I am staying here at the moment. After an 8 hour drive, I went out for the evening. I came back at 11:30pm and there is no hot water to take a shower. I tried calling the reception but nobody answered. I would not recommend this guesthouse at all. I am wondering why they have 4 stars…

Other staff I can not evaluate because not there if you need it the second minus punk is the catastrophic shower and w lan was also not there although it should be available according to the description
Towels have been changed every day which is not absolutely necessary.

Stayed for one night, was going to be two but it was so hot in the room that I could only take the one as I could not sleep. There was an inadequate fan in the cupboard which blew the hot air around and as far as I could tell from the PAT test label it had last been checked in 2014 so lucky it didn't blow up. Dated decor and rarely saw anyone on desk. Wouldn't return. Really needs some air con.

A nice, peaceful place, but I didn't like it when knocking on the window, but I won't dig deep and say just one thing — PERFECT FOOD!

Good, inexpensive place to stay for a couple of nights bed and breakfast. Only a stones throw from the city centre. Helpful, friendly staff. Nice grounds with views of the golf course and excellent view of the Cathedral. Set in a nice, quiet area, just off the A10.

A charming hotel providing everything we needed. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable and warm Breakfasts and evening meals were excellent. The owner and staff were welcoming and helpful.

Hotel is charming but there was a lot of noise from next doors bathroom fan.

We spent Christmas day at the Nyton this year and I have to say it was the best Christmas meal we have ever had! Great atmosphere from start to finish and all the food was excellent — my sirloin of beef was so tender as was the Turkey which everyone else had. We even had a visit from Santa at the end of the meal with gifts for everyone (although he did look suspiciously like the owner — ha ha ha! Our little girl thought he was fabulous though! ). All I can say is if we go out for Christmas again we would definitely return to the Nyton. Thankyou from the Castle's.

Conveniently located. Comfortable, clean rooms & a really nice staff. They were very accommodating for my quite disabled mother.

We stayed in the superior double room which is decently sized and decorated ok (although a fresh lick off paint and newer bedding wouldn't go a miss). The en-suite bathroom looked to have been recently renovated. At night the rooms were dark, quiet and we had a reasonable sleep. The guesthouse has a lots of charm and in plenty of grounds, it is about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Ely so pretty central. The fresh fruit at breakfast was really nice. There were a number of things that could be improved in the stay. 1 The cost of the family room covers two people staying, additional people staying are charged at £15 per head (breakfast cost). 2 The shower did not get hot even when left to run for a long time. When mentioned to the owner he said "you may call me bloody minded but the shower works" — hmmm 3 The breakfast choice was ok but the single sausage in the full English was exceedingly poor — when cut into we just got a large pool of oil/water out. 4 The breakfast is not worth the alleged £15 per person. 5 The beds were very soft and I think due for replacement.

Within walking distance of the famous cathedral, pet friendly family run polite staff that know how to look after their guests.

Old country house feel to the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable and it's a short walk from town centre. Would stop there again.

Only one star because I could not get back home.

The hotel is lovely, like being in a lodge in an Agatha Christie novel, the staff are also gracious, friendly and helpful. A lovely place to stay.
