Had an excellent Christmas Turkey roast on Monday. Is it as probably best Turkey I’ve had and would thoroughly recommend. Best food, service and views in town!

Always a fantastic and thorough service. The staff are always friendly and professional. Was there for breakfast this morning, Alexia was our waitress — she was so lovely and attentive and the food was amazing!

Very bad service, our food order was taken before we were allowed to order our drinks. Spent 15 minutes trying to signal a waiter/waitress to come take our drinks order. Food came before we were given our drinks. Only one friendly waiter who welcomed and checked in on us the entire time. Very disappointed as came for our friends birthday breakfast.

Had 4 main meals, 3 were great which are sea bass, lamb and trout but the pie was very dry. Had to ask for more gravy which the welcoming staff got for us.

Nice food, with decent atmosphere little on the higher side, but worth it.

My husband and I had brilliant breakfasts on Wednesday. I took my mum back today and it was just as amazing. The staff are brilliant and attentive. Thank you so much.

Food is good. Service is very very slow. Not good if you’ve got hungry children! Waited over 40 minutes for our starter after ordering. Maybe more staff needed. The poor waiting staff seemed rushed off their feet. Reasonable price for the food. Nice, clean place.

Great staff, nice pub and good food!. Roast beef meat was slightly gristly though but, dealt with efficiently!.

As an American I got to experience an awesome English breakfast. Totally a nice experience for someone from not here. It was also really cool watching the rowers across the street practicing.

Great place to eat, relax and enjoy. We were lucky as a singer was belting out her own renditions of some classic songs, and was brilliant. The food was delicious, the service was spot on. Highly recommended.

Starters good value for money, tasty and good portion size. Mains reasonable but a bit overpriced for the quality. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Dog friendly with water and biscuits provided.

The ideal place where you can relax and eat normally, of course not super (all night yelled under the window), but deserves a good evaluation, in general I was happy.

Fashionable spot for lunch or weekend / post work summer drink. Main road right outside and high drink prices spoil the atmosphere slightly. Food is sometimes great and sometimes underwhelming. Their brunches are superb though, and coffee comes with smarties! Top choice for a working lunch meeting too and despite the road is still a picturesque spot.

Me and four friends are here yesterday, food was fine. We actually all ate from the 2 for 14 pound menu. Bar staff/serving staff were helpful. Will definitely be back.

The hotel is a great spot for a meal or a stop over. We stayed only one night. Great ambience. The staff, dinner and breafast superb. The weather was very warm our west facing very quiet room never cooled so had the fan running all night. No lift so had to carry a large heavy case to the second floor. The sensational staff offered to assist. Thankyou.

Lovely clean rooms. Free toiletries were provided, staff were friendly and helpful despite our late arrival at 11pm. There was strong air "freshener" in the room, so had to open windows to ventilate the room. On request the staff let us leave some food overnight in the bar fridge. Breakfast was available from early morning (7:30am) and there were plenty of options available and in general very tasty. A great stay overnight before the Bedford Regatta in May 2018.

Spent 2 nights here … was lovely. Staff very well organised and couldn't do enough to help. Lots of little extras, real coffee, snack basket in the room, extra toiletries. Extremely clean and beautifully finished rooms. Was worth the extra for the river view room. Food was top notch and not expensive. Lovely setting for walks and close by to the town. Will definitely go back.

We only stopped for 1 night. Arrived fairly late on, and the bar and front tables were very busy. Car park is small, but we still managed to get a spot. Had to wait a few minutes at the front desk to check in, but didn't mind as they were really busy. A very nice bubbly lady sorted us out and made sure we were ok, didn't make us feel rushed at all, although it was obvious she was needed at the bar! The room was nicely sized, and the en-suite perfectly adequate, I showered without a problem although my wife who went next said the water went cold a couple of times. The bed was very large and comfy. It was 2 for 1 cocktails (£7-9 depending on what you have) which when we were refreshed from the drive we made good use of; again, the service was fantastic and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and efficient. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, the poached eggs on smoked salmon was perfect, although the full English was a shade on the greasy side (although that may have been a 12 cocktail hangover judging). The morning staff were just as great as the evening staff had been, and check out was again painless and efficient. We will definitely be staying again, and intend to make it in time to sample the evening food, because I have heard great things about that from family and friends who live locally.

Nice interior but the best part is outside with views of the river on a sunny day. If having brunch, stay away from the awful (microwaved? ) scrambled eggs but all other food was lovely. Staff should learn to smile and make eye contact.

This is the place to be on a sunny afternoon for a drink or a bite to eat. Great cocktails and selection of wines/beers. Friendly staff and also dog friendly too!

Worst experience after 2 years knowing this place for me, especially I was looking forward to some nice food. Arrived at 11.10am and got told breakfast was finished though on the menu it said breakfast is served until 11 30, then I could not order any food until when the kitchen opens at 12. Staff was not in anyway apologetic or friendly (not even a smile even). Basically I just got told what and when the kitchen will take order, not a single consideration on customer need. I will not return there for a while, very disappointed.

Beautiful views all around. There’s a lot of pubs, cafes, hotels and many more beside river. The Embankment in Bedford is really central same like Thames in London. Love to have a walk n get my brunch there whenever I go to Bedford and enjoy the water sports there.

Having had several breakfasts here I thought I’d try out the evening menu. I chose the beef rump from the specials — it comes in pink or well done — I think I had half and half! It wasn’t described as roast beef but that’s essentially what it was with vegetables. Service was good, pleasant and friendly as I’ve come to expect. The deserts were good with one in our group having the rhubarb and custard cheesecake and I had the warm Yorkshire Parkin, Butterscotch Sauce & Clotted Cream — similar to sticky toffee pudding but different of course! Good place for a relaxed evening out.

Great pub atmosphere in a good location. Food was good and at very reasonable prices. Service was really excellent — this was the best meal we have had in a pub restaurant in years!

Had a lovely lunch here, food is fresh. Not too pricey but you pay for what you get. Variety of foods, so something for everyone. Gorgeous inside, nice views of the river too. Staff are very friendly. They do breakfast as well, cook to order. Will go again next time I'm in Bedford.

Don't bother with the rack of ribs. They are dry with almost zero meat on them and the portion sizes are measly. Also, cling film wrapper in the potato rosti. The process of seating people who have booked in advance for a specific time slot is awful — Disorganised and far too much hanging about! You know you can do better Embankment! You used to be so good not so long ago!

Some rooms have a wonderful River view. Very central place in Bedford. Close to bus station and shopping centre. Breakfasts are wonderful. Try American breakfast here!, Staffs are very nice and helpful. Good variety of drinks. Prices are fair and reasonable. Very good place for gathering.

Lovely pub, big selection of drinks. Dog friendly in the bar. We were only there for drinks not an overnight guest. Right along the river. Outside space big and I'm sure in warmer times, beautiful!

Excellent stay with lovely room overlooking the river. Good restaurant and always busy at the bar. Nice places to eat nearby like Nazar a Turkish restaurant a few minutes away and an Indian. Would recommend this for a weekend or even one night.

Visited The Embankment to take advantage of a very generous £20 discount voucher. Reasonable menu choice for me but a little limited for Vegans. Excellent Rob Eye Steak but ensure you have it cooked at least Medium.

Nice hot chocolate and a very warm dog friendly bar. It can get busy on Friday /Saturday evenings. I have eaten here one and the food was really good and the staff were attentive and showed that they actively listened. This location is OK on the weekend, however; Bedford isn't exactly the hub of night life so I would start and end your visit to Bedford here and maybe go to one of the neighbouring cities… i. E London. But if you are in Bedford and want a meal book a table and visit this establishment.

The service was very good and staff were friendly. Food was lovely but the vibes or the music wasn't great. Maybe a dj would liven up the place abit.

Went there on Weds 13 Dec for a work lunch. 21 of us pre ordered food. Got there to find 19 chairs cramped around some tables put next to each other, so 2 of us standing… The staff get another 2 chairs to an already cramped table. No decoration at all (this is 12 days before Xmas! ). So there we are cramped around the table barely able to move your arms to eat. When food came out there was nowhere enough veg. When we asked for some more, a bowl of cabbage was bought out, that was it! The deserts were bought out at random times, some had finished whilst others hadnt even started. Then they stick on a £60 service charge. Never will I return here again.

Friendly helpful staff when we had a Saturday lunch, busy and quite crowded but staff made time to help. Food was very good, venison excellent. Great riverside location, very good for families or couples.

The location is good, but the parking is a bit tough… Takes quite a while to find a place to park. Food and drink are also good.

Excellent food and service. Just lost one star as food could have been a little hotter. Breakfast (full english) excellent value for money. Would go again.

This is a lovely gastro pub with an insanely large menu of very on trend things. The decor is beautiful and it is well laid out. This place is always popular and the food is good. The service is good too.

I went with a group of 9. All enjoyed the food apart from one. We did find however, that several of us ordered the same thing and there was a huge difference in portion sizes. Particularly with desserts up to 50% less and coffee was cold. It's a bit on the pricey side and whilst I am happy to pay at the higher end for lovely, well presented food this didn't quite cut it. I also felt the added service charge of £30 was excessive. It's a lovely setting but, I won't hurry back. High end prices but, food/service doesn't reflect that.

Great place to sit for a drink, especially in the summer. Food is good however I was let down by the poor service.
