Very clean and friendly staff.

Fantastic Food and great beer, highly recommend the fish cake burger 5star.

First time visiting for lunch. Staff super friendly and even treated our dog to some biscuits. Ordered Caesar Salad and Beer Battered Fish Sandwich, and both were excellent. 5

Fresh, fantastic food (particularly carvery). Well organised, value for money and excellent customer service! Squeezed few of us in (including push chair) on walk in booking several times recently, and excellent service was still as par. Take out roast is just amazing too!

Truly Awful… quality of food; length of time from order to service; attitude from manager & chef.

First experience of a takeaway roast and it did not disappoint! Very generous portions, lovely and hot (even after travelling through the rain and 45mph wind! ) and all the food was so fresh and delicious! Thanks so much to the Griffin team, my family and I absolutely loved it (p. S there’s lots of gravy too, the photo is pre-pour! )

Staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food is excellent beer is ok if you like flat ales.

Could not recommend this pub enough, the food is fabulous and the staff are fantastic. The speed of service is second to none and the food tastes like a celebrity chef has cooked it. It’s the best food in Newquay.

Just walking up the street from my hotel looking for somewhere to eat saw this place boom amazing had the carvery it was awsome staff so pleasant iv got friends coming down later in the month I will highly recomend the griffin 5 star.

Absolutely brill food brill staff and value for money.

The carvery was very nice indeed. Choice of meats and the vegetables were fresh and cooked very well. Staff obliging with a smile. The room very good and clean. No complaints at all.

We love our Sunday Dinners… Just had a carvery here and it was delicious. Really great food, the kids absolutely loved it. The staff had no problems in meeting our dietary requirements and the guy / chef serving the carvery at the time was lovely and polite, also very helpful.

Fantastic food. Only ate here because the Indian was closed, but we are so glad it was closed otherwise we would have never discovered this place. Just gutted it's so close to the end of our holiday. We will be back.

The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. We were always great witha smile and nothing was to much trouble. My wife is disable but all the staff from the room cleaners to the waiting and bar staff always made sure she was made comfortable. We will make sure that have more visits. Thank you to Phil, Nigel and the team for helping organise my dads surprise 50th birthday, they went above and beyond helping and clearing. Cannot recommend them enough and the even accommodated is for the most delicious breakfast the next morning. Thank you all so much for helping me make it a night for our family and friends to remember!

Fantastic family restaurant. We arrived there was no tables available the manager soon made up a table for us. My daughter uses a wheelchair and they were very accommodating for us. We all ordered food which was lovely and very good value for money. Will definitely come back next time we visit newquay.

Very nice meal. Delicious eating experience. On par with the fine dining we have had on cruise ships but only 7.95. Taste sensation. Also had good selection for more reserved eaters. Would definatley eat here again.

A great place to come for food and drink! I came here twice in one week whilst on holiday in Newquay and the food was very good with decent portions making this place great value. Two lots of fish and chips here came to just £12!

Slightly dated, but scrupulously clean hotel right in the centre of things. We had thought that given its location we would be troubled by noise from traffic and late-night revellers. But we were wrong. Any noise there might have been was drowned out by the seagulls, who seemingly NEVER SLEEP. However, this is not the hotel’s fault. I can say that our room and bathroom was in good order, and that they had an excellent range of gins in the bar. On the downside, the bed was very hard, and the room lacked air conditioning meaning we had to sleep with the window open and the relentless seagull noise. Well, I say sleep…

Wed & Thurs nights excellent carvery. Staff sre modt courteous. Thoroughly recommend this Inn for food and drink.

Tapas on lunch menu was sub par. Chicken thigh was dry and small pot of hummus was not great and certainly not worth £3.33. Perhaps traditional pub food is good but would not recommend the tapas.

Had a few drink in here a few days ago and decided to go back and have a meal. To be honest we were all a little disappointed. Our food was average, chips were dry scampi tasted just like something you could get from a super market and the fish platter wasn’t what I call fresh ‘ fish. The dessert for nearly £5 was poor, very small slice of cheesecake which again looked like something from Iceland with vanilla ice cream which had no taste. Such a Shame as we had good expectations, wouldn’t be somewhere we would eat again.

Griffin Inn is in a lovely spot and in the morning for breakfast a great person will serve you his name is Fabio — he is very pleasant and obliging but all staff were extremely helpful like Dan who was very welcoming and Lena who was very pleasant as well — so the staff are lovely. Overall a clean, pleasant place in an ideal location — would recommend as we had a lovely stay.

We were attending a family party in a downstairs function room which was lovely. We stayed 2 nights. The hotel has a car park with ample spaces and is very central to the town, pubs, clubs etc. We didn't eat there but those that did said the food was good — the breakfast was tasty and plenty of it! The bedroom was clean but despite the radiator on full blast the room was still cold. Room 1 has a nice view if the sea although you are looking over the premier inn in higher numbered rooms. The bed was quite hard and we did struggle to get an iron with the receptionist telling us initially that there wasn't one, however it was found. The first night, despite being residents we were asked to leave the bar area at 12 midnight and the door was locked leaving us to sit in a cold foyer with two sofas — when we took a chair from the bar outside we were spoken to about it but eventually allowed to take it so that we all had a seat! We had not been drinking excessively, were obviously sober and having driven from Liverpool after work wanted to wind down and simply catch up with family. The manager was friendly however when he was about.

One of the most wonderful relaxing places I have stayed and I've travelled widely. The staff were welcoming and considerate leaving me to relax whilst engaging in conversation as and when. The host even lent me his reading glasses as I had forgotten mine. The room is spacious and immaculately clean so much so I find myself tidying up as I go along lol. Couldn't wish for a better place.

Decent food. I had the steak and ale pie which was lovely. Good service from friendly and very helpful staff.

Basic meal selection but what is there is well done at great prices. Menu and prices similar to Weather spoons but a good step up in quality.

The location of the Griffin Inn is perfect, so close to the sea front and a couple of minutes walk away from the town centre, its easy to find and has a small car park. Check in was nice and simple, the room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice, there were complimentary toiletries the shower wasn't overly powerful but that was my only minor gripe. Breakfast was delicious, a full English, and the gentleman serving us was very friendly and attentive. We arrived quite late and left early as we were attending a funeral but we would definitely stay here again for leisure as it was amazing value for money and in a perfect location.

Lovely cosy pub on the main street with a separate restaurant which was different in style to the pub, more updated. The the food was beautiful and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Stayed 3 nights between Christmas and New year. Room was comfortable, clean and spacious, good value for money. Happy to recommend it.

Had Xmas lunch at the Griffin today (Xmas Day) and it was BRILLIANT! Highly recommended. Thanks to Steve and all the staff. A Merry Xmas to you all!

Just popped in to have a drink… What a lovely place… very friendly reception even when we'd said that we were staying a little further up the road, … Great food, fancied fish n chips and bearing in mind I don't normally eat this… Really nice… all of it… even the batter… Great prices as well, can't fault the place… DO IT, YOU WON'T REGRET IT…

While on holiday, the wife was desperate for a traditional English Roast, so we popped in and enjoyed a lovely carvery in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Food was excellent. Service seemed chaotic. We were shown to our table and left. We found some menus when ordering drinks and sign to say order food at bar but this wasn't explained to us. We ordered carvery and charged £. 9.95 which was reasonable for food we had but when commented that the website was £8.95 was informed prices had gone up and not had time to change the site and that our comments would be passed on to manager.

Me and my parents have eaten there for the last two days on our Holiday. The food is amazing at really good prices, and very generous with there portions too. The staff are really friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable on there menu's. Would highly recommend anyone to go! If you love a good pub grab food then you won't go wrong with this place.

Went for steak on Friday as we visited last summer and it was lovely and we were not disappointed excellent food and service once again will defiantly be back again when in newquay.

A clean and well presented family pub in Newquay. We didn't dine here but the menu looked pretty extensive and reasonably priced. Very handy if you need a drink or a bite to eat while in town. Recommended.

Me and the family were visiting Cornwall on holiday and stopped in to the Griffin Inn for lunch. The staff were kind and courteous, there was a good selection of fresh cooked food on the menu including daily specials board. The food came out in good time and was delicious. Good prices, and a short walk to the beach. Would happily visit again.

Another great meal. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff are always frendly you can't ask any more of this place. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Went in by chance for the mid week carvery, quality was good and plenty of veg options. It was blisteringly hot in the room with the carvery rack, but all round service was good and I enjoyed every bite!

We were a party of 13, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was really nice, carvery was the best I've ever had. Room's were clean.

Over the last 12 years we have dined here 8 or 9 times a year. Gave it a miss last 3 or 4 months but went for a meal there this evening. Superb. Really nice steak and service as always was Tops.

Went for a quick drink, very welcoming (we were with kids), place was quiet… Beer was good, certainly going back if coming in Newquay.

Went for drinks, drinks were rather expensive but was no better than other pubs in the area.

My 1st Trip Advisor comment Service was fine nice people, I went in for a mixed grill along with my family and it was horrendous and I mean the worst ever I have had the steak was obviously of 20p quality everything tastes like pork and microwaved it was really bad especially for £18. Saying that drinks were reasonable… Very unlikely to revisit.

Rubbish. My husband and I were celebrating our first anniversary in Newquay and decided to go for a nice lunch as a treat. We waited a while to be greeted but quickly received our drink order whilst waiting for our food. As it was a treat we ordered what we wanted and our tab was a lot for us. The restaurant slowly filled as we waited, watching an elderly couple leave as they had not been attended to. After an hour of waiting I politely asked the young lad to check on our food. He did not return with so much of a sorry for the wait or information on how long it would be. We were ignored for a further 15 minutes or so until our food finally arrived. The young lady did not apologize for the wait just looked very sheepish and slunk off once again. The food was fine, overpriced slightly though good service may have made it acceptable. I asked for the bill which was acknowledged but again ignored. We had to go to the bar ourselves to pay along with another couple who had been waiting. I lightly questioned the bar man if they were short on staff. He rudely replied, no, it's just busy. I would suggest that at these busy times more than two waiting staff may be needed. As the location of this pub is central and my husband and I needed a morning coffee the next day, we decided we would give it another go. We were once again ignored so walked out. A disappointing meal out for us and possibly the rudest staff I have ever encountered.

Very nice carvery especially when your far from home nice choice of sides decore could be updated as it reminds me of Bein in the 70s.

Spotlessly clean room. Meals exceptional and good value. On the premise of basic accommodation being rated this would be at least 4/ 5 *for quality (it is unfair that ratings are also based on Swimming Pools et al, as this may not be what is required, but what certainly is required are exceptional basics such as cleanliness, quality of food and value for money, some hotels and guest houses have the facilities but lack the basics giving the star rating a less than accurate summary). Thank you for a lovely stay at a very reasonable price. I am hesitant to right this review as it could reduce my chances of getting booked up next year! I have stayed in many hotels and guest houses at very high prices and feel compelled to defend the Griffin from some of the comments made here. If it is fresh cream and bone China that is wanted I am sure that there are Hotels that will cater for this for at least £90.00 and for even more, who knows you might get freshly harvested coffee beans but at £35.00 per night in peak season I found the price amazing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion hence me defending the place on what I feel are really harsh comments. A big thank you for a perfect couple of days.

A very enjoyable meal. The food tasted good and the staff were lovely. Impressed with the quick service although the choice of bitters was limited to one. But overall, a nice, enjoyable evening out.

Me and my family had a fantastic time in the Griffin Hotel and everyone who was there was lovely. I would recommend it to anyone, the rooms were very clean and good quality. I can't wait to go back this year! Amazing!
