Dear Bulls Head of Chislehurst. When I come and visit my best friend, as I frequently do being a former Chislehurst resident myself, we have always taken time to have a lunch and wine out while I'm here. As such we have made our way to the Bulls Head on many occasion. On Saturday we looked forward to our afternoon of chat, food and wine and we ordered from the Brunch menu. Myself the bacon with crushed avocado and poached egg, my friend the fish platter… now here lies the problem. When I say fish platter, that may be a little generous a description. Over the many years we have frequented your hostelry we have noted that things differ depending on the day of the week and the time of day. The food is to say inconsistent. Judging by the last visit, it is getting decidedly worse. Upon being presented with a pathetic thimble size portion of pate within the platter, is it wrong to challenge that maybe it should at least be bigger than the butter? Is it also somewhat patronising a response for the chef / cook to send out the lovely waitress dealing with our query with a slightly larger portion in a small bowl fitted neatly in her palm. Not to give us, no that would be too easy a solution, simply to deliver a message from said cook and act as a prop to demonstrate about the economics of how much that larger portion costs the Bulls Head to provide it's customers if it were generous enough to put it on our plate. '£5 apparently?!? ' May I suggest cook of said fish platter and Bulls Head of Chislehurst you review your menu so you don't have to explain the costings of food provision to your customers as an excuse to provide such measly portions and present them with something they feel is value for money. Yours, a very disappointed and hungry friend of a Chislehurst resident and patron of The Bulls Head for over 30 years. PS: The hunger stems from having to share my brunch with my friend to ease her hunger. I never share my food.
