Great service. Staff so welcoming and lovely x.

Popped in for lunch with my son. We were half hour early due to the downpour. The staff were lovely and very accommodating considering the current climate. Attentive and polite, was very impressed with the staff. As for the food it was beautiful. Sat at home now realising we don’t need tea. Thanks guys.

Booked in for Sunday lunch, we all had a roast dinner, gorgeous bread with oil and balsamic vinegar and an ‘in between course’ sorbet. Everything was beautiful in taste and presentation. Really friendly, attentive staff. Could find no fault. Will be back.

We chose to have the 2 courses for £21 but there is £24 for 3 courses. It’s restaurant was quaint with a fireplace which made it very cosy. Relaxing atmosphere with fantastic service. Our waitress took our order we had the wood pigeon starter which was very tasty although I found the apple mousse slightly strange in texture. All in all very very tasty. I had looked forward to the venison but sadly out but the lamb cutlets in its place were amazing. Came with new potatoes roasted, parsnip mash, peppered kale, 2 crispy bacon rashers and port sauce. Everything was wonderful and well seasoned. Really really would recommend this wonderful establishment but you must book as many people were turned away and we had the foresight to book early. One issue I did find but did bring to their attention was our knives were very blunt and struggled to cut Kale and meat. The other diners in our party had the steak and guinea fowl and both said theirs was amazing too. Can’t wait to return!

Wonderful cuisine, real class dishes, balanced and stylish — wonderful staff, and a great day or evening meal, holding the standard high in a saturated, but uninspired market … definitely recommend.

We went there yesterday.
The sign outside said 3-5pm afternoon tea.
We went in an asked about this before about 2.30 were told they were doing them about 3.15 so we went for a wander.
We came back and were given a menu for the cream teas. So we ordered a drink while we waited. We sat outside the girl brought out drinks. We said we wanted just one cream tea. She went to order it. So we were waiting. Another couple came and sat outside and wanted cream teas to be told, no cre…am teas today! Excuse busy day! Well yeh it’s a Saturday and nice weather we new we were having for days! We hadn’t been told this. We just were waiting for ours to arrive. 2 Rosette food. 1star service. So bad! Will not return. Highly recommend king john hunting lodge. Superb and nicer garden!

The food was excellent and I would have given five stars if it was not for an issue that we had with the wine. We ordered a bottle of the Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. The waitress accepted this and returned with the bottle (of what we assumed was the wine that we ordered). However, we noticed during the meal that the wine served was in fact a South African blend of Cab Sav and Merlot. We didn’t have an issue with the wine in itself (which was nice), but we were worried that we had received a more expensive bottle. When the bill came, the wine was £5 more expensive than the one we ordered. We presumed that there had been a mix up and that the waitress thought we had ordered the different (more expensive) bottle. However, when we checked the wine list after the meal, the wine we received was not even on their wine list so there had been no mix up: they had simply served us an incorrect more expensive bottle without mentioning it to us at the time and without giving us the chance to change our order or confirm we were happier with the increased price. This is disappointing service as I would expect a restaurant to be honest with their customers rather than serving an incorrect more expensive bottle (that wasn’t even on their wine list) without mentioning it.

Absolutely delicious food. A lovely 1500s place with really really good food, wine selection and service. Recommendable!

A lovely restaurant and as a London Cabbie and tour guide I book my clients in for lunch when we visit the Cotswolds.

Very good food. Excellent atmosphere. The building is extremely charming. The waitstaff are incredibly friendly, although service can be slow, don't be in a hurry here. The food is delicious, although the veggies served on the side of two of our table main courses were overcooked and unseasoned. They were quite bland. I ordered the beet and feta soup, which was fantastic. Second course was the goat cheese fondant. Very tasty except the side veggies. We would definitely return.

Went for lunch at this place on Good Friday. The place is beautiful and the food was great and very well presented. They have a set menu at a very reasonable price. Definitely one the best restaurants in the area. Would love to come back and stay in one o the rooms.

Visited for lunch with my mother and my daughter. The food was stunning and the staff fabulous. I have ran my own successful restaurant in the past and wouldnt hesitate to recommend this beautiful restuarant to anyone in fact already planning a return visit to share it with my husband too!
A proper restuarant with beautifully prepared, presented and cooked food with a friendly welcome and great atmosphere! The menu choices and prices meant something for everyone and I will admit I am a right fussy cow myself with different likes and dislikes! Cant ask for more. Worth the short walk from the village parking!

Love this place. Beautiful settings. Cosy in winter with a lounge you can rekax in. Fragrant in summer in the peaceful garden. A top chef who's thoughtful menu is a delight to choose from. As a vegan I just let them know I am coming and allow them to create. I have never been disappointed.

We had the best room in the inn. It was nice, very quaint… However the toilet would not flush adequately, and the water pressure in the shower was absolutely awful. But it was nice considering what it is.

My wife, grandmother in law and I went to Sign of the Angel for an evening meal last weekend. The service was excellent throughout with very friendly yet professional waiting staff. The food was exquisite, delicate portions that at first seemed small, but upon finishing were just about perfect. The standard of the food prepared was excellent, kudos to the chef indeed! When they have the confidence to serve your rare steak without a steak knife (intentionally I might add) you know they know what they're doing. I cannot rate the accommodation as we did not stay, but as a restaurant I can safely say that it was nothing short of excellent.

A lovely atmosphere and really good value for money, somewhere I'd visit again.

We had a great time. The food is excellent, the menu was diverse and I can't wait to come back to try something else. A little pricy but worth every penny.

We were asked to leave before completing our purchase of ice cream. We visited following the 'Laycock at War' show to buy ice cream for 4 adults and 2 children. Before my wife had finished ordering and paying, a woman (landlady? ) came over and grumpily said "you've bought takeaway ice cream, please take it away".! We were shocked as the place was empty. Found a much nicer pub (The George Inn) around the corner with very friendly staff.

Slow slow slow. Very disappointing, perhaps we just went on a bad day; however the best part of 2hrs for one course is just not acceptable especially when the restaurant wasn't at capacity and we booked for the first sitting on a Sunday. The roast potatoes were hard to say the least. Fully pre-roasted for prep and then flashed in a fryer I would have guessed. Just not up to standard for the prices on the menu. Very disappointed.

Well know local restaurant but just had afternoon tea here, what a delight. Scrumptious, sweet, savoury and more. Well worth a try for a change. £30 for afternoon tea for two, easily enough for two. Served between 3pm and 5pm.

Absolutely lovely. Came here with my wife and the ingredients and quality of the cooking were exceptional. Set in a gorgeous 15th century inn, the restaurant is a delight to just sit in! Some reviewers thought it was pricey, but me and my wife had 3 courses each and wine and it came to £84. I don't think that's unreasonable especially given the beautiful interior. Other reviewers have stated it's slow. It is a tad, but then it makes a point of mentioning that on their menu as everything is prepared as you order it. If you want fast food perhaps try a franchised fried chicken outlet. Not that there are any in Lacock. I think it's worth a solid 5*.

Very scenic. The food was timely despite everything being very busy, the staff were attentive and were happy to chat. Everything was well presented and cooked lovely.

Tonight our party waited for an hour and a half for our main course to arrive. Whilst the food was ok — and it was only ok — the wait was unacceptable and the lack of awareness from the waiting staff that we might have been getting restless and hungry shows a lack of attention to detail. I shouldn't have to complain to get some service. Whilst the free bottle of wine was a gesture, the cost to the restaurant would have been about £6. Perhaps a complementary desert and coffee would have been a better gesture. It would have been better still if someone had come to explain that the kitchen was under pressure and apologise for the delay before we were forced to complain. That way we would have been kept in the picture and would have been more understanding. As with the recent BA meltdown it is always the lack of information that annoys customers the most. This is now the second time we have experienced a wait of one and a half hours for food at The Sign of the Angel. Our friends were not impressed with our recommendation of restaurant and sadly we won't be coming back.

Lovely, quiet country restaurant/hotel in a beautiful location. Came for a birthday with my wife and daughter. Superbly prepared cuisine with a real variety of well blended flavours on everyone's plate. Reasonably priced for the quality of food on offer, and very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive service.

My wife and I along with friends ate and stayed at this lovely quaint pub! The staff was amazing, the rooms have been complained about, not sure why… our room was quite lovely, and our friends room was just as nice as ours. The food was great, and the only disappointment was that they ran out of the beef Wellington before we could try it. Would definitely recommend this for your stay in the lovely little village of Lacock.

The village of Lacock was amazing. The Angel is a fantastically charming place. The staff work hard and cannot do enough for you. We had dinner, tasty food but more tempting mastered dishes than wholesome pub fayre. The complementary sorbets and breads were a welcome treat. The only downside was the room facilities were lacking a little. No TV x no iron in room x basic not luxury toiletries x the room was very small x which again is no problem except the panoramic shots if the room on the net lead you to a different expectation x the staff certainly made up for anything under par which led be to still giving a 4/5, maybe tho the management need to evaluate their customer journey.

Lovely stay at Sign of the Angel this weekend. Bedroom and bathroom were full of character, tastefully decorated and well equipped with beautiful smelling toiletries, tea and coffee supplies and yummy homemade flapjack. Guests have use of a cosy living room where we were able to enjoy a celebratory bottle of bubbly we had waiting in our room when we checked in.
Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic, great service and incredibly tasty food (especially the pork belly! ). It was… also very reasonably priced — would highly recommend! We had breakfast before we left, which was included in the room rate. Fruit, yoghurt, cereal, juice, croissants and jams were provided on a buffet table whilst a good selection of hot items were available from a menu. Again great service and great food :) Thank you to all for making our weekend so fantastic!

Friendly staff and delicious food, but the vegetarian main was much too small, so disappointed in that respect.

The quality reflects the price. Well worth it and the staff are superb. Really friendly and a very welcoming place.

I had my 60th birthday party at The Sign of the Angel. The staff were very professional, we had amazing food, amazing service, amazing attention to detail and all in all a fabulous experience. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and certainly well worth a visit. 10 out of 10 well done.

Pub with a lot of character. Excellent menu and great garden for the summer months. I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot their Google Street view tour so saw the guest bedrooms which again have loads of character.

Not enough of range on the menu. Definitely not suitable for children Very small portions and my chicken was cold! Didn't enjoy eating here a waste of money.

Great lunch yet again, can't wait to try the Christmas menu.

I've visited this establishment several times. Always a positive experience. However, last I visited Lacock (Dec 2013), it was permanently closed for business. Very sad loss.
