My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary. It was love at first sight! It’s so beautiful, in a perfect location and the service is outstanding. We felt immediately relaxed and welcomed as soon as we walked through the doors. We were warmly greeted and provided complimentary champagne when we checked in, took in the beautiful views of the lobby, and then it just kept getting better from there! Our room was absolutely stunning! It was an upgraded suite, that was spacious, beautiful and impeccably clean. At night there was turn down service and delicious chocolate on our pillows, what a sweet and surprising touch. We enjoyed meals and drinks at Issas Bistro, everything was delicious and service was excellent! I cannot wait until our next visit to Asheville, and Haywood Park. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and it was amazing. From the time we arrived to the time we checked-out, everything was perfect. Nightly turn-down service, with chocolates. We are already planing our next stay there. Highly recommend!

Stayed for Valentine's day weekend. When we were checking in parking the car for the valet. A window on the 3rd floor fell out on to the street. If my husband had not yelled for me to move it would have fallen on my head. It came close enough to get shards or glass all over my sneakers, jeans, hood and grill of my car. The staff acted like this was not a serious situation and the general manager was not even respectful enough to talk to or call us herself! This did ruin what was to be our first romantic Valentine's day getaway.

Hotel is very cute and clean boutique hotel. We arrived at 8:00p after driving 4 hours in the rain over mountainous terrain. I ordered a Caesar salad from the room service menu for dinner. I was told I could not get delivery of a Caesar salad to the room. I would have to come down to the bar, order it for takeout and bring it to my room. Clearly it was on the Room Service menu, other items were available for room delivery but not the salad. For $377 per night for a 12 hour stay, you would think someone in the hotel could have delivered a menu item. Their reason was “it’s not on the room service menu”. Clearly it was! I had no complaints about my room, however the staff truly sucks! Beware. We did not get what we paid for!

This is by far the nicest hotel we have stayed at. The room is huge and so pretty. This hotel is right in the middle of everything which makes it easy to walk just about anywhere. We were greeted with champagne upon arrival and they left chocolates at the door every night.

Took my boys for a quick overnight stay in Asheville at the HPH. We had never stayed there before but we will be back! Great room, great customer service and perfect location! 10 of 10 stars!

We had a long week on the road from California and the Haywood park was just what we needed for the end of ou journey.

An aging, yet still elegant, gem of a boutique hotel. Reminds me of the Chelsea. I adore its understated style and low key amenities. The staff is top notch. They take excellent care of your, and that is what you want in a fine old hotel.

Brite, clean, open, friendly staff, fast service, and reasonable pricing.

Comfortable rooms. The front desk is very attentive. Knocked down a star for long valet waits. This is due to not enough staff and far parking lot.

Great location. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Car valet is required and can be backed up.

Nice hotel. Department store theme since that was the building's previous life.

The staff was very attentive and helpful and the hotel was so charming. There are many restaurants and shops within close walking distance.

Hotel was not what I expected out of a four-star hotel. The location was fantastic, we could walk to most of the restaurants and venues we wanted to see on our vacation. Some of the touches were nice, like the turn-down service truffle from Chocolate Fetish, or the breakfast in the atrium next door. My biggest complaints were: 1) When we arrived they wanted to charge me an extra $25-50 per night for my 7yo son who wasn't even going to use a bed. I had booked online through a travel site and this was not part of the reservation (I went back and checked). 2) Parking is apparently $15 a night whether you use vallet or not. This was unclear, as we were pushed into using vallet and thought that was the only option until one morning my husband called the front desk to get the car and they told him no one was available and to get it himself. Another time there was no one available at the front desk to get our key. 3) The hotel has a distinct aesthetic, aside from the lobby which has been renovated, and that aesthetic is 1990s shopping mall. Seriously, the place used to be a department store, and it still kind of feels like you're living in a Belk. Gold and beige everywhere. 4) Because it used to be a department store, the rooms are big and odd shaped and our floor had this huge sitting area with couches and a dining table outside the rooms. It was impossible to use this space without disturbing guests.

We came from Friday through Sunday to celebrate our anniversary, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. It is right downtown, easily accessible, the staff is accomodating and very friendly, our room was spotless, and for the high-end feel the price wasn't bad either. Vouchers for breakfast were given to us by the hotel for the Haywood Park Cafe, which was delicious. And the valet parking is wonderful due to limited parking! Absolutely amazing!

Rooms were very spacious and clean. Their breakfast place was fantastic as well. The staff was friendly, but I think they were understaffed because I kept hearing them talking amongst themselves about how it's usually significantly slower but that weekend was particularly busy. They just didn't seem to go above and beyond like I had expected for a higher end boutique hotel.

Awesome place to stay. Rooms are huge and very very nice. Worth every penny.

This is absolutely our favorite hotel in downtown Asheville. Sure there are a lot of brand spanking new ones, but HPH has kept the turn-of-the-century charm with the decorations inside, and provide their guests with a unique, personable experience. Overnight valet parking is a steal at $15, water and champagne offered at check in, turndown service with truffles from the Chocolate Fetish, complimentary cooked too order breakfast in the morning, and a departing bag with waters and granola bars. We’ve stayed here twice now, and it’s one of the most charming hotels we’ve seen.

Always a beautiful hotel to visit. From the welcome flute of champagne to the nightly chocolate on pillow. The entire stay at Haywood Park is wobderful.

The hotel is lovely and the staff very friendly and accommodating, however my sister and I experienced an issue during our stay. The water meter broke several days before we arrived and it had been repaired prior to our arrival. When getting settled in our room, we turned on the bathroom sink faucets and instantly we were soaked as were the walls and floor. The faucets sprayed water everywhere at a very fast and furious rate! This continued for the first 24 hours of our stay. Also, we were without hot water for that same period of time. Taking a cold shower is not my idea of a fun and relaxing vacation! We contacted the front desk and they were very concerned and tried to help, but the problem was not resolved. The water never got completely hot during our entire stay. The management was contacted by the hotel staff and we were told that we would be reimbursed for the inconvenience. We payed $315.27 per night for each of the 2 nights we were in Asheville and we were credited $31.53 for each of the nights for a total of $63.06. This is not being reimbursed for the discomfort we endured, but a mere pittance of the amount of money we spent. Is this all hot water is worth or maybe it was because we got free cold showers everytime we turned on the sink faucets? I hope that this is not an indication of how you regularly treat your guests.

Room was roomy, and the front desk service was excellent. The bellman was nice too. Very cozy and perfectly located. Made us feel special.

We had a horrible experience. Had to leave the following morning. They accepted their error. They never contacted us to let us know that they didn't have the 2 queen size 'suite' we requested. This room's view was a construction site very close to it. The GM didn't even offered a discount or even talk to one of us. One of us had to sleep on the sofa yet, we paid full amount for the room $428.27. The idiotic GM offered us to ship us to a nearby hotel that has a shuttle to take us back and forth from this hotel. This GM has no sense of customer service, just arrogance. For 30 years plus I've been going to this city, and never had this sort of treatment. It seems to me that Asheville is losing its appeal. More and more hotels are on the rise making the parking available in downtown almost impossible. This city has lost its charm. They should take lessons from Charleston, SC. Back to hotel… this GM has left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope karma follows him/her any place he/she goes as a guest.

Historic hotel in Asheville has a ton of character. Our "standard" room was quite spacious and comfortably appointed, with luxurious touches all over the place. (The fitted sheets were a nice surprise — a lot of hotels don't use them. ) Champagne on check-in, chocolate every night, a comfortable quiet room in a great location: I would definitely return.

Upon arrival I was greeted with champagne. Every single person that worked was friendly. Though there was a small valet fee, it was cheaper than paying a self parking fee at other nearby hotels. The room was huge! I even loved the little chocolates left on our bed from the local chocolate shop downstairs. I was close to everything downtown was able to walk anywhere to shop, drink or eat.

Amazing service. I bought this hotel on Hotwire and was not disappointed. The concierge was very friendly, as was the valet. The valet overhead that I was home for a couple days preparing for a deployment. He had champagne sent to my room with a note. They wished me well on my deployment and I was in tears. You don't know how much that means to me. I definitely recommend this everyone.

This is my favorite hotel I've ever stayed at and I stayed the Ritz many times. The beds are dangerously comfortable (I didn't want to do anything but stay in them the whole time) & I am going to attempt to buy their pillows. The rooms & bathrooms are gigantic! The bathroom tile is not the prettiest but I didn't mind bc everything else is so great. More towels than you can use in a day along with bathrobes & slippers in the closet. Bring your own hair dryer. The one provided has a short cord, loud, & not efficient when it comes to drying. The toiletries are divine & they even provide makeup removing towelettes The only thing that may be a turn off to some is the lobby on each floor smells like an old department store, which it was decades ago. I'm really going to miss the chocolates before bed every night & ice bucket filled in the evenings. *Tip* Don't turn left on Otis St then right onto Wall St like Google tells you. Wall St will spit you out directly in front of the hotel, too far up from driving into the valet lane. Go further down Patton, turn left onto Haywood St then left onto Battery Park Ave.

My husband & I just stayed at the Haywood Park Hotel in Asheville NC. We really loved it. Location is perfect, right in the middle of downtown. We walked all over and did not need to get our car. Loved their hospitality. Upon arrival, got free valet, greeted with champagne and told everything that we needed to know to get started. The rooms are large and has the most comfortable bed! I would love to have a bed like this at home! In addition they had turn down service with very delicious gourmet chocolates. I got a great message in their spa the next day. So worth it! The rooms are very quiet and I love the way the hotel still has left some history attached so you can feel it. Very clean and the front desk is accommodating. We wanted a view instead of a bigger room and they were able to do this for us. WE are very happy with this property and will return again to stay there! I highly recommend this hotel! Charming Historic Hotel in a great location!

The location of the hotel is very convenient. Most of the locations that we went to on our visit were less than 10 minutes away driving, and some of them were within walking distance. With that being said, the location did not make up for the lack of service and price. The front desk staff was not very friendly. The website advertised free parking but at check in I was told there was a $15 daily charge for parking whether you use their valet service or not. I was able to get them to waive the fee due to the fact that when I made my reservation it clearly said free parking, however they still attempted to charge my card on file for the parking fee. They almost force the valet service upon you and the attendant is never at his stand. We waited more than 10 minutes for our car to get pulled up and ended up having to have them give us the keys and we went and got the car ourselves. The breakfast set up is unnecessarily complicated. Unlike most buffet styles, it is a small cafe that you order your food from. There are very limited options and there is a wait that could be avoided if they didn't have this type of set up. The overall quality and experience are not at all worth what you pay. I could have saved almost $100 a night for an experience that was a lot less frustrating.

Friendly staff and amazing rooms, very spacious and the bedding was comfortable. My only tiny complaint would be the room service situation. Its a very limited menu and additionally the bar cant offer liquor drinks away from the main bar, so you cant order drinks to your room or order and take them up to your room. You can order unopened beer and wine though. I tried 4 or 5 of the house drinks and was quite suprised with how well rounded they are. Overall a great hotel with an unbeatable location in Asheville.

Cool history and nice accommodations, however our room had a strange smell and the service was a little off and on. Overall a good experience but should have been better for the price.

The old timey feel and large open rooms were wonderful. We stayed in their intermediate suites and had more than enough room for two of us. The bathrooms were huge and beautiful. Little quirky favorite — the sinks were so cool! Each spigot was water fountain like, brushing your teeth was kinda fun ;)

Beautiful hotel, with some nice amenities. The entire experience was soured for us after our vehicle was robbed by the valets. After entrusting our vehicle to their service for less than two days, we had multiple small lens taken from the front seats. From a Bluetooth speaker to irreplaceable sentimental keepsakes. The management's response was even more disheartening. We were told by the front desk clerk that, 'there were a couple of the valets that she wouldn't trust at all. ' That's the type of person they choose to give full access to your vehicle. The manager on duty never even bothered to come out and apologize. They told us our only option was to fill out a police report, which we did. All the items taken were small sentimental things, which is what made the whole event so upsetting. In light of the very expensive cost you pay for these rooms, I would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere. The location was really the only thing that stood out from our stay, and there are other downtown options. I cannot express how disappointed I was with the management and staff at Haywood Park Hotel.

Rooms were great and staff was really polite. Great view. The only problem is that stuff in our car got stolen. The only people with access to our car were the valet personnel. So make sure you don't leave any valuables/cash sitting out. Which is nuts because you think this wouldn't happen in a hotel like this. Front desk said they will get to the bottom of it.

My family and I did not stay at the Haywood Park Hotel, so cannot speak on the service for those who stay. But dining there was top notch, for those who like to eat. Huge and varied buffet lines, classed up.

Outstanding service and location.

My sister and I stayed here last week in September. The best hotel ever. Staff was super friendly and location was perfect. The room was huge and the chocolates at night over the top delish. We highly recommend.

NOT SAFE FOR DOGS! I recently stayed at the Haywood Park hotel with my dog and wow, I will NEVER make that mistake again. My dog is a bit of an escape artist, but the Haywood is NOT SET UP for dogs. Any hotel that claims to be "dog friendly" should have a dead bolt in addition to the typical key card. Some dogs are able to open doors by jumping up on the door handle and this is exactly what happened. At least my dog would be stuck on that floor, right? WRONG. The Haywood had two fire escape/hallway exits on the floor and neither of them were closed all the way. My dog was able to nudge open the doors and enter the stairwell. From here, she went down the stairs and through a door that was labeled "ALARM will Sound if Opened". This was clearly not the case as she escaped through this door and out into the alley into the streets of Asheville. Thankfully this story has a happy ending as two guys were able to grab her as they saw her escape from the hotel and return to the front desk. The hotel did nothing, not even an apology. And I would never stay at the hotel if I didn't have a dog with me. It is EXTREMELY dated and felt like I walked into the 70's when I entered the room. In addition, the water pressure was horrible, the towels felt like sandpaper and the TV was the size of my iPad. To top it all off, the rate was ATROCIOUS. Don't waste your time or money here! I did some research and Hotel Indigo is also pet friendly, just a block away, much newer, nicer and friendlier.

I recently stayed here for business. The location is great, the rooms are spacious, and the people are fantastic. This hotel is nice, but it's really made excellent because of the folks who run it. I'll definitely return with my wife. Thanks.

July, 2010 My family and I were incredibly disappointed with this hotel. We had stayed at the Haywood many years before with comfort — this time, horrible. No air conditioning for over 24 hrs and perhaps there still is none as we checked out before it had been fixed. In the middle of the night are plumbing went out and we had to be moved to another room — only to find that room was not prepared so yet another switch. There was hardly any staff, the bell hop seemed to be the only person doing most of the hotel work and customer service. I love Asheville and will continue to visit, however until the Haywood parkis under better management, I will not return. There are too many other, nicer places to stay with staff that is available around the clock and air conditioning in the middle of the summer. Drive past this hotel — and look for a place to stay elsewhere.
