Great and friendly staff and also delicious food, definitely I choose again to stay.

It’s not a bad hotel but now, nowhere to eat breakfast, room is not cleaned, just zero service.

Room are very spacious. Stayed in both a room without a view and it was great, then this last trip with ocean view, it was Wonderful. Staff is so helpful especially I had boxes to get rid of and they did it for me. Mahalo.

Nice hotel by the beach. A bit far to walk to the town centre for food. Taxi on way back here cost USD9.00. Taxi stand opposite Pesto Restaurant where we ate this afternoon.

We were given a room that wasn’t ready so I told the front desk person about it. He gave us another room right away and apologized for the inconvenience. Our ocean view room was amazing for the price that I paid I think I really had a good deal. I’ll stay here again if ever I come to Hilo for a short vacation. It’s all worth it.

We (my sister and I) enjoyed our stay there. I would absolutely stay again if I got a similiar bay side room. We didn't want to leave our balcony. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The property seemed well kept, and the staff we met very friendly. There was some lobby/exterior work being done but it did not impact us at all. We really did love the spacious balcony where we could watch people fishing, birds and turtles. We did not spend any time at the pool or restaurants so I have no input on those. Overall it was a highlight for our trip to have that balcony and relaxing view. Btw, if you enjoy watching birds there seems to be a resident Black-crowned night heron that watched those fishing and tries to steal their catch. We were amused at the antics, as well as a couple turtles that might be regulars.

Awesome place to stay could use some refreshing the room look outdated. Seating area for the smokers.

When I want a decent dinner, I always. Go to the queens court at the Hilo Hawaiian hotel.
Great buffet, salad bar, hot or cold crab, dessert is great, mostly the waitresses are quick to remove dirty plates, always checking if all is well. Price is a little high but still reasonable.

Very average place. Room didn’t have Microwave, when asked they told me it will cost me $10 a day. There were no glasses in the room. It’s was not even worth half of what they charged me!

Dinner was decent. We went for all you can eat prime rib and seafood buffet. The lobster was terrible but the rest of the food was nice. Noisy. Lots of families. Service was ok but not stellar. Took a long time to get drinks and the bill. Live music was not great a d way too loud but the whole place was loud and we couldn't hear each other talk. Everyone was quite friendly.

I spend a lot of nights in hotels and am pretty forgiving but at $300 a night the appropriate word is 'pit'. Peeled paint and tub ring stuff. Carpeting that made us wear socks in the room. The fitness room has okay equipment but the television only had a commercial for a tour company. And they charge to use the lobby computer for anything but boarding passes. The air conditioner failed in the entire building overnight but they didn't even offer a free drink for sleeping in our own sweat. Frankly I think 2 stars was generous.

Good hotel for the price. Not the most up to date hotel. The decor and some amenities are dated. We had a leak into our room from the room above that created a wet spot on our carpet. We had to have one of those huge industrial fans blowing in our room for hours. No compensation was offered for this. There's a pool — nothing too crazy, but nice to have that option. Unfortunately, one of the times we went to the pool, they ran our of towels and decided not to get anymore, even when we asked. This, my young child had to shiver, wet, all the way back to the room. There are some laundry facilities that guests can use (for money), which was handy. The staff was friendly, and, apart from the time at the pool, was accommodating. Be warned, if you're bringing an infant, having a crib set up in your room is not complimentary like other hotels — it costs an extra $30/day. We ended up buying a l Pack.

Enjoyed my stay here. Flew in on Christmas Eve and because of various holiday events parking was s little tougher than I imagine it is normally. Right on the coast and had a good view of the bay each morning. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Our wedding 18 years ago, we live in Hilo and wanted to experience watching the 4th of July fireworks from the balcony, it was an awesome view the room was nice and big and everyone working at the front desk, Waioli lounge and in the Queens court restaurant (we did the breakfast buffet) was so nice and gave us excellent service, we enjoyed it so much that at checking out we booked our room for next 4th of July already.

I thought the room was great. Location was great — close to everything and liked my view of the Banyan trees. Didn't eat at their restaurant so I can't comment on that. Parking's free, but some days spots really fill up by the end of the day (seemed to be worse on the weekend). Overall wonderful experience!

It’s probably not an ideal hotel but it counted as acceptable while in Hilo. We could not expect much from this city. The good thing that I like about the hotel is the security and friendly service. Breakfast is not included and It could be expensive to eat at the hotel. At night, it could be noisy due to the sound of the birds. Overall, it was acceptable for me.

Needed to crash late in Hilo one night because we’d booked a hotel next to why turned out to be the erupting volcano! We were able to book the room easily and quickly. Room was clean and view was nice. Banyan trees are incredible. Close to everything in downtown Hilo including drug store, restaurants, and bars.

Great place! stay herw for 4 days and it was amazing, my room had its own balcony and the staff was very friendly and helping definitely would recommend to everyone!

My new favorite. The Bay was gorgeous. Our room overlooks Coconut Island. Nice stroll to shops and dining. Hostess was exceptionally helpful and informative.

On the evening when Kilauea is flowing towards Leilani Gardens. It's a beautiful hotel w/absolutely gorgeous views. Came back 2 weeks later w/Kilauea's lava flow going into the ocean. Courteous & friendly staff.

We had a great time. Hotel staff were kind and very efficient, always smiling. Seafood buffet was excellent, well worth the money. Nice pool. Excellent service and great location. Alot more layed back and accommodating than the ritzy hotels we stayed at on the other islands.

I liked the place. Nice set up, clean, good views on one side of the hotel. Food and drinkk a little pricey. $25.00 for a breakfast seems a little high. Drinks were pretty costly also.

The rooms are large and well kept. Seems like a great place to stay. Parking is often difficult to find so make sure to get parking early if possible!

The best thing about the Hilo Hawaiian is that it is at the heart of Downtown Hilo and 5 minutes away from everything that is Hilo. Aside from the accommodations being average the customer service and local staffs hospitality is five star. They make you feel at home and have tons of information for all your travelling needs. The beautiful scenery on banyan drive is what makes the morning and evening walks amazing.

Hilo Hawaiian is a great place to stay! Great food great people very friendly lots of parking place to sunbath pool side nice bar live music (small dance area). Right on the water side get nice sunrise!

Went to a credit union function in one of the private rooms. The servers and the wait help were very helpful. The buffet was delicious as always. Great variety of food! Ate too much from the buffet line. The selections from the dessert table was unreal! I tried and sampled a few. So great tasting. "Hats Off" to the pastry chef! If you have guests from out of town, this is the place to take them!

The breakfast and brunch buffet was amazing! Definitely worth going again. The staff was very helpful and nice and was able to help my needs.

Not the most modern but for their price and location — understandable. Enjoy the interviewer room as well. Nice wooden dock to the little clump of land in the water as well.

The staff here are very nice. Great location, if you don’t eat at the hotel, you can easily walk to a nice restaurant. Short drive from downtown Hilo and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Great ocean view! The room was great. Free parking!

We did some island hoping. Stay here for two nights. Nice place to stay. Love the bay it’s in. Shopping all around. Seems to be in center of all the hot spots to see and visit. And far as views you can’t get any better. If I could find a place in every city and island we go. It would be paradise.

What can I say, it's a hotel… its not a 4 seasons, but its not a motel 6, somewhere in between, which leaves a lot of room for the imagination. Friendly staff, room had a good view of the bay, didn't eat there, so I cannot tell you about the food. It's minutes from Downtown Hilo and a half hour to volcano national park, so the location is good. If I do come back to Hilo, I would stay again, no complaints…

This place has beautiful rooms! Relatively cheap prices especially if you're local. Beautiful views from most of the rooms. Good breakfast downstairs at the Queens restaurant. Friendly and very helpful staff. They even have a bellhop. Curbside check-in coffee bar, as well as a business center well sort of it's in the lobby. Just a short drive down a beautiful Dr called Banyan Drive. They also have a little tiny Market located just outside the lobby down the stairs. Also located right there nearby is the Banyan Tree planted by George Herman AKA Babe Ruth. Golf Course nearby as well as Liliokulani Gardens. Also some other stuff nearby coconut Island lots of history there. All within a relatively close walking distance.

Sweet Hotel directly on the sea, but not suitable for bathing. Amwenn the room is located on the street side from the evening until the next morning a bird concert after all, the sounds were synchronous so you could easily hide them. In the restaurant you eat Delicious.

Old but nice. Friendly staff and nice rooms. Fixes reported problems immediately. Beach view is good, more of a bay view. All nearby beaches are rocky. Most restaurants around are average. Didn't try the in house buffet. The shop in front of hotel provides cheap eats.

Convenient parking, close to the airport, we lived here for two happy evenings, there is a beautiful Japanese-style park around the picnic, but the hotel breakfast buffet price is high, the comparison is not recommended to use breakfast.

Staff are Very pleasant and accommodating. We had two rooms, both are Very neat and clean. Free breakfast. It was elegantly prepared — the food and the breakfast place. Overall, the Place is nice and fabulous!

Stayed here 4 nights. I enjoyed the view from our room. The lanai (balcony) is nice. The room was clean. The staff was friendly. There's no room service even though they have a restaurant. The restaurants food was good. Near the Farmers Market and Richardson Ocean Park so I liked it's location too. Free Wi-Fi & parking a plus.

Great hotel. Arrived late after a long day at Volcanoes National Park. Easy drive from park after dark. Front desk staff made check-in quick and easy. Large rooms that have been remodeled/updated with great finishes. Very clean. Parking has tight spots, but free of charge. Restaurant and Cafe/lounge on site adjacent to lobby.

Good location to have dinner. The restaurant overlooks the day area so you have a nice Waterfront view when you eat your dinner. Buffet is very diverse so you can get your Phil of sushi to carved meat and some other local Asian food.

Friendly staff and a great place to be if you want to be with the the Big Island locals. Buffet is also nice. I would love to see a pool at the hotel as well as updated rooms.

This hotel gets the job done, but it isn't nice. It clearly was nice back in the day, but it is in dire need of refurbishment. I had read the reviews, so knew what to expect going into it. Our room had a musty smell the entire time we were there, and we aren't sure why. The bed was decent, but they don't use the three sheet method on their beds, so the comforter was exposed, which was strange. We appreciated the mini fridge and coffee maker. The staff were friendly and helpful, which is the one thing we liked about the hotel. If you can't find anything else in Hilo, this isn't a horrible option, but it's not the best.

The hotel is awful. The facility does not have enough parking space. It was raining while we arrived and we were told to park on the street. Room was not done while we were gone for the entire day. When we called room service upon return, there was no apology and no offer to do the room at the time. We booked this hotel thru Costco. Bad idea! Costco should do a better job shortlisting hotels. The hotel had no complementary coffee. The coffee maker in the room was broken. Only one coffee bag in the coffee tray. When we requested additional coffee bags, we were treated with an unpleasant gesture. The TV was slightly bigger than a phone screen! The balcony door did not shut well. It made howling sounds throughout the night. I would advise everyone with reasonable expectations to stay away from this hotel.

1. Price pro-people, do not have to charge more cleaning fees, unless you are smoking passengers 2. It is convenient to be 3 away from some attractions. It's great to stop without money. 4. There is a restaurant on site where you can dine 5 at your own expense. The staff were very friendly and helpful. 6. There is a swimming pool with children to play with water 7. There are also lakes nearby, you can see a lot of people fishing or playing with water, great 8. You can also take a stroll nearby to see the local scenery 9. If there's a Hilo, you can think about staying here!

We stayed at Hilo Hawaiian Hotel for 10 days. It's a good hotel to stay in at Hilo. The hotel is walking distance from Liliuokalani Garden that is picturesque and good for morning walks towards Coconut Island. Coconut Island is also a walking distance where you could see the hotel, downtown Hilo and it has great ocean view. The hotel has a pool, gym and restaurants. We didnt use the pool because the weather was not hot and the water was not heated, which can be expected in a tropical island. The restaurant is a bit pricey even with the discount they give us. We didn't eat there at all. The gym was clean and it has machines and free weights you can use. The best part is the filtered (hopefully) water tank. We got out water there everyday before we left the hotel and when we came back. We originally booked a king size bed because they were out of rooms with 2 queen size bed when we booked online. The lady in the counter was nice enough to accommodate us when we ask if it's possible to have room with 2 queen size bed. However, they only had it in the smoking section. The room didn't smell like it though, so we were thankful for that. The toilet paper holder was the only problem in our room. It wasn't transfixed. The paper slide off several times. Definitely a bit dated hotel. Aside from that, the service was good. It was clean and people were friendly. I would come and stay there again.

We arrived late for check in due to unforeseen circumstances in our travels to Hilo, but we had in advance reserved and PAID for a week stay in which they canceled the entire reservation leaving us with few options for a resolution. The women working the front desk were not very accommodating or understanding of our situation. Not everything can work out as planned during travel especially when delays or other issues arise that are out of your control, and this hotel is very unforgiving to these situations. Bad business and I would not recommend this place to anyone. *sadly even though they cancelled our paid reservation we still needed a place for the night and my hubby unfortunately booked here. The hotel is very dated and the rooms/hallways have a musty smell. Glad we are taking our business to Grand Naniloa Hilton!

Excellent weekend get away. Beautiful view, clean, great service! The pool is amazing, you have the bay right there, you can walk into the water (we found a little cove next to the pool under the trees).

We enjoyed our short stay here (3 days). The room we were given was not recently cleaned (dust on lots of edges, very noticeable) but the rest of the room was pleasant. The bed was outstanding, very comfortable and we dreaded leaving it every morning. Seriously… the bed was amazing. The breakfast buffet was also very tasty (although a bit pricey at $22/person, but hey, hawaii…) the bar tender was pleasent as well and the drinks during happy hour were great. The pool was a bit small and there was no jacuzzi, but the grounds were very nice and we enjoyed walking around with all the wildlife (tons of birds, crabs on the shore, etc). Overall a little outdated, but for the price, very reasonable for what we got.

I have booked this hotel 3 times now for my boss for a client visit. Their rooms are clean, with great views. Booking is a breeze online and when I've had to call to modify a reservation, they are always willing to accommodate and are very friendly. Their customer service skills are very refreshing! I would highly recommend Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.

Located along Banyan drive and next to one of most beautiful parks. Rooms have a balcony with chair and table for an occasional tea with the nature. However weather is usually very humid or rainy (Hilo is one of the most rainy places on big island) so you may not want to be outdoors for long. The layout of the room is a little weird but not a deal breaker. The bathroom is somewhat small and claustrophobic and lies at far end of corridor with a single bulb. All in all 4 stars. Great location, rooms could have been a bit better.

Rooms are good as all the other services. If the room I had had more plug socket it would have been a big plus. The breakfast is very good with mostly fresh fruit.

Great views on the water side. This hotel feels like real Hawaii. Unique architecture. Restaurant is good but a. It pricey. You are better off looking around for restaurants in Hilo.

Nice ocean-side hotel, walking distance to Coco it Island, where you can get into the ocean for a swim. It's not a sandy beach so you'll need water shoes to get over the rocks and into the deeper water. The hotel does have a very nice pool which is kept at a decent temperature. Rooms are modern and clean and have a balcony where you can sit and enjoy the ocean view. The breakfast buffet is okay, but not sure it's worth the cost. Ample underground and surface parking.

Com Booked a room on there and they had the best prices around… Only four stars due to the fact that our room didn't have a microwave. It had a fridge but no microwave. For staying longer than one night a microwave would have been really nice to have. Room was a standard basic hotel room. Housekeeping staff is friendly. Enjoyed the view of the bay from our balcony. Kids loved the pool. There could be a few more towels in the room. We had the two queen room, yet there were only three towels in the room. Should have had at least four.

The hotel is on the water, the views are great, the location is good and the rooms have been refreshed and are well appointed. I love breakfast so the breakfast buffet keeps me happy. Friday's all you can eat seafood buffet is to die for.

Rooms could be better organised. Free Wi-Fi would have been nice as well. The parking was good and housekeeping was great as well.

Great place to meet up and enjoy some time with family and friends. You have a stunning view of the bay and on a clear day, can see quite a ways down the coastline.

Old boutique hotel in a great setting/location. Staff is extremely cordial and helpful. The facility overall is old, smells like it as well. Cleaning of rooms is not up to par. Under better management, I am sure this can be a much better place.

This is without the one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. It was not only in need of of a complete remodeling it a complete new image. Dirty and smells!

My family and I went to the Sunday brunch at the Hilo Hawaiian hotel, the food was great, the workers where also great and friendly. I would definatly recommend this place for Sunday brunch.

Was told this was the nicest hotel in Hilo. Only 1of the 3 elevators worked. Floors throughout the hotel were visibly dirty. Room was noisy, we could hear everything in the hallway and in all the rooms around, above, and under us. The bedding was old and very worn, there were places you could see through the sheets. Not a good stay, but if this is the best hotel in town I would hate to see what the others are like. *****If the hotel management reads this, paying for Wi-Fi is no longer acceptable! Everywhere else we have stayed in the 48 states and here on the islands has been free.

The room was renovated recently and was clean and spacious. The ocean view was nice from the balcony. It was reasonably close to dining and other activities. I would stay there again.

It's nothing too fancy, but the Hilo Hawaiian is a reliable home away from home for my Oahu family when we visit the Big Island. We always choose to stay here over anywhere else. Good service, easy location, reasonable prices, nice view of you've got a room that faces the ocean. Since the recent room renovations, the furniture and bedding in each room is much nicer and more elegant than before. We don't eat in the hotel very often, but there are plenty of options nearby. We like to go down and walk on the rocks near the water.

Great place to have family and friends stay. There food is ok and a little pricey but hey its still good.
