We loved our cozy room, the view, and the beautiful surroundings. The breakfast was very good and the staff at the restaurant were exceptional. The Wi-Fi is poor here but if you have data package, the reception is excellent. Dislikes:Housekeepers did not do much to make up the room. The duvet was too small for two people. The Wi-Fi was very poor. We had to use our own data package which was a problem for us as we had limited data.

Beautiful and quiet retreat with a reasonably priced bar and amazing food. The rooms are well priced and booking mid week breaks and absolutele steal due to the Windermere ferry pass and free cream tea. Even at full price I highly recommend this stay for a peaceful getaway.

Now firmly on our short list of places we will continue to use in the Lakes. The friendliest of staff and excellent food all in a fantastic setting.

Haven’t stayed at the hotel but we dined at the restaurant twice for dinner. The first time we had a brilliant experience, friendly staff and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend the fudge brownie for dessert. However, we came back a second time and it seemed that with a different chef the food was not up to scratch. Poorly cooked steak and burnt (not caramelised) on the outside which was disappointing.

Stayed five nights in late October, our second time at this hotel. Great views out the dining room and lounge windows. Stayed in the Grizedale room, also great views. Food was great, had dinner in the dining room twice. Easy access to a good part of Cumbria, close to the ferry across the lake. Good walking to Hawkshead as well. Be careful on the road in, it gets narrow! Clean and comfortable. Only one nit, not the hotel's fault, the Wi-Fi is lacking, but I believe that is just the area's service, not worth dinging a star at all. Since this is our second stay, it goes without saying that we would go back.

We stayed last weekend and were lucky enough to have the Grizedale room. Lovely comfortable 4 poster! Are breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, superb! I only ever eat battered fish and chips in good restaurants, not keen on the takeaway variety. The chef did the best I have had. The lamb on the second night was again lovely. Breakfasted on poached smoked haddock with a poached egg on top. Mind-blowing. Happy, friendly place with great staff. Will be back. I forgot to mention the views from the terrace and bedroom. Spectacular, peaceful, lovely.

No complaints at all. The location is ideal and the Grizedale room is too! We arrived to our chocolate covered strawberries which were immense and the staff were great. Will definitely be back in future. If youre into hikes/walking, then consider checking out claithe heights.

We came here for afternoon tea after visiting beatrix potters house. The scones and jam were divine.

Nice country hotel restaurant in beautiful grounds. Lunch menu a little limited and no sunday roast, with food and drink at tourist prices. Service and food was good. There is another country pub in the village if you are visiting for the hill top (Beatrix potter) national trust site, but they are very limited food hours compared to the hotel.

Went for lunch with our toddler on Sunday after visiting Beatrix Potter's house. Very pleasant meal, good portions, friendly staff and lovely views. If it's sunny make sure you sit outside! Only downside was that it was quite expensive (hotel prices) but as it was the only place that was open to eat nearby we didn't mind.

Lovely hotel with fantastic views all around, and friendly and helpful staff. Sawrey House Hotel is sparkling clean and smells fresh like build yesterday. Great selection on breakfast and throughout the day. All this comes at a very reasonable price including breakfast. I look forward to comeback again. Highly recommended!

We didn't stay here over night, just had meal here. I would say it's the best fish and chips I've ever had.

Stunning location, food was chief prepared & first class, service was good even though it was a busy time of the day. The price is reasonable for quality food, service & stunning location we would recommend to friends & family.

Just had a really lovely short stay at Sawrey House, our second visit, and it was better than we remembered! The rooms are clean and comfortable with amazing views of Esthwaite Water and the surrounding countryside. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We will definitely be back!

Just had a fantastic Easter Sunday here. Great food, friendly service and a great location with amazing views. Definitely call in to the tea room if you visit hill top and have a cream tea! We're going back to stay in July and can't wait!

You have the setting and the hotel but oh my gosh the tea room. Losing covers by not serving sandwiches and disappointed customers leaving a lovely place. The guy how served us was pleasant and helpful we had cream tea was nice and nice view of the lake. Was a funny experience.
