If you're travelling to the Hook of Holland with Stena and need a place to stay the night before, the Harwich Premier Inn is well placed. As is typical with a Premier Inn you get a clean, comfortable room, a quick check in and an on site restaurant that also provides breakfast in the morning. I wouldn't necessarily choose this particular Inn if I was wanting to stay for a holiday in the area as there are probably more scenic locations but for ferry travel this was perfect. There's even a Lidl right next door that is open to 8pm in case you need any last minute supplies, a cheeky set of shelves or an air compressor. The room was fine although the beds were a bit on the hard side especially the kid's pull out beds that featured in our family room. This is unfortunately common to most Premier Inn and whilst getting them to change all of their pull out beds is not economically viable the addition of a mattress topper to soften it up would benefit. Also for some reason our room didn't have fully functioning air con. Instead we had a large fan which whilst fairly effective (thank God we weren't in a heat wave) was very noisy. Apart from that all was good. One word of advice about staying at this particular Premier Inn, because it's really aimed solely at ferry passengers (like us) using it as a staging post before embarking it does get very busy in the evening. When we were there the restaurant was pretty full so I would advise booking a table either during your room booking process or as soon as you check in.
