Beautiful views overlooking the beach. Fabulous lunch although I was informed the catch of the day was Monk fish, then got informed they didn't have any but I could have seas bass — then receiving Trout!
I tried to reserve dinner but got informed by an abrupt receptionist that due to shortage of staff only lunch was available. We were the only couple dining! I also asked to book into the spa but got informed it was residents only! There is no-one about so why not open it out to non residents?
The lunch waiter gave me someone else's bill after I had paid my own?
Menu is very minimal and staff even less!

We had the Afternoon Devon Tea to celebrate our 43rd Wedding anniversary and it was excellent. Lovely attentive staff and beautiful afternoon tea. We just wish the view across the bay wasn't obscured by the dirt & spray on the restaurant windows but there had been 2 days of bad storms before our visit.

Truly enjoyed the hotel last weekend! Great location, food and service. Rooms are nice and quiet!

Our stay at this hotel for Christmas was absolutely superb. All staff were amazing nothing too much trouble. The views from the dining room were spectacular and the food was excellent.
The beautiful beaches in the area make for fabulous photos and great walks.
The Christmas stockings on the door and gifts on all the tables Christmas morning were such a treat.
Most definitely return and recommend this hotel.

We had Christmas lunch here today, first Christmas away. Did not disappoint, the atmosphere, food and staff were amazing. All of the staff were so smiley, friendly and attentive. The Christmas lunch was so tasty, plenty of it and did not wait between courses. Beautiful views, rooms decorated beautiful. Thank you, we will be back.

I absolutely loved staying in this hotel, such lovely staff and helpful, felt so Comfortable. Great for families and romantic couples or even a stay just for yourself My most favourite would have to be the infinity heated pool outside so magical xxxx.

Just spent a fantastic evening celebrating a grown up 18th birthday. Great food and amazing staff, they went the extra mile and really could not have done more for us. Will definitely go back, highly recommend.

Fab location. Room 40: outstanding views over the bay and beaches; large balcony; smart bathroom with excellent shower; large bed; comfortably furnished, but definitely not chic. Very friendly & helpful staff. Good food at the a la carte restaurant, but some issues (asparagus soup in August is not seasonal food! ). I would come back, but probably in a cheaper room and eating in the bistro instead…

This is an idyllic sea view adult retreat hotel. Children are welcome there but I wouldn't call it a place for children.

Very nice place very chic and very British. Splendid view of the sea and possibility to descend at low tide directly from a small staircase to the outdoor pool. Breathtaking sunset. Only downside that explains the 4 stars: the Wi-Fi that is terribly slow with disconnection and 4G does not arrive there yet. More for a room at 420 CHF the terrace had not been cleaned/inspected for a long time as there were cobwebs being chairs and table. Otherwise the place is faultless with perfect buffet breakfast (toast, jams, fruit, croissant fruit juice, coffee or tea. )

Fantastic Hotel. Stayed here with my wife for our anniversary and were not disappointed. Very beautiful building and grounds that are all very well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff and incredible views out over the sea. Our room was huge and very well decorated. Also owe a massive thanks to the staff that collected some flowers from a local florist that I'd ordered and delivered them to the room as a surprise. Can't thank them enough for making it a great stay!

This is a review of the Pavilion restaurant. Dining room has fantastic views looking out over woolacombe bay Staff are very attentive and friendly. But the highlight is definitely the food (as it should be). Tastes as great as it looks. Perfect place to take someone on a special occasion.

My husband & I got married here recently & had exclusive use from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, it was like a big house party with all your favourite people & a wedding thrown in. Helen was our wedding planner from start to finish & nothing was too much trouble for her or the rest of the staff. The food was incredible & vegetarians, vegans & a coeliac were all catered for. All our guests commented on how stunning the hotel & its location were & on the food & the staff. We’ve booked in for next April to celebrate our first anniversary in style. Our flowers were from Sweetpeas & Sunflowers in Instow, the Dj was The Wedding Spinner from Ilfracombe, our Singer/Guitar player was Wayne Green from Ilfracombe & Wedding Belles from Westward Ho! did hair & make-up, Jon Malyn of Indigo Perspective was our photographer & we highly recommend all of them.

Went to the Restaurant for Evening Meal. Very sophisticated and posh fine dining meal. Excellent food at a great price. £50 per head roughly. Well presented and tasted exceptionally, beautiful Sunset view as well.

1st time at this hotel. I've been coming to woolacombe for over 50 years and always wanted to stay here. The staff are amazing. The room so clean and tidy. Food and drink very good. And the location is out of this world. My partner at the moment has breast cancer and the week before her chemo I take her away some where nice. We have been three places so far and Watermeet hotel has been by far the best. We will be back here for sure. Thank you Watermeet Hotel for a fantastic weekend xxx.

Devon cream tea lovely if two people going only get one tea too much for one person.

Great location on a clifftop overlooking a sheltered sandy beach. The hotel has been recently refurbished and has a very classy feel. The rooms are a good size and the food is excellent. Bed is comfy. Bathrooms great.

Good siting overlooking beach and ocean. Comfortable bedroom, large with commanding balcony. Dining and breakfast very good. No fridge in room. Wash basin had no plug arrangement. Quiet, adequate parking. Suggest over priced for that offered.

Although the hotel was nice and the staff attentive, our room which was more than adequate was certainly not worth £300 per night. There were two tepid bottles of water in the room, why no fridge? We had to have a family room, for two adults. We had requested twin bedded room. There was a large bed and a single one. When I pulled back the covers on the single bed, it was obvious the bottom sheet had not been changed from the previous occupant. In the bathroom, there was no dish for the soap, the sink could not be filled, the water just drained away; so had to wash under a running tap. The food was good. Could have more choice for vegetarian, although having been a lifelong vegetarian myself, This hotel is not alone in this respect. The situation overlooking the sea is spectacular. However, will probably look for a hotel in future offering better value than the Watersmeet.

First class location good food.

The food in the pavillion is lovely and well deserved the title of fine dining. I'm yet to taste the coffee but if it's as good as I expect I would award 6 stars.

Great friendly staff especially when 10 of us turned up for a light lunch n a couple of drinks.

Just back from short break. And, have to say, couldn't wish for more! Room, service, views, food, ambiance all first class. Such a lovely relaxing stay. Can't wait to return.

Great food, nice rooms and good service. It's a bit on the pricey side but the view makes up for it.

Terrible. Booked (and paid for) a room months ago and arrived from Australia to be told they didn't have the booking, or the payment. Proceeded to tell us we could have a room for 75 pounds for the night (we had booked for 6 nights). After being shown to the room we discovered no heating, no lights, no shower, a front door which hardly shut, and no apology. We decided to leave and head to Gloucester where we have got a much, much nicer room at The New County for 45 pounds a night. Only a one star rating as zero star isn't available!

Myself and my partner stayed for an evening and we had a fantastic room with the most comfortable four poster bed and a newly refurbished bathroom that was stunning. We had lovely sea views from our room you could even lay in bed and see the sea … we had a bottle of champagne in our room too and the price we paid also included dinner.
The dinner in the bistro was one of the best meals I've ever had I couldn't fault it and the same for the breakfast that was enjoyable too.
If I was to find any criticism it was the service at lunchtime waiting to order our cream tea there was a lack of staff it seemed but maybe that's because it was out of season … my scone itself was amazing.
The beach outside of the hotel is just perfect. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely location with stunning view. The bar area is impressive and the staff are friendly. Drinks are expensive : £4.50 for hot chocolate, £4 for coffee. A fine experience, not an informal one.

Stayed 2 days at this lovely hotel. The bar, bistro and restaurant are all excellent. I enjoyed a dip in the pool and the hot tub. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The only thing I missed was a shaving mirror. I will definitely stay here when visiting North Devon.

Our stay at your hotel was fantastic. The room was superb, very clean and comfortable. The meals were scrumptious and the service was impeccable.

I like Watersmeet Hotel & Restaurant which people can access by both car, and public transport, trains and bus services. When I used public transports (trains and bus services) to get there from London by myself realiably, safely, keeping receving travel information kindly from this hotel. I went there with my husband by car also. Both travels were smooth. I love to stay in this hotel. Because this hotel staffs were very friendly and very kind caring for the guests, rooms were clean and both breakfast and dinner were very delicious whenever I have stayed in the hotel, very well organized garden and very special dramatic location. Both adults and children enjoyed staying there and doing activities which were made by different natural beautififul natures. I am looking foward to staying in Watersmeet Hotel & Restaurant again.

You certainly can't beat the dramatic coastal setting of the Watersmeet Hotel — it is quite spectacular. We were warmly welcomed at Reception, and shown our lovely room, at the side of the hotel, with a partial sea view (which we knew would be like that). The room was elegant, spotless and had all the amenities we needed, including nice chocolate biscuits on the tea tray! The double bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, the towels sparkling white, the grooming products high quality (only hair conditioner was missing). At six o'clock we had drinks in the bar, overlooking the beautiful Woolacombe Beach in the distance. Ben, the maitre-d, could have smiled once in a while, but the wines well served at the right temperature. Not cheap though! But then this is a 4-star establishment. We chose to have the Bistro menu in the lovely restaurant, and enjoyed the risotto and Italian spaghetti. The wines by the glass were very very expensive and we probably should have ordered a bottle. But two of us wanted red wine, and two of us white. We'll know next time! Breakfast this morning was everything one would expect from a top notch hotel. The food was excellent, though the cups a bit small for serious coffee and tea drinkers. We needed constant refills. We greatly enjoyed our brief stay at the Watersmeet, and would certainly want to come again.

Make sure your hot chocolate tastes like it should! And inside it smelt like wet dog, they say you can't take dogs inside (i didn't).

Really enjoyed my 3 night stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room and ensuite were clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. Wi-Fi was a bit slow but fine for emails and reading the news.

We have been to Watersmeet many times, the last time was 3 years ago. The staff are still fantastic, views amazing, food great but boy there are economies being made! We have been here a week and our bed has not been changed once. The towels are literally falling to pieces. The area around the pool is in desperate need of weeding. It really is disappointing to see these economies put in place and guests this week have been talking about them, including people who have been coming for many more years than we have.
