We didn’t stay here overnight but we had a lovely meal here. The staff and service was great, the food was delicious: I recommend the pork cutlet and the mushrooms and tapenade on toast. The atmosphere was tranquil and traditional Cotswold. The garden is ideal to enjoy a summers day but there is plenty of shade.

15-16/06/18. We had an overnight stay in the hotel and at the time of staying I would say that our party of four had a very pleasant time. The village is lovely, The Plough is a lovely old building full of character. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy and may require a little bit of TLC but nothing of significance. We would definitely visit again and would not hesitate to recommend The Plough.

Sampled the Gin Experience. Great evening and would highly recommend. Stayed on for an evening meal. The risotto was to die for! Fabulous!

I emailed the Cotswold Plough in advance of my arrival to request a ground floor room due to disability as bookings made via Expedia don't always come through with disabled access requests detailed. The hotel responded quickly and ensured that I would be allocated a ground floor room, which they did. The room was a good size with plenty of room to negotiate one's way around the bed, tables, and chairs on crutches or with a wheelchair or rollator. The bathroom was a decent size also. I did not enquire about a shower stool or bath board so I'm not sure if those are available but it's worth asking if you should require them. My only (slight) gripe was that the room was rather cold; we tried adjusting the thermostatic valves on the radiators but there was no heat at any time up til 9am when we left each morning but other rooms had heat from about 7.30am (still a bit late for early risers like me). I did not complain to staff as we were only staying two nights. The shower pressure and water temperature were good. The bed, a zip & linked double/King was firm but comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, there were about 5 choices of cereals, various fruits (in their own juice), plain yoghurt and a selection of fruit juices on the buffet table. Once seated, we were given the cooked breakfast menu and offered a choice of freshly made toast to order. I had the avocado on brown toast with poached eggs both mornings as it was delicious.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful setting with very friendly and helpful staff. Food was of an excellent standard, inventive and absolutely delicious! And if you like gin… this is the place for you. Highly recommended.

We stayed here a good 6 years ago in the lazy deal at a time before having a kid etc and we used to love trying new hotels etc. This was excellent, the food was delicious, staff great and the hotel was really nice. Some of the room could done with a little update on decor for my liking but was clean and still modern.

This is a GREAT place for lunch. Very good, fresh, reasonably priced, fully stuffed made fresh to order sandwiches / ciabattas. Home made scotch eggs and sausage rolls, home cooked style dishes and some healthy and vegetarian options to. Great cheese counter, friendly service, drop in!

Have not stayed there, but used their restaurant. Superb food and service. They also have the original gin pantry.

The Plough always nice atmosphere. Only stopped for a drink, but the Sunday roast looked and smelt great.

First impressions were not good. The hotel looked unkept and the bar very cold. The staff were very helpful and lit the fire but it was almost too late. The Sunday lunch was excellent though. The whole impression was one of a hotel needing a good overhaul.

A beautiful pub from the 1600s with loads of fun options. Has a really nice country vibe about it.

Went for a meal last night and ended up very disappointed, service was extremely poor, we were pointed in the direction of the table, not asked if we wanted any drinks and then totally ignored for over 1/2 hour. Food was very slow in being served. Never asked if meal was ok or if we required any further drinks or any extras. We were given a a small discount but the meals were not cheap. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Food was fantastic and the Gin selection was the best I've ever seen. Service was excellent and staff were incredibly polite and helpful. Gin tastings and making experiences are available.

Lovely 17th century building. Fast and friendly service. Excellent food and great selection of gin. The room was excellent with a large bathroom and plenty of amenities.

Great place food is excellent not sure I would stay there but may give it ago.

Went for Sunday lunch and had roast sirloin. Beef, veg and service were all fine. Trouble is, there just wasn't enough. When I mentioned that vegetables were fairly cheap and that I thought there could have been more I was met with total indifference from two members of staff who enquired at different times. This made us feel particularly awkward so we left without dessert. Such a shame as it's a delightful place. But don't go looking for Cotswold gin.

Stopped here for a quick Saturday lunch. It's a beautiful building and location although not quite what I was exclusivity after looking at the website. Some at the table complained service was a little slow given it was empty but I found it to be fine and very knowledgeable especially around the gins. Food was excellent all around and will definitely go back.

Birthday night away in June. Lovely room, very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious meal and breakfast. Recommend trying a few of their 150 gins!

A sunny Bank Holiday weekend took us to The Plough. It was great to see that they have re decorated the restaurant. Clean, bright and traditional but with a contemporary twist. As always the food was delicious. We could not believe there where so many gins at the bar, 152 to choose from apparently. We did have a couple — it was great fun smelling so many. If in the Cotswolds it’s well worth a visit just for the gin. They do Gin Experience Vouchers. We have bookmarked the idea for Birthday/Christmas presents later on in the year. We came away thinking this would be a great place to take over with a bunch of friends or relatives — it's just so warm and friendly. It was a wonderful afternoon out with friendly staff, a big thank you to all those that served us. We will be back! ''

A poor experience but maybe our expectations were falsely raised. The pork dish was disappointing, though my fish was fine (though sadly served with a bowl of 'yesterdays' chips). When we quietly mentioned our disappointment we were met with "Why didn't you mention it earlier?! " in a rather accusative manner, but there was not any staff around raise it with, and why should I run round chasing staff; why didn't they enquire of our meal like a normal restaurant? We were then left with half empty plates for ten or so minutes, feeling very awkward and wishing we'd not said a thing! We were offered a complimentary dessert later, but we just wanted to get out! The whole evening was awful. Maybe we got them on a bad day… let's hope so. But they didn't handle a relatively minor complaint very well at all. Ah well, expectations dashed!

We visited yesterday (20 August 2011). A friend had a organised a family party there. We had a lovely day: good lunch; friendly, helpful staff; and a wonderful, quiet location. No more expensive than hiring a church hall and a caterer, apparently. The lawn was perfect for family croquet and the children. I'll find out later what our friends, who stayed, thought of their room after a night in it: it looked nice…
