Review of Hampton Inn Owego 2*

The room was nice and modern, and the beds seemed clean and were comfortable. We had a microwave and a fridge in our room, which was not listed in the description and was a pleasant the surprise. We did not use the pool, but the complementary breakfast was nice, if not a little lacking. However, this is where my two star deduction comes in: the staff. During breakfast, at one point the whipped cream ran out, not a big deal. But when I asked about getting more, she stated at me and told me that I had already asked in a dismissive tone. I had not asked anyone at this point, and it felt like a little slap in the face. However this was on top of a few previous encounters we had. The first night we arrived, we realized we forgot our toothpaste. We didn't think this was a big deal as Hampton Inn has a sign encouraging its customers to ask for amenities. We went down for toothpaste, and they bregudgingly gave us a small tube for our family of 4. This was enough for us the night and morning after, and when we went to ask the next night for more, they looked at us and asked us in an unpleasant tone, "Again? " Then they proceeded to ask us for our room number, and even more bregudgingly gave us another tube. We heard them whispering to each other as we left. These were two of a few similar interactions we had at our stay. While the hotel itself was inviting, the staff was not. I am adding one star back, because we contacted them about a mattress we slept on that we were considering purchasing, and they were very helpful, kind, and forthcoming with this information. I guess the few people we interacted were not representative of the staff.
