The Golden Lion Hotel Hotel

Our overnight stopover after a long day travelling the length and breadth of the UK. Make for a pleasant stay, good breakfast and great little bar. Was surprised to see that the accommodation was spread over two streets adjacent to the bar. I’m not complaining in the slightest, it was good. The walk is only seconds from the bar. You also have Lidl and Morrison’s directly across the road to the front and back and ideal transport links. I’ve gone by the hotel a few times since staying there even though I live in Scotland and I can see it being another stopover there in the next few weeks. Many thanks to the staff for being so welcoming.

Plus point, there's a car park out side the property. This is a very dated property, the room we stayed in was very small, with a uncomfortable bed. Several rooms share a shower/toilet so had to wait until it was vacant to use. The furniture throughout the property is a mess and worst of all was the horrible smell of the place, very damp and unhealthy. We just stayed overnight and moved on. What a disappointment.

Accomodation was in a house opposite the pub, excellent value. Room clean and tidy. Would have no hesitation using again if in the area. Burger van in the car park of the pub was open early morning and offered great food for the start of the day.

Four stars is a fair review. The facilities are nice and simple. Bedroom was a good size and comfortable for me and my son. Bathroom at first glance looks very good. The best way to describe the state of the room and bathroom is tired. Clean enough to stay in, but really could do with a refresh. The staff were very nice and helpful. The catering wagon for breakfast was different but supplied good food. The location of the hotel is great for Oulton Park and I would happily stay there again.

I live nearby and often pop over to the cafe in the car park at the back of this great local pub, after a quick shop at Morrisons. Great idea for a quick bite. Very friendly woman running it too.

It's an odd one! Park at the pub and wander over the road to a converted house where all the rooms are. If you are looking for somewhere to lay your head for a night or two — especially if visiting Oulton Park — that doesn't break the budget like most other nearby places this is it! Breakfast is a big outdoor kitchen in the pub carpark, which was perfect for what I needed with a feed, water and dash. Pleasant service from everyone dealt with. No frills, but no problems.

Cheap but you get what you pay for. 3 of us stayed in a family room (13) for just one night. The walls were paper thin. So much so we could hear our neighbour searching in a plastic carrier bag. You can also hear all the plumbing quite audibly. The double bed mattress was knackered so my legs were that much higher than my bum. No glasses in room but tea and coffee with a kettle which was handy. Room is a good size and lovely and warm. Tiling trim was very dusty as well as the other bathroom fixtures which would indicate close attention to cleaning hasn't really been taken. All in all, good location and ok for one night but simple cleaning and mattress change could take it to a 4/5 if you don't mind hearing water noises from all other parts all night.

We were looked after by the staff, it was so warm in the accommodation, veŗy comfortable bed and good shower. Breakfast from the van was great.

Nice hotel, big modern room in a quiet corner of Middlewich. Nice the service and the cleaner. Only black spot that damned chicken so beautiful and old style but that you cannot use.

Beds clean & comfy Ensuite excellent rooms tidy and clean, shared facilities good, warm, cosy, live music excellent food available from the butty van in the car park which you can eat in the pub and eat, could have done with a bigger towel! Xx if your not used to traffic during the night it may not be for you xx.

Rip off try to take £100 out ur bank for a ke deposit on top of what u pay to stay there then when refuse to pay the £100 tell u they have double booked room leave u stranded and takes week for money they took from bank to be returned.

Lovely little bar with plenty off plain, but clean and comfortable accommodation.

This was my first visit to the Golden Lion. We called in for drinks during the FAB festival. I really liked this pub. Cosy, well presented and the bar staff were very friendly.

We were provided a room in the building opposite the actual pub. It has a quaint and welcoming feeling. The communal kitchen is an added bonus not usually present with and Travel Lodge type place. The staff member was friendly and helpful and the local area is nice and with plenty of small shops. The room was a family room with a double and single bed. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us and the ensuite was handy with a communal bathroom if needed. I feel we were very well catered for. Perhaps the boiler could be turned down in the morning though, it was scalding even at lowest temp but that's a tiny thing. Overall, a very good 2 nights for a very fair price. Thank you.

Great Hotel with Lovely bar, friendly staff and locals. Excellent Value for Money. Fantastic location with lots of nearby amenities. Best Hotel in Middlewich.

This is obviously a British copy of the TV show "Cheers". You will definitely feel like being home with all those lovely people and that great choices of beer. The rooms upstairs are breathtaking. Everything is new and really comfy. I would really like to give it the best rating ever, but there is only five stars possible.
