Review of The Fir Tree Country Hotel 3*

Me and my partner went for a meal on Thursday night, we booked in at 6 for 7.30pm. Arrived on time and the girl behind the bar was lovely and welcoming asked if we had booked and offered us drinks. We decided t get our drinks when we were at the table, and were seated in the quieter end rather than the busy restaurant which is what we preferred. 20 mins or so past still no drinks and still no menu, Tony the manager walked past and said have u not got your menus n drinks and got one the girls to get us them and apologised for the delay. Another 20 minutes or so past and one the girls walked past and I had to ask if we could place our food order (turns out we had been forgotten about because we weren't in the busy restaurant end). Food arrived shortly after which looked lovely. I had to ask for sauces because we weren't asked and the waitress did not look happy that she had to go and get these, then my partner had to go and find someone to ask for vinegar. After our main a waitress came, cleaned the table and offered us dessert menu then shortly came back n took our order. Desserts arrived again well presented, unfortunately we had nothing to eat these with. About 5 minutes past and I had to go n find someone, when I asked the waitress in the restaurant for something to eat our desserts with her reply was there was folks on the table next to us, we had cheese cake n ice cream and sticky toffee pudding with sauce (how u meant t eat sauce n ice cream with a folk? ). I said I wanted a spoon, n my reply was Oh u want a spoon? And the attitude when bringing us the spoons was appalling. She is clearly in the wrong job. We were without drinks for over 30 minutes n not once offered if we wanted anymore drinks, no one was ever behind the bar to serve u. It's such a shame that it was the worst customer experience I have ever experienced anywhere, my partner said when we were going home it felt so hostile which he wasn't wrong. The place it self is lovely inside and the chef hands up to him/her because the food is well presented and lovely, unfortunately the very bad customer service let's the place down big style to which I am not sure I would return or if I did will be in a very long time hoping the staff have changed. Lastly if you do want to give this place a try make sure you book as we were asked by 3 different people if we had booked, once going in at the bar, once as we were about t be seated and then even when we were getting our order taking was like that was the excuse for the delay and been forgotten about.
