Awesome! Grandview Lodge exceeded my expectations in every category. I had been doing a LOT of International travel for business and was looking for a place to spend a few relaxing days with my fiancee. I wanted to find a place where there was plenty of things to do and see, but we could also just relax and enjoy a comfortable place, if that's what we wanted and needed. Jeffrey and Breanna were simply perfect hosts! I was coming up from Panama City, Florida and Julie was driving down from Virginia. I talked to Breanna, since I was going to be there a little bit early and she said, "No problem. I'll make sure your room is ready for you! " Julie arrived a couple hours later and we stayed in the Gustave-Julia room, on the 2nd floor in the main house. The room was ideal. It was very clean and comfortable. The bedding was quite nice and comfortable with plenty of pillows and towels, an electric fireplace, Wi-Fi, etc… The house was built in the 1890's and Jeffrey was able to tell the whole story of the original build and the add-ons, renovations and uses that have taken place through the years. In fact, speaking of Jeffrey, I found it ideal that he wasn't pushing any stories, tales or suggestions on you, but was absolutely a wealth of knowledge when asked. One of the guests had asked about the house and his response showed that being an innkeeper is not just a job, it's a true passion. He simply asked what kinds of things we wanted to do and how much time did we wanted to spend on each thing. He was able to plan little outings for us that included incredible sightseeing on The Blue Ridge Parkway and some shopping at great little antique stores and curio shops. One other criterion for me was that a B&B should have a fantastic breakfast to start your day, since that's right there in the name. Well, the Grandview Lodge certainly didn't disappoint us there. Jeffrey put on an incredible breakfast all 3 mornings for us and it included a few classics every day, such as great scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, red-eye gravy, muffins, coffee and orange juice, but he also made special things each morning, such as the quiche we had the last day there. I can't fail to mention the freshly made apple juice that he made each morning. When in season, he uses apples from their own trees and he grinds the apples himself. I don't think I'll ever be able to enjoy store bought apple juice again. Seriously, I WILL be back to the Grandview Lodge! Thank you!
