We had a surprise stop over in beautiful
Histon, Due to a storm. Sheryl quickly sorted us out and found us a room we stayed in a Lovely room relaxing new decor, great power shower in a super sized glass cubical, very plush bathroom, comfy bigger bed, own garden sitting area fir my two little dogs, great service, we joined friendly regular locals in the bar and we throughly enjoyed tucking into a large fish and chips, after a fab relaxing shower. Sheryl couldn’t do enough for us, she certainly went the extra mile, we will be returning.

Great lunch and service.

Had a table of 6 last night in the outside area and it was brilliant. The app was easy to use, the staff were so efficient with bringing out our food and drinks and the food was piping hot.
Thank you Sheryl & team we had a great night and will definately come again.

Great pub with an excellent selection of beers.

The many old pub/brewery memorabilia on the walls, ceiling etc lend it a great atmosphere. Open fire in the lounge bar, games and banter in the public bar all with a great selection of beers, wines and spirits along with good typically English meals and snacks. Always a good choice for a typical English country pub. Big beer garden out the back.

Fantastic range of real ales, lovely old fashioned bar on the right hand side, and a great beer festival every September in aid of local charities. A top quality pub.

Terrible and nearly £20 a plate if you want to be ripped off just because is Grantchester this is the perfect place to go we had the beef it was so terrible we sent it back and the nice man that served us said would we like to try the lamb if anything that was even worse and the gravy was just coloured water roast potatoes won't even cooked and a manager hadn't even got the bottle to come over and see us perhaps he knew what they were serving was terrible. All about profit and giving the least possible to people there used to be a time when you wanted to charge an actually give something to your customers at the Red Lion this is obviously a thing of the past. Terrible terrible terrible.

It's beer festival week. There's a large tent, it full of beer. There's even a fairly large sized brass band who were pretty good. It's there all week starting 3rd September. Plenty of traditionalbbeer and cider not much in the way of euro fizz for the larger beer drinkers. I'll be going again.

Just wanted to give a Shout out to our Wonderful Red Lion and the team. Thanks to the Bank Holiday team who we did indeed find very welcoming after a long hot day. Our end of day visit was a perfect way to end an amazing Bank Holiday. Thanks also to City Club, the new owners for having the courage to try something new to mark the Royal Wedding Day. My family and I very much enjoyed our cream tea with a cheeky glass of prosecco. Would recommend Red Lion for food, beers (my son in law is a discerning Camra member) but most of all the Company and the Bar team. Do visit the Red Lion, a pub which every day is an important part of our inclusive Histon Community.

First English pub I visited and was not let down, small, quaint, and lovely atmosphere. Beers were great. Some staff were iffy, but over all great.

Great place now Mark's gone! Lol. Outside is… what this locals watching place is all about. Small time fun with lots of builders on a Friday… great?

Excellent pub. Unspoilt inside, excellent cask selection in good condition. Food was very nice.

Simply put the best Sunday pub roast I've ever had. It was bsolutely delicious. Quite often pub roasts are a let down and at best just okay. The Sunday roast I had at the Red Lion was extremely tender, crispy, wondefully flavoursome and it really did exceed my expectations. I just wish all pubs could produce a roast close to their level. Compliments to the chef. Oh and my father told me that he also thought it was the best roast he has had. If you are in the Cambridge area on Sunday, definitely make an effort to head to the Red Lion for a remarkable roast!

Good selection of beers and classic atmosphere. Best local pub.

Wonderful beer, roaring fire, superb company & all round excellent pub that deserves every award going. Fantastic beer festival every summer that raises money for charity. Great community spirit.

Maybe the best food I've eaten in my life. The lamb was exquisite, never had it so tender and flavourful. The burger was incredible, and the chips fantastic. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.

One of the better offerings in the village. Unfortunately food is served tues-thursday on the week so Friday night is not an option unless all you want is hot chips. Service is quick and the atmosphere is pretty good. Go an enjoy. Summer beer garden is lovely.

Best pub I've ever been to. Good pub food, great beer selection, great atmosphere, real character.

A local friend recommended The Red Lion for drinks and also as a place to stay. I highly recommend both. My room was perfect, the service was great and the staff very accommodating.

I visited today Sunday 12 th Feb booked a table for 2 pm but running late so asked if 2.30 pm would be ok that was fine, I asked if any roasts would be left & was told they could save some if we told them what we wanted so asked for 3 roast lamb, we arrived around 2.30 pm the meals where brought out about 2.50 pm one of the plates had a lamb chop on the top & underneath meat very pink the other 2 plates arrived & also very pink so asked for it to be taken back.
Waited another 5 to 10 minutes the meals came back wasn't particularly hot & parsnips & roast potatoes had been warmed up not freshly cooked the veg on the table that was brought out at the start did not go back with the dinners & had to ask for them to be warmed up!
We had dessert which was nice, I went to pay the bill & was asked if everything was okay & replied no I told the man why he didn't offer me any reduction on my meal just said there is a page on there website you can write your comments.
I have run pubs & would be horrified if my staff told customers that so won't be going back there!

Had a Xmas drink… well… OK… 4 or 5… wasn't counting!, with my cousin David, yesterday. The Red Lion, Histon under the stewardship of Mark Donachy, has got to be the very best Real Ale Pub in the Cambridge Area! Mark's passion for providing a good constant & ever changing selection of the very best available Real Ales for his customers, is Second to None! His Annual Beer Fest is also a very good Calendar Date not to be missed! Nothing is too much for him to organise… I believe he relishes the challenge of getting in all these Ales, from all over, for us to try! Long may it continue! So, if you're a Real Ale Drinker & looking for somewhere to come & drink some of the very best Real Ale, why don't you come to The Red Lion, Histon?
