Had a lovely stay at Leeming House Hotel. Spacious, comfy room with doors leading out to patio and gardens to the Lake and fantastic views. Incredible food, real fires, friendly staff and dog friendly.

We recently had our wedding held at Leeming House and we can not thank all of the staff enough! They did an amazing job and even our guests mentioned it to us too! Amazing grounds, food and accommodation. We will definitely be returning! Thank you 💒

Beautiful location — on the edge of lake Dog friendly hotel — £20 for the dog to stay …. You don’t get anything for this though. Friendly, helpful staff, would definitely return.

Everything about the place is amazing, especially the way the staff doing everything that they can to make sure your stay is perfect. The views are amazing, highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful place and location, gorgeous food and lovely staff!

The one on the left was the afternoon tea advertised with real fire. The one on the right was the “afternoon tea” given — no resemblance, no fire and charged £60! Wrote an email of complaint and 5 days later no response despite several phone calls!

Fantastic location not too far from the motorway, plenty of places within easy reach, the hotel room was spacious and comfortable, the restaurant food was exceptional, but best of all the staff were brilliant, easy to speak to, very helpful and friendly, from the concierge at reception, the housekeeping, through to restaurant waiter/waitress/manager and a very nice gentleman (who could have been "hotel manager) who stopped to say hello. There are areas in the grounds to walk by yourself or with your dog, yes this is a dog friendly hotel aswell 😀

Unbelievable views staff were excellent.

The hotel is appreciated but definitely worth the money! Fantastic, atmospheric with a beautiful view. Controlled sentences in the restaurant are a real treat for the palate! Very polite concession, the staff took care of everything from the serving of starters to ensure that our glasses do not run out of wine, everything at the highest level. We highly recommend it!

When we stayed at the Leeming hotel we was very disappointed, our room was in need of a major revamp. The outside door was rotten, there was weeds all over the patio area and the chairs and table where broken. We ate in the restaurant one night the food was ok but when we requested a child’s menu we was told there wasn’t one and our daughter had to have one of the 3 adult options available, and pay full price. I wouldn’t recommend for the price you pay u will find a much nicer B&b. I tried to complain on the McDonald hotel website but it’s not easily done at all, makes me wonder why.

We have just returned from a wonderful short break at Leeming House. This beautiful Georgian hotel is ideally located on the edge of Ullswater, and we were lucky enough to have a balcony room overlooking the extensive gardens and lake. The rooms are very well appointed and of a luxurious standard. Due to Covid 19, we did some research beforehand and got a prior impression that the hotel was taking the situation seriously. On arrival, this was confirmed to our total satisfaction. They could not have planned things better, and the staff were impeccable with their hygiene measures, so we felt totally secure. The set mealtimes for each guest worked to ensure that there were never too many guests in the dining room at once, and there was good distancing between tables. Although predominantly table service, there was also a member of staff on hand to assist with any buffet requirements at breakfast.
On the subject of food, the breakfasts and main meals were just excellent. We love our food and the quality, choice and presentation was top notch, to the extent where the evening meals would put many more widely-known fine dining restaurants to shame. This chef certainly knows what he is doing! The wine list was also excellent, with some well-chosen staple offerings, complimented by some interesting alternative selections.
What really made the difference to our stay was the friendliness and quality of the staff. We couldn’t have asked for more.

A fabulous 4 night staycation at this lovely hotel. All safety measures in place and the staff and service were both faultless! A delicious menu and great wine list too! The most comfortable beds and dog friendly too! The afternoon tea is the best I’ve tried! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Just attended a wedding at Leeming house and had an amazing time. Hotel is in such a beautiful setting, lovely food, good service and there’s a real country house, but relaxed feel about the hotel. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice hotel in a beautiful position on the shore of lake Ullswater.

We arrived early on a Sunday and was told our room was ready. Lovely. Sarah on reception showed us around the hotel then helped with our cases to our room. She asked if we liked it. It was fabulous. Garden room with fabulous views. Only spoilt by the weather. Still lovely though.
The room was very large and spacious. With a few extras included.

Would not recommend stayed one night with a dog service was terrible no staff to serve at bar and waited a long time for food. Also confusion where we could eat with our dog different staff members had different information for us. Did not feel dog friendly and no dog bowl etc in room. Complained on checking out and still waiting on the manager to contact. Very disappointed would not return paid a lot for a pretty view.

Lovely setting in the window over looking the lake. Afternoon tea was fantastic — very fresh bread and light scones. Down side no one came to clear our table or ask if we wanted a doggy bag. And when we paid there seemed to be a problem with the alarm on the main door due to power cut which all the staff seemed distracted by and a member of staff just handed us the bill never asked if everything was ok — if fact never spoke not even a thank you — So birthday treat at local hotel a little disappointed with standard of customer service.

Brilliant staff and considerate to people's dietary choices. Loved my vegan food from them and there Vegan BLT made with Tofu was delicious and so was my starter, main and desert for a friends and client's wedding was impressive and did not disappoint. All the Staff were nice. Staff members that stood out were David, Maria and Madalina. Thank you for making the wedding special.

Absolutely recommend Leeming house. We were lucky enough to get married there in 2012 after finding the hotel by accident when we nearly ran out of petrol. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the staff were amazing in every way x can't wait to return, hopefully one day soon.

Been here twice, one for a meal that was on offer and got charged full price plus had to pay for a small bottle of water which was £5! second time I brought my mum for a afternoon tea for her birthday, we were booked in to find that we had to wait as all tables were not cleaned and our table was not set up! then for the receptionist to deal with other people that pushed in front of us then to answer the phone not once but twice before she even asked to help us! Rude! and to top it off we booked another offer to be told we were paying full price! We didn’t pay full price in the end! but don’t put offers on if you are going to charge everyone full price the amount of people they have done this to! Not good!

Really Lovely building, rooms are spotless and the whole place is very well looked after. It just lacks… atmosphere. This sounds a bit silly but when we checked in it was deadly quiet, no music, nothing and didn't create the best first impression. There also doesn't appear to be any hotel info in the rooms — I was looking for a file with info about our stay but there was nothing which added to our confusion on arrival. The bar/ lounge is well set out but there is an older feel to this place which may not suit a younger audience. We went for dinner in pooley bridge then had a drink in the hotel bar. Beds comfy and rooms great!

Great place and was given excellent customer service by one of the lady receptionists. 2 miles away from the waterfalls and has a nice lake-side view.

It's a nice enough place, the room had a few bits that could be 'touched up' bits of flaky paint. Let down on the food, however. It certainly leaves a lot to be desired.

Went here for a birthday treat from my partner, the room was lovely the shower was amazing but in general the main rooms need a little attention was very tired needs a little tlc. We had booked an evening meal and at £45 per head very disappointing not worth the money and we could not enjoy the meal we had because of the flies, I did mention this and asked that the window be shut but I was told it would be too hot, I would rather be hot than have to chase a million flies off my food every second. Breakfast was quite tasteless especially as it said everything was locally sourced and again flies everywhere.
Will not be returning.
On the plus side this hotel is in the most beautiful setting.

View fantastic, room dusty, food and drink very expensive. Dining service poor. Booked two nights only stayed 1 and to top it all they were cleaning out septic tank and it stank!

Would have been 5star but the view from the room is not nice. But we would book again and try to get a room with a first floor balcony. Breakfast is the best meal of the day. Evening meal is a bit lacking in sustenance, al a carte, and the wine list is way out of our price range lol. Would recommend this place though for that special birthday or anniversary if you want something special.

A well maintained period property in a great location and a stunning view for rooms facing the lake. Hotel is well managed but does not have to much to offer other than the nice rooms, restaurant and a lounge. I must say the food was mostly well executed at breakfast and dinner except for one room service order at peak hour which was very poor. The lounge is very relaxing with fireplaces, games, books and the lovely staff waiting on you for drinks & food. Staff are mixed abilities but all very helpful. We went as a couple and used it as our base to explore Cumbria, relax and recharge. Recommended!

Very welcoming, great scenic views and tasty food. Rooms are to a great standard and warm as we landed through the February snowstorm. All round very pleasant staff.

Room excellent, service from reception staff good. Restaurant staff attentive but food poor. Breakfast never cooked by experienced staff as overcooked.

Beautiful location, lovely rooms, excellent staff. Hotel manager David was very attentive, room was beautiful with balcony and gorgeous view. Lovely selection at breakfast, excellent dinner. Staff very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble but not in your face. Nice sitting rooms to relax in with log fires, lovely peaceful setting with stunning gardens to walk in. Will definitely be back.

Good country house hotel. Excellent room and bath room. Some rooms have fantastic views. Very comfortable lounge with log fire for the occasional rainy day in the Lake District. Great views from this room also. Beautiful garden leading down to lake Ullswater. Helpful and efficient reception staff. Full English breakfast and cold buffet. IPA available on draught and selection of bottled beers and of course wines and spirits. However the only food available after 6pm is the dinner in the main restaurant at £35 for 2 courses and £45 for 3, pp and eating like this over several evenings is hard work when you may prefer a steak or curry!

Exceptional views of Ullswater. I attended a wedding in a marquee outside the venue and it was brilliant. Only downside was how expensive the drinks were. £8 for a glass of wine!

Very rude costumer service, especially Madilina and Maria at the breakfast who was telling us Britishers what English tea is, the chef does not know how to cook, you cant just decorate grass in a plate and expect it to taste good, the three course meal worth 45 quid had to be sent back in thrice to be replaced. The restaurant smells like old fried fish and burnt cooking oil. The rooms are clean, spacious and beautifully decorated yet the surroundings smell like cow dung and there is always loads of flies entering your room just as you open the balcony window you cant even sleep in peace. The hot water in the taps is very slow so it takes two three times the time it usually takes when we shower at home. However the operations manager Lyndsey and a man with glasses at dinner are very nice, the reception staff is very cooperative and welcoming.

The staff was racist! Specially the morning staff Romanian lady. The food was served cold, and nothing is made according to the menu. No truffles in the Gnocchi. Falafel was runny, it didnt even taste or look round to be a falafel. I was told that this is how things are done in england. These idiots treated me like a third class citizen whereas I am british just because my skin is brown! The room with balcony no. 2 had one million flies anf smelt like cow dunk. The hotel haf no milk for tea. The only thing is the location of the hotel. The chefs differs on every meal. One day they serve two sausage in the morning platter and tge next day they serve one and explain this is how things are done in the ENGLAND. A total waste of money along racist staff and people!

Stopped by for a drink. Unfortunately it was closed but we had a look round the gardens which along with the views were stunning. Lovely quiet location.

Beware bad customer service from manager graeme. We stayed at this hotel looking for a wedding venue, turned up with a 4 year old child 12.30pm on Sunday 30th April to be greeted by manger Graeme. We were told the room was not ready until 2pm and we had to come back, we stated we would not be back until much later that day and if anything at all was available could we have this or wait. Again we were told to come back at 2pm. The car park was empty and the hotel looked deserted. No attempt what so ever was made to try accommodate us. I went back to complain and all Graeme kept saying was check is was not until 2pm, no customer service skills what so ever. In the morning we were put on a table in the corner without any light and charged 49 for 2 extra breakfasts. The room for 1 night was £200, not worth it at all, no mini bar and TV did not work. Spoilt our night away and definitely would not get married here.

Beautiful hotel overlooking lake, staff were lovely and very attentive. Food and drink pricey but no more than a lot of other hotels. Room very nicely furnished and spacious, would definitely stay again.
