My husband and I just had our first stay at Amethyst Inn, it was the most amazing experience ever. The inn keeper Ms. Alice, was amazing. She is very warm and inviting, not to mention she can really cook. The inn was very clear and our room (The Garnet Room) was beautiful. We have already decided that this will be a yearly trip for us.

I would have to say my two star rating is not for the inn itself — which I liked quite a lot — but, how I was treated upon arrival. I arrived after several hours of traveling and stopping at various stores in Lancaster. I was greeted by a woman (I have no idea as to her name as she never introduced herself) asking if she could help me. I stated I was checking in to which I was told that was “impossible”. Evidently a camp is held this week every year and the inn does not take any other guests. However, when another woman checked, she saw I did have a booking. The first woman showed me to my room, but told me if I wanted to leave she would refund my money. I had just traveled almost two hours, and it was rush hour. I wasn’t going to turn right back around, and go home in miles of traffic. The woman acted like this was my fault, and she was being put out by allowing me to stay in the room I reserved and paid for a month ago. This is the only mini-vacation I am taking all summer, and I did not appreciate how she was either directly or indirectly trying to make me feel. I left early the next day to avoid an awkward breakfast — not that breakfast was ever mentioned to me.
