We ate in the restaurant as we had previously stayed in the hotel. We had lunch, booked in advance advising of intolerances. We were quickly shown to our table which was marked with our name and 'allergies'. We were quickly given water, glasses and menus. The menus offered very few options to cater for my advised intolerance to gluten and dairy. The restaurant and bar was very busy with only 2 serving staff that we saw. We waited some time for someone to take our order for both drinks and food. I was offered an iPad with all the allergens listed (not all the food on the iPad was available at lunch). I asked if I could have a steak and flat mushroom ciabatta with salad rather than the bread and flavoured butter. After a discussion with the manager it was agreed I could. Mu husband ordered a fish finger sandwich which was apparently very enjoyable. I had a 'naked steak and mushroom ciabatta' which turned out to be the steak, chopped mushroom which was cold and was not even the same amount as a small button mushroom (cold) and a handful of lettuce leaves. I was given a lemon and oil dressing (very nice). For this I was charged exactly the same amount as the regular dish. Very disappointing to say the least. Our server Lianne was very nice. Would I recommend or go back — NO.

Stayed here 7-8March. All was fabulous this hotel is really lovely. Great feeling as you walk in with such a friendly welcoming. We were extremely lucky and given room 11 which was huge warm and spotlessly clean. Missive comfortable bed with two good pillows each. The bathroom with very large bath and overhead shower. Nice tea tray with biscuits and two small bottles of water.
Had drinks in the smashing old fashioned bar that had friendly young bar staff. Beer was super nice too!
Dinner in the main dining room was out of this world. Haven’t had a hotel meal that great for absolutely ages. All so so delicious so don’t miss the chance of enjoying your supper here!
We didn’t have breakfast but I’d bet that it’s pretty amazing also.
There is nothing to dislike about this beautiful hotel. I really wish we could have stayed longer.
Thank you for such a short but amazing stay. Please don’t change a thing about it we want to come back!

Had a midweek lunch with friends. Rob served us and he was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. 3 of us had fish and chips which was a huge portion but a little overpriced at £16.95 and the other a club sandwich £10.45. All very tasty. Lovely restaurant, hotel and bar in a good location at the end of Blandford high street. Would recommend.

We had an impromptu Sunday dinner last week and the food, service and environment was excellent. We hadn't booked but the staff kindly showed us to some free tables in the bar area. A lovely room with plenty of light and nicely spaced out. The food was excellent and the whole family enjoyed their meals. The staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming throughout. Easy to give 5 stars for this one — well recommended!

This was a great experience. Superbly comfortable bed and the shower was the best we have ever experienced. The view up the road from our windows was also very nice as it had a suttle red glow from the 'Crown Hotel' front signage when the curtains were open. Even with the window open a little, we were not disturbed by traffic at all. Less then a minute to be handed the keys and a couple of minute to hand them back and pay, Superb.
Parking great too.
The only reason we dropped a star was that the breakfast seemed a little under par. Plenty of it though.

Even a standard room is great, spacious, good shower and really good comfortable bed. Some of the staff seem grumpy though… Generally the others are pleasant.

Delicious Sunday lunch, not cheap but worth very penny. We did have a 50 minute wait though. We would definitely return.

Lovely food, great atmosphere, clean, tidy and I enjoy my favourite lunch every time. Next time though, going for the ploughman's. Yummy.

I found this place quite querky, and came across some interesting characters (staff and punters). I stayed on a Sunday night with my 7 year old. We eat decent food from the pub bar in the garden, which was family and dog friendly. The hotel is connected to the local Dorset brewery and the breakfast was great.

Friendly staff; good selection of beers and bar food. Dining in is also good but recommend booking. Nice garden. Can get busy, especially on sunny weekends and warm evenings.

I was attending the Blandford Georgian Fayre, which is one of, if not the busiest day in town. There was a great band playing in the beer garden, but the service at the bar was really slow and I was disappointed to discover that they had decided to do away with heir usual cocktail menu for the day. I really only experience the hotel bar and the beer garden so it's hard to judge the entire establishment, but the staff were friendly and polite, the atmosphere pleasant, but the drinks very expensive and hard to purchase.

A beautiful building set at the edge of town, the crown is a great place for lunch or dinner. The food is always good, and the staff are always freindly. I'd like to see some ales not made by Hall & Woodhouse though.

Newly refurbished bar and restaurant with some new coffee and menu ideas alongside. The prices help to pay for the renovations but food is now at least reasonable quality for the price and tbe beers are what you'd expect from the local Badger brewery. Some nice relaxed seating areas inside, dogs welcome and a very pleasant garden area for those rare sunny days. Safest family pub option in town.

I have been here a few times now for conferences/training — amazing venue and incredible food. Very polite staff — the hotel itself looks amazing and I will definitely be looking into a stay here soon.

This place is amazing it is a lively hotel with a gorgeous pup, restaurant and lounge down stairs. Although I 5hought on Saturdays and Fridays not so kid friendly. Besides that it's wonderful❤

Stayed here three nights with our dog. Staff friendly. Had three dinners in the bar area where dogs are allowed. There are a range of tables and comfy chairs and fires for cold weathers. Had different meals all three nights and all were very tasty and served in good time. Had breakfast in the bar area too, as we had the dog. Service dipped them. Extremely slow. Don't be in a hurry, tho food when it arrived, was ok. Room was pleasant but sound proofing not good.

A fantastic stay in this busy little through town in Dorset. A lovely warm welcome by happy staff, good food, good breakfast and great accomodation. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Stayed here for my birthday night as a treat. The room was spotless we also booked a meal for the night which was awesome and all the staff were just amazing. Special thanks to Gemma on reception and to Dean and Marion in the restaurant. P. S we are still working on the colouring in books.

I love the crown and pop in for a quiet coffee now and again. With friends I'll drop in for breakfast or lunch which is tasty and fresh. It's a great location with secure parking.

Big clean room furnished with period pieces. Found it nicely warmed when arrived. Excellent food.

Visited for lunch and opted for their tapas style small platter dishes which were both tasty and very nicely presented. Booking recommended as gets busy from 12.15 onwards. Limited parking but located in town so more parking elsewhere. Very good range of craft beers available.

Lovely hotel. Staff are very polite & welcoming. The rooms are beautiful & very family friendly. Would happily recommend to anyone. Lovely pub too.

Really great hotel. The decor goes well with the area and the little touches are lovely. Everything is thought out well. The mattress was comfortable and according to the hotel book is the best mattress in the world. Apparently the White House have the same! Breakfast is extremely good. There was fruit, pastries, cereals and cooked food. Had the full English which was delicious. I would definitely recommend the Crown Hotel.

We had booked a table for 12 plus two babies for a family lunch the day after our son's wedding and had asked if maybe a few flowers could be on the table to make it look special. This was done — table looked pretty — and high chairs provided. The service was good, food great and the staff were friendly and helpful. We shall definitely be returning and would not hesitate to recommend you — many thanks.

We enjoyed a family Sunday lunch in a spacious and traditionally appointed dining room enhanced by many portraits and photographs of local interest. The roasts were cooked to perfection, portions were generous and service was relaxed and efficient. Add to that a fine selection of wine and home made puddings and you have a most enjoyable occasion for all the family — highly recommended!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Crown. We were greeted warmly despite our late arrival and were encouraged to settle in and relax in the bar as we had driven for some time. The room was beautifully decorated, very stylish and comfortable with everything you can need. Lovely bathroom too! The breakfast was delicious — a wide range of buffet items and a great menu offering too. Special highlight was the honey on its comb. I'd really recommend staying here and look forward to coming back soon. Thank you!

As Blandford Forum's primary hotel The Crown has always been a focal point and played a central role in many of the town's events. In recent decades several major refurbishments and transitions in management have taken place, some less successful than others… but I'm incredibly happy to confirm that the most recent incarnation is by far the best! Re-opening in early 2017 the entire venue has been given a complete upgrade. Now featuring a beautiful and inviting bar with oak panels, an excellent menu and rooms which have been renovated with the utmost care to provide modern comfort but in a traditional country house style. Top marks!

Smoked salmon Benedict was cooked perfectly and rib eye steak with garlic butter was first class. Service was friendly and attentive. Surroundings were clean and well maintained. Only let down were desserts. Lemon tart was undercooked and spotted dick was very cold and hard. Overall was impressed but would reserve full judgement until next visit. 2 course dinner at £16.95 was worth a look as it included steak normally priced at £21 on its own.

A very nice hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We stayed as a family of five. Breakfast was great. The lounge and restaurant/bar across the corridor has a great atmosphere — located in the centre of Blandford Forum, walking distance to the town centre. Would definitely stay there again (although maintenance could be handled a little quicker).

Good location in the town and enough grounds for the children to play. Very polite staff who went the extra mile to ensure we were looked after.

Excellent festive menu. The pork belly and black print starter was amazing. Bread and butter pudding was lovely. The duck was good but not at the same level of deliciousness. Lovely decor and prompt service.

Don't stay here over Christmas 2013 as there is no breakfast provided. Guests have to bring a box of cereal with them and keep it in their rooms and buy a carton of milk to put in their mini bar. Doesn't sound like a luxury experience to me! They can't get the staff (they said). They will give you a discount as there is no breakfast though. Cheers The Crown Hotel.

Lovely hotel, full of character and history. Furnished in an modern, tasteful and up to date way, but still totally in keeping with the building. Great bar and fab outside space. Excellent value.

We've eaten in the Crown a few times and stopped in for drinks a few times more. It's a popular place in Blandford. There's a decent selection of beers and ciders and the food is great. Service has always been good, whether we've popped in for lunch, or celebrated an occasion with a dozen people. If the Sun's out, the beer garden is a brilliant place to have a few drinks. It isn't the cheapest restaurant/bar in Blandford, but then you wouldn't expect it to be when looking at the décor and menus.
