My wife and I were trying to enjoy a night away from our kids for the first time since they were born as well as for our anniversary. Since this was new territory for us, we wanted to stay somewhere in town so we can be home if the sitter needed us. When we got to the hotel, they tried to put a $200 hold on my card because and I quote, "They do no rent to locals per owners rules. " No one should give this place their business and they should be absolutely ashamed for treating the people in THEIR OWN neighborhood like trash customers. Without knowledge of this discrimination before hand, we tried to cancel but they said we would still be charged because we used booking.

Very nice staff! The room was especially clean and comfortable! We loved the list of TV channels — didn’t have to scroll thru to find the one we wanted! Nice area of town.

My visit would be perfect, however the door handle fell off. It was hard to get out of my room, but it was a nice stay.

Excellent experience. Had my apartment flood and had to stay at this hotel for a couple of weeks. The rooms themselves are average, but the service and amenities put this place well above some other hotels I have stayed at. Staff were exceptionally friendly the entire duration of my stay. The overnight / early morning kitchen staff was exceptional. I work early mornings so I would miss breakfast that doesn't start until 6, well to my pleasant surprise the woman there in the morning in the breakfast area (unfortunately I cannot remember her name) made sure every day to have the pastries / bagels / muffins out and ready for me after she saw me leave early the first time. In addition, one night I was attempting to buy something out of the vending machine and it got stuck. The front desk personally delivered me a refund at my room. I am astonished that the staff went above and beyond like that! I highly recommend if you have to be in Sanford for a night to give this hotel a try.

Love love the sheets. Even though trip adviser gave us the wrong kind of room we needed. It was very nice staff was so friendly. And very helpful. Love they had my favorite bath wash. How cool White Cistris from Bath and body. Keep up the good work. Roadway could use some lessons from your staff. The Milens.

It was very nice place to stay. It was way more than I expected. The room was very clean and the staff was awesome! I will definitely stay again!

We visited because the the rest of the wedding party were guests at this hotel. The bathroom lobby was very clean and there was pleanty of seating to wait comfortabally for guests. There was a nice fish tank with plenty of fish to look at! It was extremely hot outside and the lady at the front was kind and gave a cold bottle of water to us while we waited. There was cold sweet tea in the lobby as well, and we could see the somewhat inside/outside pool area — it looked nice.

Very clean and comfortable. Pool was well maintained. Gym small but sufficient for my needs. Breakfast was good.

I stayed at the hotel last weekend the 12th and 13th of May I was very disappointed with service that I received. I informed the manager on duty that the toilet was unacceptable due to stains that she said that could not be removed. I suggested that they give me another room she never responded nor did she follow up with me. In addition the next morning my husband and I received two wake up calls that we did not request? Very Professional right?

Rude phone service. Declined by staff a reservation because my drivers license was within a 45 mile radius, well I traveled from MD to handle work, my owned home in Cameron, and court affairs here before heading back to MD were I live on a military post temporary long term orders. I have never heard of such a policy by any hotel and being a platinum member with holiday inn hotels. They informed me they had the right to refuse service to anyone, and they said it's no written policy to show me. They are declining me due to other people behavior, not fair and I am in process of changing my license upon my return to MD just needed one night stay. Disappointed in this location out of all the Holiday Inns I have stayed in this was obsurbed.

We stayed here because we had a work banquet at the civic center and didn't want to drive 30 min after an eventful night. Was wavering between rating 3 or 4 stars. Though the room was very nice, clean and the bedding was very comfortable, we booked the suite, which was supposed to have a jetted tub, but when we got there, the clerk said there were no more rooms available with a tub. So our room just had a shower, unfortunately. I was disappointed because we had called ahead and the tub is what sold us on booking with them. It was still a nice stay, but I would make sure when booking the suite, you clear it with management first to ensure you get what you paid for. Hopefully that will help. *Edit: I was not aware that we in fact booked a suite with a shower. I did not see that upon booking, but I accept that as our mistake. Therefore, I'm editing my review from 4 to 5 stars. Thank you for clarifying what happened. I will definitely call directly instead of booking online. I should add that before booking the suite online, we called the Sanford location and asked if the suite was indeed a King bed and the clerk said yes and she added that all suites come with a jetted tub. We thanked her, hung up and booked immediately. I just checked online and none of the rooms specify a walk-in shower. So definitely call and book as suggested below.

Nice hotel staff is polite, and the breakfast is excellent. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Only issues were the bathroom fan didn't work, didn't even have a switch or timer to turn it on. The bathroom shower rod was loose causing the curtain to slide to the middle of the rod.

Some of the sweetest staff I have ever encountered in my work traveling years. They had found my car keys after panicking that I lost them. I had a wonderful conversation with them about my hometown MN and the upcoming Superbowl. I was also given a great suggestion for food that was amazing. The social hour was great as well however I have a small suggestion. In the future if you order pizza maybe order from a local favorite spot in order to introduce people who are visiting for the 1st time to what Sanford has to offer instead of ordering from a pizza chain.

We drove from Michigan with our pit bull and based on reviews of this establishment, we decided to stay here for two days while visiting family on January 3-5. It was one of the nicest and cleanest hotels we have ever stayed at and that includes hotels that do not allow pets. The staff was awesome and they even had a pet package, with a bowl, treats, doggie bags, water and a ball ready for us at check in! The room was clean and larger than expected, which worked out great for us and our 85 pound dog. It smelled really nice and you would never know it was a pet room! The bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom, clean and roomy. The refrigerator and microwave (with a complimentary water and microwave popcorn) were a nice addition. There are plenty of places to walk your pet, and they have a nice little fenced in area. There is really good sweet tea, coffee and fruit available 24/7 and we took advantage of it! Breakfast… wow, it was SO good and the variety was outstanding! The staff kept it very clean and even sleeping in, we still had time to enjoy it. One of the better breakfasts we have ever had at a hotel. This Holiday Inn was 30 minutes further than where we initially intended to stay and I can honestly say it is worth the money and the distance, best decision we made!

I highly recommend this place. The rooms are nice, clean, and smell so good. The bed was very comfortable. The staff, very friendly. A very Nice breakfast buffet. And most of all a Spiritual experience that I will never forget.

We were there​ due to the hurricane and had a great experience. I was pleased because they were a pet friendly hotel. The room was nice and the breakfast was always delicious. We will stay there again.

Very nice staff, decent room, nice pool. Only negative is that the breakfasts suck at holiday inn expresses.

First night was great. They welcomed my wife and I plus our two dogs. The dogs received a cool little treat bowl with a toy, small bottle of water, dog treats, and poop bags. Breakfast was also good. Plenty of options for everyone's liking. The room is spacious. They have a pool however, we have not utilized. Staff has been helpful.

Me, my friend, and my mom stayed here July 6-7 and it was just great. The pool was empty, which was good, the breakfast was outstanding, the room had everything, including a desk and a mini fridge, in which I brought water and they was ice cold. They had good free sweet tea, popcorn in my room, and nice lobby ladys. They are pet friendly, to, and I have a cat that would have came with us, but my dad didnt come so he stayed with him. I would stay here again. Honestly.

This is my go-to hotel when I'm in the area. Never had a problem with the staff and they are always nice. Breakfast is inline with expectations and the complimentary Sweet Tea and Cookies (5pm) is a great perk. Only issues I can really complain about is that once had a toilet that would run intermittently, however, I got the same room this trip and it's been fixed. 1st Floor room seems a little dark, more overhead lighting would be a plus in comparison to desk/floor lamp lighting.

This hotel would have got a much better review from me if not for the day we checked out and for the conversation I had with the manager today. The short story, they charged us for things they didn't bother to tell us about and didn't even have the decency to give us a reciept… if not for checking my bank statement I wouldn't have known… very deceitful and terrible customer service after the fact. Read on for the full story. We stayed at this hotel specifically because they are pet friendly. When I called and made my reservation I specifically told then I was bringing a dog. They did inform me that there was a pet registration fee, which I was fine with and then they quoted me $427 for my four night stay. The day of checkout my receipt was slipped under my door. I quickly glanced at the total which was in fact $427.00. We loaded the car and then went downstairs for breakfast. My ex and his family met us at the hotel to say goodbye to my son (the reason for the visit). They talked to the front desk people for a while and then came and had breakfast with us. After we left and I checked my bank statement I saw my room charge was $447 Pending ($20 for incidentals apparently that I was not informed of) and then an additional charge for $49.95. I had no idea what that charge was for so I called the hotel right away. Apparently, it was the pet fee and $15 for my ex and his wife to eat breakfast. The hotel claims that my ex and his wife knew we were going to be charged.

Great staff, friendly, courteous, and always available. If something needs to be done, it'll get done, and if they are unable, they will either accommodate or have it serviced or rectified as soon as possible. The pool is nice, breakfast is always available, appliances work very well; refrigerator keeps items very chilled, the cooling and heating features in the AC works very well, TV is 1080p, Internet is fast in speed, the rooms are serviced daily (beds made, towels changed, etc. ) very pet friendly and plenty area to empty your pet if need be. Laundry room is nice, always cleaned and never feels like a dungeon with that one blinking light like other hotels I've been to… Prior to my arrival, I had some items shipped to the hotel prior to my check-in time (arrived a day early), and they accepted the package and it was already inside my room waiting for me. This is what I call awesome customer service and All in all, this is In fact one of my best stays ever. I've witnessed a customer who made a minor complaint about their safe not operating too well and the staff was quick to have them move to another room just the mere fact that it was after hours and no one available to rectify their complaint immediately. That was very nice to see and the customer was also relieved. So far I've been staying here for two weeks and I'm definitely looking forward in being here for another two more weeks. Definitely recommend the stay here.

They rock… our room was located by the side for easy acces. They were super friendly, and accommodating. When we ask for a few more towels we got everything stocked up with a few extra. Oh and they had sweet tea in the lobby!

This hotel is very nice, clean and the king size bed slept wonderfully. The fireplace in the room was nice and cozy! The bathroom and shower was very clean and complimentary breakfast was even good. I definitely recommend this hotel!
