Not a great experience! We were promised a specific room, (although they say they do not do that) and when arriving got the room that was so tiny that we could not have our suit cases in and walk to the toilet. Needless to say… it was terrible. We went to another hotel that was top notch and fabulous for the same price! What a difference. Do not waste your time and $$$$$.

Vanessa the manager was so helpful. She seemed really genuine and very informed on the questions I had. I will definitely stay there again.

The room (Junior suite) was small, as on the pictures, but comfortable. In comparison the bathroom was much more large. The staff was friendly and efficient.

On Average, I stay approx. 180 days a year in 3+, 4+ hotels. As a Gold/VIP member of all Expedia sites, I was shocked when Chelsea Inn declined to cancel my booking — 3 days before check-in. During the last 3 years, I never had a problem canceling my booking… Anyways… I stayed in Chelsea Inn for 14 days. During my stays, staffs at the front desk did their best to provide me a good service. Therefore, I give 5 star… The end…

Arrived very late after a long journey only to discover that my reservation was for the following week. They still had 1 room left, and Michael at the desk was amazing. He recommended an all night deli that delivered us terrific sandwiches and beer at 3 a. M. Chatted with us, and helped many times with other little things. Made our stay super great!

Ideal location in Manhattan. Center for everything and near subway station too.
Service is good except the payment processing that always happen that they have double charging all the time. I don understand why.

Great Location right near 5th Avenue, so lots of shopping and events nearby. Public transportation is easily accessible. Rooms are basic, include a TV. The shared bathroom is small but not unmanageable. Staff were welcoming and helpful. They serve a small continental breakfast that was very good.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is great. Building and rooms were clean but very run down. In desperate need of maintenance. Walls and decor was generally quite shabby. Bed was wobbly and almost broken — very creaky too, meaning any movements during the night woke us up. Almost-see-through curtains meaning lots of light coming into the room during the night and early morning. Thinnest toilet paper I've ever seen in the bathroom. There were no duvet covers, which was strange. Walls were paper-thin so we could hear all the other guests outside and in their rooms. Doors banged very loud and could be heard throughout the whole building. Woke up several times during the night due to creaky bed and very loud guests.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are small but very clean and the mattress is nice and firm. My wife and I have a hard time finding a firm mattress when we travel. She wishes there was a full length mirror in the room, but we are picking knits at this point. A great two night stay.

The only downfall was you could here what was going on in the hallway from the floors below. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay here very much. It was not far from anything my wife and I did. It was very clean, comfy, and the servoce was excellent!

I recommend to avoid this place! I’ve booked this place for 3 people, and the room was prepared just for 2. The room was tiny, with thin walls, so it was very noisy. The staffs were’t friendly at all, they attended my claim just after calling booking support. I had to check out after one night although my reservation was for 5 nights.

Almost perfect!
The location is very central and very close to both the subway and the main points of Manhattan.
The rooms are true which are very small, but they are well appointed and all in all comfortable. We had a room on the ground floor and for this it was very noisy. If unlike me you are a light sleeper I do not recommend the rooms on the ground floor. Request a room on the upper floors!
The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The only two points to improve in my opinion are the cleanliness and the Guest room: The room could be cleaner and the sofa bed had all the lining full of stains. Although this is absolutely livable and if we want this is a fussiness mia.
As for the Guest Room I appreciated that it was there and it was stocked with coffee, tea, juice and water. But in three mornings when I tried to do "breakfast" I found the muffins only the first time. They should keep an eye on her a little better and supply her with food and drink at least during breakfast hours.
The total price of our stay was absolutely right for the room.
If I were to go back to NYC I think I would choose Chelsea Inn again!

Broken heating, cleaning service They do not, windows with holes… you claim and no one of your staff takes over. Noisy rooms. I'll never come back. You get ripped off.

Great location, easy to walk to the villages or a short subway to Times Square. Would be nice if the towels were replaced every few days. Has a complementary snack room with tea, juice, sweets and mini muffins most mornings as well as a printer and computer.

Good place to host, clean, friendly service. I do not put 5 stars down the stairs, we were in the room and does not have a lift.

Great location — literally couldn’t ask for better — fab bars and restaurants on your doorstep. Very small room but can’t complain by NYC standards. Very happy to have private bathroom. Very upset about the lack of a lift for our suitcases but the lovely reception staff offered to help with the fairs. All in all I would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are smaller than in the photos, they are not well kept scratches, dents, fraying cupboards, burnt out light bulbs. They charge you hospitality fee but barely clean the rooms. My room had a dirty cup in it and stained sheets. There was garbage sitting outside the window. There is no elevator and didn't see that listed on booking sites. The climate control is very confusing and not preset for guest arrival so the room was very cold. Not very sound proof can hear everything around you and outside. Rather stay at Yolo or Pod hotels for small rooms that are cleaner and more amenities.

Very clean, small but nice rooms. The staff was not very helpful, I waited 5 minutes to check in because the guy was on a personal call. Also not great that there is no elevator.

Great Place! I would always come back! Best value for money! You can easily walk to all main attractions in NYC and you have all the main shops right around the corner. The rooms are small and clean! We really enjoyed our stay!

It is nice but a little small we did not have a mini fridge for the first 2 days and our toilet flooded from the room service cleaning.

Problems with cancellations free offered at Boocking and the problem is the property! They SAY FREE CANCELLATION 24 hours and do not comply! Do not answer to emails, there is no way to contact the manager Vanesaa!

Super location and nice staff. For the price and rooms super fair. The rooms are small and cosy. If you don't come to NY for the first time, the small rooms are already used to. In the area is all you need. In 25 minutes, you're in Times Square or Macy.
What you should know is that the hotel doesn't have a lift and you can land on the 5 floor like us.
Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and fan, as well as heating. Fixed are normal and if you come to a city, you should adjust to volume.

Pros: affordable, pretty clean (coffee stain on a side table but otherwise clean), nice front desk staff Cons: — the first room they put me had its entrance literally in the lobby where music was playing and people were loud. The front desk said it wouldn’t be loud. It was. — the room I switched to had its water heater super, super loud and was leaking water all over the floor. Also, the blinds don’t turn up or down so not as much privacy as you might like — calling the front desk for help had the front desk person come up; he said the attendant who is supposed to help these matters went AWOL — the next day, the heat didn’t work at all — was frigid cold — for 2 days in a row they had no bar soap. I even went to the front desk to ask, and they said they ran out and only had body wash. So I washed my hands with body wash. — if someone is loud in the hallway, it echoes into the rooms which are long and narrow. — TV guide channel shows channel names but no show descriptions so you have to flip through each channel like back in the 90’s Overall. It was more affordable than other hotels nearby and I had fairly low expectations. Unfortunately my experience fell bellow those expectations.

Small but clean. Housekeeping was inconsistent and towels and cups were not replaced daily. Fairly quiet. Management too willing to scold employees in front of guests. Very, very kind and helpful desk staff.

Hotel it's ok. Out room was very small, quite noisy from the road down below. Not very good window sound insulation. On a positive side room was clean and tidy. But guess that's what you get for the money we paid to stay in Manhattan New York.

Nice rooms, but "shared bathroom" was a bad experience. I stayed here several times, it was always very nice. My last time I stayed in the room that shares a bathroom with another room. Sharing bathrooms was not annoying, but two rooms shared a little hallway which had a bright light. Each of the two rooms had a "window" above the door, which you can't see out of, but it let the bright light from the hallway into the room, making it hard to sleep. On top of that, the bathroom for some reason had a Jacuzzi that made horrible noises, so when our drunk neighbor attempted to use it at 1 am, there was no sleep for anyone in the vicinity. Both issues seriously look just like construction defects. Also, Wi-Fi was basically nonexistent (loading a simple page took a minute), so here goes the third star. I would nevertheless stay here again, and may add stars back if these issues are fixed!

Big ups to Delenia… she was the bomb very knowledgeable and professional. I call this a hidden treasure… my stay was absolutely wonderful and affordable. I will stay again hopefully Delenia will still be at the front desk or promoted.

Great little contemporary hotel; I enjoyed my three night stay here while utilizing two rooms (due to planning error). No issues with shared bath scenario. Yes, rooms are small, it's NYC, what do you expect?! Rooms and bathrooms were clean with plenty of towels. There was breakfast served downstairs for free (coffee, muffins, doughnuts, cereal, etc. ). Staff were friendly and helpful. I had quick access via Uber at this location not waiting long at all. Try the Belgian restaurant next door! Note, there is no elevator if that's an issue for you. Thank you Chelsea Inn Hotel for a great stay in NYC.

Very Bruillante Street at night and poorly soundproofed room even on the 4th floor!

The hotel room was a bit small but good enough given the location. The staff were very nice and helpful. This is probably mentioned but they do not have an elevator so plan accordingly. The hotel was clean and very stylish. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel.

The room is clean, the staff is friendly and the bathroom is very. However, my room had a pipe going from the ceiling to the floor near the bed, and hot water seemed to flow through it to help heat the room (I'm not sure what it was for). The pipe was so close to the bed that I was afraid of accidentally touching it while sleeping, which would be dangerous. Thankfully, it didn't happen, but around 7 AM the pipe started making noises as if the water was not flowing steadily through it. I unfortunately woke up because of it, which was annoying. Besides this, it a good option in a great neighborhood at a reasonable price.

Hotel in renovation in August 2016… We did not find ourselves very well…

Stumbled across The Chelsea Inn while looking for a place to stay (dec 27-29), absolutely loved this place. My wife and I loved the room and the staff was very nice and helpful. Parking locations are very close if you drive into the city. Prices were extremely reasonable, and location is perfect. Will definitely be back very soon.

For the area it is not at all expensive, when I went, the halls and stairs were under renovation, so that was the best! But the rooms are first! I would give 4 and half stars if I could.

My children and I took a weekend mothers day getaway to New York. For the most part the price was perfect for the location… the inside walking in looked spooky but when we entered the room spectacular for what I thought would be a tragic end. Con's: no air in the room. I think their unit controls all the rooms. Although it was cold outside… inside was hot and needed more than the ceiling fan.

I originally picked this hotel, because my girlfriend's name is chelsea. But it was such a cute little place! And the staff was really nice and helpful!

Poor customer service, under renovation, nothing like the pictures, requested room for 3 and got a room with 1 bed.

The +:
-good location.
-Relatively low price for NY 5th.
-Correct and clean room, renovated very recently (March 2016).
Less:
-not a lot of pressure in the shower but "it goes".
-No lift, it is hard if you have heavy luggage, especially on the 5th floor.

The room was fine but the hotel is very dirty. There is construction happening at this time. The bathrooms and hallways are covered in dust and dirt and, when I mentioned this to the hotel, I was told that the cleaning staff leaves at 5. Room cleaning was great one day and pretty bad the next. There was no Wi-Fi service. I thought the hotel response was very poor. The desk staff was friendly. I would not recommend staying here.

Very good experience. Wi-Fi, TV with cable. A very comfortable bed and bathroom always clean and spacious. Close to everything, one block from the metro.

Best value in Manhattan. Renovations are great. Rooms are spotless. Brand new bathroom. Housekeeping daily. Has warmth and charm typically never found at budget priced hotels. Amazing location to Chelsea, Meat Packing District, high line. I would definitely stay here again. I stayed here for 2 weeks while in town for a major event.

My husband and I stay here every time we go to NY. It's a great value! It's got loads of charm and character, fantastic location, and for NY — — decently sized rooms. The hotel gives you cards worth $3 per person per day to use at the cute little cafe next door; that'll get you coffee + a pastry — decent breakfast! We always get a room with a shared bath, but it's not bad because the bath is only shared with one other room. Our rooms have always been very quiet; I'm not sure why some reviews complain of noise. The beds aren't that great, everything is old, and the staff could be friendlier — — but if you want location + character + bargain this is a fantastic option.

The Chelsea Inn was highly disappointing hotel. The rooms were very dirty, the towels had stains on them, the carpet smelled like mold, etc. All in all, the experience was not a very good one. Especially for the price, we would never stay here again.

A real bargain for this location and this price. The place is good for what you pay, everything necessary around and like the included breakfast. I stop there every times I pass by New York for business.

Cons: Everything. Hostel-like; noisy; no laundry; dirty a/c; Very bad breakfast — and that's all for $150/night. Welcome to NYC :) Pros: Location.

Whenever I go to NYC and someone else is paying I stay near Central Park but when I'm paying it's the Chelsea all the way. Keep in mind I traveled to 30 countries most of them with just a few main roads and I gave up my "I need a Hilton to be comfortable. " a LOOOONG time ago. That said for NYC, the money and location Chelsea Inn is where it's at. It's not a room to hang out in but it is a place to sleep. Yes there's a club below but I was too tired to care. The front desk isn't fussy but is accommodating. If you're expecting a Hilton then go stay there this isn't it, it's a place to lay your head on a bed that doesn't have lice or whatever and not having to share your bathroom with some chronic homeless guy name Grover. Best deal for single gals who don't mind sharing room/bathroom. Cheap for two! Luv it.
