This place was great in every way. I travel quite a bit and I am a light sleeper which makes hotels difficult. I came to the Homewood Suites almost delirious for lack of sleep. The location was very convenient, right off 90. There are restaurants and all the conveniences about a 2 minute drive away from the hotel and yet you don't get the feeling of congestion and traffic and noise that I had the night before in Henrietta. At the same time, I was 17 minutes from my event in Rochester. So you're close enough to Rochester but far enough at the same time. I had the best sleep I've had, not just in a hotel, but just in general for months. First of all, it's kind of, I don't want to say in the country, but I looked out my window and saw green. I didn't see or hear cars or lights. I just saw quiet green fields and trees and a pretty sky. (Granted you have to get a room on the right side because 90 is on the other side! ) Brad in reception was so kind. He seemed to understand instinctively what I needed in terms of a room and he put me way up in a corner by myself. Usually when they do that they put a group of partiers right next door but not this time. I got a 1BR which reception people always regard with suspicion. Like why do you want a 1 BR if you're by yourself? And in fact Brad tried to have me authorize 20 dollars more on the credit card swipe, apparently thinking I was going to steal the towels or something. I didn't quite get that and I've never had that happen but I refused and that was that. He was nice about it. It made me wonder what really happens in these hotels. I can't imagine anything more depressing than organizing a party at a Homewood Suites. Have a party at home and save the money for a down payment on a house. And teach your children not to scream in hotels. But, as hotels go, this one was perfectly nice and clean. The bed was super comfy with lots of feather pillows. Bathroom was huge and the kitchen was also a nice size with two burners and a nice sized fridge. The only thing, which wasn't an issue this time, but the rooms seem to be very poorly insulated for sound. I could clearly hear doors slamming shut in the hall from my bedroom with all the doors closed (door to the bathroom, door to the living room, door to the hall). Since occupancy was quite low it did not end up being an issue but I think it would have been an issue with high occupancy. Also the thermostat clicks every time the room reaches the set temp which is extremely annoying. That's the fault of the people who make thermostats. But, the room had a ceiling fan so I was able to just turn off the thermostat but keep the air moving. So yes I'm picky but mostly I just have a high sensitivity to sound. Breakfast was fine, the usual feggs (fake eggs) and very decent bacon. I don't really care about breakfast. Coffee was ready by about six which I thought was on the late side. I can't really fault the breakfast lady because she seemed to be doing double duty in reception and in the kitchen. I used the whirlpool early Sunday morning. There was a little scum on the foam which was unappetizing. There were already screaming kids in there at that time. It would be nice if hotels in general had adult time in pools, even if it were something like 7-8 a. M. The screaming just bounces off the pool walls and it's not pleasant. I did not use the gym but it was very nice and quite large with weights and machines and everything you could want. All in all it was a very pleasant stay and I give credit to Brad for being so kind and assigning me the perfect room. I would definitely at least consider staying at the Homewood brand in future.
