Winter Clove is a hidden jewel in the catskills. It is a great place to relax and to reflect on family and friends.

Everything was great. The food is good, the staff is nice and it's all so peaceful.

Warm, comfortable family atmosphere. We have loved coming here for more than 20 years and look forward to many more.

Beautiful location and nice rooms. It's cool that they have a bowling alley and a pool. And the food was good.

We have been going to Winter Clove for 20 years so really we are newcomers. Many we meet have been going to Winter Clove as far back as humanly possible, like 45 or 50 years! It is quiet, clean and cozy with breathtaking trails, majestic trees, just people taking it EASY! The food is stick to your ribs good and the service warm and competent. Once you go, you become part of the Winter Clove family.

We've been guests at the Winterclove Inn for 40 years. We love the warm hospitality, the Whitcomb family, great food & the spectacular scenery.

Very relaxing. Everything you could want in one place. Food, hiking trails, bowling, tennis courts. 3 squares a day and your in the wild.

One reviewer was unhappy that they didn't have TVs in the rooms. One of the reasons I'm giving it 5 stars is that it DOESN'T have TVs in the rooms. It's not that sort of place. If you want that sort of place, go to a Super 8 motel. Though no TV in our room, the dresser did have little shelves where you could put down your candlesticks. This is a 19th-century mountain inn, not a motel or a hotel. And it has been an inn since the 1830s, and run by the same family ever since then. It's at the end of a road up into the foothills of the Catskills. It's a beautiful example of such an old inn – almost all of the 19th-century great Catskill inns failed and now only the foundations remain – this is one of the last. The inn is slightly dilapidated – doors squeak and stick, floorboards squeak, your sink might have some chips in it, and the floor in your bathroom might be slightly stained (though spotlessly clean) but that adds to the charm. There is a bowling alley and indoor and outdoor pools and tennis courts. There are trails on their land, ones not found on any Catskill hiking map (but some are marked on the Round Top Mountain Bike Association RTMBA Trail Map you can find online). On one trail, only a hundred meters or so from the inn, they have their own waterfall with a covered bridge over it and a swimming hole at the bottom of the waterfall.

Nice people the place is a little rustic. Rooms were clean. Very quiet.

A beautiful main house with a newly refinished bar and dining room, this inn has tons of old world charm, three floors of guest rooms, an indoor and outdoor pool, sprawling grounds, a tourist trap kind of gift shop, a retro bowling alley, and a basement with shuffleboard, air hockey, and large piece chess. We only stopped to visit but met the owner who was friendly and informative. The basement game room was a bit musty, and I wouldn't want to spend much time there, but the retro bowling alley was cool. It looks like a good place for adults. Kids? Not so much as there are no child friendly activities there.
