For the price you pay you can't complain, booked two double rooms bed were comfy, rooms had everything we needed and reception was very helpful, even booking us a taxi. Rooms did get very hot at night and we didn't notice the fan in one of the cupboards. Large breakfast buffet with loads to choose from. There is plenty of parking around the back of the hotel. Overall great value and perfect for a few nights.

Really uncomfortable mattresses! All springy and err, moved rooms once to get away from it and that mattress was near enough as bad, full of loud chavs drinking and walking right outside your room shouting at 3am in the morning!

Maggie was a fabulous hostess! The room was wonderful catering for all our needs. Not forgetting the lovely Lauren an amazing bar tender. We will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to all. A huge thank you for a warm welcome and very pleasurable stay. X.

Short walk out of the city centre. Clean n tidy. Good value. The all you can eat breakfast is great value. The variety of choice is exceptional. Would stay again.

We would like to express how fab this hotel was for us. We was looking for a cheap hotel just to crash after a night out and we wasn't expecting much for the price that we paid. But honestly we were so surprised. The staff was so friendly on reception, polite and funny. Our room was lovely, very simple and spacious. Nice and warm, just what we needed. Bed was lovely and comfortable, bathroom was massive and very very nice. Got breakfast included which was great. We have already said that if we ever need a hotel In Derby then we will always come back to the International.

Mixed reactions, Friday night was very good and the girl on reception (Leanne) was extremely heloful. Saturday's breakfast left a lot to be desired but was suffucient. We were out all day Saturday but when we got back to the hotel around 9.30pm it was appalling. There was a function on, there were large groups of lads hanging around outside the front door, the reception was full of other large groups of mainly lads and even more on the stairway. We were staying on the 2nd floor and there were people all the way up there. It was quite intimidating. If we had not already booked in at that hotel and had just arrived that night, we would have turned round and found somewhere else. One of the bedroom doors was open and there was at least 7 people inside. The noise from the function downstairs was really loud the walls were vibrating. (Although, in fairness, this did stop bang on 12.00 midnight). People were up and down the stairs all night knocking on doors. Opening and slamming them, shouting across the hallways. This carried on until around 4.00am when the night porter came and warned them about the noise. We asked to speak to the manager about it on Sunday morning and were advised that she (Maggie) did not come in till noon. Due to the adverse weather conditions we could not wait until then, but were told she would ring us when she arrived. So far we have heard nothing. We will not be staying here again.

An incredibly average hotel. Was clean and tidy and the facilities were okay. Breakfast was nothing special and the beds were not comfortable.

Bad service. The Women Behind reception seem to have a severe attitude problem the rooms were not clean the atmosphere on friendly I would definitely not recommend staying here avoid as you can get better rooms at a cheaper price all over Derby.

Disgusting hotel. My room was on the top floor and needs urgent attention. Must have issues with dampness as mould is growing around the bed and bath/shower. Radiators don't work and it was freezing, plus bed linen wasn't clean and damp. Car park doesn't look safe and seems to be shared with industrial units.

Clean but run down. The rooms were very hot with the radiator turned down so the window had to be fully open. Unfortunately the room was next to busy traffic all night. Breakfast was nice and the staff friendly.

Good value for money. Friendly staff. Good after sales service. Very clean. Rooms have not been decorated for quite a while and could do with a lick of paint, although this problem is being addressed with a refurbishment programme which had begun during my stay.

Going through refurb so looks a little old at moment. Food is good rooms are clean. Enjoyed our stay.

Derby first and only true sports bar. Saw Steve Collins sat 16 the Dec 17 Awesome.

Spot on, behind house staff was fantastic, needs a new boiler, worth staying for the bar meals alone,

Just about adequate is about the most I can say about the hotel and that is if you are only staying one night and are out most of the evening. The bedroom was quite rundown with wallpaper pealing off in places, the shower had virtually no water pressure and was little more than a trickle. The breakfast was ok and as much as you might want.

Heineken a bit flat. Did not try food. But good varied menu.

The staff is pretty nice (not all of them) and the hotel is clear (some details are neglected). Some problems in fixtures.

Very lovely staff bar jack brown was very friendly mixers of drink and food perfect more than happy with services off hotel.

Was a great hotel and a comfortable stay. Breakfast was good. Although it is currently going through a refurb, it will look fantastic when complete.

The location is quite hidden away and is not on a very appealing street. Check in was a hassle. Had to wait 5 minutes before we were seen to as they were on a toilet break. The hotel is like a maze and we were given room 302. The lift was not working and it took us ages to find the room as there were barely any signs around. When we got to the room, I wished we hadn't. It looked nothing like the refurbished pictures and the room was awful. It was dirty, old and we had dead flies in every light. The window was cracked, our toilet would not flush and the bed sheets were less than appealing. I would not recommend staying here at all. My partner is disabled and there is only one parking space right at the front of the hotel which is barely labeled. We couldn't have it however as taxis and work vans were occupying it at every minute of the day. If you want to stay at a hotel, don't stay at this one.

Okay for short-stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast choices.

I feel totally ripped of as I booked a suite and they fobbed me off with a normal room. Do not go on the pictures online as they the rooms are nothing liek as advertised. I checked out an hour after being there and they refused a refund. The manager a rather rude impolite and standoffish woman looked as though she couldnt care less. room was a mess and now im off to another hotel and wouldnt ever recommend the place to anyone.

Stayed one night at the international walked to city centre bars and restaurants, we did get a taxi back, the room was nice and bed linen was clean, staff on reception were so helpful and friendly, breakfast was good, and again the staff were helpful and professional, thanks for a good stay we will come back.

Great place, really supportive staff and a fantastic atmosphere. Would recommend for anything hosting any sort of event. Staff were excellent and there when needed and required, very helpful.

Good place to stop, great value for money. Just outside of the town and convenient.

Good cheap hotel but has its fair share of problems. Nice and helpful staff.

Clean and comfy. Very friendly staff. About a fifteen minute walk into central Derby. The attached Sports Bar does food and is fairly quiet.

They really must have spruced up the hotel from the photo's they have put up because its nothing like them. The hotel is old, tired and run-down and is only really a contractors/workers hotel. The lift looked as if it might fail, everywhere was in dire need of a lick of paint and woodwork repair. Our room, 206 looked out onto the escape staircase out the back which the workers used in their break, looking straight into the room that had no privacy (Venetian blinds that we either up or down) The bathroom was OK and it was comfortable enough, Spices restaurant which I think forms part of the hotel was good and the breakfast was also good. Just don't expect too much.

For what you pay its alright. Our room was modernised with a nice set up. TV and views over the terraced streets of Derby. Breakfast was a bit grim, my egg must have been deep fried. The egg white looked like a thorn bush. The bar next door hosts big televised sports events which gets lots of local attention. Cheap booze, but tread carefully where you sit when the local Nottingham vs Derby is on.

A hotel that deserves the stars of my review, unwelcoming ambience, breakfast buffet really too empty rooms with zero amenities. Not recommended.

Not the hotel it used to be! Changed hands and now : There is no restaurant (despite their web site claiming one) Indian restaurant (good food) accessible from but not owned by the hotel. There is no bar owned by the hotel (bar accessible from hotel but independent of it) The breakfast is served in the function room (also run by separate owner) — when we stayed the room was filthy. No service (no staff even present! ) at Breakfast. Breakfast well cooked but made with extremely poor quality ingredients. Make your own toast — took about 10 minutes and disgusting flabby bread Tea and Coffee disgusting. Somebody had thrown up at the entrance on the Saturday night and it stayed there all day on Sunday (Gross! : ( NO cooked breakfast available on Mondays! Only Breakfast cereal, and toast.

The food was lovely but the service was appalling. The poor waitress spent the whole evening apologising to everyone for all things out of her control. A wedding was being held in the hotel and the music was so loud that we could have had a disco in the restaurant! We were kept waiting to be shown to our table and then again for each course. Our side dishes finally arrived just as we were finishing our main course. Unfortunately we were not the only ones to have a bad experience that evening and we were all able to share our experience on the way out. They fared much worse than us! The food was lovely but unfortunately could not make up for the terrible service and atmosphere. I am sorry to say I would not think of returning.

Booked into hotel 22 March 2008. Born in Derby living in London. Obviously familiar with local area. As a youngster growing up felt this hotel to be rather plush — how wrong I was. Family live locally also covenient to city centre. Hotel in need of a GOOD renervation-especially carpets that appear tired and worn. Hotel satisfactory and and clean. Breakfast was good, room was clean. TV too small for room that husband and I slept. Carparking was down a very steep hill and felt that if I went down would not be able to get back up again owing to the intermittent snowy weather. We decided to park in front of the hotel. A satisfactory hotel just about scraping the 3 star.
