Couldn't fault any aspect of this hotel. Fully equipped, luxurious rooms. An experience you would pay hundreds if not thousands per night for in London.

Rooms are amazing the attention to detail is superb! The beds are so comfortbale, the best night sleep. Breakfast I had the full English and this did not disappoint it was perfect. The staff are very friendly. Overall would definitely recommend this hotel.

I had an amazing stay, the room was luxurious, classy and modern at the same time. The food was great and staff lovely, I would have stayed longer if I could.

Really lovely venue. The afternoon tea was wonderful and plenty of it. Attentive staff without being over attentive. Would highly recommend especially if you want to go somewhere nice for a celebration.

I sent the below email to the hotel after a recent stay. After a brief reply stating that it had been passed on to Senior Management I have had no further response. This just further reinforces my opinion of poor customer service.   Dear Sir or Madam,   Unfortunately I am writing to complain about my stay at your hotel last night. My husband and I decided at the last minute to spend the night at your hotel to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We spent our wedding night in your All Saints suite and we were very impressed by our experience with you. We had hoped that we would receive the same great service this time but we were sadly disappointed.   Our disappointment began when I made the reservation. I explained that I would need to leave for work at 7:15am and asked if it would be possible to have breakfast any earlier. Initially the lady on the phone mentioned that it would be possible to have a continental breakfast if I were to get down to the restaurant at 7am but then agreed with me that that wouldn't be enough time to order and eat breakfast. No alternative was offered. I have stayed in numerous hotels for work and needed to leave earlier than standard breakfast and have always been offered some kind of solution, even if it is just a pastry and a cup of coffee. I have since found out that on your website you offer a room rate which excludes breakfast. I was not offered this at this point either. This is very disappointing from a 5 star hotel.

Visited Monday for surprise Fathers Day ‘gentleman’s afternoon tea’. Lovely quality sandwiches and scones. Bacon scones with truffle butter were gorgeous! Couldn’t fault the food overall or the friendly service. Highly recommended,

We had lunch on the Terrace and it couldn't have been better. We parked in the car park and saw others having drinks so decided to go for a treat. Fantastic serving staff, knowledgeable and cheery. The food was lovely and fresh. Not cheap but reasonable for the type of upmarket place.

Have been to Greyfriars Restaurant a few times now for a meal and the afternoon tea experience. The decor is beautiful and in keeping with the building. Feels a world away from anywhere but is within close proximity to the town centre. The hotel also has its own ample car park which is accessed via an entry gate which adds to the exclusive feel of the experience. The afternoon tea is a perfect way to while away an afternoon and the cakes/scones are to die for.

Love cream tea with three best friends, lovely service and food. Decor in some parts are getting a bit tired looking but nevertheless had a good time.

Top notch dining and room experience on a valentines package stay over. Excellent service; treated like kings. Thoroughly recommended as an indulgent treat.

Brought my mum here for afternoon tea for her birthday. Wonderful, attentive service from start to finish. Really took her day to the next level so a massive thank you!

Great music and good ambiance. Food was lovely and service was good, very attentive. Priced really appropriately and not more than any other restaurant in Colchester.

Exceptional. Easily the best food I have experienced. Staff very friendly and the prices were reasonable for the quality.

We had afternoon tea here. Sadly, the sandwiches were a bit stale but dessert was amazing. As you can see from the photos, the children had loads of fun!

The venue, staff, service and food are all incredible. We've had two company Christmas meals here and both have been amazing.

Good location on the top of East hill in Colchester, car park on site, the Rose tea room is well decorated, good tea/coffee and scone.

Beautiful place. Looks like it should be in London and not in Colchester. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the place is spacious and clean. But pricey for a drink mind but the price of the rooms seems reasonable. Nice place to start your night out in Colchester.

Went to Greyfrier for afternoon tea, was very impressed with the quality of the food. The price was very reasonable too, service was impeccable and very accommodating to any special requirement if needed. Will definitely be going there again.

Had dinner here for our anniversary. Great bar. Great staff. Great cocktails. Great food.

Attend a wedding here today and felt so disappointed for the bride n groom. It was only a small affair and that's how were we treated. Welcome drinks weren't ready, canapés were tasty but late, and the finger buffet was only a fraction of what they had been told they would get.

We attended an evening wedding reception at GreyFriars, and had some drinks in the bar beforehand. The service was excellent, prompt and friendly. Really nice cocktails too. Would definitely go back if we're ever in the area again.

I stayed here and also organised our wedding luncheon. The entire experience from working with the events team, reception staff, bar staff and the waiting staff was fantastic. The food was delicious, organisation was excellent. Highly recommended. Also the bedrooms and suites are very definitely Colchester's finest hotel, in my opinion.

High quality food and nice venue. Friendly staff. The main course was sold out which they failed to notify us of. The service was a little slow but very friendly.

We went to Greyfriars for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The setting was lovely and the food was very good, particularly the starter and dessert. The service was a little slow, considering it was a Tuesday night and they sold out of one of the mains that my husband wanted very early (we must have been only the third or fourth table in). All in all though we enjoyed the experience.

A beautiful restoration of an old building in Colchester, and a lovely place to stay. The staff are all very attentive, and the rooms furnished well with a comfortable and L'Occitane toiletries. Breakfast was delicious, lots of choice, with freshly prepared hot choices (better than buffet style hot choices by far! )

The hotel standard of service and the rooms are excellent. The Breakfast menu offered excellent choices of food. Having attended the hotel for a Wedding Reception and Wedding Breakfast the event was going well until we sat down for the meal. It was during the meal, whilst awaiting the serving of the main course, that a speaker fell off its shelf, narrowly missing seated diners, onto a glass cabinet cover which resulted in the glass shattering, sending glass in all directions. Staff were quick to realise the problem and asked diners to leave the dining area while a clean up was undertaken. Once cleaned diners were returned to complete the meal. Unfortunately, the main course served was either cold or lukewarm, spoiling the whole effect of the meal even though the sweet course was an excellent. The disappointment of the Bride and Groom was clearly evident. During the evening event after the meal, on two occasions, a speaker fell from its shelf when people were dancing, proving that the sound system was not securely installed initially. The incidents marred what was expected to be a special occasion for the Bride and Groom.

This hotel was amazing! We had a large suite with gorgeous furniture and a massive tub. Every night our bed had chocolates on it, and the fridge was filled with complimentary beer, soda and water. There was a tea station above the mini fridge. We were also given some savory treats on our first night. All of the staff were very helpful and kind. We had a complimentary breakfast with our stay and it was great. Croissants, jam, eggs, sausage, scones, fresh juices. We also had high tea while we were there and the cakes and scones with jam and cream were so tasty. Make sure you reserve a high tea experience if you stay at GreyFriars!
