Stayed 1 night. Central location in Keswick. Clean comfortable room. Good food in bar or restaurant setting. Parking is limited but you are given pass to park in pay and display nearby.

Difficult to get a table in the bar as this pub so popular. Did eventually hit lucky and chose the recommended cow pie. Even the half portion defeated me but so worth the struggle. Chips were perfect and hit just the spot after a long walk. Definitely going back to try the extensive menu further.

The Ploughmans Lunch was outstanding! Great coffee. Fresh brewed, a rare commodity in England… Great staff… very friendly and attentive… reasonable prices.

I have been visiting the George for the past 35 years ever since first coming to the area. Always welcoming, friendly & cosy. On this occasion called in for a few drinks & food and again not disappointed, excellent value for money, good choice of beers & food menu and dog friendly.

Lovely little pub right in the centre of Keswick. Good service and home cooked food. Huge portions of locally sourced food at a reasonable price. Recommended if you enjoy a good pub meal!

Popped in for lunch today. Two for one meals are excellent. Great value for money. And I am not easy to please so I am told. Ten out of ten.

Excellent location great food room very comfortable ideal for me and my wife, very local excellent friendly staff recommend to anyone will hopefully go back when we have the time.

Amazing Gluten free menu, with very generous portion sizes. Super friendly staff and a super friendly atmosphere, we went on a Tuesday night and it was very busy because of the quiz, but both food and drinks came quickly, a must in Keswick!

Beautiful food. Can't complain about anything, mussel pot is fantastic, fish and chips gorgeous, belly pork stunning and the cow pie is something else x.

Only giving one star because you can't select 0… Awful service, rude staff, awful food. Only good thing is it's location. What a shame.

Friendly welcoming pub. Staff went out their way to entertain my 18 month old. Food is great the cow pie is my choice and good ales to wash it down with.

Warm friendly atmosphere, food is absolutely lovely. Waitress did take the whole table of 15 people's order from 1 side of the table which did result in me shouting my order for the full pub to hear which I did find rather strange but apart from that can't fault the place. Also it is dog friendly and you can eat a meal out with the lounge if the dogs are there.

Went for drinks with friends. Was a nice atmosphere and a fire but I expected more on draft behind the bar. Did not sample the food or rooms so cannot comment. Dog friendly.

Use this place regularly to meet friends for lunch. Suggest the 2 for £9.95 deal. But normal menu just as nice. Good range of jennings beers etc.

Delicious Cumberland sausage baguette with amazing home cooked chips. Food is not overly expensive and dogs are welcome — bonus!

Great pub food although be warned the portions are giant. Especially the signature "cow pie" — I always go for that. Exactly what is required following a long day of walking. Friendly bar service with the usual lake district selection of delicious local ales.

Average, not clean, not dirty, not good, not bad just an average place but a bit pricey.

Super service, great choice of local ales and beers from Jennings! Try the cow pie, you will not be dissapointed! Nuff said P. S. Dont let your eyes be bigger than your tummy, a half portion is huge and will be more than sufficient. A full portion is to be considered a food challenge and not for the faint hearted! Would love to visit again some time!

Good dinner menu and a very large, good quality and good value breakfast! The beer is kept well too. It gets very busy in the holiday season so booking ahead is essential. The quality of meats on the menu is particularly good, and the Cow Pie is something to behold! Don't have a starter if your having that. Even the half portion is humongous!

The George Hotel is an excellent place to have a meal. The food was excellent. My wife had the Ploughman's Lunch which was huge and came with four different cheeses. The ham was very good and the bread was warm and tested fresh from the oven. There was plenty of salad; apple, pickles, onion, peppers, all the usual plus a goodly dollop of coleslaw and pickle. I had the sausages and mash with onion gravy. Really good quality sausages and the mash was nicely done. The gravy was very good, rich and thick, and clinging to the sausages and mash as good gravy should. The staff were courteous and friendly, not too much though, none of the fake "is everything OK with your meals" just as you've poked half a pig in your mouth. Also, The George serves Jennings' beer, and you can't go wrong there. The beer was well kept and well served. The background music was just that, in the background. No televisions, no sports, no world news. Just good food, good beer and good service.
