The hotel is kept very clean，pretty garden （many plant in the garden），clean pool，very nice seaview，almost see turtle everyday ，somepeople say they see manta bay. Hotel service is very good，people here is very nice and like to help. There are 2 public garden nearby，i prefer the bigger one ，combine some Japanese style，in the other garden ，people fishing ，swimming ，you can see canoe，wakeboarder…

I love everything about it.

This place was so quaint and peaceful. Bed was comfortable, lanai with an ocean view. Had a Kitchenette. Yes no ac but the fans were perfect, still got a little chilly. Not many stairs to clim to get to your room. Our view of the beach park was perfect, hotel was next to the ocean so easy access for swimming. Other surrounding things to do. Staff so friendly and helpful. They Let us hang out after checking out, waiting to go to the airport. I would definitely go back. You do need a car if you want to explore outside the beach park.

Parents and a child can stay together.
It is good for budget tour.

The hotel is decent for the price you pay. Wonderfully hot showers, nicely angled to pick up the breeze in the afternoons, friendly staff, wonderfully located, and a 24 hour laundry room. It is not high end but it was a good find at a great price for a safe place to stay during the hurricane.

Awesome little bargain spot. All front desk staff and maintenance staff went above and beyond for us. Will definitely return.

My family and I enjoy staying at this waterfront hotel. The staff are accommodating and friendly. Good price for a room. We especially appreciate the kitchenette. It is fully stocked to prepare and eat meals there. The rooms are updated and comfortable. The hotel feels safe and next to a beach park. Walking distance to restaurants and the beautiful Banyan drive where the Japanese gardens are located. We recommend this hotel!

Warm pool. Friendliest people. Great View of the Bay. Big grassy park right next door with trees and rocks blocking balls from going into the road. Kayaking and other water sports 40 feet from the hotel.

Great location, nice and clean, actively maintained. Has a nice little pool and is right on the ocean, overlooks a great little local beach. A little dated but would stay here again.

It's a nice place. If your looking to stay for under 100$ with no extra charges — this is the place. No A/C, Free Wi-Fi, free ice and reasonable laundry make this a great re-up place. Pool is small but nice. Staff are great! If you looking for the resort feel this is not it.

Reeds is very basic and as others said, a bit run down. However, it's very good for the price and the kitchenette is convenient and saves some money (considering this is a budget hotel, it's a nice addition). Many reviews mention the bad Wi-Fi but ours was completely fine. Beds are maybe on the small side but good enough. Only thing I would add is a hairdryer and iron.

No AC, but it's Hawaii so the temperature was pretty much not an issue. Not a really nice place, but it was a fine place to sleep overnight. Clean, staff reasonably helpful.

Clean, cheap and available… although no ac and elevator. It also has only a moderate size parking lot. There are not many full bay view rooms. It's most likely you get partial view of the bay. The lobby actually has a good of the bay. Stars are based on cheap and clean vs amenities. The pic is of view from lobby. It was foggy and rainy that day.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, good Wi-Fi. They even have a pool. Definitely recommend. They also have coin op laundry area.

My wife and I stayed here on a last minute trip because our Airbnb reservation got canceled. The price ($93) was great compared to nearby hotels. Our room was fine, a bit dated but the bed was comfortable. We did wake up a lot from noises, mainly the refrigerator and airplanes. However, it had everything needed for a 1 night stay.

Great price, lovely staff, comfy bed. Who goes to Hawaii and stays in there room long enough to notice anything else? ❤️❤️ Will stay again!

Quiet, calm, less than $100/night. Great ocean view, listen to the surf all day and night. Real aloha… not 5 star because it's not "brand new". It's better.

This is a basic, fundamentally clean/secure hotel in an ocean front setting a bargain prices. Don't expect four star luxury, but at the same time, don't expect moldy, stale smelling sleeping quarters either. We spent three nights here, enjoyed the view of the bay and the pool. The staff was friendly and I would emphasize very customer oriented. You could do far worse on the pricey Big Island of Hawai'i.

The Reeds Bay hotel is located quite close to the airport and to downtown Hilo, as well as Reeds Bay which has a nice beach park (more of a rocky beach than a sandy beach, but still good water access. ) The rooms are dated, the bathroom was cramped, but the bed was nice and there was a full size refrigerator. It felt like a dorm room that had been modernized into a hotel. The front desk staff were there, and got us checked in, but that was about all the service they provided. They did their jobs. The room was clean as far as we could tell when we got there, but the rooms were not cleaned daily during our stay. We weren't there long enough to find out if that is normal or an exception. Overall we felt it was slightly overpriced for the accommodations delivered.

I am very pleased with our stay! Not wheelchair accessible though. Really was the only downside.

Seen turtles right from the hotel and pool was nice. Plus I got a good price for the day.

Need a bit of remodeling, but nice view right on the bay. Clean, quiet. Nice staff. Shower was too hot or too​ cold difficult to have the right temperature. No breakfast, slow Wi-Fi. Coffee maker but no coffee.

Okay here's the deal. If you're looking for a nice resort, 5 star hotel with a fancy pool and expensive amenities, you're on the wrong side of the island. The rooms are clean, including the shower and the linens. The kitchen part is nice, the cupboards had plenty of room, the fridge was a lot bigger than most hotels, and they give you plates and cups for two. The bed is comfortable and the sheets were clean. The shower was clean as was the toilet and towels. It was so nice waking up to the sound of the ocean and birds. For the price, being right on the bay and getting that view, it was worth it. I will say this, we found ants in the cupboard but only AFTER we put a box of doughnuts in it. Sugar is obviously going to attract ants and welcome to Hawaii, we have bugs. Other than that I didn't see a single roach or even a lizard in the room. Keep in mind this review is coming from someone who has worked housekeeping at a hotel on Oahu. I know what to look for and how to tell if they're skimping on the cleaning.

This certainly isn't a fancy hotel but for the price, you get a kitchenette, a convenient location, a comfy bed, a lanai, and if your lucky a water view. It's hard to complain. We didn't come to Hawaii to sit in the hotel room so it certainly met our needs. Side note, there is no AC, which I was grumpy about our first night but it helped me acclimate so much better to the warm climate comimg from snow at home. There are fans and a nice ocean breeze so it's certainly doable. Would definitely stay here again!

Loved this dive on the bay. Old school, No phones elevators A/C. Clean well maintained rooms. We were on top floor over looking Reeds Bay. Don't mind stairs, fabulous view. Otherwise request lower floor. Personable staff. Loved the open common areas. Easy access to beach, parks, downtown Hilo. Great parking. Most of all, the rooms with views looking onto the bay were Awesome All rooms have lanis. Price was right, no hidden cost.

I'm here from Australia and stayed 10 nights. I have enjoyed my stay here immensely. It's not like Waikiki which for me was just like the Gold Coast. It is way more down to earth & friendly, comfortable beds in big rooms, kitchenette, car park. Right on the shoreline. How does it get better than that! Right at the front window are amazing reef fish, turtles, paddleboarders, and ships of all types and sizes. If you want time away from the hustle and bustle Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel is the place for you. The building is old, very clean, and free Wi-Fi. The people are just lovely. I'll be back. Oh and the Banyan trees on the drive are spectacular especially when you see who's planted them…

No a/c. Only real problem. We had a great view, decent sized room, comes with a small kitchen area with a sink, toaster, fridge freezer, microwave, dishes, silverware, and there were several fans around the room to combat the lack of a/c. Tiny pool but if you want to use a pool instead of the ocean you're surrounded by you deserve a small pool. Bathroom is TINY but useable. Would give 3.5 stars but idk how to do a half star on my phone. Great room if you just want it for sleeping and eating.

Very shady, there is no ac in the rooms, but there are fans, which help a little. Very dirty in the rooms and bad service, please think twice about going here, this is a last resort.

Good motel for its price, close to airport, very quiet area. Rooms are pretty basic and it's about 10-15 minutes on foot from nearest restaurants. Swimming pool not worth it. Reception is not 24/7 but there's a key drop in.

Tripping, no water in pool. And no air-conditioning. No mini mart, gotta walk to the pagoda. Oh gosh, the smoking area get empty ice baggies.

New Reed's Bay right next door. Parking is okay, not fully cemented but rather broken cement/rocks/gravel. New bathrooms, but no pavilions. Bring your own tents, seats, mats. Water is good for SUP, kayaking. New rock wall now keeps cars off beach. Popular for family gatherings and events.

Smell of marijuana, yelling, and dirty.

The hotel is very old and very inconsistent, some rooms have nice interiors while others are old and smelly. I would not even give my worst enemy this hotel. They have free Wi-Fi at the hotel but the signal is to weak to use in your room, you have to stand out in the hallway. Find another hotel in this area!

Not happy. No kitchenette as advertised and very old. No upkeep here. OK if you are ready desperate. I would avoid this place at all cost.
