Great fillet steak! And friendly service.

Me and my husband stayed there for one night on the weekend 14th-15th march. As soon as we got there, the staff were so welcoming and the atmosphere was just fantastic. Rooms were lovely too, clean and spacious and really comfy. The food was absolutely brilliant. I am gluten free so there was so much gluten free choice it was difficult what to have. We will definetly be coming to stay again at The Duke of Marlborough:)

Lovely large rooms, great food selections, just outside Woodstock (35 min walk), just enough to walk off the superb full English breakfast.

Stayed last weekend and I left a pair of earrings, what amazing service I received them in the post yesterday, thanks we also had a lovely stay only one night but everyone was really helpful.

We stopped here after a run in oxford. We had some drinks first and decided to order food. A plate of nachos was mishcarged, and we ended up paying extra for a very small plate of nachos, which was wet, and had a large piece of grease proof paper or something in it. When we made the staff aware, in what was a quiet pub, they were very reluctant to do anything about it. We will not be returning.

Went for a simple lunch time snack and a drink. Something had upset the manager/owner that had nothing to do with me but for some reason he decided to have a rant. I and several others promptly left, never to return. Lots of other places around for refreshments without aggro.

It's conveniently located near Woodstock. We stayed there to do sight seeing. Rooms are OK, and breakfast was typical English and good.

Lovely food. Good place to stop and visit the surrounding towns and villages.

Stayed here for one night as I was in the area on business. I turned up after my days work and was greeted by the owner at the bar, who was extremely polite and helpful. Having checked in I then went to my room and I was not at all disappointed. Whilst it does not have air conditioning there is a fan provided plus I was in a ground floor room which was very cool even in this scorching weather. The room itself has all the amenities you would expect such as brew kit, TV etc and… it was clean. The room is not laid out in a modern fashion and if anything is 'olde world' which for me was spot on. The only downside for the light sleepers amongst you is that it is situated near a main road. For me this wasn't an issue but for others it might be. I then had a shower which was good and then went for some dinner. The menu is brill And I sampled the beef burger which was well cooked and hot. The next meal I took after this was breakfast and I have to say that this was spot on. Would I recommend this to others? If you're looking for a modern contemporary place then book a travel lodge or premier inn. If you're looking for a country style/farmhouse type place then this is the one for you. Very relaxing atmosphere with plenty of space outside to sit and enjoy the good weather
Reasonably priced but for me it's the owner and the staff plus the warm welcome that won it. Thank you for a pleasant stay and I will be coming back!

Stayed to two nights, Excellent breakfast as was all the food. Room was nice and comfy. Staff were very welcoming. Overall a great weekend.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay. The afternoon tea on the Friday was delicious and so was our Meal on Saturday night. We also had breakfast on Sunday morning which left us very full. The accommodation was great and the staff were all so friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend.

What a little Gem that Derek and his team have at the Duke of Marlborough have. Stayed here on 12 / 4 / 18 and had a lovely room with Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast. Rooms are great, The Lounge bar has a lovely open log fire. We will certainly be returning. Well Done Derek.

Very nice food, staff, and vibe inside. Very extensive gluten free menu, perfect as we have two celiacs in the family.

Very nice country pub not far from Blenhiem Palace. Food was very tasty and served quickly. Staff were polite and friendly. Overall a very nice experience.

Simple but good hotel. Comfortable room without excess. Excellent reception. Good restaurant and great breakfast. Very good price.

Really nice location not far from Woodstock. Rooms are in a seperate building from the pub so relatively quiet. Staff are really nice, although a bit disconcerting with the morning cleaning going on whilst eating breakfast. The room itself was spacious, clean and warm. Not sure why there is such a small TV in a large room. Also, the room would benefit from some cost hooks near the door to hang damp / wet outdoor clothing. The bathroom was lovely and clean, great shower but a bit fiddly to get a good temperature. Lovely toiletries supplied. Overall a restful and comfortable stay.

Had an excellent meal. Food came out within 30 minutes and was very good. Plates were well presented, portions were generous and everything was made exceedingly well. Food wasn't "fussed" with. If you ordered carrots, you got carrots. Not blackened, or raw or any other silly gimmick. Actual, nicely cooked carrots as would belong next to any traditional English meal. All veg was brilliant, and the half duck I ordered… Well, there was no mistaking that this was half of an enormous duck! Service was excellent too. We were informed as we ordered that the duck specifically would "take 30 minutes". The duck was at the table in less time than that. Puddings and coffees were also quick to arrive and were as good as the rest, with a selection of traditional options. The white chocolate cheesecake was perfect.

Highly recommend The Duke of Marlborough. We stayed here while visiting Blenheim Palace and The Festival of Lights… which I have to say was totally amazing! Our stay at The Duke of Marlborough coincided with a snowfall of ten inches! The manager & staff could not have been more helpful xx The room was clean, comfortable and very warm, with lashings of hot water. A generous hospitality tray was greatly appreciated. Restaurant food was delicious and well presented and the full English Breakfast was a lovely start to our day. I don't like to single out staff as they were all very good… However Jenny was lovely… so efficient and well trained. We will definitely be booking in again xx.

Nice room with extra large double bed. Clean and despite the road outside it was very quiet. The staff were friendly and the food good. Only a short drive into Woodstock and around six miles to an Oxford Park and Ride.

The staff are very polite, professional and helpful. The room I stayed in was clean, tidy, with a bath, shower and a freeview TV. The bar is well stocked with an excellent selection of spirits and beers with good seating and real fireplaces. The food is the best aspect of this establishment, the chef at the time of my visit reminded me of Gordon Ramsay and he's good at his job. I can definitely recommend a stay here.

Great place to stay. They have the unique quality of making you feel welcome and looked after without being overbearing. Rooms are wonderfully comfortable and very clean. Food is excellent and not expensive. Breakfast was delicious.

Lovely atmosphere in this quaint country pub, gorgeous food and friendly staff always been made to feel welcome. Hotel rooms are always smart, clean and up to date very spacious and well recommended.

Excellent menu choice Had saute mushrooms to start then gammon egg and chips excellent food.

We were staying with friends in the area and we wanted to take them for a meal and they suggested this place. We went on Monday October 29th (2012). I'm afraid to say it was one of the WORST meals we have had in a long time. I had the duck which was very dry, on the menu it said it came with orange and ginger sauce, which was flavourless and very runny &, the small amount there was, was under the duck, to me it looked as if the thing had been microwaved. The potatoes where supposed to be flavoured with leeks and cheddar cheese, neither of which we could taste. The other vegetables, what there was of them, were over cooked and very soft. I would NOT recommend this place to eat — far from it.
