We stayed at The George Hotel over Christmas. The room was really comfy, warm and immaculately presented with everything provided for our stay. A beautiful Hotel which has been restored to a very high standard with staff that cannot do enough to make you feel at home. Perfect…

Beautify decorated large double bedrooms with well equipped shower room. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A good breakfast to set you up for the day.

Loved our stay at The George. Mark our host, extremely obliging and friendly. Our room superb. Excellent shower and luxury shampoo etc. Nice cosy bar. Our room overlooking the Square. If I were in the business of giving stars I would give The George 5.

Clean bar polite bar staff good variety of lagers ales and spirits.

Went in for coffee. Pretty place but service and offerings were lacklustre. Usual assortment of coffees and some decent teas but nothing else; no cakes or tea cakes or if there were, they were not offered. Price was reasonable but will go down the road to the Corn Dolly next time. Disappointed.

Quaint hotel, historic. Easy parking. Friendly staff and on par value.

We stayed at the George hotel to attend my best friends wedding, 22nd — 24th June 2018. Firstly, Mark who runs it is a very friendly guy with a good sense of humour. His background is from events and working in London 5* hotels. You can see the little touches he brings to the George from those experiences. The room we stayed in (14) was absolutely stunning. Very clean and tidy. The choice of decor fitted with the location. The bed is one of the comfiest I’ve every slept in. Breakfast, cooked by Mark, was delicious and as with the bedroom, the breakfast room was also well decorated. The table decor was beautiful. The bar is cosy (you will most likely end up making friends) and offers a very good selection of beverages and snacks. Again, you can see he's brought a piece of London down to the countryside. Overall, one of the best small hotels I’ve ever stayed in and I've been in a few. I've also stayed in most of the 5* hotels in London and those little touches he brings just adds to the stay. I will definitely be recommending this hotel and coming back.

Great value. Great host. Great food. All round excellent. Must be good. I came back and plan to again. Breakfast is very good and slept well. Very clean and lime I say the staff are a credit. Would recommend this as one of the best places to not only stay but eat. As someone who spends most of his life in hotels I actually look forward to staying here not just for the food the the welcome greeting that you get.

Booked for a Christmas meal at The George Hotel with family and on arrival was created with a warm, friendly smile. We ordered drinks​ and were shown to our table. The service was excellent and the food really didn't disappoint. Will definitely go back again.

Good service and friendly staff. All ways call in for coffee on Saturday to meet the rest of the gang. Mark has done a tremdous job since taking over.

The food here is excellent. The staff are friendly. Well worth a visit.

I stayed 1 night while on business in the area and have some good and bad points.
So the bad points was it was so cold in there, no heating on, even the towels was damp.
I was in bed by 9 to keep warm.
At breakfast it was a discussion brought up by all guests eating breakfast who all said the same.
The plus point was the staff were freindly and the two girls in the bar was excellent and I could not fault the food O had on the night.
For breakfast I only had scambled egg on toast which was good, so cant comment on full english.
So for being so cold its a thumb down from me.

Ideally located in the centre of this interesting market town, the facilities of the George Hotel are second to none … from the high standard of the contemporary guest rooms to the excellent staff service. Quality and presentation of restaurant meals is another plus, all of which contributes to an ideal place to stay be it overnight or for an extended period.

Cannot say enough about this delightful hotel. My Husband I were visiting my Uncle, who lives in South Molton, and stayed at the George, and I am so glad we did. We felt very welcomed as soon as we walked in. Our room was the superior double overlooking the Market Place. Very spacious with en-suite. Very bright and spotlessly clean. I have to say the bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in in a hotel for long time. We decided to go for a walk in the afternoon, but it was a chilly, blowy, August afternoon, so went back to the lounge in the hotel and sat and had a coffee. I am not a coffee drinker usually, but just felt like one, and I have to say that, again, was one of the best coffees I have had. My Uncle had booked a table for the three of us in the evening, and the food was absolutely first class. I had the burger, and to me, that is how a burger should be, and my Husband and Uncle had the fish and chips. Do not mind paying a little bit more if the food is that good. Very very attentive staff throughout the meal and our stay. First class breakfast, quick service and hot — even the toast was hot — which is a first! Sorry I have rambled on here, but I loved it, and will certainly come back and stay again.

We had lunch in the hotel bar. It is nicely decorated and pleasant to relax in. The staff are helpful and attentive. I was impressed with the quality of the food. We chose the 2 courses for £15 lunch menu and found that it was plenty without feeling stuffed. The chocolate bread and butter pudding desert was particularly delicious.

Everything was great. The food was phenominal, great all-around experience.

Excellent service. Food was amazing. Beds were comfortable. Very clean and quaint.

Rooms good. Parking good.
