Great looking hotel! Staff was very helpful! Great location near Central Park and Time Square!

It was a perfect location. Best of all was size of the suite. Didn’t feel cramped with 4 adult size people. Loved the bed, towels, rain shower head. The lounge could use better quality cream and sugar for coffee. I liked how they provided FIJI water

Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful (I liked all the guys that worked the front desk), parking next door is cost effective compared to other places, it's a short walk to Times Square, bathroom mirror is great for applying makeup… nice and bright. Best rate for weekday travel. Cons: the pictures online look better than in person. The windows were dirty, the headboard was peeling, the carpet looked gross, and the shower was weird. The shower door doesn't close so water will get everywhere. We had to put down towels to avoid soaking the floor. It also could have used some deep cleaning. One night, we came in and saw a random man snoring in the very small lobby. Another night we saw what appeared to be a lady of the night walking out the door. The elevators are slow and I was terrified that we would get stuck. I could go on and on but I won't. I think you get the point. I doubt that I would ever stay here again.

Small room, small bathroom with no door to close in the shower. Water was everywhere. Floor was dirty. The bed was comfortable that's it. There was a curly head guy working the front desk that actually made our day and was very funny and relaxing.

Great room: clean, comfortable, private, quiet, really excellent all around. The front desk attendants were friendly, accommodating, and flexible and anticipated our needs at every step. Really great stay, highly recommend.

The rooms are very beautiful and the staff here is very polite and helpful. If you want to go and explore, they can give you maps and brochures to point you in the right direction.

Really nice hotel to rim furniture, especially the hallways, and a lounge too classy or take free snacks 24/24. Close to all the main attractions for new visitors to the Big Apple (Central Park, Times Square, the Hudson River, 5th Avenue, Hells kitchen just a side and I pass).
For your first stay, I recommend this hotel and for me who is starting to become a resident of this city, I would return to the modern with great pleasure.
Only Bemol. Air conditioning is too noisy but given the kilometers in the day, you will hear more.

Good central location in Manhattan, good communication to catch the Metro, bus, Uber etc. Clean, friendly staff. And well located.

We had a wonderful stay here! Great location, comfortable bed and friendly staff. They also charge a fair fee for the room. Two minutes from the subway and complimentary coffee, cocoa and cake in the morning. We would stay here again.

Love love loved this hotel! The staff were so welcoming and helpful! The hotel was super cute, clean and affordable! It was in a perfect location close to Central Park and Times Square among with many other different things to see and do. I have no complaints at all and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about planning a trip to NYC. If I ever go back and visit I’ll definitely be staying at The Moderne again!

Hands down, the best desk staff I've ever encountered. They remembered our names, asked us about our plans, and had genuine personalities. Honestly it's unheard of how amicable they are. The front desk called us the night before our departure asking if we needed late checkout or a car to the airport, which they offered to us at a flat rate. They even have umbrellas in the room for if it rains! For a boutique hotel, the rooms were a good size, the mini bar was cheap, the beds were incredibly comfy, and the shower was roomy enough for my 6'4" boyfriend. Bonus: Bigelow Apothecary toiletries. The only negative was the noise level, which was still lower than other boutique hotels I've been to, but don't expect complete silence at a smaller hotel. Overall an amazing value, and it really took the touristy feel out of the theater district location. It felt like a good launching point for my trip!

This hotel is a little jewel in the crown and a credit to NYC. The hotel is well located close to Broadway and Central Park. Our room on the 6th floor was fantastic and the amenities were first class. Staff were brilliant from Day one special mention to Robbie and Rick who on day one made us feel at home. The birthday cake in my room was a memorable touch and totally unexpected. Huge thanks to Teresa the Manager who has a wonderful hotel and I would recommend it to family and friends. We will be back guaranteed.

We stayed here for our honey moon. Great customer service from all three different people we met at the check in desk. They even let us check in about 2 hours earlier which was a plus since we were both very tired. They also were very helpful when it came to ordering room service they would call a local restaurant and order the food for you! I could go on and on about how great they were! We will definitely stay here whenever we go to New York again. It is also very close to times square literally a short walking distance. For the Starbucks lovers there is one just around the corner.

Staff was nice. Room was standard tiny NYC room. We left the room at 10 am asking for extra towels when serviced. We came home at 5:30 pm with our used towels on the bathroom floor, an unmade bed, and no extra towels. We also did not have control of the temperature in our room. I doubt we would return for the price. Location is good though.

Location of the impeccable hotel close to Times Square, Central Park, Top of the Rock… possibility to have access to hot beverages in self-service and in the morning cakes and fruits available in a warm room which can drastically reduce the Breakfast bill (you have to count between 12 and $18 per person! ). The staff is very attentive and enjoyable. On the other hand the hotel is not always very "modern"… Overall we recommend this hotel.

Been away from Moderne Hotel for a week and I'm none too pleased about it. You can't beat the location since it's walking distance from almost everything that matters. Loved my room, the entire staff (hey, Robbie! ) was spectacular, and I wanted to take them all home with me. Kind of don't want to talk it up too much since I want to be sure to get a room when I get back. Le Pain Quotidien across the street is perfect for breakfast. I'll be back! Thanks everyone!

We got the largest, newly refurbished suite. It's not really a suite, it's a bigger room with a couch. However it does have a balcony that's fairly sizeable, but without much of a view or furniture. Unless you consider other rooftops a view. The room is clean, reasonably appointed. The staff is friendly. There is a lounge on the second floor with a coffee machine. I wouldn't consider it a luxury hotel, but it's in a great location… Right next to the soup Nazi.

We stayed at Moderne while in New York on our honeymoon, we are so glad that we did. The rooms were BIG for New York and extremely clean. We loved the quirky-ness to this fabulous boutique hotel. Great location if you want to go and explore New York! The star were very friendly and accommodating. The coffee bar lounge the hotel is fantastic for their guests. We will definitely stay here again.

We left our car in the parking lot next to the hotel (very easy and convenient) and we did everything on foot! Time Sqare, Central Park, 5th Avenue, Metro, bus station pens station (for the MetLife Stadium in our case)
The king bed was very confo! The bathroom was small, but was doing ample business! The grout from the shower was stained but we saw that the whole thing was clean! The room on the second floor was enjoyed in the morning for free coffee and chatted with our couple of friends who also stayed at this hotel. On the other hand, as mentioned, it was not a lunch, but cupcakes. Very good restaurants are located in front and at the corners of the street. The air conditioning, although noisy (as in many hotels) did not derange me because it worked very well. We did not hear the neighbors, nor the people above, nor the people at the reception although our room was on the first floor. The window did not give a view, but had great to sleep later and afternoon naps (dark).
To conclude, the service was impeccable! We loved chatting with Robby who had a lot of good suggestions to make us!
We will definitely go back! Thank you very much to the whole team for this beautiful stay!

We loved it. Its a short walk to times square 5th ave central park and then some. Its a small hotel which ia great bc it cut back on the noise and amount if people just around. There's also a little market right down the street that was perfect for breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay.

Staff was super friendly and helpful! The location is great, close to Central Park and subways, and not at the heart of touristy areas. The only downside is that rooms were smaller and darker than the pictures online. We had a room that really didn't have a window. There was a small side window but it looked into the brick wall of a neighboring building, so it did feel a little claustrophobic at times. There is a small guest lounge that had free water and coffee/tea, which was thoughtful. Overall, great stay.

I'll start by saying that the room is NOT that small. For a NYC hotel for this price, it was perfectly fine and had plenty of room for two people to unpack and walk around. I live in Chicago, and trust me, I've been in smaller hotel rooms than this one. Those who are expecting grand entrances and chandeliers and spacious rooms need to go check into the Plaza, and then enjoy the $500+ per night price tag. With that out of the way, I thought this hotel was a great value. You're in the heart of the theater district, within a few blocks of all kinds of great touristy sites and restaurants. It's actually right down the street from the original soup stand that the "soup nazi" character from Seinfeld is based off of. Parking was easy. There was a garage right next door. The hotel will validate for a discount, but unfortunately the staff never mentioned this until after I paid the garage. I should have thought to ask, but it would have been nice if the staff was ready to mention this at check-in. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The king bed was not great. It was a spring mattress but they had it on a platform bed frame with no box springs, so there wasn't much support. If they're going to go for the modern look with a low platform bed, they really need to use foam mattress. The staff were really friendly and were excited to give restaurant recommendations and advice for touring the area.

The location was great, easy access to the subway, close walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. Rooms were very clean, modern art and decor, good size. The restaurant staff was amazing, extremely helpful and friendly, offering personal recommendations for anything you might need. Highly recommended!

A little hidden jewel among towering hotels. We love it here! So convenient to Broadway and Times Square. Food options everywhere. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great shower. Highly recommend.

My husband and I just wrapped up a 3 night stay at The Moderne for our honeymoon. A wonderful room, a wonderful stay and when we came back to the hotel the first night, there was a bottle of wine, glasses and an opener. A truely touching show of class and service. We both worked in hotels for 15 years so our expectations are high. This was top notch. We want you to know how much we appreciated that you helped make our trip special. So often your service gets muffled due to the attractions and sights around you. We saw you and we appreciate you. Props to you all.

Beautiful, absolutely comfortable, the staff super nice. It was my best experience at a hotel.

The beds were soft and the room was clean. But if you're intending to take a hot BATH after walking around all day in NYC, spend the extra money elsewhere. The glass shower doesn't even have a sliding door, it's just 1 piece of glass and the rest is open, you'll freeze to death and the floor is soaked afterwards. I read somewhere this was a "hidden gem". Obviously whoever thought that, has only stayed in a Super 8 motel and decided to upgrade to what they thought was Luxury. Don't waste your time here. Stay at The Muse. Much friendlier staff, bigger rooms, bathtub, door keys actually work, they offer to help with luggage, everything is so much better there.

We stayed for one week and had a great stay. The room was small but very nice with a comfortable bed and a nice clean bathroom. The staff was great, welcoming, friendly and helpful, especially Robbi with whom we had the most contact. The location of the hotel is also good, close to everything that midtown, Hells kitchen and the centralpark area has to offer. Highly recommended if you want good value for your money.

The hotel was definitely not one of the main lines of hotels in NYC — translation it is SMALL — there is no grand lobby and you will rarely even see another guest (there's only 7 floors + penthouse with about 5 rooms/floor). The washroom was small but functional and nicely finished (rain shower head, sink, toilet, no tub), but the bed is large and luxurious (almost too big for the space as other than room to walk around the bed there's not a whole lot of extra room, but again it is very nicely finished. Only downsides were that the AC only partly worked (we set it to about 20 the whole week and it usually was between 25 and 26), the toilet/water pipes were a little noisy at times, and the room faced a brick wall, so there was no concept of day or night once you were inside the room. The location was great though — 5 minutes down to Times Square and 5 minutes up to Central Park and not on a busy street so there wasn't really any traffic noise! The staff — especially Robbi were fantastic, very friendly and they were great with recommendations for dining when asked! We're used to more big name hotels with larger rooms, lobbies, and staff, and given the brick wall I don't know if I would necessarily stay there again, but those larger hotels do tend to be a little noisier and less personal so that aspect of this hotel was great! (It was really nice not being kept up by other guests and being greated with a warm smile and being asked about our day EVERY day!

Front desk people NOT helpful at all. Some guy standing around holding up the wall, while we struggled with the cart with our luggage. Our vehicle was over sized and couldn't use garage next to the hotel, and again front desk unhelpful, couldn't get us to a garage close enough to accommodate. Had to walk 10 blocks to get to car. They used my credit card without my permission on another room after I already checked out and paid in cash. They NEVER answer the phone at the front desk to try and resolve issue. After 1 month they sent an email?!? Situation still not resolved.

Nice small hotel in a good location for visiting NYC. The rooms are small, but well appointed. Best thing about the room we had was the quietness and ability to hereto the spoon dark when you needed to feet some rest. The lift is slow, you can take the stairs. Staff are professional and helpful. A good hotel for the basics — somewhere to sleep at night between your days out seeing the sights. Probably not the best for a business trip because of the limited facilities.

The hotel is well in general. Very well located within walking distance of Times Square and Central Park. Metro not far away. The staff a bit fair. Clean right size but very noisy rooms: the Interior overlooking a courtyard inside where he heard the machines much ventilation.

We stayed here being our first time in NY. The hotel was a lot smaller then I thought. The room was a lot smaller then we thought also. Not really worth the 350 $ we paid for a "suite". The staff was really nice and the hotel is really clean.

We stayed at this hotel. The staff was very helpful. When we checked in it was very hot. During the afternoon of the first day our air conditioner broke. We called the front desk. They showed us two other rooms where the air conditioning was working. They moved all of our luggage and refused to take a tip for doing so. They asked us every day if everything was okay. I thought it was a very cute hotel.

Perfect situation, the rooms were good, the staff very friendly and for 8 nights 1000 dollars would that can ask for more?. That without great luxury it is a sleeping and because, for the type of tourists like me who just wants to visit the city and staying in the hotel for perfect sleep. I highly recommend it.
