Jack is a delight. This was a bright spot in my business trip to Washington DC. It was beautiful to stay in a local neighborhood and be able to walk to the conference. Learning about the community and the homes in the area was so enjoyable to hear from Jack. He’s a wealth of knowledge and outstanding host, and an all-around great guy. I would highly recommend anyone staying here whether it’s just for an overnight or for an extended stay you can’t go wrong.

Jack is an amazing host and does everything to make sure your stay is comfortable and accommodating. Whatever calories you burn as you’re touring the Nation’s capital, you can be sure to replace them with the delicious cookies that he bakes!

Delicious and full breakfast, amazing coffee, chocolate cookies, but best of all, the most amazing host, Jack! He is so accommodating and makes you feel just like you are at home! It was fun meeting people from other countries or places! Safe, quiet neighborhood. Wish I could go back!

My friend and I stayed there several nights back in May, 2018. I had never stayed in a B&B before. What an awesome place! Beautiful neighborhood and short walk to the zoo and restaurants, etc. Jack is the ultimate host! Made you feel just like home! So friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Room was a little small but the stay was 5 star. The owners are the nicest people.

Great location near the Metro and shops & an amazing host. Breakfast supplied and a warmer welcome than a process driven hotel, or the unpredictability of an AirBNB. Joe picked up some exotic beer, and stuck one in the fridge for me to try too. What else can you ask for?

What a unique place! Beautiful building and unique rooms. Ours had a strong a/c unit which was an absolute blessing in the DC heat. The owners are extremely friendly and generous. Breakfast is great and they leave out wine and sometimes even freshly baked cookies in the afternoons! Reasonably priced rooms top off this great experience. The hotel is close to public transit as well as some nice restaurants and conveniences.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick honeymoon after getting hitched in MD. We very much enjoyed our time here in DC and had a lovely stay! The guest house is very cozy and homey; yes I would say it is a tad shabby and very much loved-in, but everything is clean and in working condition, the ac worked perfectly, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and the vibe was completely welcoming and warm. Make sure you read all the info on the website, the only TV is in the common area (though there was good Wi-Fi access in the rooms), the only parking is street parking which is free overnight until 9am but $15 for a permit during the day, but this is all made clear on the website, I had no surprises. In fact the owner was very helpful when we had our rental car a night longer than expected and he let us park in his personal driveway for a short time so we could have a leisurely breakfast and not rush to move it. Breakfast is simple but filling and well-cooked, when the pot of coffee is done after breakfast you can always make yourself a cup of keurig, there is always a bottle of wine and a plate of cookies to welcome guests when they return (my only complaint is the cookies are cooked crisp… I like mine chewy! :P). All-in-all we would definitely return. Amazingly convenient location (5 min walk to the metro which we used daily), comfortable rooms, great service.

Clean, very well-located, just 5 minutes away from the subway station. Nice breakfast. But the highlight really is the host's hospitality. Jack is amazingly friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay the most enjoyable. My boyfriend and I had an amazing time in his guesthouse. If back to Washington, there is no other place I'd rather stay.

This was an amazing place to stay! It’s in a great location just off the metro red line near the Zoo. The owner, Jack, made me feel at home from the moment I walked in. The house was built in 1910 and is pretty big. I believe there are 10 or 11 bedrooms. I stayed on the bottom floor in a room with a Twin bed and a shared bath. My room was clean, the bathroom was clean, and the house in general was extremely well maintained. Breakfast each morning was delicious: a variety of bread, bagels, etc. Eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, fresh fruit, oatmeal/cereal, coffee/milk/juice all available. Jack maintains a coffee bar throughout the day and baked cookies as well. The location of the building was safe and walkable. It is located only a couple blocks from dining and shops. Jack clearly cares about his guests and does everything he can to make you feel welcome. I will definitely be returning to DC in the near future and have already chosen to stay at the Kalorama Guest House when I return. Thank you Jack!

My favorite place in D. C. Jack treats people like family. Kalorama is the best. I won't stay anyplace else.

What a great guy runs this place. I've never felt more totally and enthusiastically welcome. An older house, but it's very comfy and the owner goes out of his way with amazing breakfasts and hot cookies, etc.

It's a very good place for the price. The rooms are clean and the bed was very comfortable as well. The manager is very friendly and it is a quick walk near Adams Morgan where you can get a variety of food.

My husband and I stayed two nights at Kalorama Guest House in early March 2017. We have only praise and compliments for our host, Jack; he was very kind and accommodating to all of the house guests. Jack was also readily available whenever we had any questions about restaurants, how to get to the places we were visiting, and which mode of transportation would be best for us to use. Our room was a great value, comfortable, and perfect for our two day stay. We will definitely try to book our room at Kalorama Guest House when we visit DC again! Thank you Jack!

Great place to stay! Was warmly greeted and made to feel as if this was my own home. There were always freshly baked cookies out and food available to all guests. I would highly recommend staying if you are looking for an affordable place to stay in the DC area.

The hotel charged my credit card the full balance of 4 nights stay. This was 31 days in advance of my arrival. The man on the phone said this is because people are cancelling or they have bad credit cards. Most reputable hotels, inns, and guest houses charge the first night or sometimes 2 nights. Places that charge the full amount are in desperate need of cash. To charge the full amount was a huge warning sign on the quality, integrity, and business health of the location. Be warned…

This is now my favorite place to stay in DC. From the moment I arrived, I felt right at home. Jack, the Innkeeper, has a wonderful kind heart and the energy in the place is very happy and comfortable. The beds and sheets are extremely comfortable and the rooms and inn are very clean. A full hot yummy breakfast was available each morning and Jack even had warm freshly baked cookies for guests every afternoon! I travel very often to DC for work and don't usually sleep very well. Best night's sleep I've had while in the city! This unique, historic inn has been in business for decades and it is located just a few blocks from the Woodley Park metro in a very cute residential brownstone apartment-filled neighborhood. I also didn't have any problems at all parking and left my car on the street for 4 days with the guest parking pass. There is dining just a 5 minute walk nearby, and the area is very safe. Jack has lots of recommendations for dining and things to do. He seems to know everyone in the area. I loved stayed at The Kalorama Inn and officially now calling it my home away from home when I'm in DC as long as there is availabilty. Thank you, Jack!

Jack, the host, could not be more accommodating. He prepares a fresh cooked breakfast in the morning and has fresh out of the oven cookies in the afternoon and evening. Beer in the fridge and wine out on the table just grab a bottle or a glass. The rooms are perfect — just like a bedroom in a warm and inviting home. Super convenient location just a few minutes walk from a Metro train station and many restaurants equally close. A great place to stay while in DC. Stay with Jack and stay with a friend.

My fiance and I looked high and low throughout the DC and Maryland area for a place to host our wedding. When several inquiries to churches in the area were WAY out of our price range, we started looking into alternative locations. My fiance searched for local Bed and Breakfast locations, and discovered the Kalorama Guest House. From the very first time we spoke with Jack, he was very professional and extremely helpful. We fell in love with the place instantly! It provided the perfect environment we were looking for — small and intimate, with a home atmosphere. Jack, of course, was extremely helpful all the way through the process — clearly laying out the requirements in advance, expanding our options for the reception (we decided to have it in the lobby/waiting area of the Guest House), even helping us in preparing the room (Room 101) for the ceremony. When various family members inquired of places to stay for the weekend of the wedding, Jack was able to be of tremendous help by providing places to stay for everyone! All of our guests loved the Kalorama Guest House, and we had a wonderful wedding and reception there! It was everything we wanted! We made the right decision when we got married here! And we recommend it to anyone looking to get married IN the District.

Great location, just a short walk from a red line metro station and some local restaurants. The house is quaint and well cared for, very clean. Prices are pretty hard to beat for the area. Fast free Wi-Fi. Nicely appointed common area with great coffee every morning. Most importantly, Jack (the owner) goes out of his way to make people feel at home. I will be staying here whenever I come to DC from now on.

I had a conference in the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, where most other attendants were staying. Fortunately I checked around for other lodging options, and found the Kalorama Guest House. It was slightly cheaper, but more importantly, as it turned out, infinitely friendlier :) Jack welcomed me warmly when I went in, introduced me to other guests, cooked breakfast and in general was a great host :) Stay here if you have the chance.

An amazingly relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and host. The location makes metro access easy but allows you a buffer from the city rush if you need it. The house itself feels like a proper inn, not a scaled down hotel and the host doesn't hover as some B&B owners will — he truly makes you feel comfortable and welcome. A quiet porch, a welcoming drink and a simple but comfortable room, all for around half the price of nearby hotels — I have already and will continue to recommend this house to family and friends headed to the DC area.

We had a great stay at Kalorama Guest House this winter. It is conveniently located in an attractive and safe neighborhood, walking distance from the Woodley Park Metro, restaurants, and the Zoo. Jack, the owner of Kalorama guest house made us feel right at home. He is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and cozy and the bed was comfortable, linens were fresh, free Wi-Fi. We had good breakfast in the morning. Could not have asked for more! We would definitely stay here again.
