Treated ourselves to the valentines menu today and oh my gosh! The takeaway was organised/presented perfectly with instructions on how to reheat in the oven or microwave. Still stuffed 4 hours later! Thank you Mary, David and Marc ❤️

Had the lobster mouse with lobster and smoked salmon to start followed by the venison, would have both dishes again. The venison was cooked just right, pink in the middle and was tender and full of flavour.

We had such a special evening at La Fleur de Lys as the food was superb, and the staff looked after us so well, coupled with the beautiful surroundings, 6 of us had a very memorable evening yesterday, thank you so much from Nigel Cook and family.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal there last night. The food was wonderful, the service was friendly and inviting, the atmosphere was convivial and welcoming. We enjoyed the evening and will certainly go back again.

A1. Eaten there 3 times in the last couple of months and it's been excellent every time.

It's the third time we've been back in the last couple of months. Pricewise its actually on a par with a French restaurant of similar quality in France and while the food itself seems to have a slightly British slant to it, you certainly can't fault the dishes or the taste. The staff are excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. I'm particularly fond of the little chocolate boxes full of sorbets and ice cream (depending on when you visit) with the cointreau sauce. It's an ideal spot for a special occasion such as birthdays or anniversaries or a Tuesday when you feel like really stuffing yourself with nice food.

This "Restaurant with Rooms" was a very lucky find for us for a short 3 day break. I have mobility problems and they have a very accessible ground floor room with a well designed walk in shower which was excellent for me. We were joined last night by old friends visiting from Australia. We had an excellent relaxed meal selecting from a menu worthy of any London fine dining restaurant. The staff are attentive, but not overly so, and very friendly. Any little extras like a …coffee on the patio while I worked and smoked were provided without fuss or any hint that the request was putting them to extra trouble. We don't often go back to the same place again, becasue I like variety. However, I suspect we will certainly be coming back here before long. All in all — highly recommended.

Food superb, service great.

Maybe an underestimated, small hotel in shuffling distance of all that is Shaftesbury. Whilst drinking in a local pub and having talked to those who work locally, I found everyone knows the great reputation without actually having sampled the food (don't waste any more time). I'll tell you how it went. My room is lovely and the daily room reset has an attention to detail, leaving your stuff as you left it without movement but in consideration of your needs. Free Wi-Fi without having to worry about passwords is quick and easy and a small laptop in the room to utilise should you need to. The staff and management are superb but unobtrusive. Then breakfast was served. Hot plate and lovely produce cooked to a consistent tee and perfectly ‘to order’, with a great choice of options (I'd book for brunch if it was available! ). Wow! Then the evening meal… lovely wine list but a very reasonable house wine by the glass, started with ‘salmon and crab chowder’ (yikes! Delish! ), garnished with roast red pepper and a home made selection of salted breadsticks to temper the seasoning, texture, flavour, crunch and audible satisfaction. Really excellent. Followed by…gorgeous tender lemon sole, plenty of butter, delectable asparagus, and a mixed selection of manageable greens accompanied with a sweet root vegetable, red, orange and yellow pot full of flavour. New pots also to help finish you off. All served with a tenacious and invaluable service ethic. Thank you, really enjoyed my meal.
