Reviews of Empire Hotel 4*
Planned a family trip months ago. Reserved a room to be paid at checkin. The Hotel blatantly cancelled my reservation the night before check-in. Very unprofessional and unethical. I called and they put me on hold and never returned. Too bad. I was excited about bringing my family here. I can’t believe that they would do this the night before my arrival. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else that will treat you better. No explanation or apology. Unacceptable.
The Empire Hotel is adorable! The lobby is decorated nicely, the adventure up to the pool and rooftop sanctuary is fun, and the views are pretty darn nice! I loved the tiny, quaint room. All members of the staff were super nice and very professional. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay here again.
This is my second time staying at this hotel love love it definitely recommend it.
Beautiful restaurant on the roof.
I would not recommend this hotel, horrible customer service & terrible response during the COVID-19 crisis. Have called many times regarding a refund & they would put you in waiting time for hours and just hang up at the end. The pool is very small so don’t get distracted by that. Also they would not open the roof top (pool) if the weather says 30% rain by 6pm. It’s ridiculous, they could open at least in the morning… Not even an apology for all the errors that they made.
Great vibe at the rooftop bar.
Great customer service, especially from our waitress, Esther, at the rooftop. She went above and beyond and we really enjoyed her kind and honest energy.
I would not recommend this hotel, horrible customer service & terrible response during the COVID-19 crisis. Have called many times regarding a refund & each time told it's being reviewed or that management will call me to discuss, needless to say they did not make any effort to follow up or return my calls. We were married in April 2020 & this trip was to be our honeymoon, unfortunately we live in Australia & a travel ban was set preventing us from taking our honeymoon. Of all the accommodation I had to cancel this is the only one that has not been refunded, during one phone call an employee admitted to me that the hotel was not even operational during our intended stay. I have to say that I hope this is a case of one bad egg & is not a representation of New York hospitality in general. My advice to others, book somewhere else.
I am extremely upset with this hotel’s response during a national pandemic. My family booked a trip to New York to travel in April, which obviously had to be canceled due to COVID-19. After trying to get a refund for our hotel reservation, we were told we could get a credit to use by December 2020. We explained we had a pregnant traveler, children & elderly person & could not travel due to the risk of COVID-19. After months of trying to receive a refund, which several hotels, cruise lines, even Disney are allowing for refunds even on non-refundable bookings, we have been unsuccessful. It’s a shame because we have been keeping up with the news in New York, especially during this pandemic. There have been camps set out in Central Park for people who have died due to COVID-19… the crime rate has increased significantly during this time… it’s horrible that this company will not refund our reservation when we have explained our situation. I booked this hotel because I was excited to be in the hotel filmed in Gossip Girl. This trip was intended for my brother to propose to his girlfriend. With children, someone pregnant & elderly we cannot travel to a state with such horrible cases of COVID-19 & high crime rates. Please avoid booking with this hotel so you don’t have the issues we’ve had during this pandemic.
Very nice, free water everyday, nice staff.
Great food and awesome view!
Just got home after a 4 night stay in room 608. Mr & Mrs Hewitt
easy check in handed a couple bottles water on arrival.
wasnt offered a bell boy service to room though?
super friendly staff in a great location just 10min away from central park 15-20min time square.
Room was average to be honest expect a little more for the price charged very small cramped room with a rusty bathroom advertised as a queen bed but no more than a oversized double nothing special.
would be nice to have mini bar options in rooms also a tea/coffee facility in room maybe?
we used the roof top bar to say expensive is understated $16.50 for a single malibu & lemonade just no need to charge more than it costs to buy a full bottle!
would we return. Probably not if honest much cheaper hotels offering the same service so when we return next year we shall not be re booking the Empire.
Great Location, friendly staff, rooms are small but you get the New York experience. Great Bedding. 15 mins to everywhere The Dakota, Strawberry Fields memorial. Central Park Lincoln Plaaza, Columbus Circle, Time Square, 5th Avenue etc…
What a lovely location… Lincoln center, central park, columbus circle just to name a few. A very nice hotel, with friendly staff. From the bar to the Concierge/doormen it was such a good experience. The rooftop bar was nice and elegant. The drinks in both the rooftop and hotel were great. The room we had were kind of small, enough for 2 people only, unless your staying in a suite. I would stay here again.
Great location and easy to get to.
We’ve stayed here many times and each time is a great experience. The staff, environment and convenient location to anywhere are reason to book here.
Old rooms,
dirty,
they charge for coffee in room for coffe machine.
badly placed furniture make it difficult to maneuver, and exit enter bathroom.
No room service available. For a four star it should be perhaps a 2 1/2 star. Very worn and old in air conditioners very noisy not central. Would not stay here again. High price for at best a 3*.
Shower broken switch, leaving only above head shower without the option of hand held unit. Flimsy curtain allowing water to flow out of shower stall.
I stayed from the 29th Aug to the 2nd Sept, the staff were so helpful, from the guys at the entrance
Through to reception & Management. Friendly atmosphere, had a double double & a junior suite for the last night.
Couldn’t fault a thing. Gossip Girl was filmed here so it was a bonus for my girls, roof top cocktail bar was great with fantastic views.
Didn’t use the rooftop pool. We would go back any day. The location was Upper West side, one or two
Blocks from Central Park & the John Lennon memorial. We had breakfast everyday in Central Park.
Daily complimentary water, toiletries were lovely.
Thank you for an amazing stay.
The room was too small for my family of 4.
The picture of the pool is deceiving. It was more like a tub. The shower and bathroom was so small that EVERYTHING got wet. Floor toliet door. The staff was very nice. The rooftop was cool to hangout at.
They charged my credit card 4 times for a 3 night stay 1400, 1300, 1200 and 1100, they said this is pre-authorization! This is BS they froze thousands of dollars for. 1311.60 stay! Terrible customer service and I have never had this happen to me at any hotel anywhere in the country! On top of this the fridge didnt work, and the room was not cleaned!
This is our 3rd visit here. Hotel itself is very comfortable nicely appointed inside. Very friendly staff. Rooms on the small side but comfortable. Nice bathroom amenities. Rooftop garden and lounge was really nice. Good food. Pool was nice but very small. The only thing would be a better was for hotel guest to get to the lounge and pool.
It is beautiful there and staff is very helpful the pool is small but the hole deck area is huge I wish I would have staid here my hole stay in nyc the only thing is remember there is always a deposit here it’s 150.00 but you do get it back I recommend this place for sure 3 minutes to walk to Central Park.
Beautiful place to be, so romantic and a wonderful site of NYC! Love it!
Loved this hotel. Got a crazy good deal on my room for the night. Very clean and friendly professional staff. The roof top bar is a must.
I loved my stay at the Empire Hotel. Everything about it was amazing and everything I love about New York was right outside the door. I would recommend this classy, affordable Hotel to anybody who is going to NYC for the first time because it’ll definitely make you wanna come back… ❤️❤️
Really really bad service! They over charged me and I’ve been calling sooo many times the accounting team never pick up the calls, I left multiple voicemails and sent emails, also tried to reach through Facebook, but no one cares or return my calls. Very disappointing experience. Will never stay there again and do not recommend this hotel.
It was my very first trip to NYC! I could feel the electricity in the air! My first hotel stay was here at The Empire. It is located across from Lincoln Center, and walking distance to Times Square! The hotel is older, the rooms are small, and there is no central air conditioning. However it’s got a cool vibe to it. Really enjoyed the rooftop pool and bar. I just wish the pool was bigger! They gave us a very very late check out which was appreciated. 3.5 stars.
This is a nice hotel located on west 63rd street. Servicing the upper West side of Manhattan. Valet parking is available. Clean facilities with a wheelchair accessible entrance. Nice rooms. Pleasant staff. Close to stores and restaurants. Easy to see. Manhattan prices so bring your credit card. We will definitely be going back… Thank you to the owner for responding. You have to great and unique business. We look forward to going back. Eric San José
Just got back from a girls getaway weekend in New York and have to say, we are so happy with our choice to stay at the The Empire Hotel. My friend and I were first time visitors to The Empire Hotel, and Kristopher the owner went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. The personal touch was far above anything we'd get staying at a mainstream hotel. Kristopher let us take the hotel bikes out for the day which was really cool. If you're looking for something different, this is it. And the price is about the same, if not lower, than what you'd pay for a typical hotel in downtown. Also — kind of random but the showers are AMAZING. Highly recommend this hotel. Thank you Kathy for a great stay! We hope to be back sooner than later :)
Stayed at The Empire for 4 days with my son and we loved it couldn’t fault it great location, and a very kind gesture from Jose (forgive me if not spelt like this) after realising when I nearly arrived at the airport that I had left my back pack behind with mine and my sons passports in so would of be unable to fly back to the uk, Jose clocked out of work at 3 then jumped on a train carrying my back pack with passports and a considerable amount of cash and headed to JFK airport to meet us at terminal 7, I’m guessing took him an hour if not more on the train but he got there with plenty time to spare for us to catch our flight, he just arrived not a care in the world “ Hi Sir this your back pack? ” Like it was a every day thing, he didn’t have to do such a kind thing, we were so happy to see him, saved the day Jose, passports, money etc exactly how I left it, very genuine honest guy! We can’t thank him enough and we’ll sure be visiting your hotel again, and there’ll be a few beers bought for Jose! Top Guy! Apart from a great stay at your hotel this just goes to show what a first class hotel and staff this hotel is, Thanks again for a great stay and a massive thank you to Jose
Regards Davy & Ben.
Stayed here for one night on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Checked-in around 5:15pm. Mackenzie at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer. Excellent customer service! The lobby is gorgeous. Had room 518 — a Junior Suite which sits at the end of a hall — that has a magnificent view of Lincoln Center and the fountain. The room is superb, nice sized, with a comfortable sitting chair, and a writing desk with chair. The bathroom has a large rain forest-style shower head which was wonderful. Briefly visited the incredible rooftop lounge area and pool around 6:30pm, and it wasn’t too crowded yet. Didn’t use the bar or room service. I brought ear plugs (use them at home as well) which helped with the minor bit of late-night street noise (occasional siren) and any hallway passerby’s. The bed was very comfortable, and with a well-functioning air conditioner which kept he room delightfully cool, slept like a baby. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re in the area or seeing a show at the Lincoln Center.
I wish that I could say that I was impressed. The hotel staff is not that friendly and the pool is tiny and overcrowded with children. My room was very clean, the bed was super comfy, and I heard no noises from the outside while I was in my room. Jacques and Eugene were the nicest staff members. The hostesses on the rooftop were not friendly at all! Oh, the views were quite gorgeous and the location is ideal!
Horrible experience at this hotel recently and would never return. Guaranteed check in at 3pm turned into 5:30 pm check in to a different room with smaller beds. Once we arrived in our room we found the air conditioner to not be working. We were told it was an easy fix, left for dinner and came back to a stiflingly hot room. Mind you it’s late, we have two small children and I am pregnant. We were switched to another smaller room then. At check out they wanted to charge us for the original larger room! Terrible customer service.
I have not stayed there, I was only in the rooftop bar. They served fantastic food and the service was very polite. There are four different seating areas that are really comfortable and the view is amazing. You can see the entire Lincoln Center, which is beautiful. A cool place to stop by after a show or a concert. They cold use some blankets for the cold nights, that might people there a bit longer.
Rooms are very small but the service is very good. My daughter told me that this is where some of the Gossip Girls episodes were filmed but that made no difference to me because I'm proud I've never having seen Gossip Girls. The one issue that we had was that our room was warm and they came up to look at the air conditioner three times. The air was coming out cool but it wasn't circulating and it wasn't enough to keep the room comfortable. I asked for a fan and they brought it up right away and they also gave us the option to change rooms so I can't complain too much about it. If your room seems warm ask for a fan and you'll be fine. There's lots of restaurants and shopping around the area and as a matter of fact there's a Starbucks right next door on the ground level to the hotel. It's a little pricey so look for specials but then again it's right and Manhattan and very close to Central Park.
The staff was very friendly and helpful! Housekeeping did a wonderful job maneuvering around all of our stuff — we came back to a spotless room at the end of our daily adventures! The hotel is very quaint — Located just a few blocks from Central Park, and less than a15 minute walk to the hustle & bustle of the city, it was the perfect location for our family! I would definitely stay there again and I would have no trouble recommending this hotel to others.
Nice hotel, good location. The double room and the bathroom, are quite small, the bathroom would need a good refreshment. Air conditioning very noisy. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Happy with our stay overall.
A/c wasn't too strong my room was actually kinda warm. Bed was very comfortable, staff was also friendly. One of the smaller bathrooms in Manhattan. Great location if you don't like to much foot traffic but want to be in the mix close to restaurants and shops. Not enough wall outlets in the room. Cool restaurant bar on the rooftop. Bartenders make great drinks!
I will admit upon our arrival we had a few hiccups with our lock on the door and a leak in the bathroom. They promptly rectified the situation and moved us to another room where no further issues ensued. I don’t like the fact that the only fridge is full to capacity with overpriced drinks so there is no room for my stuff that I wanted to buy. I do like the fact that even though there isn’t a ice machine they will bring you ice at no charge. Internet is completely free so that is also a plus. The staff has been amazing and the rooms and beds were comfy. The ac could work better but overall it’s workable. This hotel is not soundproof! So if you need quiet this is not for you. It’s night two for us and I’ve already drowned out most the noise but wouldn’t recommend it for someone who is a light sleeper.
Overrall the hotel was nice, the room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were also very nice and helpful. But there were small signs of wear and tear that marked it as an older hotel. I also wasn’t a fan of the rain shower. But I would definitely stay there again if I’m heading to a show at Lincoln Center.
Nice, renovated, hip hotel. As with many NYC hotels, rooms and beds are small (or perhaps better choice of words would be European size). But overall, cool hotel relatively close to Central Park. Times Square is within walking range. Recommend for an adventurous traveler (family traveler, with small kids, should probably look elsewhere).
Very lovely place with cool decor and a great view of the Upper West Side. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a great mini bar in my room along with a stocked refrigerator full of beers, liquors and mixers. Also, my daughter and I went up to the rooftop lounge and had the breakfast buffet and let me tell you, the sausage and bacon were amazing! I would definitely stay again.
If you have money to throw out the Windows go!
To begin with, when we booked the amount of the room was to be debited only when we arrived, finally it was debited immediately… €1500 when it was not planned, Ouch Ouch Ouch! Mail sent to the hotel remained unanswered!
About the welcome, to review absolutely! We are not guided to our room, we do not explain the operation of the hotel, we also discovered that there was a roof top on the last day, convenient!
Description of the hotel including a swimming pool, non existent! Has been closed for almost a year apparently.
Regarding the "sympathy" to review also! Apart from the very smiling doormen, the staff is condescending, seems annoyed…
About the room, a horror! Very small, dilated, peeling paints… insulation to review because despite the 10th floor room very noisy!
We do not even offer a bottle of water or a coffee, everything is paying and very expensive ($5 the small bottle of water, $4 the coffee…)
No bathrobe or slippers… for a 4 star this is not top!
For this price go to see elsewhere, you will undoubtedly find much better than this hotel!
For the Community Manager: it is not worth replying to my comment by one of your comments copied pasted.
It is suprising how bad this hotel turned out to be. First of all, despite the name and location, it has nothing to do with a hotel rated over 3 stars or even 2 to be honest. Almost no sound proofing means you have a constant noise in the room making it impossible to sleep, criminally overpriced room rates, cockroaches in the rooms, shower units partly broken, mold around the walls and in corners where its obvious thay think its not worth cleaning, and basic services lacking or charged out of proportion. No hair dryers in rooms, a small water bottled charged 5 dollars and Wi-Fi only available for 10 dollars per day, per device! Yes, per device!.
Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
They overbook rooms all the time. I was falsely told they only had a small room the first night of a 4 night stay. I had been advised to call daily as there are cancellations. I did so from abroad 4 times and on the day was assured a room was available. The following day I asked about the room change to be told it wasn’t available but would be the following day by a ‘manager’ lacking any customer experience skills who insisted it was my fault for booking the wrong room. Whilst she did this, two sets of customers shared the same predicament complaining of elderly family members sleeping on the floor. I had asked the manager to put this in writing so I am not then having the same conversation again. She did not. I simply booked at a neighboring hotel and left never to return or be subjected to their deliberate ploy of overbooking. I am sure there must be a local fire policy they are breaking.
Chic and easy to get to. Perfectly located in Columbus Circle near most trains. Quiet and comfortable rooms. Bathrooms are modern. The only negative was they don't have smart TVs so make sure to bring HDMI cable if u want to screen mirror.
I visited the rooftop bar and the decor is beautiful with amazing views of Manhattan. There are two bars and one area is for dancing and bottle service it seems and the other side seems more for sitting down and talking while listening to live music. Really nice!
Beautiful, very comfortable beds or cleaning service very friendly. I hope I can come back.
Well located at the top end of Broadway near to Central Park the Room was clean and well equipped although there was no dressing gowns and slippers as advertised but that was a small detail. Bathroom is a little on the small side but we have stayed In places that are even smaller all the usual things in the room shower gel, shampoo etc and the shower was a walk in and excellent we will be back again to this lovely hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The Empire Hotel the name speaks for itself, I came to this hotel last year and I enjoyed my stay here. Pardon that It took me almost a year to provide my experience and feedback. But never the less they took my reservation over the phone and booked me wright away with a JR, Suite. When I arrived there is a door man waiting to greet you and assist you in anyway possible. As I was waiting to checked in the hotel rep informed if I would like to take a seat by the mezzanine lounge and have a drink as I wait to be checked in. She was very polite and patient. First floor lounge/bar is cozy lights are easy on the eyes, music has a soft but up beat tempo. The mezzanine on the second level is also very comfortable. I also ventured up to the lounge they have on the roof, you can see all of upper eat side of Manhattan near the Met-Opera House. I really enjoyed my stay here, my room was spotless and well cleaned, the bedding and pillows just perfect. Stand up shower was just wright. Will be visiting in the near future.
Excellent location, serves as a good starting point, very friendly staff, very small but clean rooms.
I have been to New York and have stayed at this hotel very friendly staff The lobby is very caring and cozy also has a cocktail counter. The rooms very nice and clean recommended.
My husband and I stayed here and we had an excellent time. The staff were all very friendly and professional, and the room was great. We got a double, so it wasn't a very large room, but you're in the middle of NYC — you can't really expect a huge room. We enjoyed our time here and we're looking forward to our next stay!
Not my favorite New York hotel but a decent one. It's starting to feel a bit aged. My room this last time had one AC unit only heating, wouldn't cool and one that was doing a great job cooling. I definitely don't mind staying here, I've done it multiple times but like I said, it's starting to feel aged.
Great experience. Excellent help from staff upon arrival and very accomodating. Nice clean rooms and bathrooms. Hairdryer and Iron w/ board all included in room, along with easily programmable safe. Staff fantastic with recommendations and extremely helpful. Cannot recommend The Empire enough. Will be back.
First of all very important!
To grumble about strong water and bad vista is very dumb.
We had a room not my liking according to a short conversation at the front desk I was told to put your suitcases closed when you leave the hotel we will then give you a new room. After the day trip, this was implemented in exactly the same way.
The hotel is typical NY small room small bathroom.
But let's face it. You're going to get a shower, penny.
I don't live here. So it fulfills its purpose more than well.
Staff are mega friendly. The pool was perfect for a trip to NY city.
Excellent hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Clean, comfortable.
Stayed for a quick business trip. The room was pretty small but very clean. The coffee container didn't have any cups so I didn't have my morning coffee in my room. Luckily there is a Starbucks within a few feet on the corner. There is also a great restaurant right next to the hotel. Don't expect a view out the windows though. Many of the rooms face the outer walls of the other rooms. The bed wasn't that comfortable either. Served its purpose but if I went back to New York I'd probably stay elsewhere for the money. The best part about the stay was the smooth service by the hotel staff.
The location is excellent. I am very grateful for everyone's attention, from the boys who received the suitcases, the security, everyone, made us feel very comfortable. There were certain insignificant details to improve, but nothing relevant, is the process of going improving fairly (problems with an elevator right in our stay). A huge greeting.
Close to the best attractions. Lack of bilingual staff. There they stayed at the owes.
I was in November, hotel in great location. 10 min walk to Times Square, efficient and provided gym, spacious and clean room. Possible improvements to the bathroom in the room. A little small. Overall positive experience.
There is no free Wi-Fi in the rooms otherwise very nice hotel with a nice view and very helpful people.
Very nice hotel, the rooms a little small but comfortable. Good heating and the shower is a real treat. The location is excellent.
Very nice hotel. The staff were very pleasant and the room was very clean. Rooms: Cool view (even on the first floor perfect view of the skyscrapers and the New York Life), bathroom although small but newly furnished and modern, living area chic and top designed, small yes but in New York you don't stop in the room anyway. Room service: Well, maid only fills in coffee on request and makes the bare necessities.
Reception/SecuSecurity: Mega Sweet and Nice, always for a little small talk to have and take care of class with questions or recommendations for restaurants/excursions.
Location Top: 3min to Columbus Circle, 15min walk to Times Square, 5 min in Cental Park.
Can only recommend this hotel and will book again on the next visit to NY.
Thanks for everything.
5star +
Excellent value for the size of room and location. I would give this a 5 star rating but the front desk was not answering our call when we requested ice bucket and needed a light bulb replacement. Maybe they were just busy. Other wise a great stay.
Very affordable, great rooftop bar, although pricey drinks and is close walking distance to Broadway shows. It's also pretty easy to hail a cab. And it's right across the street from Lincoln Center and Fordham. The rooms were pretty barbones, however, and they charge for water and coffee in the room, which was new for me. But again, I think I paid around 110 for the room. Not bad at all!
The rooftop terrace is a must for all Gossip Girl;) from 3 pm You can also be a no-guest upstairs and can take the footsteps of Chuck Bass one, two, 30 photos;)
Went to NY to see an ABC show taping and this was just 2 blocks from the studios. Very nice hotel and bar. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Room was good size for 2 and was clean and reasonably priced. Only concern was that there was some noticeable traffic noise at night, but I'm not used to city noises, so I would probably have noticed that no matter where I had stayed in the city.
The location is amazing and the staff is friendly and competent. The room itself was lacking. In the bathroom the shower was missing a door and water sprayed all over the floor. In the hotel room everything had a price on it, even the k-cups for brewing coffee were $3 each. At a certain point you stop feeling like a guest and feel more like a customer when they are charging you for the morning coffee. We ran to Starbucks next store every morning for less expensive and much better coffee. The bed was ok but it wasn't very comfortable. If you are looking for a great location and don't care much about the room itself this is pretty good choice, if the room, especially the bathroom, is important than you might want to look at other options.
Nice and professional staff but the building is aging what brought its lot of annoyances.
Not great but pleasant with some views. Dark hallways. Cute lobby, air conditioning works! excellent location, with little siren traffic noise up high. Staple for the cost of the rooms in New York. Some room service, and a restaurant attached. Gym. Not sure where it is or if there is a pool. Tho it says it has a pool. Nice staff but No one answers the phone most of the time.
The location of the hotel was very good for me because it is in front of the Metropólitan opera. It is also very close to différentes delicious restaurants. It is also very close to a Subway to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Natural History Museum.
Yes. I want to thank you. Hakim.
The room is very small A little dated like furniture. Convenient to Central Park.
The Wi-Fi is in the rooms and poor quality in the living room but free of charge. Room not ready at 3:00. No effort to make themselves understood by their French tourists who speak little English. Room Well.
We loved our stay at The Empire. The location is killer! We loved how close we were to Columbus Circle, the park, and of course a few subway stations. The room was surprisingly spacious, clean, and the bed was comfortable. We'll be back again soon!
I stayed there in January, a couple of years ago. I checked into the room and the heater didn't work. I made a polite request (I used to work in the hospitality industry and know how things can go wrong) to the front desk to have the Engineering Department look at the heater. I left my room and went out for about 5 hours. I came back to the room and it was still ice cold. I made another polite request to the front desk for engineering assistance. They were polite and apologized to me. 10 minutes later, there was a bellman at my door. I was moved to a HUGE suite, no extra charge. For the rest of my stay, I could have entertained half of NYC in that suite.
I had room 206 which was terrible. There was a blind window and therefore almost no daylight which is depressing especially when you are jet-lagged. More over the room was very noisy because of the air conditioning units very loud (not even mine that I stopped). I had to wear ear plugs to be able to sleep, fantastic. The room needs refurbishment and is so dark! The service is just average — they don't even ask if you had a nice stay… The rooftop bar is great in terms of location/view. And the breakfast is just average for 26USD: you'd better choose to go to the Starbucks next door.
Truly Terrible! DO NOT STAY HERE! As a local New Yorker we needed a place to stay as we are moving between upper west side apartments. Should have run the other way when I was waiting in line behind a woman at the front desk complaining that there were toenail clippings all over her hotel room floor. We got to our room (after two attempts because the room keys didn't work the first time) and there was NO AC — it was HOT. They turned it on and said it would cool down in an hour or so and offered us a fan — great, tell that to my over heated and now over tired one year old. The front desk guys were unapologetic and obnoxious — this place gives New Yorkers a bad name. The rooms are really small, dark and cramped. Such a great location but such a horrible experience. So many better places to stay.
A super place located next to the Linconcenter Unaterraza Beautiful von Service Dr Bar very good.
Great service. Perfect location. So many food choices. Needs a new coat of paint here & there; but the rooms were clean & well maintained.
3.5. Not anything special here, but a fabulous location on the West side. This used to be a business hotel & is now more Euro-touristy. It's perfectly adequate, just don't expect too much. The rooftop bar doesn't have that great a view, & drinks are pricey — — there are better bars, rooftop or not. If noise bothers you make sure you're several floors up. A few view rooms but 90% of the reason to stay here is location. You can throw a rock to Lincoln Center & Columbus Circle subway station. Easy to go just abt anywhere from here, & very short walk to Central Park.
Thanks for the heads up Trish, for giving an honest room tour review. I would not recommend this to anyone that just wants to have a good night's rest. ***UPDATED REVIEW*** Excuse me to whoever you are, This is not my story that I was sharing to everyone. This was about 'her' story that I was sharing with the world due to the crappy stay that 'she' had during her visit to NYC on new year's Eve in late 2013, and it wasn't her fault that you were going to jack up the prices during her stay. That's f&&ked up and you know it! That is not okay at all and I hope you guys ARE PROUD of what you have done to this girl by stealing money from her like you do to everyone else. To be clear, I have NEVER visited this horrible establishment and I'm NOT going to. So there.
Rooms are large enough for a hotel in NYC. It is true the rooms could use some renewing. Location wise it is perfect, close to central park where you can have a nice breakfast on a bench. Price/quality there are better options I suppose.
Decent rooms but with many shortcomings or imperfections, Wi-Fi present only in the lobby of the hotel.
Good location close to Columbus Circle and very close to Metro. The interiors are dark and kitsch. The rooms small and with an air conditioning loud even if you turn it off. Many rooms like mine overlook a horrible central view.
I would think twice before booking this hotel for your stay and I would not stay here again. My flight was cancelled from Toronto to NYC — as if that wasn't bad enough, the hotel wouldn't refund the night we missed, even after I showed them the official confirmation from the airline. Poor customer service all around. I wish they were a bit more polite and humane for our stay. On top of that, the shower was broken for our stay and the water splashed everywhere. The AC unit was old and didn't work well.
The staff is dismal, condescending and does not meet any of your requests and concerns. The room booked for five months was not available. In view of our discontent, the manager offered to leave the hotel without charge at midnight with 3 young children! We were told "upgraded" in return, except that the sofa bed is older than my grandmother and I was charged more than $1000 for this upgrade without informing me beforehand. Everything is paid, even Wi-Fi. The pool is closed for work without any prior information. This hotel is lousy. If I could put 0 star, I would have done it. At 360 €/night, we do not even have a room in high floor (2nd floor, no interest), better to throw his money out the window…
Negative experience. Dirty Room, Wi-Fi for a fee and staggering.
Wonderful, a night to never forget.
Hotel with all the amenities of a nice mid range hotel very well located.
I will have put 0 star but we can put only 1… minimum.
At the arrival no smile… no facility to explain to us the it unique of certain things…
No bathrobes, no slippers.
Dust on the cabinet. Very small bathroom in a deluxe room.
The poorly insulated windows let the noise Pass… If you want silence forget! Despite our 10th floor we hear all…
The doors slam in the hallway… you jump.
The heating clim makes a hell of a racket… abused!
Nothing is offered… If! 3 4 capsules of tea or coffee… and still not on. We will see to our departure if C is really free… if you in. Want other… $4 a capsule… plus taxes.
I am not talking about the price of various items such as beverages…
The Computer Center service you need to give $5 just for a connection (s save and print plane tickets)
In short a calamity.
Ps. Room Vetus… it's very nice…
Four stars? … not like in France.
Our stay was ruined in part because of the Empire…
Great Hotel. Very courteous and ideal if you intend to explore Manhattan on foot or with the means available. Clean and cozy.
Spent Christmas here and couldn't have had a better experience. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. Dinner and drinks were great. Staying so close to Lincoln Center was just a walk across the street to see The Nutcracker, simply perfect.
I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Drinks: Excellent. Try the Pear Samba! Food: Good! Try the sliders. Space: Rooftop bar! Really beautiful birds eye views of Lincoln Center. This is one of the few enclosed heated rooftop bars, so it is open all year round. It has a retractable roof, heat lamps, and a fireplace. It also has a really quaint small patio area that has heated lamps. Scene: Very modern and sleek rooftop lounge with a living room feel to it. Open space and conducive to mixing and mingling. Good for get-togethers and date night. It functions as a night club at night. Crowd: 20-50s Afterwork crowd. Pick-up scene. Mostly corporate types and professionals. Service: Really attentive staff. But there is only 1 bar to order drinks from.
Awesome place to meet people from all walks in New York City! I went on a Friday with a couple of friends to just chill and Network. We were pretty successful. I think that if you are open to it you can definitely achieve that since the environment sets the right tone for it. The Bar/Lounge is on the rooftop. When you step off the elevator you will have entered the middle section which is closed by a ceiling. But you could either step to the left or right side, they both provide that chill rooftop feeling. I give it a 4 star because the price on the drinks are too damn high! Expect to pay an average of $14. They also have finger food for that drink munchies we sometimes get.
Comfortable and lively hotel that delivered great service with friendly staff. Nice setting and well located for easy walking or subway access to NYC sights and sounds. Lobby bar atmosphere made for the perfect night cap.
I would recommend not going here because 1. The washroom! one of the rooms had the mirror above the toilet?! like I did not like it one bit. I mean if I wanted to look at myself, brush my teeth even I had to look at the mirror that is ABOVE the toilet. 2. Cords, there are barely any cords and if u take some of the cords out theres gonna be no light so like that wont be fun. 3. There was a "Boiler" in my room and its gonna be super hot and so on. The worst sleep of my life.
