Wow, what a nice surprise, I was expecting a standard pub curry, I was given the best curry I've had in a long time. Go there if you like curry. The staff and management were really happy and friendly, and the Blonde Ambition is a good Ale. Nigel

Rather expensive 4 what it we had, ie lunch. Ordered a baguette each, which was nice, but got crisps instead of chips. Service friendly tho.

Dropped in for a pint tonight. Wish I had gone elsewhere. Only choice of two ales. Asked for a pint from one of them. It was more froth than beer and was dumped in front of me. No conversation from the batman who just took my proffered £5 and returned my change again without comment. I waited but then had to ask for my froth to be topped up. Begrudgingly taken and topped up frothier. Not a good experience and not for the first time.

Wonderful rooms. Everything clean and at the right place. Breakfast very well done. It’s been perfect

Lovely food. Saag paneer was lacking in chunks of paneer. Some mix-ups/delays with order but put right in the end.

Be aware that the 'all you can eat' for 9. 99 on Sunday is not. It's a rip off. A limited menu, which is to be expected — choice of two starters, choice of two main (chicken korma or Madras) plus a (good) Nan bread. Ask for any more (from your choice), you can't have it, portion sizes are small. I eventually got another two small onion bhajis (my starter) with no side salad, which was added to the bill, full price. I queried my bill, And was told they thought it odd too. But no change was made to my bill

Lovely place, clean tidy friendly staff. Really nice food would recommend staying there

Would definatly recommend! Lovely atmosphere and great staff! Very nice and clean room with a very comfy and cosy bed, and to top it off a good breakfast in the morning. Only one slightly negative point was that the breakfast time started at 8am which I would have preferred an earlier time as I had to be up and out for work early.

Staff were friendly and the pub was very dog friendly. Decent selection of drinks although the thatchers didn't taste too good (not bad enough to kick up a fuss about). Nice atmosphere and environment.

Tried the new 'indian menu' on 27/12/17. Shambolic. Had to ask for cutlery, plates ourselves. Food was mosty cold, took 90 mins to be served. Didn't get all the dishes we ordered. Friend ordered a veggie dish, had chicken in. Need I say anymore. No apologies from staff. Ruined our night.

I was in the George Inn and indeed without greed I can say it made my day. A drink that did not stink, a meal that was real and staff that were a laugh. Yarf!

We stayed for just one night room was lovely and comfy. The only bad points about the room I would say was that the water was kept on the shelf up above the toilet with the glasses lip face down, which I felt wasn't very hygienic. Also the coffee was in a jar so who knowa how many people have had that before. Otherwise lovely stay and would recommend.

On first arrival it's a lovely pub in a nice village decore is nice and fairly clean. BUT the place is over run with druggies they are queuing to get into the toilet cubicle and all you can hear is snorting. My advice stay away.

Good location, very good reasonably priced food. Well furnished and good back ground music

Not local to the area, popped in for a quick drink and was appalled. Served by THE most MISERABLE and unfriendly man who thrust our drinks on the bar. We ordered a pint which happened to be the end of the barrel and after it was changed he just threw the new half on top of the old end of the barrel. We were then charged £10 (ish) for a pint and a 125ml glass of wine! When this was queried the miserable git threw the receipt on the bar with not a word then walked off. Terrible place, would advise anyone to avoid at all costs.

REA the landlady is fab, goes out of her way for you. Service is great. Food so tasty using local produce. Does a huge amount for charity and the community too.

Service slow and food was terrible. Would not go back. Also fairly expensive.

Had the cod. Very good, plus salmon and trout starter.

Disgusting that The George car park has an automatic number plate reader. Parked there at 6:30 in the evening and it cost me £61. 80 (that was even the early payment! ). Just moved to the area, certainly won't be receiving my custom!

Nice clean rooms, helpful staff and good food definitely recommend

Prefered it before the refurb.

We found the George to ideally suit our needs for a short stay in North Devon. It a cosy small hotel with clean comfortable rooms. It has the added advantage of a real pub bar, and a restaurant which serves an excellent breakfast and has a good dinner menu. What made our stay more memorable was the friendly and very helpful host Reena for whom nothing was too much trouble. John and Madeleine, Australia.

Little disappointed with our stay, due to the hot weather, can we advise a ceiling fan to be put into the room. If we open the windows, too much noise from traffic. And with SQ alarm system across the road going off both nights of our stay, we didn't get much sleep. Bathroom and room delightful, as were the staff. The only other problem was the Tuesday Night Steak Meal, which was advertised as a Steak Chips and Salad, steak was beautiful as so was the sauce, although had to wait for the sauce, the chips seemed to be the end of the frozen packet, which were all of the bits and were very very dry. Advertised salad was dried up rocket only, no cucumber or onions or tomatoes. Ordered onion rings which we were charged for, but didn't arrive, which we had to ask for our money back. Just a few problems, but thought we had to bring it to your attention. Still enjoyed our stay. Steve and Heather

Visited late on Sunday afternoon after a long walk. The food was delicious and service excellent. It's unusual to find such a good choice of fresh, seasonal dishes. We ordered a mix of Sunday lunch, ciabattas, salads, pasta of the day and deserts and everyone loved it. The dog was also welcome in the bar. I plan to return but next time will book into the rooms too which looked great.
