Beautiful place for a staycation in San Antonio A must do for places to visit in San Antonio! The food and the atmosphere in all the restaurants is amazing the views and rooms are beautiful!

Very comfy beds, huge bathrooms, loved pool area.
They need to improve on the outside bar, more bar tenders and keep the fruit they use for drinks in a container that is closed so they aren’t covered in flies and then used for drinks.

If you enjoy nature, you should definitely visit this place, We had a marvelous long weekend at this beautiful resort. Peaceful atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and activities for Everyone in the family!

This was a genesis spot for our annual meeting. The staff was very attentive, all audio and visual needs were met, and the good options were plentiful and delicious. I especially liked that the highlighted — the regional cuisine. Some attendees never left the property except to wander to the lovely grounds! All amenities are here:clothes cleaning, shoe and boot shine, good shopping, etc. Worth the visit! There are packages that drop the prices coming to my email all the time. All the rooms were very comfortable with plenty of space and good lighting.

Went for a conference. Was there for 7 days. The pool area is large and has something for everybody. The staff is so friendly and very helpful. There are daily activities for every age group (mostly free). The spa is very relaxing and the staff were fantastic! Had a king room and it was large with plenty of space for my toddler to move around.

This was our first visit. We have a family of 6 w/ kids (9, 7, 4, 3). There is something for all the kids and was so much fun. The pool, rides, beach and activities was absolutely amazing. Rooms, food and staff are amazing. I highly recommend this resort.

This Resort is exceptional. My wife and I did the ultimate Romance package and we're very happy with the service and experience. The water park is great for families with kids. There is an adult only infinity pool along the golf course. And the spa is a welcome Retreat for those participating at the spa. The only complaint would be the steakhouse 18 Oaks. Service was mediocre and the steaks were very salty.

Huge facility and everything was great. Very clean and comfortable, not too hot or too cold. Food was great, attended a few professional events there. Rooms were immaculate and everything was clean and organized. Staff was very helpful. Have not been to the water park part of the resort, but everything hotel related was amazing. Only complaint is parking — self parking fills up quick and additional parking is hard to locate. Not quite worth a star, but come very early to any event you may be attending.

Pools, slides, lazy river is awesome. Kids activities throughout the day is cool too. Grounds were pretty and really you don’t have to leave; however, be prepared to spend at a minimum of $200+ per day on food. The prices are ridiculous ($13 for frozen drink in plastic cup/$4 for iced tea/ $85 for family of 4 to eat burgers by the pool?!? ) next time since we have a refrigerator I will pack lunch stuff to save money. Also the beds aren’t comfortable and the room seems to not get as cool as what we set thermostat to at night. Other than that we’ve had a blast. 9yo and 6yo loved it, 4 days of fun was enough for us.

Best part of this resort is the pools and water slides. Food — be prepared to have the same eggs and potatoes they serve at the limited service hotels … but with ridiculous wait times to get served after seating and when you ask for your check … and for $21. A 3 rating was a stretch considering our room had gum on the bathroom floor, no toilet paper, cheerios under the bed and couch and no robes. If it wasn’t for the activities this would have been a much worse rating.

Our family has stayed here several times and this summer was by far the best experience we've ever had. They have assembled a great team in San Antonio. Staff went out of their way to provide awesome customer service and made our whole family feel welcomed and special. We could not have asked for a better stay. I would rate them 7 stars if allowed! Will definitely keep us coming back.

I was there for a conference and did not stay overnight. The landscaping of the entire area was absolutely gorgeous. They have a whole lazy river behind the hotel too! The staff is courteous and friendly. The food was alright (catered fajitas, essentially). The rooms were good for the conference but I wish there were more outlets that were easy access — — in a room with 5 rows and one aisle, there were probably only 4 outlet hubs. During the breaks they had "catered snacks" I guess? And some one said they got a candy bar that expired in 2016. Not sure if they read that wrong or if they are the only ones that got an expired candy. Not sure if they are related but I went to 18 oaks for dinner and it was phenomenal (granted I've never had Wagyu beef before that night but it was so delicious! )

A truly beautiful hotel, both inside and out. The amenities are well kept and clean. The levels of detail in the layout and decoration is first rate. The staff was equally as great. Downside? Well all that obviously comes with a larger price tag. But worth it for an every now and then experience. Kids want to go back already.

We stayed here because we heard all the hype about this place. The room temperature didn't go under 78 degrees, which made it extremely difficult to sleep … maintenance entered the room at around 12AM, attempted to fix the issue, and rather than moving us to a different room, brought in a large, very loud box fan in the event the AC still didnt work. Needless to say I would have probably had much better sleep just staying at a motel 6. Its very sad when you pay for a 5 star hotel and get a 2 star experience… We were offered a $50 credit due to the inconvenience, but we asked 2 different employees that confirmed we would… but never saw the credit. That was the first and last time we stay there. Save your money.

I can deal with not having a spot at the pool but it takes 45 min to get coffee in the am. Please charge 10 more per room or something and put more coffee areas. People can deal with the crowd but not without coffee.

I'll be honest, for the price… I expected a free continental breakfast. But found out that absolutely nothing is free. Nonetheless, I'll rate it a 5 as all employees are friendly & helpful, the place is absolutely great. My son loved the Lazy River & other pools. Lots to do for family fun.

I enjoy coming here for brunch, but it's defibitely a special occasion spot. They've got a great selection and bottomless mimosas. However, I don't appreciate that they raise prices on "holidays" such as mother's day simply to make an extra buck knowing they're already going to be busier than normal.

Room was clean, with comfortable bed. Unfortunately, sound proofing was supeisingly poor as I could squeaking from people walking in the room above. Food at the sport-themed restaurant was salty but otherwise cooked properly with good portions. Pool is the highlight of this resort. I'm told the golf course is excellent but I do not play golf.

Booked our Mother's Day brunch and hotel reservation several weeks ago. Arrived today to check in only to be told that the reservations for the brunch were full and that they had only put us down for "bed & breakfast" which only entitled us to the standard breakfast buffet — not the brunch. Staff was unsympathetic and unapologetic about Marriott's mistake. Canceled our reservation and left. Won't be back. Thanks for ruining my Mother's Day weekend.

I enjoyed it. Neat atmosphere. Waitstaff friendly, however I feel they could have been more attentive. Food was good. I think it may have been an anomaly that my grits came out cold. Portions were more than expected… 5*for the tequila selection and explanations given. Overall good experience.

I love San Antonio JWMarriott Hill Country Resor, I stay every year with my kids for the last ten years, it’s a perfect place to relax for all the family, they have many things to do for everybody, I love the environment when I feel stressful, be there ouside by fireplace and feel the briss of fresh air and listing the cascade of water near by its the best to relief stress or walk around outside and the view is the best. We also go always for New Year it’s just perfect, they have life band music and we all celebrate at the big lobby by the bar, you will see kids, teenagers, adults, older people dancing and having a great time… My favorite place in San Antonio. Love it.

Great relaxing retreat. Water park was lovely with lazy river. Great variety of on property restaurants. Nice walkable trails. The indoor and outdoor fireplaces were perfect for warming up in March when the morning/evening air can be brisk. Note to Marriott rewards members — there is no concierge lounge at this property.

I love love love this hotel! It's views are truly amazing. They have so much to do here it's incredible. Come with family or friends and you will have a blast. It is pretty expensive, but it's kind of expected at such a high class resort like this. I'm definitely going to come back here soon!

This very nice and full of vegetation.

I can't say enough good things about this place. From the second you drive up the hill and get a glimpse of this magnificent building, you know you are in a special place. There is absolutely nothing that went wrong during the stay. You are greeted at the door by someone can answer questions for you. The person that checked us in joked around with my kids and they really liked that. The pool facilities are indescribably fantastic. Don't miss them! The rooms are a step up from their normal properties. The garden out back was so peaceful. You can be as busy or take it as easy as you want while staying here. We'll definitely be back.

Had a wonderful stay. Accommodations were great, amenities were amazing. Pricing in spa and restaurants was a bit high as expected, but great quality. Room service food quality was so so, definitely bring snacks for night time. Huge place, and some hills bring flats and sandals. Water park is great, great staff and clean lovely rooms. Disappointed to say the least. We've stayed the last 3 to 4 years for easter weekend. And this year unfortunately, we had some recent changes to schedule that impact us not being able to stay that weekend. When we called to make changes and move it out to a different weekend, which we were willing to pay the difference. We received the cold response of nope, can't do that. And you'll have to forfeit the pre-paid amount, because you are outside the 1 day after booking cancellation period. This is an absurd policy just 1 day after booking!?! I'm not a fortune teller and couldn't predict these changes… Come on man! This is not the service I've highly raved about in years passed. I have expected a cedtain level of service because of our family's past experiences. As of today I'm very disappointed and would like to give you the opportunity to make it right.

Awesome place! Or kids loved the pool and water park area! The place is top notch and very clean. It's a huge place, so bring good walking shoes. There are uber's always close by to run you into town if you need anything. I'd encourage you to go around November so it's not too hot in like July or August. We'd like to go back again in December maybe. The conference center is very large and has a great staff to put on events and the food is great. We'll hopefully be coming back in the near future.

This. Place. Is. Awesome. Love the room. Love the view. Love the staff. But, I would marry the Sunday brunch overlooking the private nature preserve the manage. The Golden Cheeked Warbler would agree with me and may even join me for the awesome bagels. I don't get much quiet time in my job but the waitress saw that was what I wanted. She also knew more than average employees teach their staff. Stay here, maybe play golf, but get Sunday brunch.

This is one my favorite places in the entire world. This place is just gorgeous and offers a ton of things to do, either with the whole family, or even if it's just a getaway with your significant other. The JW Marriott Hill Country is the largest, and most romantic resort in San Antonio. I wish I could live there! The breakfast and dinner buffets contain some of the highest quality food I've ever had. It's all very high end food that's professionally prepared and looks beautiful. I can't recommend this place enough. I can't wait to go back and take photos to add to this review.

Had the opportunity to visit last week for a sales meeting. Check in was a breeze as they had additional staff on duty to accommodate our large team. Staff and house keeping were very polite and helpful. The only average service I had was at the Starbucks and the gift shop on property. I'm sure that had to do with a thousand people all trying to get their caffeine fix before the meetings started. The absolute best part was the Cibolo Moon cafe. The servers were top notch and their recommendations were spot on. Food tasted freshly prepared and had plenty of flare (spices). Portions were much larger than I'm accustomed to but that's not a bad thing, just had to adjust to needing a doggy bag. Prices are high, especially if you are unaccustomed to resort style hotels, but they are on par with most resorts. Not that it makes it any easier to shell out $4 for a bottle of coke, but if you've visited Disney, it feels almost like a bargain.

From the first step onto this property, the experience is five-star. Parking is easy, or if you prefer you can drive right up to the door and use their services. Check-in/-out is quick and the on-site amenities are top notch. A golf course, water park, restaurants, and conference rooms are at your disposal. The bedding is some of the most comfortable I've experienced and every staff member I interacted with were exceptional. I cannot rate my stay highly enough and it goes without saying I definitely recommend this location if you're in the area.

Very good place for a holiday and relax on the river.

I enjoy the atmosphere here. Great accommodations and a beautiful campus. Their party rooms are enormous! I haven't played their golf course yet, but I hope to one day get the chance to play it at least once. They have little veggie gardens out by the original JW house and it brings a nice touch with the farming roots of the property. The heated lazy river is also a very comfortable add to staying here in the off season when it gets a little chilly in San Antonio. Overall, I would say I give them an A+ and would definitely stay there in the future.

We stayed over at the JW Marriott after running a half marathon. The run was an absolute blast, and while we ran it my mother-in-law took our daughters to enjoy some fun Christmas events the hotel was hosting. These included ginger bread house decorating and elf school. The kids had a blast. The room was nice, but the extras at the hotel were what made our short trip fun.

The best brunch in San Antonio 5+ stars. 18 Oaks Restaurant service, presentation, ambiance and best of all the food was excellent. I even approached the assistant manager for kudos. Food was maintained at warm temperature, crab legs where fresh and shrimp was firm and not overcook. Vegetables where fresh and nicely season. Mac and cheese top crumble crunch and cream was perfect. The chicken waffles excellent. Dessert, perfect. Mimosas mixed the perfect balance of champagne/ juice. Hope to come back soon. Great job.

The rooms were great, clean and filled with necessities. However, the resort is secluded, the closest outside restaurant is 3 miles away. Also, the hotel is designed for families with children. It was very noisy throughout the whole weekend. Children were everywhere including near the bars. This is not the place for peace, quiet and relaxation.

Didn't stay here, but brother lives here and puts our nieces up here when they visit. We came and walked the grounds and had dessert in one of the restaurants. Wow, this place is amazing and the nieces love the rooms/water park. Pricey place but amazing hotel/restaurants/grounds. Pictures don't do it justice…

Stayed here over the course of a business conference. Rooms are roomy and nice but after a short stroll to check out the amenities, you won't want to stay in your room. Property is beautiful with lots of places to settle in and relax. Good coffee and good food are all around. The conference space was also excellent. Only downside was the price… a little high if the company wasn't paying.

Luxury, spectacular facilities.

Stayed on the 7th floor overlooking the golf course. Great view. Food at the sports bar was great. Was sad that the lazy River was brisk unlike the pool which was heated. Sand near the slide entering lazy River wasn't pleasant. Staff very friendly and always smiling. Would stay again.

This is one of our favorite resorts in the world to visit. The property is fantastic, but that is just the half of it. The staff is what makes the difference here. The effort extends from top to bottom and across all areas of the resort. Everyone pulls together on any request. Example, we were on our first family vacation. Our 2 year old threw up all over the car seat. We cleaned as best we could to finish the drive. Before traveling I called the "at your service" to ask if the had some cleaning supplies for me to do a job I was not really looking forward to. They went above and beyond. Laura from housekeeping met me at the valet and helped me clean it down properly. Incredible service as I can tell you that is not a job anyone looks forward to. The water park for the kids is awesome. They have an adult pool too. Food was exceptional. They look after every detail like a complimentary laundry room that came in real handy. In other words they do not nickle and dime you once you get there, like some places do (Barton Creek Resort is the worst at this! ). If you are looking to relax in the Hill Country you are nuts if you don't book here. Our family will be back again and again. Also, big thanks to Shari who took great care of us while checking in.

So if you have been to the formerly known as ESPN zone this has one restaurant like that. Wait service is fun and friendly and helpful. On the other side you have Tex Mex and it’s not too shabby. The grounds are amazingly well kept, lush, green and if you just want to go for a stroll it is a pleasure.

Main lobby is quite grand. Conference facilities are top notch, and hotel staff are friendly and on point. Room was very nice. Giant tv, nice balcony, nicely done bathroom. Pillows were not great. Bed was comfy but not spectacular. Restaurants are. Middling, at best. Lazy River looks great at night with the colored lights on. Too bad it closes just as they turn on.

We loved this place! For the price I would totally go in the summer so you can take advantage of the pool area! The pool area is awesome! We only ate at the pool side restaurant and it was good. The drinks are good. The room was good. It had a mini fridge which is helpful when you want a cold water late at night!

Pricey but beyond full service This place is definitely not cheap as others have said. The staff here are phenomenal though. I'll give one example. I stayed at this resort for a conference. When the pool manager, DJ, found out that we would be too busy during the day to enjoy the lazy River and slides, he insisted on keeping them open later one night so that our group could enjoy them. There were several others instances where the staff truly went beyond expectations.

It's a nice hotel. Neat layout and a cool pool. But Seriously, a why charge $75.00 for a $10.00 bottle of wine? This is no joke, I literally was charged $75.00 for room service to deliver me a $10.00 bottle. Ridiculously overpriced. There is nothing within walking distance from this place to be able to go get something a little more reasonable. In order to make it out here from the hotel it took a $20 / ride. I suppose this would be a nice place if you had unlimited funding.

High points: Overall a amazing scenic and fun property. Great check in customer service. Great pool area, gym, dining options and breakfast buffet. Low Points: No executive lounge for business travelers and probably the most uncomfortable beds EVER! Even the kids complained about not sleeping well. It's like they put the money into the pool area and skimped on quality beds and bedding. The A/C never cooled the room properly. Will pass on this property next time. Marriott Platinum Member.

My family loved our stay. It was a shame they misplaced our entire room breakfast order and subsequently screwed up my entire morning, but 1st world problems, right. What really ticked me off is they basically implied it was our fault for not placing the order card on the door handle. We ordered room service the previous night and placed the order card on the service cart. It was CLEARLY separate from everything and, for that matter, physically about 10" from my door knob. Still somehow the card went MIA. They provided a small credit for our next stay. So maybe next time will be a bit better. My kids say we're going back, so… There you have it. It's worth the visit and stay. Oh, and it is worth noting the sunrise was beautiful on the pool side!

This is a very pleasant stay. The staff are polite, facility is well maintained, and over all pricing reasonable. The water park is busy but still enough space for everyone. Rides and slides are good but I wish they have 2 or 3 more varieties. Overall very good. We will come again.

And again? Another hotel wanting to charge for extra power. This is upsetting. I recently wrote a review for the Hyatt Regency off of 151 about this and when I saw the review the previous guy wrote for this one… It's too upsetting! I'm willing to pay for the ballroom, but not for the extra energy for my DJ. No. Soon, my DJ is going to end up raising his prices to cover this! Good thing I'm reading these reviews… This is something that should be reconsidered — the extra charge for electricity.

The second hotel that wants to charge my DJ an additional amount so that he can have the proper energy to run his equipment! This really needs to be in the fine print! This is really upsetting because this ballroom was one of my top choices, yet, there's a surprise! I think this extra charge should be told to the guest before they book!

This is a beautiful hotel and a great place for a business function. We are here for a food show and the food is outstanding and the facility is great. The staff has been very friendly and kept the hotel very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed here over the easter holiday and it was the best experience ever. We booked 3 rooms and they were all impeccable! The staff is absolutely amazing and incredibly friendly. The kids had so much fun and the adults were able to relax… a win win for everyone. The resort is stunning. Can't wait to go back.

Disappointing. My best friend and I stayed here for a girls weekend staycation, we are San Antonio residents. We really just wanted to lay out by the pool all day. And you have to get a room of course. So we paid the astronomical room rate. When we showed up there was trash outside of our room and our bell hop just left it there. The room was a typical hotel room. Uncomfortable bed. No microwave : ( Our dining options seemed limited to a bar, fine dining, or Cibolo Moon. So we ate at Cibolo Moon which we should have walked out when we saw the buffet. The whole experience was disappointing. With one exception, they do have amazing margaritas. Cibolo moon was equally disappointing at breakfast. To top it off a cold front came in and there was no way we could lay out by the pool. The hotel staff showed no concern about our disappointment. The water park staff gave us wristbands to come back within the next couple of days but it just wasn't warm enough. We would have gone to the spa but it is extremely over priced. Such a disappointment. I was hoping to come back several more times with my husband but there's no way.

Wonderful property with great decor, quality staff, and delicious food. Great conference location in addition to the TPC golf course.

Room was clean, bed was fine, bathroom was great, Internet was fast, would recommend upgrading televisions to better quality (i. E. Samsung).

The stay was wonderful and Justin Greenwood at the front went out of his way to make sure the hold on my credit card was released ASAP. Even though the hotel released my funds in the morning, my bank was going to sit on it for 3-5 business days. Justin called my bank and got the funds released after 15 minutes on the phone and getting transferred multiple times. Thank you so much, you're the best and I'll be coming back soon.

We were only there for one night, but it was the best hotel experience I've ever had. Amazing staff, beautiful grounds and very clean and spacious room. We can't wait to go back to spend more time and take in everything else that is offered.

This is my 6th time here with my fmily. We have been here both during the summer and in December. I typically find the place to be very clean. This time around I have noticed trash in the pool area and numerous fixtures that needed minor repair. I hope they are working on making these small repairs and clean ups. I really enjoy bringing my family here and hope to continue you to.

The hotel was very nice and the staff was extremely helpful. The person who brought my bags up took the time to show us the details of the room. There was lots of activities for the kids (some free, others way too priecy, but that's expected). The one issue we had was trying to have dinner at the sports grill. It took around 2 hours to seat us, when we were told 30 minutes. Even more frustrating is there were multiple open tables that entire time. Overall, good experience though.

The stay was most wonderful like I stayed at better places in the world like the staff was very nice to me and my family but I think that valet parking should be free for disabled people like my dad has a war pain and like he can walk but not for long lake for 2 min. And its $30.00 per night for valet is that the price we should pay for my father serving this great country.

We couldn't be happier about our stay here. The place is literally Heaven on Earth! Every inch of the grounds is perfectly kept and beautiful. There was a mix up with our room when we arrived as I paid extra for a walk out balcony and view — when I got to my room it was certainly the worst view in the place. When I spoke to someone on the phone she only offered to waive a resort fee, but my Husband spoke to a manager and he relocated us to the most phenomenal room. The hotel was fully committed, but they fixed the problem and made it right. The decor is stunning. The food is amazing! The staff is top notch. Its our new favorite resort by far. The water slides are a blast, every night they have something going on for kids. Live music. Its the best — best — best!

I have been staying here once or twice a year since they have openend and it has been great up until this stay. Check in time is at 400pm I rented a room for my daughter in her wedding night on a sunday I figured that it wouldnt be a problem to get early access to the an hour early to decorate. I showed up at 2pm to see if I could check in early and they said they would put a rush on the room and call me when it was ready. 345 and still no call so I had to check in and rush to get the room ready. They told me they would have keys at the desk ready for my daughter. My faughter shiwed up at 5 to get there keys and the desk gave them keys to some other radom room that had other guest in it. She then had to take all her luggage back down and get the right keys. Not only was an inconvinence but very unsafe knowing she was let in to a allready ocupied room. The pool area is usually very nice but for some reason it was very dirty there was cups and trash floating everywhere. The lazy river was so packed with drunk people and trash my child couldnt even have a good time. We payed a extra resort fee ti use this pool, but when entering they were not even checking if you were a guest at the hotel, hence this is probally why there were so many people in the pool. Needless to say we checked out early and did not even use the pool the second day do to these reasons.

In the gift shop a phenomenally rude clerk behind the counter cashiering. Shocked me Also, I ordered a club sandwich and small diet coke cans (4). Fifty dollars. Does that sound reasonable, or even close.

Although the facilities are outstanding and waterpark was awesome, I was surprised at the level of concern for potential injuries by the staff and management. After riding the water slide, I got pinned up on a railing with a iron bolt sticking out and it punctured my elbow and left me bleeding profusely. Several patrons noticed my issue and called First Aid, and although they eventually patched me up, nothing was done to correct the problem. I waited at least an hour and called the life guard out and had to point out the iron bolt problem, and eventually they fixed it. No one contacted me regarding my injuries or followed up with me. And I find this disturbing. Management and loss control should have been contacted immediately, regarding the problem. And management should have at least paid for the medical bill as I had to go to emergency clinic the next day, for followup treatment and a tetnus shot.

Very nice place. We were treated very well. It's really big so lots of walking from amenities to room. Over all swanky resort and loved it.

I love to stay at this resort. This hotel has lots of different "uses" to it, such as, family, business, travel, etc! My family and I come here usually twice a year, and we always love it! No complaints whatsoever.

Our family stayed the weekend, my wife and kids really enjoyed the stay. This place is absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. Not a dull moment. Great food, water activities, and games. Looking for vacation spot, a must visit. Lord willing, we will return.

Beautiful resort, great service, comfortable, quiet and clean rooms. Restaurants and food are decent, service is fantastic. Bartenders are very attentive and chatty. Spa service was great! Will definitely be back to enjoy the lazy river again.

My fiance and I stayed here when I proposed and it was fantastic. The staff helped me do it exactly how I had planned it, with rose petals raining down. The property is beautiful and overall a perfect rating. This possible satisfactory moment is now a great memory.

My husband and I had a fabulous time. From the moment we walked in, until we left — the service was absolutely spot-on. In the front desk, Rebecca Lynn made our first experience here unforgettable. Every single detail was perfect. Some of the staff, including Bailey from the golf course, also went above and beyond their duty to ensure a perfect stay for us. We were definitely taken care of. We recently stayed at the JW Marriott Hill Country during a work conference. I brought the family down with me and we stayed through the weeked. It was fabulous. All workers at the Marriott were courteous and helpful catering to all our needs. The kids loved the pool area as well. Would love to go back.
