Booked Afternoon Tea there for yesterday 6.4.2022 for myself and a friend. Highly recommend … Marvin our host was charming, answered all our needs, excellent Customer and even gave us a History lesson. Beautiful place completely different setting to a Traditional Afternnoon Tea setting … a must for us again ✔️

I love this place, drinks are reasonably priced. Staff friendly. Options to sit in bar, lounge or lovely garden weather permitting and fab steak restaurant onsite. What's not to love!

My daughter got married here Sunday we hired the whole hotel, staff great, rooms quirky, food lovely, fantastic.

We were married at The Elephant on 15th August 2021 and cannot praise the venue and staff enough! From the very early planning stages, all the way through to our family breakfast on the morning after — they just could not do enough for us! In contrast to most other wedding venues, The Elephant did not take a “cookie cutter” approach to our day, instead we were able to have EXACTLY what we wanted, exactly how we wanted it. Got a favourite food? They’d make it. Only want a hand full of guests? No problem, they won’t force you to have a minimum number. Got a weird and wonderful idea for evening entertainment? They’re onboard. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts to the wedding coordinator, Claire, for making the planning of our day so so easy. Thank you to Gustavo and the rest of the bar team for putting on a cocktail making class for our evening entertainment — it was fantastic and something I’ve never experienced at a wedding before. Thank you to the caterers for the BEST food ever 🤤 just brilliant. We loved it all. To top it off, it was so so reasonably priced. If you’re thinking of getting married, I’d highly recommend you have a chat with Claire and the team. We had the loveliest time ❤️

We got married at the Elephant in August. After having to postpone due to Covid, Claire was so helpful, kind and accommodating throughout the whole drama and when we were eventually allowed to go ahead we had the most beautiful ceremony in the Trunk room then our wedding breakfast in the Herd, the food was outstanding and the staff were amazing. Claire was unbelievable and made our day absolutely perfect. Thank you for our treasured memories xxx.

The food and service was excellent. Staff were wearing masks and gloves. It felt safe but was also a bit of normality to be eating out again. A great way to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the hotel is located close to the grocery store and excellent bistros. The views of the local buildings in Pangbourne are a treat. Would definitely recommend staying here to friends and family and will likely stay here when we can in the future.

Enjoyed a fantastic stay celebrating my brothers wedding. Food was amazing, delicious and piping hot despite mass catering. Staff were so lovely — all very friendly and so helpful. Rooms were fascinating — all different and with great attention to detail. One minor hiccup with one guest was resolved by Chris the manager going above and beyond to rectify the issue. Thank you so much to all the team for making my brother and his new husbands day just perfect and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The staff were absolutely brilliant at Saturday's wedding which made my job as a photographer so much easier. Thank you so much. The venue itself is fantastic as well.

We attended a wedding here and it was a fantastic venue. Beautiful garden and the staff were friendly and professional. The food was really well done. Parking in the next door car park was free as it was a bank holiday. I'd definitely recommend!

After getting engaged in December 2016, choosing The Elephant at Pangbourne as our venue was the first (and one of the easiest) decisions we made when planning our wedding.
Early on, we took our parents along to a wedding fair held at the hotel, and followed it up by a superb Sunday lunch in the restaurant which was met with a great seal of approval all round!
In the following months and many decisions that had to be made, Clare (the events manager), was absolutely spectacu…lar. She guided us through the process without rushing us or treating us as just means to make the bottom line better at the end of the year.
Finally the big day arrived in February of this year and it was beyond perfect! The staff were always there, but extremely discreet — actually impressively so. All the rooms were presented immaculately, the bar has a superb selection that catered to everyones tastes. After our tasting evening, we had chosen to go for the roast beef as our main (largely down to the giant sized Yorkshire pudding that came with it! ) and on the day it was just as tasty and just as impressive as I remembered.
We got some great feedback from our guests about the venue — the brilliant elephant statue out front being the main focal point. Suffice to say, we had an unforgettable experience from beginning to end and would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone.

An interesting place with quirky public areas and bedrooms. Room 15 is nicely kitted out & even has an ironing board & iron but is very warm (as is the hotel itself) & could do with better lighting. The room & bathroom were very clean though the mattress was a bit soft for me. The pub & the steak grill restaurant served good if a bit pricy food. Staff are very friendly & happy to help. Although it could do with a few tweets we did like The Elephant & would certainly consider going back as the rooms are reasonably priced & Pangbourne is on the River so walks there are nice.

A very unusual hotel! The name of the hotel is spread throughout with elephants nick here and there. To me personally it has a feel and effect of being colonial without it being too obvious. Rooms are very nice and are up to date with modern ensuite. We also had a meal and this was cook to a very high standard. This place is certainly well worth staying.

Room was very beautiful, large four poster bed and a huge TV on the wall that was obscured by one of the posts. It was spotlesly clean and comfortable and a very good selection of teas and coffee which is always a bonus but I kept on getting a very strong smell of smoke during the night which kept me awake they have a log burner there but it was more like cigarette smoke so not sure if the night porter was going for a crafty smoke in the garden and the smell was coming in through the windows. The bar food was terrible, stale and dry bread used for sandwiches and it took an age to be served for the price I expected much better. The breakfast was a little disappointing but slightly better than the lunches my fried egg was cold like it had been standing around in cold oil. On the upside the staff are lovely, extremely welcoming and very attentive and couldn't do enough for you so that made the stay a lot more pleasurable. So, sort out the food side of the business and it would be a proper gem of a place… oh and maybe get the smoker to smoke well away from the ground floor rooms.

We arrived early evening on a Saturday. The service was painfully slow, 2 of the 6 drinks were poured incorrectly and a third draught beer ran out having poured only 2/3rds of a pint. We stayed for a second drink, however, things did not improve. Nice surroundings and a lovely open fire. Would try again and give them the benefit of the doubt that this was a glitch!

Join in an all age 18yr-118yr. Quiz 1st Wed evening of the month starting again in Feb 2018 at 7.15 in one of the function rooms look for Oddfellows Quiz sign or ask at bar or reception. Be there between 7 and 7.15 and have great fun till 9.45. £3 plus what you buy from bar. (food and/ordrink) Lovely evenings not to be missed.

We enjoyed a really nice lunch from their varied menu on Saturday. The lovely garden was well set up for a chilled lunch. We all enjoyed our food but the staff customer service was a little lacking. Everyone was very pleasant but we had to ask to get the table wiped down before we ate because it was gross and the staff response was so slack. An odd mixture but worth going to.

Decor, service, breakfast, rooms, everything 5 star! Very quirky & different. We enjoyed a wedding service & overnight stay here. I can't recommend it enough.

We were invited to the pizza and prosecco evening to test out the new pizza oven. The secret garden is really lovely With stylish garden furniture and patio heaters. The pizzas got better through the evening and the prosecco was very nice ThAnkyou! The staff are very friendly and the managers were all mingling with the customers and very welcoming. We will be back for more!

The new steak restaurant called The Herd was brilliant Steaks are cooked on an open fire in the dining room which adds a real atmosphere and sense of theatre not to mention making the steaks taste amazing. The menu is comprehensive with a good number of side options, sauces and rubs. I'll definitely be going back to The Herd to sample more!

We attended a father's day BBQ, whist the food was nice… In a lovely garden. The service and drink availability was poor.

The hotel is lovely especially the garden or the back. Could have done with a few more staff on the bar though.

Cool place. Good restaurant. Old building with lots of atmosphere. Also the service was good.

Beautiful and classy hotel in a great area. Very expensive however. Reception were very friendly and rooms were full of commentary drinks and snacks. We went down for breakfast half an hour before it ended and found it was lacking a bit though, they had run out of most things.

There was confusion in regards to our reservation upon arriving. Bed was hard, pillows were so soft you fell right through them.

We have had 2 family celebrations at the Elephant this year. One for a family dinner in the private dining room, which was fantastic. We had 8 young children with us and the hospitality at the Elephant meant that we had a very relaxed but fun 70th birthday celebration. the 2nd event was a party with 100 family and friends. And again the Elephant were faultless with their support for our event. The staff were charming and put up with our family/friends, and the food was delicious. We've had so much great feedback from people who attended and much of this is thanks to the Elephant team. thank you.

Only drank in the bar here but it's a lovely place with a fantastic back garden. Great place for a pint on a hot summer evening.

We stayed at the Elephant for a wedding. The room was lovely and the staff were really good and friendly. The breakfast was also pretty good, excellent poached eggs. Worth a look.
