to attend function and left as they took over chairs and were stumbling around… apart from that would recommend going there.

Excellent place to stay on the start of our journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Nice rooms and excellent food.

My dad & I went for a meal for father's Day, was a great meal, great staff, would be going again.

Quite pricey, but had a nice lunch and came alway full. Venue looks very stylish. Would like to return and try an evening meal.

Very nice hotel rooms very clean and tidy. Staff are very helpful. As I'm dairy intolerant didn't have to ask for milk or butter it was all laid out. Will definitely book again. Only issue no parking but car park in walking distance.

A lovely place the food was excellent the service was brilliant the room was fantastic even tho a little hot but the free water did help the breakfast was pleasing we are definitely going back for another visit.

Fantastic place to stay, my room very homely and the bed was extremely comfortable. The Wi-Fi throughout the hotel was sufficient for streaming the live football and the food and service was excellent.

Nice hotel with fantastic food. Heating was too hot despite us asking to turn it off. Slept with windows wide open! Very comfortable bed and welcoming staff. Good selection of beers and wine and a high quality breakfast. Not the cheapest stay but we've had a great time.

I stayed here with my mother and 15 yr old son. Three rooms, all were warm, clean with constant hot water unlike some places where the hot water runs out by mid morning.
The staff were friendly and helpful. It was also nice to have staff that knew the history of the hotel and town — many don't have a clue these days.
I asked for a 14:00 extension on checkout as the remembrance parade didn't step off until 14:30 and it was a cold day. Too cold to hang around for hours. The staff extended us, no
problem. Also dog friendly which is another big win for my mum.
Priced reasonably and a credit to the town.
We stayed in Mortonhamstead for the November ceremonies as my Great uncle was killed in Palastine 100 years ago this month, and he was a grocer from the building opposite which still looks exactly like the old photographs we have.
A wonderful little hotel in a wonderful town with wonderful people. We WILL be back.

We got married at the White Hart ten years ago. We chose it because from our initial contact it felt as if our wedding was the most important thing they had on! We've just been back to celebrate our 10th anniversary and can honestly say everything was perfect. We felt positively special, spoilt and relaxed from the moment we arrived. Our room was lovely and the food especially was excellent! Thank you everyone at the White Hart.

Went for Sunday lunch, friendly helpful staff. The food was good and well prepared but not amazing, none the less I would consider eating here again.

Fantastic hotel. From start to finish this hotel was lovely. The staff were really welcoming, friendly and extreamly helpful. The rooms were beautiful and well maintained and the breakfast was delicious. Thank you for making our stay fab x.

Beautiful location, lovely room overlooking the Moors. Staff were really friendly and helpful, we really appreciated the call to ask if we'd like to reserve a table for dinner when they were filling up and food was worth reserving a table for. Will definitely visit again.

Staff were really friendly, food was great, drainage on the shower however needs work to avoid flooding the bathroom which was a bit of a let down.

Excellent food, friendly staff and very comfortable rooms.

Poor service in the restaurant. Went here recently for lunch and had a very good quality meal, but the service was poor: no interest in the customer, no interaction, and only a glum look when we tried to chat. This really puts a gloomy atmosphere to the place. We wrote to the manager to point this out to her but had no reply! Very surprising. Not recommended if you want a cheerful experience.

Brilliant stay at the white heart took our dog the staff so friendly they even gave the dog some breakfast in the form of a sausage which he wolfed down food was top notch lovely area in Dartmoor nice field to walk your dog 2 mins away through the church yard great for dog lovers it's a win win.

Can't fault this place. Really friendly staff, superb food, comfy bed, great wine list, log fire… even allowed to take the dog! Just gorgeous, you won't be disappointed.

This is a lovely pub / restaurant and hotel situated in the lovely Dartmoor National Park. They have great food and a very friendly environment. There is a pub section which is cosy with a log fire and comfy tables, two more formal dining rooms if you want something special and even a small outside section for those warmer days. Staff are friendly and always try to help, if you want something different than on the menu they will try their best to do it! A good range of local beers and ciders and a nice selection of reasonably priced wines make for a great lunch or romantic dinner!

We stayed in the mews annex the rooms were fantastic but a little warm. The food in the restaurant was fantastic. Would recommend the White Hart whole heartedly.

With business taking me to Dartmoor almost every week since the start of the year I've been staying at The White Hart regularly; it's become something of a second home. Okay, it has no gym, no swimming pool, no sauna, no gardens. Even the car park is a public car park 50 yards down the road. Do I give a monkey's? No. Why? Because this hotel is brilliant. As hotels go, The White Hart is relatively small and a bit quirky. Located in the centre of Moretonhampstead, it's an old coaching inn that was totally (and tastefully) refurbished in 2012 and offers twenty-odd newly decorated rooms with the most incredibly comfortable beds. That's not what makes this place feel like a second home though: It's the staff. I only stay over at The White Hart one or two nights a week but, every time I show my face there I get the same warm reception from the team there. They're fantastic. But, a good cake also needs icing. The White Hart has that too: The food here is (to quote my wife) "to die for". The menu's eclectic enough to cater for most tastes and as much of the food as is possible is locally sourced. It shows. I've yet to have anything that was less than outstanding to eat. I really can't rate this place highly enough. But, if anyone asks you about it just remind them: No swimming pool; no gym; no sauna; gardens and no car park. We'd not want everyone to know how good it is, would we.

The chicken leek and mushroom pie had '' proper'' pastry.

Stayed here with the wife and grandkids, service was great, food was awesome, very friendly would recommend it to anyone, can't fault it.

We stayed here for just a single night but could not recommend it highly enough. Friendly staff, very well kept, tidy hotel and spotless room. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was brilliant with cereals and cooked breakfast options. The night before we had had a lovely meal with some very nice local beer. We will be back here again.
