I will never stay in a Best Western again. We booked Surestay by Best Western in Albany New York on July 31. We booked it because it had an indoor pool and a reasonable price. We booked a poolside room, but you could not reenter your room from the poolside because the key cards don't work. You have to walk all the way around to the other door to reenter. There were no towels available at the pool. The shower curtain had mold and brown streaks on it. The toilet seat was worn and would not flush properly. The TV did not work. Once we discovered all these things I decided I could not stay there with young children. I went to the manager to tell her we couldn't stay. She said to call the third party I booked through and they would call her for approval of the refund. She made it sound like there would be no problem. Instead, when Reservation counter. Com called her she refused to approve the refund. When I called the corporate office they said they would look in to it but never called me back. I called a second time and talked to the corporate office which only offered a $40 credit when I never stayed in the room and the room cost $118. I asked for a call back again and did not receive it. Neither Best Western corporate, Surestay Plus in Albany nor reservation counter. Com cares at all about their customers experience. We left Surestay and stayed at Homewood Suites which was excellent and only cost $143. I will NEVER stay in a Best Western again.

Don't EVER go to this place. They're crooks. They stole money off my debit card.

Our Grandson had an amazing time in the heated indoor pool. The room was very comfortable and very clean, although a bit dated. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and from just the short time we visited, I could tell that he was actually proud of his establishment. I can see us returning in the future.

Nothing, the rooms smell like weed, have stained bathtubs and honestly look nothing like the pictures they have online. I will be contacting the health department because there is absolutely NOTHING sanitary about this hotel!

Stared at check in with whole lobby smelling Makeup and dirt stained bathroom linen. Broken in room phone. Room keys kept deprogramming. Sheets had bright blue stains on them like a childs crayon had melted in the wash. Made complaints at front desk. I was promised someone would come down. No one ever did. Called to speak with management. Her voice mail was full. Had to call corporate to open a case. Took her 4 days to get back to me. When she did, the general manager was surly and judgemental. She kept asking me did we actually stay in the room. Clearly we stayed in the room. She finally grumpily offered 50% off the room. If people are going to be managers in customer facing industries such as hospitality, then they should be aware that they could be talking to ANYONE. I could have been a secret shopper or upper management for Best Western. I am none of these. I and my family were simply one of 258, 000 households with no heat, electric, gas and internet due to a severe thunderstorm in the area for two and a half days. One who is immunocompromised and terrified to stay in a hotel due being uncertain as to the level of cleanliness at any given property because of COVID. Having those fears realized to some degree was great fun for my family and I. Do better.

Front desk staff was great made your feel very welcome and very helpful! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

I'm writing this on behalf of my friend Tom who does not have a FB account. He stayed at this hotel and on 8/31/2019 his room was not serviced. The best they could do was hand him a couple of towels. At checkout he told them he shouldn't be charged the full rate since his room was not serviced properly and for being a Best Western member. Laura Rummel, the general manager, said there was nothing that could be done since he had already paid in full. Tom did write to Laura Rummel and she failed to respond. Tom is highly disappointed, and will not be returning to Best Western.

We were double charged back in June, have called multiple times now and have been told the lady in accounting needed to “deal” with our double charge. She has NOT called us back and I am wondering WHO is swiping the double charge since clearly they aren’t calling us back for a reason! What kind of business do you people run?

This by far is the worse hotel I've stayed at. At 130am I found a dead bug (the lady said it was an ant smh) in my sheets with dry old blood on them. They never changed my sheets from the previous people. I call front desk at almost 2am and the guy said he couldn't do anything and would give me another room. So at 2am he expected me to move 3 children 2 5 and 7 with 4 bags of luggage. I stayed. The next morning there was a weird spider crawling on iut bathroom floor it was probably about 3 inches all around. I showed the housekeeping manager she took pictures we then went to the nasty pool. We came back to the room and they had removed the bug in the bed and the dead spider from the bathroom. I called and the manager was rude and hung up on me after she tried to say I stayed there last year and they refunded me money bc there were bugs in the room then. This is my first and last time there.

The shuttle service is awful. They say last Shuttle at midnight, yet they would not pick us up. They said midnight thier shuttle employee goes home. The last plane in Albany lands near midnight. We were stuck at the airport trying to find an Uber. By the time Uber came, we we're the last ones at the airport. Even the manager Laura? Lauren? agreed with this policy of leaving people stranded. Sad but we won't be staying here anymore, and this was always our choice hotel when coming to see family here. Other hotel shuttles we're up and running at midnight. We will look into those hotels.

Stayed here 3/20 they didnt clear the parking lot and my truck got stuck in a snow bank. Owner says hey not my problem! what a piece of crap this ownership is! if you are in Albany their are much better places to stay if you want to be treated properly! Front desk people dont have any information refuse to give the corporate number. One night stay cost me around $1000 with the cost of the wrecker coming to pull me out! Never again will I stay here or will the 250 people that work at my company your loss!

Every staff member I encountered, either by phone or in person, was pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable, and the bed was heavenly. The lobby has the most interesting and beautiful chairs! Breakfast items were varied, plentiful and delicious. Hotel was easy to get to and the hotel has a very large parking area — perfect for people hauling trailers.

Husband and I stayed there 8/28/18 booked over the home gave our reward number. We have stayed at other Best westerns through the years. Checked in were given a room on the second floor walked away looked for an elevator there wasn’t one went back to the desk and asked where it was and was told they have none now we were to catch flight early next morning for extended vacation, two large suitcases, and carry on bags. Two men standing by carried our bags up for us, thankfully as we are senior citizens. I with oxygen, we finally get to our room and low and behold no air conditioning or should I say barely any could not adjust to any other than med fan. To exhausted we sweated it out and Best Western you lost two customers.

Good for travelers. Pleasant front desk. Breakfast included, free Wi-Fi. Bar on the premises and you can have a bite too. The hotel has a nice pool, but the pool area is not always heated. The fitness room requires attention… The last room that I had, had bed bugs. Spoke with the front desk in the morning. They will present the situation to the owner. The captured specimen was given to them.

We were in the area on business. The room and bathroom were clean and well stocked with towels and soaps. The breakfast was good. Enjoyed a waffle and eggs for breakfast with coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful. I typically stay at Best Western when I travel and have never been disappointed with the amenities or service.

This hotel is clean and comfortable. The rooms are dated, but nice. The pool area has a retractable roof, which didn't appear to be operating on our visit, so that area was very warm. The pool was nice though. Breakfast in the morning had many options — eggs, sausage, home fries, and both a pancake and waffle maker. I would recommend this hotel if you're in the area.

Very friendly Hotel staff! Entire place felt a bit dated, and the room had a kind of musty smell to it. Couple electrical outlets on the wall didn't work, and the TV was really small and poor quality. Bathroom was barely bigger than a closet. Overall the bed was comfortable and was a quiet couple of nights. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance or a short drive.

Basic. Not the cleanest but pleasant staff and a decent breakfast. The pool is too small to do lengths and the gym is pretty limited. A major bad point is there is no elevator in the building. People with mobility issues have to get a room on the ground floor. We weren't told this at the time of booking it caused us a lot of hassle. Other than that it's fine. Don't expect any bells and whistles.

We chose this hotel as it was near the airport. We had mice in our room which was terrible as we couldn't sleep thinking about it. We heard them munching and couldn't figure out where they were. We saw in the morning they were eating the sugar packets for the coffee machine. We informed the management in the morning and were told that they would adjust the billing and contact us. No one did. We emailed them and then phoned to the general manager and still have not received a reply after leaving a detailed message and phone number…

So disappointed. The staff was supportive, helpful, and friendly. But the facility was worn down and in ill repair. I heard critters running around in the ceiling. (Yes, they gave me a different room. ) The carpeting is worn. My refrigerator didn't work. The plug in the tub was broken. And the electrical outlets were so loose that my chargers wouldn't stay plugged in; they kept falling out. Three place was clean but when my flight was cancelled and I realized I had to stay another night I changed hotels. So glad I did.

Friendly service. This hotel was clean, I loved the chair/ottoman with the king sized bed. The heat was easily adjusted. The bed was comfortable. The only "disappointing" feature was the water stains and the hole gap by the sprinkler in the bathroom ceiling. It was nice to have almond milk at the roomy breakfast area.

This hotel is not very tidy. The vehicle noise under the doors. Floors communicates the sounds.

Great location. Whole Foods, PF Chang's, Starbucks and other nice eating spots. Lots of shopping nearby and easy on/off of I-87.

This hotel is dirty and dingy. Would not recommend staying here. Our bathroom had not been cleaned properly after previous guests. When we arrived there was hair all over the tub and walls of the tub. Mildew on tub tiles. Wall tiles missing behind toilet. Called front desk to have them come clean the bathtub and they never did. Hallways were freezing and dirty. Will never stay here again.

Stay here many times over past 2 years and each time it get worst. Heater smells like gas fumes. Turned it off and 3 nice ran out. Switched to other end of hotel and again heater smells like fumes. Surprised they are not getting shut down with sickness. Last week had to leave a day early due to storm. They wouldn't transfer my room for the next week. You lose. I'm done. Going to hampton.

Great value! Room was very affordable, comfortable and clean. Breakfast included and an indoor pool were a nice bonus.

We hated this hotel… Several people had good feedback. But I do not understand why the pool is so cold and the room where the pool is located is unpleasant not heated or lit… The rooms are half clean.

There was little water pressure, the beds were worn out and we could feel every spring, a breaker blew when I used the hair dryer, and the toilet clogged. The pool also had no towels for us to use. When they finally brought towels, there weren’t enough for everyone. Otherwise, the staff were friendly, helpful, and the breakfast provided was pretty good. The security in the building could be improved. Our wing required no key card access, so anyone could just walk into the building. The hotel is in a great spot, with restaurants and shopping very close by.

I honestly don't know why all these people have left such bad reviews. If you have kids and they want to swim, get a pool side room. The rooms open from the hallway and also the pool area. Beware, it does get a little loud in there with kids playing when the pool opens at 9 a. M. Yes the pool area is cold but it is a huge room with 1 glass wall and a glass roof. Its gonna be a little chilly in cold weather but the pool is heated. It also features a lift so the pool is handicapped accessible. The lobby is great with plenty of comfy sitting areas and 3 free computers for business or letting the kids play. The front desk staff is very, very kind and accommodating. The cookies are killer and a great coffee/cocoa area is also up front. The room is great, beds were very comfortable, 4 pillows on each bed with down comforters. A desk, microwave, fridge and a good sized tv. Plus a table and 2 chairs. The bathrooms are small, but clean. Our heater was nice and quiet and did it's job well. The walls are fantastic with a cool 3d design. My husband called it a rock wall. There are multiple entrances on the sides of the building so you don't have to walk the whole length of the hall with your stuff. The free breakfast was great, cereals, bagels, bread, pastries, cheese omelets, potatoes, sausages, a pancake machine (super fun for kids) a waffle iron, yogurt, almond milk, fresh fruits 4 different juices. Probably more. I don't remember. They have an on site bar with dinner served too.

Conveniently located near International airport. Can keep car there for $20.00 extra. Shuttle to and from airport between 4:15 and 12 midnight. Shuttle was prompt. Costs about $10.00 for a taxi at airport to travel back to hotel after midnight. Cleanliness of room left much to be desired.

Not a very new hotel, but the employees here are very polite and friendly, they make us feel welcome and warm. I especially want to say great attitude of the breakfast room lady, Judy, she has great big smily face all the time to me and my family, warm and professional tone. What a great experience. High recommended.

We stayed on 11/21 over night left our car while we flew to Texas returning on 11/27/17 around 6:30 pm. We called to be picked up by the hotel shuttle. The very nice young lady that picked us was very friendly. Upon arriving at the hotel to pick up our car we found that our car would not start. We went into the hotel to ask about having our car jumped. The same young lady assisted us in attempting to get our car started. Her husband had just arrived to bring her dinner to her as well. They both assisted us in trying to get it started with no luck. Her husband then offered to drive us to an auto parts store to get a new battery. Which he did. We offered to pay them for helping and gas for taking us to the store when our car was finally running. They would not accept anything. I can't say enough about this young women working at your hotel as well as her husband for helping to people they did not know. I wish I had gotten their names but did not in the heat of the moment of getting the car started. Excellent service!

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past several years and have been getting increasingly dissatisfied each time. I was very disappointed with my stay this time. It was my last stay at this property. The room literally stank even before turning on the noisy air conditioner which also emitted a foul odor. I kept spraying my travel size Lysol in hopes that I would not have an asthma attack. The saving grace was being able to park our car there and the free shuttle to and from the airport. Luckily, there are other park and fly hotels nearby. In this case I definitely recommend paying a little more for a fresher and quieter room. Once they remodeled their lobby and breakfast area I thought maybe the rooms would soon follow, but unfortunately, not soon enough for me. The cookies at check-in are great, but not worth the price of a good night’s sleep.

It was a good hotel. Clean. Breakfast was good for the price. It was quite. Lots of parking spots. I give 4 stars for 1) the first person in front desk wasn't nice at all! 2) No elevator so we had to carry our suitcase for one floor.

My girlfriend and I brought our 3 month old daughter for a stay overnight on 10/7 as we had a final destination in a town not too far away. In that town we normally stay at Best Western and that one has always been clean and great. So we figured we'd stay with Best Western since the other one was booked up when we made our reservation. What a mistake that was. After we checked in we went to our room. As soon as we opened the door and stepped inside, my girlfriend and I noticed a very strong and funky odor. We both looked at each other and agreed immediately it was not pleasant and we couldn't stay in there. I went down to the front desk and told them about it and they gave us another room. Upon entry of that room, we still smelled a funk but it wasn't as bad and frankly after driving for several hours with an infant, we were going to just settle. I went to the car to get the luggage and as I'm unloading I get a phone call from my girlfriend. She's telling me we're going to a 3rd room. The toilet wouldn't flush and there was a nasty film of dirt at the water line in the toilet. The tub was stained bad and dirty as well. The gentleman at the front desk felt terrible, and gave us another room which he checked himself. That room looked "better", but once we pulled the blanket forward we noticed the sheets had pink stains on them. VERY large and noticeable, looked like lipstick stains. The pillows were yellow stained and dirty looking and we didn't even bother with the bathroom.

When we arrived, our room had not been cleaned. We were allocated another one. The next smells bad, the bath was dirty.
For the rest, the Deco is exceeded (years 80) The air-conditioning is very efficient, the pool is extra. Lunch is really a strong point. Very complete and varied. The receptionist is very courteous and knows are deal.

We stayed prior to our flight from Albany airport. This allowed us to leave out car somewhere safe for a reasonable fee, and sleep a little longer before our flight. The shuttle service runs from 4:15 am until midnight. We had expected to return before 11:00pm and of course, that did not work out. We called at midnight and explained we were just waiting on our bags and they agreed to come get us. They could have easily said go take a taxi and we greatly appreciate this kind of customer service.

I travel for work and am in hotels 4 days a week… If you are looking for some ultra modern and new looking hotel, This is not for you. BUT if you want a great bed, a beautiful pool, amazing breakfast and staff not to mention THE BEST price. Stay here. Its a hotel. You're not in it for the color schemes. The rooms were clean and the beds were so comfortable (King suite)

Very Nice Hotel for the money. Older so is not equipped with elevator, but stairs easy to climb. Has been updated on inside and outside being worked on. Great little Bar that serves food in building but all kinds of places to eat right outside the door. Have a great staff and offer shuttle to airport and dining. Very quiet!

Very impressive. We had to spend several days there and it felt like home. Very accommodating and comfortable. We noticed the updates and remodeling going on. Good to see that happening!

I got there a little before check-in and apparently Maintenance wasn't ready for me to have the room. They had to come in and install a decorative board at the top of the window, which couldn't wait until the next day. Granted, it only took two minutes, but it was a bit of an inconvenience as I was ready to take a shower. Also, there was a marble threshold in the bathroom doorway which stuck up almost an inch. Very easy to stub a toe and very uncomfortable to step on. A lamp didn't work, and there were leftover coffee grounds in the coffee maker. The room and the bathroom were small and the shower didn't have much pressure. Luckily, I was only there for one night. I don't think I'll book at a BW again.

We checked in on 7/20/17, no elevator and we were given a room on the second floor on the other side of building, went to the room and the door was open, water running in sink, bed messed up and trash. Called front desk and they said we can give you another room but you have to come back and get a key, we won't bring to you. Did that. Got another room, late at night, got ready for bed then realized the toilet did not work. By this time it is 5:00 am and they don't know when they can get someone to help us, so we use the lobby public toilet. The next morning, same story, so my husband locates a plunger, but the toilet is broken not clogged. We continue to use lobby toilet as no one ever was able to assist. Lobby and public restroom was filthy, smell in lobby horrible, terrible customer service. When we complained, we got the canned "sorry". Will never stay there again.

The hotel and rooms are little dated, but the pool and the indoor courtyard are really great. Also, lunch and service are excellent.

My granddaughter and I dropped off my car on Sunday and were immediately shuttled over to the airport by John (he is amazing). Upon our very late return this morning, we were greeted pleasantly and immediately fell asleep in the very comfy beds! This morning everyone was friendly and pleasant and asked about our stay. We really enjoyed the icy water at the front desk… it really hit the spot at 2 am! Thanks for making us feel so welcome! We will be back… Karen and Haliey.

We stay at the Best Western, at 200 Wolfe Street. Albany, NY every year and it's getting better, they've done a lot of renovations, (the lobby and front desk ' are very inviting, they are renovating the rooms, the staff is very rider,, easy to access, one minute from the I 87, the Wifi is excellent, comfortable bed, I recommend without hesitation
PS They accept cats and dogs ($20),

I reserved this room online on my way to Albany. We were driving through and staying one night. Online reservation was easy. Upon check in I was attended to by the front desk clerk who was not conversational but checked me in with no problems. The room was way around the back and parking was tight. The parking lot had a large hole in the travel way, but easily could have been under construction. The corridor access doors were not locked but had card slides where they could have been. In the stairwell of the corridor there was a large stockpile of what appeared to be remodeling materials. The room was a basic hotel room, but after a day of travelling I rested easily. Checkout was easy, although I did not see a breakfast area they appeared to have a juice/coffee bar.

I just had my wedding here on June 18, 2016. Charlotte was just amazing. She did everything just the way I wanted, from decorations, to favors and centerpieces everything was perfect. We had a last minute change from being outside to having the ceremony inside. This was no problem for theme. The staff made everything look so beautiful. Everyone was very nice and helpful. We had a complimentary room for our wedding night. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very clean. The dance floor in the reception could have been a little bigger but it was still perfect for everyone. The lighting was perfect. I can't say enough good things about this place. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the breakfast. The fruit looked really good but when I cut open the apple ito was a little brown and so were the bananas. Other than that my wedding day went perfect and they were very accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you Charlotte and staff for making our day special.

The room was conviently located in respect but the chamber maid asked if we needed servive for the room so we said no but in retrospect she shouldve at least emptied the trash changed the towels… for a 5 star I was a little diapointed.

Very nice hotel, stays for a few days while I was in town. Love how there's free breakfast. They still give a lot with their rooms. Reason for 4 stars, I wish the room's AC would work better. I like it COLDDD.

Stay anywhere else. My company booked me here. I'm not sure what I did to deserve this. Very old rooms. Carpet is visibly dirty. Furniture is mid 80s at best. Only nice things were good Wi-Fi and good treadmills. No elevator, noisy air conditioning. Stay elsewhere. You've been warned.

This place is horrible. Walls look like someone cut off elephant ears and stapled them to the wall. Pipes run through out the hallways exposed. Gym stinks, no wipes to clean equipment, and very obvious cleaning hasn't touched the gym either. Looks like lobby was remolded but the rest of the hotel hasn't been touched in 20 years.

My room has two doors. The second opens onto the indoor pool deck. The pool looks nice. No hot tub the room is clean and well kept. Breakfast was good. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, and other standard hotel breakfast food. Overall, a good experience with rates that won't break the bank.

Didn't stay there for the night or anything, just went for a work-related class. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming! The room we had the lecture in was great — everything was set up by the staff there and they were thoughtful — from ice water to candy and coffee.

Staff at the Best Western is very pleasant, polite, and accommodating. Rooms are clean. Always available hot tea and coffee in the lobby is much appreciated.

It's the second time we stayed in this hotel. They have free breakfast and close to almost everything we need. Dogs are allowed for an extra 20$ and they have a park across the street at the back of the hotel. So we are very pleased and happy as our dog loves going for a trip with us every single time.

Great location, close to everything & they provide a free shuttle not only to/from the airport but also up & down Wolf Rd which has a mall, movie theater, and a bunch of restaurants. Free hot breakfast served daily from 5-10am and the rooms are clean & newly renovated. Great value, I highly recommend it.

My stay at this hotel was average. The room was clean, the internet was fast enough to Netflix, the free breakfast was free breakfast. Nothing stood out as bad or exceptional. I'd stay there again without a second thought.

The hotel feels older but the room was modern and very comfortable.

I read the past reviews and was worried BUT the only thing I hated about this hotel was I had to get out of one of the nost comfortable bed set ups I've ever slept in! FIVE STARS WILL RETURN.

My company booked this hotel for work event next day at Albany Airport. It was an awesome overnight stay, just wish I had brought my swimsuit. The 5:00 am breakfast (even though it was continental, tasty spread) was an added treat for me. Would book a short staycation, with family.

Room smelled perfumed, furniture is old, windows don't open, pool is a sauna, bed is too soft. At least it was cheap.

Everything with the hotel is fine good location nice rooms bar cable comfortable beds BUT unfortunately they do have bed bugs I stayed 2 nights 11/6-8 after the first night I awoke to a few red sores on my back I figured maybe I just broke out but the second night revealed the ugly truth when I woke up I had more of them on my stomach face arms and leg! Disgusting they are itchy and gross point blank they need to wah the sheets with clorox and change those mattress I usually love best western but this was a serious let down.

I was stuck for the weekend waiting on a part after my truck broke down. I have a large dog and, after calling ten different hotels, this was the first one that would allow him. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, even offering to "babysit" him at the front desk if I needed to go anywhere. The hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants and offers a free shuttle service, as well. They aren't the most updated hotel, but it is clean and their great staff and service make up for any lack of modernization. I would definitely stay again in the event of another breakdown in this area.

Not bad for a Best Western, but not great either. A little on the old side and a little on the crummy side, but good friendly service. Location wasnt too hot, being in Albany there was stuff around but you had to drive to get anywhere good.

Stayed several nights for business and would absolutely stay here again. Reasonable pricing compared to other area hotels. Great proximity to airport, major highways, and local stores and restaurants. All staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Kate at the front desk and John the shuttle driver were extremely courteous, helpful, and made my stay a pleasure. Actually decided to stay an extra night. Facilities were very clean and well kept, and the area seemed very safe as well. Other guests included lots of families and people on business. Great breakfast, especially compared to other hotels I have stayed at. Would recommend this hotel.
