Review of Economy Inn and Suites - Newport News 2*

I wish I there was an option for a negative star. This place is disgusting! And the guy at the front desk was very rude! We got a room at the last minute after a wedding and got to the room and it smelled horrible! I always pull back the blankets and sheets and check to make sure they are clean before we lay down and as soon as I pulled the blanket back there were 3 hairs pulled the sheet off of the pillows and more hair so I called for a new set of sheets. In the mean time I went to check the bathroom the toilet didn't look like it had been cleaned and the towels had brown stuff on it. Not sure if it was a stain or something rubbed on so when my friend got back to the room I showed him everything pulled a chair out and it was so many stains on it we didn't even want to sit on it to wait for the house keeper so we sat on the table! we ended up calling the front desk and told him we could not stay there because the room was so dirty. And he hung the phone up on me! When we were about to leave out the house keeper was at the door with no sheets. And we told him we were leaving. Got to the desk and the guy told us his manager had to put a password in to give me a refund! I said to him they don't train you to do that for the night shift? What if someone else needed one? He said no they didn't and that he (the manager) would be there tomorrow so I told him ok I'd call before we got on the road ringer the refund and he said ok. I called the next morning and the guy who answered "transferred " me to the manager a few seconds later someone picked up the phone pressed 3 buttons and hung the phone up. So when I called back I pressed the button to talk to the front desk and it continually kept going back to the main voicemail and no one ever picked up. So I drove down to the hotel and the guy come out of the back and I asked him could I speak to the manager and he said the manager does not work on the weekends so I asked him why when I called on the phone did he transfer me to the manager? When he knew I was coming to ger my refund. He threw his hands at me as to say get out and said no refunds and pointed to a sign that was on the back wall of the office! I asked why would he tell me I could get my refund the next day if they didn't offer refunds? He continued to walk away so I called the cops. They said he gave them a totally different story as to why he could not give me my money back. Anyways I disputed the transaction with my bank and they refunded me my money! DO NOT STAY HERE.
