Cancelled this venue with a year and a half’s notice but refusing to refund my £1000 deposit absolutely disgusting shocking customer service. Should be ashamed of yourselves taking peoples hard earned money like that with no reason given what so ever. Vile.

The staff best in any hotel we stayed in go the x mile cannot recommend anyone in particular because they were all so helpful evening meal was delicious & thanks to chef for making my husband's special desert even though it wasn't on menu breakfast cooked to our expectations had a great overall experience thankyou.

Had an amazing stay in a lodge. Spacious, cosy & had everything we needed. Food was excellent. Staff were fantastic, especially Lucy. We will definitely be back soon.

Food was amazing, service was amazing… go to bar order food etc no problem… a goggle box (celebrity) comes in and staff all running to there needs? but hence deffo recommend.

Food and rooms are fantastic. Since covid 19, bowburn has donated 400 hand creams which have shared with… Durham a and e, James Cook itu, community in stockton and North tees urfent care and accident and emergency departments. Thank you and I'll be back once your reopened.

Fantastic Venue Warm friendly staff & last night's Hog Roast was amazing could be bit cheaper at the bar other than that gota be one of the best Venues in the North East. Outside pods are out of this world!

Fantastic afternoon tea for my sisters birthday treat. The afternoon tea was gorgeous. The staff were helpful and friendly. A lovely setting in the conservatory and a nice relaxing atmosphere We will be back.

My wife and I would like to thank Lucy and the staff for all their hard work yesterday and the preparation they put in for our wedding at Bowburn Hall Hotel they made our day run like clockwork nothing was too much trouble, all the staff were so polite and professional. Beautiful building and gardens. The staff are all very friendly and helpful (especially Mark Tregoning) and the food is absolutely delicious. The entire family were so impressed. I’m just very sad I live so far away! Definitely recommend.

We were here for my niece/godaughters wedding and it was fab. Staff were all lovely, food was fantastic, rooms were welcoming. Couldn't fault it. Was an amazing, special day. I would highly recommend. Thankyou.

We have just had afternoon tea here today at 12:30 for my grans 83rd birthday. Mark was superb! Always very polite and couldn’t do enough for us. He even took my grans flowers and left them in some water while we ate. Then he brought my grans cake out with candles for her birthday! Absolutely perfect day! Couldn’t have been any better!

Stayed here for my best friend's wedding and had the most perfect day. The garden and venue is stunning, with lots to do and brilliantly secure for kids. Staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, and this is greatly appreciated being 23weeks pregnant. Thank you for a LOVELY stay.

Fabulous meal for 19 family members to celebrate my dads 60th/retirement. The staff were brilliant nothing a problem, food gorgeous. The building is beautiful, highly recommend. Our waitress was so helpful, Thank you Bowburn Hall.

A new find for me and I have already been back. Quiet and peaceful and friendly staff. Good food too.

Good room. Few disappointments such as no toilet brush and the big shower didn't work in our room, there was a smaller one which did the job though. Breakfast was good however too much hollandaise on the eggs Benedict. Staff friendly and it's very welcoming.

First time I have been to bowburn hall and on the whole it was not bad at all. The place is very nice, with a lovely large garden area. Inside is clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful. The drinks were fine but the only bit of criticism I had was that the cakes red velvet in particular on afternoon tea were tasteless the Scone however was fine. We will return again.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Rooms are clean, quite small including the bathrooms but had a bath as well as a shower. Quiet location, quick drive into centre of Durham. Lots of parking at hotel.

Nice modern room and bathroom with a great big telly. Really nice young friendly girl on the bar and good quality food. Check in was spot on the chap was very efficient and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Great place for relaxing in pleasant surroundings. When a friend and I went recently there was a wedding on, but usually the bar/conservatory areas are a great 'chill out' place. The desserts are fab too!

Great food, welcoming and helpful staff and lovely environment to eat and relax. My 5 year old enjoyed playing in the outdoor play area whilst me and his grandma relaxed.

Where do I start, we booked the all inclusive wedding package at Bowburn hall hotel and quite honestly it was 1 of the best decisions I have ever made. The grounds are perfect for your big day especially if you get the sun like we did, but more importantly, the attention to detail, the professionalism of every member of staff, the management of the whole day was quite simply perfect.
I can’t thank you enough, we had over 200 guests between the day and evening celebrations and every single one of them commented on how well you had done.

The whole place was lovely. The outside gardens were big and safe for the kids, they loved the adventure playground. The drinks were a little pricey, just over £4 a pint. Other than that the place was great.

Visited today with a friend for a cold sandwich. Staff very helpful lovely food and a smashing cup of real tea. Lovely suroundings. Have visited many times nice conservatory comfy seats will visit again.

Couldn’t fault last nights stay. Very comfortable and relaxed. Dinner amazing. Breakfast really good too. Very friendly staff. Stayed in Exec Room which was great value. Black Sheep real ale on tap too. Will return and recommend.

Quaint hotel, with hearty, tasty meal portions! Bit cold with single glazed rooms but may have been snowy weather increasing this! More than accommodating staff.

This place hold many happy memories for my dad as it was a special place for him and my late mum for years. I live in North Yorkshire and return to Durham every few weeks and he always requests to go for lunch here. The staff are attentive and helpful and you get a decent plate of yummy food, no tiny portions here My only criticism would be that some of the chairs are very low down and at 86 my dad and his partner have difficulty getting up from them, but we solved that by going for the high backed chairs now in the conservatory area. Keep up the good work guys, we ll certainly keep coming back, thanks.

Took my parents to Durham but wanted to find somewhere different for lunch. This place was a surprise find, a hotel with character, several eating areas to choose from and even though it was after 3pm we were still abke to get Sunday lunch. Veggie for me and two meat eaters and non of us could fault it. One of the nicest Sunday lunches we've had. Would love to go again and have afternoon tea in the conservatory.

Arranged a lunch catch with some ex-colleagues. Whilst the lamb looked lovely it was tough and mainly fat and the black pudding mash didn't taste very nice. The waiter made little effort to put it right, with just a casual I'll tell the chef and then never came back. Also there was a band warming up in the room next to the bar/lounge area, I assume for an evening do. This made our lunch very unpleasant with the constant stop / start of drums and electric guitars. Was it good value for money — No Would I go back — No Have I had better for less — Definately.

Small but cosy room. Shower without power. Breakfast not cooked to order, bulk cooked and plated when required and served cold. (I was told it will be better tomorrow as todays chef is new. ) The standard does not meet the price paid but adequate overall.

Me and My Wife had our Wedding Reception here in 2012 it's lush to come back again. We came back for our Anniversary one year. It's my 40th on Monday 29th was Birthday Treat and it was Lush Food. Service great.

At short notice (1 hour) this marvellous place produced a fantastic afternoon tea, the scones were made especially for us would highly recommend. The staff from start to finish top class thank you so much.

Walked into reception today walked into reception with a group of staff stood talking. Was informed that the hotel was closed (no signs on long drive up to hotel). When asked why I was greeted by a giggle from one of the members of staff wearing a really scruffy apron. I asked her where she was laughing at she couldn't answer I asked her name and position a name been Lydia and she was a catering assistant. Bad communication.

I went for a meal in the ball room. I have been before and like always, the food was amazing. The servers were all really nice.

Lovely rooms which are spotlessly clean. Beds are very comfortable the only disappointment was the Wi-Fi was unusable due to such a poor signal apart from that I would highly recommend.

The Bowburn Hall hotel has a very unusual aproach. It has to be accessed through the middle of a housing estate. There is a series of sleeping policemen to make sure you do not speed. The car park is very spacious and there is no problem parking. Inside the hotel it is nice and warm and there is an uncrowded bar just inside the entrance. Inside the dining room, the tables are well spaced out and the food is second to none.

Bar was very good, had a wide range of beers and wines and also a great selection of gin and lots of other spirits, staff were very friendly and helpful. Went into the restaurant for the carvery which was brilliant, quite possibly the best one I've had.

Very nice meal & good selection on the menu. It's good location for groups or party's. The staff are friendly.

The wedding rooms and grounds set up was perfect, the food was delicious, the evening buffet was the best we have ever witnessed. The discreet attentiveness of the staff was wonderful, the management team were exceptional. Thank you again, we will never forget the day and would recommend anyone to have their wedding here. Rooms are clean and reasonably priced, shower was disappointing and the floor boards were very noisy. The staff were lovely and friendly with great customer service and I highly recommend the restaurant on site!

Attended an anniversary meal. A couple of the meals came out later than the others but that's understandable as there was 10 of us. But overall the staff were very compliant and helped us no end. The surrounding garden area is very beautiful and had a nice play area which kept the children entertained.

Myself and seven friends attended a function here. The main meal was fine but when it came to desserts we werent told it was being served so we ended up just getting what was left. Although we had a good time I think this was due to the people we were with rather than the venue.

Room used for professional function was nice but not overly private. Dinner was served in the dining room. Good quality food and really helpful staff despite some seeming inexperienced. Food tasted great and portions were really generous.

I didn't stay at the hotel but attended a wedding there. The decor in the main areas of the hotel are really tasteful and the grounds outside are well maintained. My sister was staying the night and so I get to see one of the bedrooms. This was on the top floor which hadn't been renovated so was a bit dated and tired looking although for the purpose of a nights stay, it was perfectly adequate. The food served at the wedding was absolutely lovely and a lot of other guests thought the same. Nice hotel and would recommend.

Excellent playground, coffee and pleasant child secure areas of woodland to explore. A handy place for a coffee where the kids can play with an great treehouse zone.

I visited this hotel to attend the marriage of my cousin. The hotel was wonderfully presented in spacious surroundings. The staff were polite and welcoming from start to finish. I would definitely visit again in the future.

We came here to celebrate our second wedding anniversary as we were married here. It was late afternoon and so the restaurant was quiet and we had our pick of seats in the large conservatory. Two large blackboards were full of specials and there was a board explaining where all of the locally sourced produce was from. The waiter offered advice on a couple of dishes too, which we acted on. We had main courses and desserts with very little waiting for either. Both meals were delicious and of a high standard, very filling too. To top it off the meal was very reasonably priced and as we left we were given vouchers for a discounted meal if we were to visit again by the end of the month. I'd like to think we put those to use!

Went on a Sunday for a meal. Perfect way to finish off the weekend. Good food and plenty of it. Also a great Sunday atmosphere.
