Lovely food. Friendly service. Dog friendly. Clean and warm. Big portions and always a nice cold pint of decent beer. I love this place.

Absolutely disgusted with the non existent customer service! I booked to stay before and after my upcoming holiday but obviously due to the lockdown, all travel has been banned along with staying overnight in any hotels, B&B’s etc unless for specific reasons as outlined by the government and backed by law! I have not cancelled my bookings nor am I asking to change them, I am being made to by the lockdown that is in place. The company whom I booked with are also not able to get hold of this company. Absolutely shocking! They have taken my money knowing full well they are NOT allowed to cater for stays outside what has been set out. You cannot take people’s money when you are not able to fulfill the order, you will be covered for this so please sort this out and refund my money!

Great menu, very nice food — squid was delicious. The waitress was obviously very busy but that wasn't an issue, she managed really well.
Brilliant playlist on too! From the Beach Boys to Michael Jackson thank you for a lovely meal on our child free night, will be returning soon.

We booked a return visit, Shocked to see no COVID 19 compliance — no screens — staff without masks or visors. Food — mediocre and rushed — chef wanted to leave and could be heard shouting in the kitchen last f u cking order and I’m out. Staff removed plates without us all finish together, hurrying to get next course out. No discounts on the menu despite it being advertised Card machine not working, demanding bacs payment or cash. Ribs tougher than concrete Not happy.

Absolutely awful, our flight was delayed, so when we arrived there was no one about. Called the number on our emailed booking confirmation at least 10 times. Walked around the building 2 or 3 times. Knocked on doors and windows all to no avail! We had to find another hotel, another taxi ride, another £100!
When I called to complain and ask for a refund I was told “it’s not our fault, we emailed instructions on how to get in, so there’s nothing we can do”. I was on plane flying from turkey when the email was sent and the email didn’t arrive in my inbox until this morning. Why weren’t the instructions sent out with the booking confirmation? Why couldn’t they just refund us as a good Will gesture!
I will never book to stay here again.

Took my girlfriend and grandad here for lunchtime meal, food was really nice and plenty of it and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault anything, highly recommend.

Don’t normally eat roast dinner anywhere but home but today had a lovely Lamb Roast here and It was absolutely amazing. Piping hot and so tender. Staff were so friendly to us and even when they changed shift the barman came and said goodbye to us.
Would highly recommend this restaurant/pub to anyone who travels nearby.

Service — slow, with bad attitude and arrogant, food — way too oily and basic, 1* HSE rating = says it all! AVOID THIS PLACE!

Truly the most inconsiderate and ignorant neighbours ever. Service poor, food poor, 1* HSE rating in May 2019 — attitude stinks. AVOID this establishment until new management is in place — so many better alternatives locally.

Unfortunately my experience with this hotel was not one you wish for after a day's travel and late night flight. After arriving at the property at 2am the door that was to be left open by other guests was well and truly locked. Fortunately it took us and another couple only an hour to successfully disturb another guest who eventually woke to let us in. Finally after gaining blessed entry to our room we were greeted with a head downwards tilting bed and the comfort of every spring it possesed trying to penetrate my ribs for the whole 4 hours I managed to remain in the bed. Needless to say we won't be booking again… clean enough though.

Previously we've had good service and food. Today sadly the waitress, dipsy, wasn't as good. Forgot to serve one of 2 drinks. Didn't clear starter plates and only realised when she bought out our main meals. Then my meat and potatoes were cold so they microwaved it. Yorkshires were burnt and carrots were black in places.

Room and staff were lovely. Unfortunately chef didn't turn up for breakfast but was reimbursed for it and had breakfast in the Windmill (Wetherspoon) at airport. On whole good value for money… Thankyou to the young man working on evening of 7th very friendly. Also to the lady on morning duty couldn't have been more apologetic and helpful.

Stopped here for dinner as it was close to our lodging for the airport. We entered and sat patiently waiting for the waiter to get to us. We made eye contact several times and wondered why he was not serving us assuming he was just busy. After 20 minutes I noticed he was polishing glass behind the bar and we still had not received menus or put in a drink order. My wife got up to ask for menus and overheard him tell another couple who had just entered that the kitchen was now closed. We had been there for 25 minutes while the kitchen was still open and he was either to lazy or perhaps stupid to even acknowledge our presence. If the manager reads this it was a middle aged man with a goatee and dark hair as the server. Ubelievable behavior as a person let alone a server. Take your business elsewhere.

I've stayed for business a couple of nights and we had a good experience. Clean facilities, good food and kind staff. They have to fix some leaks in the bedroom because it literally rains inside the room. Apart from that, I would come back again.

Had a wonderfull afternoon tea here. Both me and my husband were delighted with the presentation and quality of the food. Service was lovely. Highly recomend.

Friendly staff and food reasonable and fairly priced.

Pleasant small pub with good food. They also have a heart as they were sponsoring trivia nights to raise money for a local girl with medical problems.

Very quiet little pub with good food, 10 mins from stansted, better to kill a couple of hours there than at the airport.

Food ok not keen on wooden bread board to service fish and chips. Service slow. Decor very nice.

We visited here whilst staying at an airport hotel. Never been here before but passed it coming from Hatfield Nature Park. Literally just round the corner. The staff were extremely friendly. Very welcoming. The pub was just lovely inside, great rustic decor, clean and tidy. Had an outside area it was just fab. We were super excited to order of the fabulous sounded menu. We ordered some food and it was sadly a little bit disappointing. The gentleman was so friendly we didn't want to make a fuss. The peppercorn sauce was like water and the beer battered fish had no batter. It was just a bit of a shame. The drinks were very reasonable and nice. If we were to go back again we would order a simple dish as they looked much better coming out of the kitchen than the fancier dishes.

It's a quirky place, that may not be for everyone, nice clean rooms our bed was on a noticeable slant! Chef didn't show up to prep breakfast, so settled for burnt toast and coffee! Would of liked to of been offered some refund!

Food was amazing… but servic3 very slow. Worth the wait. But don't be in a rush when going there.

We had a meal for four and were on the whole very happy. Staff were very apologetic about one dish that was not so good and on the whole we felt it was a place we'd love to visit again.

Since the "New Management" took over, this place has gone steadily downhill. We live locally and have eaten here many times over the past few months — and have now reached the stage where we will not waste further money with this collection of incompetent, hypocritical amateurs. Too many examples to list… … This morning — send our son to order some takeaway breakfast — turned away with the line "We don't do that" — he pointed out to them the large sin by their front door offering… "Takeaway breakfast" — "oh sorry new management" — excuse me but these clowns took over months ago — what a lame excuse. (Website offers takeaway breakfast too! ) Our kids walked down there to eat in person — poor quality, overpriced food (as usual) — £35 for a couple of breakfasts and drinks — pricing bore no relation to the menu they had ordered from — again "new management — sorry pricing is what it says on my till — menus might be wrong" — what a joke. Ordered the "rustic bread and oils / butter" the other day — shouldn't have been surprised when a couple of slices of bread (supermarket style thin sliced bread!

Americano coffees had to be returned twice as they were like warm water! No plate decor…
nothing that looked like a breakfast served in a restaurant if that's what they would like to call themselves. We waited an hour, when questioned, we were told the chef is on his own, The food arrived it was cold, very small portions, the manager was nowhere to be seen… leaving the young waiter to deal with the situation! Unacceptable! Manager walked back into restaurant and completely ignored us completely not even apologising for what had just happened! Then at the end… manager tried to make some kind of apology… too late! This was the third time here now… we gave you a fair chance… brush up on your customer service relations…! Such a lovely setting… with bad management! We will NOT be returning!

Yummy food (especially full English breakfast, and they separate the beans :) ) and friendly staff.

Absolutely Shocking! Told no gas no vegetarian main option, only 2 main options because of gas problem, no kids options so charged adult prices, waited over 45mins for food had to get menu's ourselves, table clasped not good! Complained and management said we were aware of no gas before hand however, was not told when we phoned and booked and was not told of ridiculous wait!

Had a very nice dinner. Love the old house and the interior has so much character. Staff is very friendly. Loved it so much so we returned for morning coffee.

Try the beef. It's the best I've ever had. Also the pork belly.

Just nodded our heads in here: didn't stop long as we were looking for somewhere to eat and the kitchen had just closed. Shame, as looked like a place worth getting lunch / dinner at. Those that had arrived in time for food looked… satisfied!

Staff very friendly beers really nice sun really strong (?! wtf its England, I ll go back to Greece sunburned! ) Everything in order. 5 stars from me (positive thoughts and critics are free of charge we shouldn't think twice when we can give them) :)

Although a very friendly & helpful waitress. Don't bother to visit if you just want lunch lunchtime. We had to have from the appetisers & mine was 1 small mackerel fillet & a few lettuce leaves. Disappointing for a light lunch or a starter at £6 We were assured there will be sandwiches in the next week or 2 Sorry won't be rushing back for more than a coffee or a drink after a walk.

I went there for breakfast on the way to airport. Breakfast was tasty, staff politely. Prices high a bit.

All very clean and welcoming. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and there was no one to greet us, but gave us directions to go and the key was on a keychain in the hallway when you exit the you stop there and leave. All in all very good.

Popped in here while viewing houses in the area. Service was excellent, the food even better. The coffee is also to a high standard. I went for the Green Man burger, which for a pleasant change was huge, yet not full of grease and was accompanied by some very nice skin on chips. Will definitely return here.
