I only went for a lunch. However I enjoyed the chicken and bacon salad. The chips were good too. Would definitely go there again. All the meals I saw generally looked good.

Nice hotel with good sized bedroom and bathroom. Lovely gardens with plenty of places to sit out. We enjoyed the food in both the restaurant and bar. Helpful and friendly staff. Sound proofing between rooms could be better.

Hotel is ok, rooms are 'clean-ish' but a bit tired. Beds are actually quite aweful. The worst is the organisation of meals and overall service. We have 2 kids, 6yo and 4yo so we had dinner at the hotel every night. We spent each night an average of 30 to 45 minutes to get food in the pub, even when wasn't super busy. Last night, tried to get a table at the restaurant, which was half empty, and they said it was 'fully booked'. We wondered if they did it because of the kids or just pure apathy. Overall, unfortunately, a place to avoid if possible. Much better options around.

Dirty bathroom, tired decor, rude accusatory manager who refused to refund any part of what was a £200 stay. Unacceptable. Please avoid!

Great hotel. Excellent service. Food brilliant. My only problem on this visit was it snowed and the hotel was cut off. Otherwise, I would recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure visits.

Great hotel. Highly recommended. Easy to reach by bus from Penrith or Carlisle. Quiet, birds sing, charming garden. One and a half kilometers to the lake. The hotel has a swimming pool, an impressive gym. The hotel has a restaurant and an inexpensive tavern.

Great hotel with excellent facilities including a decent pool, games room, conference room. Breakfast areas well lit with nice views of the mountains. It has a huge carpark and a pub in the same premises which serves nice foid. Pretty good value for money overal, id recommend the castle inn but I would say during warmer months then book early.

We've just spent another couple of lovely nights at the Castle Inn, near Keswick. Again the staff and breakfasts were amazing. Roll on our next break and hope to avoid the blizzards which curtailed our stay.

Staff are lovely and really helpful. Outside of the hotel could do with a bit of an update as well as the pub attached. Really enjoyed our time there and would stay again.

The hotel and its staff are great. The cooked breakfast let it down. Also the crockery is overdue for a revamp. The hotel is a short distance from Keswick but in a beautiful place. I would stay again but bed only.

Had a nice relaxed stay for a night. Great food and wine in the restaurant. Beautiful view of skiddaw from the bar.

Stopped overnight in late December. Not many residents but those who were there all seemed to have small, but heavy, children in Family rooms above ours, despite the staff helping with a room change within minutes of checking in due to noises of stamping feet and squeals. Not good after a 5 hour drive! That said nice setting and great for walkers.

Nice hotel good room and breakfast if a bit pricey. Bar area a bit life less! The Gin distillery and the Sun Inn nearby are both good for food!

Perfect place for holiday. The rooms are in good size with comfy bed and good shower. The bar offers fantastic food. The breakfast is very good.

Room and food were very good but general service could have been a little more professional. Main issue was the loud buzz on the room at night that didn't stop until 8am and ruined any sleep likely to be had. When I reported this there was little interest or ownership and the problem passed to the shift manager and then the maintenance manager. Poor poor service.

Very high standard hotel. Great staff, great food, lovely rooms. Poorly let down by lack of kerb appeal. Lacking colour, flower beds, pots etc. Don't let that put you off. Beautiful gardens behind.

Poor service. My meal was quite nice but my mother's was really poor. There are better places to eat in the area.

We ate in the Tavern, and didn't need to book. Dissapointed with the level of service and food. We had the salmon which was over-pan-fried. Apart from one pleasant waitress at the end, the others did not ask how everything was. We were given a table near the door at the entrance where most people left open so we could feel a draught.

Comfortable hotel. Pleasant staff. Great leisure facilities. The food was excellent. A bit in the middle of nowhere but lovely surroundings and grounds. Excellent hotel.

Nice place and friendly staff, they were a bit rushed though as there only seemed to be two of them. Food was very hit and miss for the price. Portion size on mains were fine but quality varied, an example browned onion rings with uncooked onion in them (oil too hot). Desserts very expensive for portion size and coffee very small compared to cost, there is an issue when costa/starbucks are significantly cheaper by size. Oh and their cheesecake was more a deconstructed cheesecake spread over a plate so its arival was quite a shock to my friend. I would return for drinks as beer was fine and fairly priced… but maybe give the food a miss.

Our room was a decent size but could do with updating. The rest of the hotel was beautiful, the staff were brilliant, polite and friendly and all the food was gorgeous. We were attending a wedding which was very well organised and ran extremely smoothly thanks to everyone involved.

Not a dog friendly hotel. Our dog friendly room was separate to the hotel and the only area our dog was allowed in was where there was a wooden floor — the bar and the reception lobby. This made us feel very excluded from the hotel as we could not make use of the games room, the restaurant, or even have breakfast as a family as we didn’t want to leave our dog alone in the room. Swimming pool and gym were good for the area. Food was average, after 2 meals there we didn’t have dinner at the hotel again, lamb hot pot was nice but the fish and chips was tasteless. Breakfast was inconsistent with soggy bread on the eggs benedict as the poached eggs hadn’t been drained before plating up. Staff were ok.

Great location. Great food. Closer the lakes. Games room for kids. Rooms are large with lots of space.

The castle inn. Had the best and most friendly service I've seen in a while. Everything was in pristine cleanliness and the food was wonderful. The grounds were also beautiful. It has a great leisure centre complete with a gym, with lots of equipment and a medium sized indoor swimming pool. The only reason this didn't get 5*s was because of the furniture having some minor wear, and not always being in the nest condition. While not impeding on my stay it was noticeable. The putting greens grass was also just a little bit too long to actually play.

The hotel is situated in stunning scenery and very easy to get too. Just a few miles of the a590. Service is good at the hotel, although a little expensive. The rooms were nice but the beds I found uncomfortable. Rubber bath and shower mats really need to be considered by the owners, two people from our party nearly hurt Thier selves from slipping in the shower. But over all I had an enjoyable stay. Would stay again…

The location is terrible, too far away from any city or town! The cost to go to any of the cities or towns would be £20. Rude staff along with no potter service. Unhygienic rooms as I saw somebody else's pajamas on my bed once I checked in. The suites look somewhat like a 2 star hotel room. No lifts to take baggage, this was a huge problem as we carried 3 big bags. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone!

1. Horrible location — very far from Keswick city centre. 2. Awful breakfast — paid breakfast only includes bread, fruits, milk, cereal and juices. 3. Small and unhygienic rooms — extremely few employees, misguiding pictures on the websites, no air conditioning, no refrigerator, suites look like deluxe rooms of 2 star hotels. 4. Everything closes at 9:30 pm. 5. Horrible hotel policies etc. In conclusion, it is absurd how a hotel can charge so much despite having no positive points. It is in the middle of nowhere, taxi/uber cost to the nearest town is 20 GBP. If you want someplace lively and close to the town/around places to visit, this place isn't for you. Have a great day!

Stayed here for 2 nights in a double suite last weekend (room 60). Staff were very friendly, especially reception and Restaurent staff. Chatted with the manager a few times as he was wandering about — has a lot of time and help for guests. We were staying with a young baby and needed regular help heating food and sterilising bottles (microwave steriliser) and staff were only to happy to help. Only downside was lack of Wi-Fi in the suites area (rest of hotel had coverage). Suites are in a secluded part of the hotel. Because of the geography, Mobile signals are patchy. 3 and tmobile are unavailable, vodaphone and orange are patchy and o2 looked OK. Room itself was very nice and looked newly refurbished. Room was warm overnight — constant temperature which is perfect for a baby. 2 large flat screen TV's in room — great as we were room bound after about 8 pm with the baby. Would love to come back and stay again, and hopefully the Wi-Fi sorted out.

Had a 2 night stay 15th 16th Aug. It was probably one of the best weekends i've had. The room was very comfortable. The bed was huge, I now want one. The dinner was very good, food was excellent. I highly recommend the home made ice cream. Staff friendly and helpful. I would go back again even though the view out the window wasn't nice and it rained most of the time.

Just spent 2nights at this hotel with my Partner and 5 Year old daughter. We took out the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast deal and in a way was are glad we did. The Hotel is clean and staff friendly (well until check out). The Leisure facilities: The pool was nice abeit a bit cold at first. Change areas were very clean and staff friendlt. It did state in the brochure there was a pool table and games but we could only find table tennis, maybe we didn't look hard enough. Rooms: we stayed in room 12. It looked like it had been refurbished as everything was new. Great room no faults there. Food: This let it down, the food as described sounded great andfor £29 it should taste great. Except it was a disappointment, the meat was dry and this happened on both nights. Ie my rare steak was over done, the duck was dry and my partners chicken was dry. The bread rolls plain and boring. Maybe its me been too fussy but we've have several cruises where they have to cater on mass and that food is out of this world and cost less… anyway check out. The deal we had was £145 per room per night inc. Dinner bed and breakfast and the letter of confirmation stated this for all three of us. But when we checked out we had been charged extra for my daughter. The ladyat reception checked the confirmation letter and confirmed that we were correct but proceedd to lecture us not knowing that childrens meals were not included even though we had a letter confirming they were.
