My husband and I took our niece and nephew here for the first time and it was delicious! There were so many flavors to choose from. All of the ice cream is homemade and it shows! The atmosphere was charming, and we enjoyed getting to know new people as we sat outside on the rocking chairs. The patio is dog friendly, so our pups were able to enjoy family time with us. We will be returning again soon!

We always stop at the Colonial Inn and Motel when we visit Watkins Glen. They have delicious homemade ice cream, and it is a must-stop location. We love it, the staff is extremely friendly and the ice cream is so yummy! I would highly recommend it.

The. Best. Ice cream. Ever. This place is amazing. The icecream is all homemade. Not your typical ice cream shop that buys from a large national distributor. The building is a gem. Well kept old in that will fill you with joy. Eat in there parlor and maybe catch some live music or sit on the front porch and watch the town go by. Do not go any where else for ice cream!

Just went for ice cream, but it was great! The inn looked lovely and I would recommend it if I knew friend were coming into town.

The ratings shown are for the ice cream shop. The inn is about a 1.5 rating at most. It's worth about $50 a night. Kinda clean. But you can't polish a turd. I'll never stay there again.

We stopped for ice cream and greatly enjoyed our two scoops of peach and java lava (a coffee raspberry). Both had strong fruit notes. There are also vegan and gluten free options for those with restricted diets.

We stopped for ice cream on the way through town. The staff was polite and friendly. My wife and I thought it seemed like a very nice place to stay if we ever have the need.

Great small town hotel. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some chains but gets the job done at a great price!

This is the best Ice Cream place in Watkins Glen with a wide selection of flavors and many vegan options! Generous portions, very reasonable prices and service that is second to none. If you find yourself in Watkins Glen looking for ice cream you owe yourself to pay them a visit! Enjoy!

While on our 35th anniversary trip we stopped in to eat ice cream on the recommendation of our Seneca Harbor Station server (Coleman). Good suggestion! They serve their own homemade ice cream with some unique flavor combinations. I had a scoop of Banana chocolate chip & a scoop of chocolate cookie dough. My wife had a scoop of Cherry vanilla & a scoop of butter pecan. Very good indeed!

More vegan options than I have seen in one place before (probably 8 flavors) and we got to taste them all before we made our decision. The vegan maple walnut with dark chocolate chips was awesome!

Great place to stay if you’re coming this way. Rooms are very clean. Staff are very friendly. The ice cream is amazingly. Wonderful village. Makes for a great long weekend getaway. May be hard to get a room here so try to book early if you can. It’s totally worth it!

I have never in my life stayed at such a NON-ACCOMIDATING motel. EVER! I only wanted to put my exhausted family to bed after hiking Watkins Glen all day w my 5 yr old twins & a puppy. The ice bucket of water was accidently spilled on the bed. I requested dry bedding @ about 8pm @ night. I was told NO cuz the housekeeper had left. Now I ask u? What kind of motel doesn't know how to solve this issue. one that I will never stay at again & you wont either if u may need a few xtra towels or dry bedding! its an ice cream store. Not a quaint lil motel. IF I COULD GIVE THIS MOTEL A 0 star, instead of a 1 star. I would! Do yourself a favor & DON'T STAY HERE.

We stopped in for the homemade ice cream. It is fantastic and the young lady that served us was friendly and accommodating. We'll certainly be stopping again!

Amazing artisanal ice cream… All made on premises! The owner, Paul, is SUPER friendly and spent a half hour chatting with us while we enjoyed the delectable dessert. Plus, their "small scoop" — for only $4 — is like an XL anywhere else. They'll pack in as many flavors as you want! I'd be remiss not to mention the honey area with a live bee hive, player piano, local pottery gallery, live music on the weekends, and a full tap room with local brews!

Truly the best ice cream I've ever had — so creamy and so flavorful. They let you taste as many as you like before committing, but I highly recommend the peach and mango, if they have them. Biscoff was also great.

Couldn't tell you how the vegan ice cream is because every flavor I asked for they were out of. While one of the girls went to look in the back to see what they had they took my friend's order. One of us ended up ice cream, awkward. The girl at the counter kept asking me what I wanted and then each flavor told me they didn't have it, gave up on that. Ended up going to Ben & Jerry's since it was close by and had options.

Great ice cream. Our server was super sweet and so polite. Have been there before and will definitely go again. We camp in the area so we have never stayed in the motel so can't rate that part.

Just another tasty, tasty ice cream experience to report. Regular Rocky Road in a sugar cone, none of that vegan nonsense.

The coconut-almond vegan ice cream choices were far fewer than the creative dairy-based flavors, but still diverse enough to entice us. The blueberry ice cream hit the spot after a hot summer day. They regularly have musicians performing in the room just next to the ice cream parlor, and the porch as plenty of seating to eat and people-watch from.

I should have given them negative rating. The staff and owner are extremely unprofessional. We booked almost 1 month before July 4 th weekend. We also gave them a phone call on July 1 before leaving to confirm and make sure our room is available. We were given confirmation that our room will be available but when we reached there around 8.30 pm after a 5 hours drive, first they gave us the room key and there was a surprise waiting for us — — — one family is already there checked in. Then after 30 min they discovered that they noted down our booking dates wrong from their website: we booked online from their site also we called them. At last the owner called other motels and hotels and arranged for one night in an another motel. On top of all this one of the motels they suggested for the remaining nights turned out to be bed bugs infected and had horrible reviews online. So for three days we stayed in three different motels. Even though the owner tried to arrange for some alternatives it was very unprofessional and irresponsible behavior.

Awesome little spot along the main drag! My fiance and I greatly enjoyed the company of the staff there and enjoyed a fresh brewski at their quaint little bar. Rooms were basic and just what we needed to explore Watkins Glen! Thank you!

We only had the ice cream here. The had a wide selection of Vegan ice creams as well. Very good.

I stayed here 2 nights as part of a 19-member bicycle-touring group through out the Finger Lakes area. We stayed at many upper end places but really enjoyed the Colonial Inn. It has a home-style atmosphere and we were quite pleased with our overall experience. The Colonial was clean and comfortable. The services were all within walking distance with many good ethnic restaurants, diners, and brew pubs. The owner joined us at our daily Happy Hour outside our rooms and gave us valuable information on what to do in Watkins Glen. My roommate enjoyed the shower facilities the best as compared to the other hotels we stayed at. After riding 60 miles on our bikes through the hot humid New York summer days, you need a better than average shower. Rooms varied in size with all nice décor. Furniture and beds were all in good repair. All in our group had nice things to say and there were no negative comments.

We stayed at the motel part. No frills, but the room was clean, with windows that opened — including the bathroom — which is always appreciated. The ac worked great, there was a fridge in the room and the proprietors are very accommodating.
