Wonderful place with a great indoor swimming pool, gym and spa. Ask for their massage therapist — she is amazing.

The lap pool is great, the help are incredibly nice, and the clientele are friendly and respectful.

Total dump! Just left and my friend found a crack pipe in his tissue box, yes you read that right, a god dam crack pipe! My room smelled like mold and had to have the repair man come fix my broken heat. Won’t stay in the dump EVER AGAIN!

Very nice place. We were concerned about staying at an independent non-corporate owned ace but we're very pleasantly surprised. Rooms are updated and quite nice, very clean, great amenities and staff is friendly. We will definetly return for another weekend getaway.

Really nice hotel. Staff was very friendly. Room and bathroom was very clean. The room we stayed in was also pretty big which was nice! Where we parked was close to our room. They have 2 pools and a gym. I know one of them is a salt water pool which was cool. They have a steam room, showers, changing room and gym to use as well. Recommend this place!

Room is nice. Front desk guy was nice. Loved the waitress. Pool guy was nice. I hated the locker room. The pool area had no place for me to sit and watch my grandson and I had to be there with him so why wouldn't they have chairs for the adults to sit and watch their kids?

This place is pretty nice the people are fabulous and even breakfast was good. I love the two separate rooms one bedroom and living area in another. Our only downfall is he bed was super firm and we couldn't sleep. Next time I will ask, as I have read other reviews, for a softer bed.

King size bed. Quiet. Great TV for watching NBA playoffs. Near freeway. Nearer to the big grocery store. Hot breakfast provided.

Was definitely not what we expected! Booked a smoking room only to find out they don't have any. Not allowed in that state! Everything was generic but comfortable. No little soaps. Just wall dispensers even in shower for shampoo and body wash. Nice pool/hot tub/gym. Very busy though as they have public classes in pools. 5 person hot tub. Again, hard to get a chance to get in if more than 1 in your party.

Clean, quiet and spacious rooms, great water pressure and hot water in shower. I stay here often when traveling for work but would also consider staying here for pleasure too.

The rooms were actually bigger and nicer than expected. Ours had 2 queen beds and a pull out couch with ample space. For the price, it was very very good.

It's a bit compact (meaning everything, the fridge, microwave, sofa, and beds, are all in the same room), however it has nice facilities and suites. The beds are comfortable and clean and the bathrooms are nice. It exceeded my expectations.

I enjoy staying at The Colonial Motel and spa. The staff is always gracious and accomodating. The feel is more like staying in a guest bedroom than at a swanky hotel but that is something I like about it. I also loooooe the swimming pools and hot tub. Also being able to walk to my room from the Tavern restaurant is a nice perk too.

My wife and I had a wonderful time observing our 30th anniversary. The two pools & the jacuzzi were awesomely warm. Our room was newly renovated. Staff was friendly, breakfast included eggs & pancakes. Highly recommended. L.

Not very comfortable at all. I was treated very rudely and the carpets were very dirty. I wasn't impressed with with the swimming pool because you could only use it for a brief time because it always was doing outside lessons. Again treated like a employee. Very strange atmosphere all throughout my stay. When we made a complaint and treated rudely on several occasions we wanted to go elsewhere for our remaining vacation and we asked for a refund and of course we're denied. So we left and stayed at Holiday inn Express and we very comfortable. Never would I suggest to anyone to stay there.

We had a great time here. The room was large, clean, comfortable and convenient with two queen beds, a pull out sofa, microwave, small refrigerator and a nice solid table and chairs. Breakfast was included. It was good, not gourmet, but definitely allowed you to fill up for a day of skiing with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, French toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and juice. The best part was the 75 foot indoor salt water pool. Heated to 86F, our kids loved it! Plus a separate lap pool, hot tub, steam rooms and saunas for the adults. Very relaxing after a day of skiing or hiking. Great location close to downtown Brattleboro with many good restaurant choices and excellent hiking nearby. To top it off, the staff were all super friendly and helpful! We will be back. :-)

Have stayed here several times and was generally pleased with the quality and service, however after the incident with my last visit you can be sure I won't be going back. We realized the day we left that we had accidentally left a few of our shopping bags in the room so we called the motel to see if anyone had found them. Nothing in the lost and found however they asked the maid who cleaned it and she said she remembers seeing the bags but they were empty. Seriously? She would have been better off lying and saying she hadn't seen anything, not admitting that she had seen our stuff but the merchandise was miraculously gone.

Very nice hotel. Room was mostly clean (minus some dust hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom). The restaurant in the hotel was also good, great food and service. The spa was also pretty nice.

I have a membership to the gym and spa at the Motel: it's really a well maintained space, with an excellent Jacuzzi, salt water pools, weights and other machines, and wet and dry sauanas. Good way to work out and warm up in the winters. Also the costs of memberships to the spa are fairly low, for what you get.

This was a great little motel! Some may say it's old (it uses a regular key, not a key card), but I think it adds to the character of the place. The room was nice. The bathroom had dispensers for hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The body wash didn't lather very well, but was pleasant smelling. The breakfast was simple but good. The room was plenty large and the AC worked great. If we were ever in the area again, we'd definitely stay again.

The room is huge. The bed was comfortable, but not cozy. Breakfast was standard hotel fare. Enjoyed having extra seating other than the bed in the room. Shower was warm and had good pressure. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable of the town. Would stay here again if in the area.

Stayed on one of the coldest nights in a decade. Room was gigantic, but very cold. Good hot shower, comfortable bed. Good price. Pools, and fitness area were fantastic.

Great size rooms, friendly staff and very affordable rates. The only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating was the hallways being dirty and covered in bugs and spiders. A bit cleaner and we'd be very happy. Will still definitely stay again.

We stopped in on our way home from camping in Maine. The room was clean and spacious. The shower was hot and the water pressure was fantastic! We also had dinner at the pub associated with the motel. The food was delicious and they worked with us as one of our party has food allergies. Our children loved the food pn their kids menu (our 4 year old finished his then his two year old brother's food too)! The continental breakfast the following morning was standard but quality food as well. Try the peach juice!

I love this place for a quick weekend get away. The pools are great! The Jacuzzi is great as well. For the price, I think is a great option if you are looking for a relaxed weekend away from stress. My wife and I have been there twice already. The only thing is that if you like to go out at night there aren't many things to do around, but we usually just want to relax when we head over to VT. They also have a restaurant and the food is pretty good.

My room was large, clean, and comfortable. I stayed 4 nights, down near the pool/spa building, and it was very quiet. When I used the spa it was clean and nicely set up. I ate one meal at the Tavern and was pleased with the food and friendly service. I wish I'd gotten up early enough to eat the free breakfast every single morning. Bacon, eggs, etc were surprisingly fresh and tasty. As usual for a motel, the bed was firmer than I prefer. Overall, I'd recommend the Colonial to anyone.

Nice for a motel, not a fancy spa. So, if you are looking for a decent motel, this is pretty good. If you are looking for a hotel spa, maybe not the place for you. The Tavern is fairly small, but liked it.

Horrible place even for cheap. I'd never recommend anyone go there! Place had mold painted over to hide it. Looks like a Crack shack when you get to your room, not to mention they have thugs and prostitutes hanging out in the after hours… NOT RECOMMENDED.

AWFUL! RUDE RUDE people! This hotel is not one I would recommend to anyone unless you don't mind rude people. I have a baby and they told me they wanted to charge me $10.00 because he got some of his drink on the sheet when people's linen comes and picks them up. I worked at peoples linen and they do not charge. They lied. Also there is a gay guy at the desk who is very rude who thinks he is better than everyone. They also gave me a really hard time because I had bought my son the bathtub crayons and they told me not to use them. Also, the manager told me to buy cleaner and clean the tub and because of that they weren't going to renew my atay. When I had her show me what she was talking about it was gone. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The room was clean, spacious and relatively modern. For the price, we expected a seedy dive hotel, but we just needed somewhere for the night. We were really pleasantly surprised at the hotel's quality.

Extremely pleased with this hotel. We got a great rate for a night in early spring. The room was clean and modern, nothing tacky or dated in the decor. What a pleasant find!

Room was clean and very spacious. Pools are nice. One is much cleaner than the other. Gym area is ok, hot tub is small for a hotel this size. Locker room is dirty! Floor is gross. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. All in all it was an ok experience. I would come back. Clean room and good service gets my business!

The Colonial Motel is awesome! This was my second time staying there and the rooms are amazing! They have a sauna, a hot tub, and 2 pools! It was a lot of fun for me and my family. They also had a great breakfast and a nice dinner place. I definitely would recommend this to friends and family.

Stinking nasty smelly dump. Horrible. Front desk was very pleasant and gave us a room. He saw our bags and hustled to get a cart, which was nice but very odd since the 5 steps that we needed to get up was only just around the corner from the front desk. Yep, a cart for all of 15 feet. The room we were in has disgusting. The whole wing smelled of grease used to cook eggrolls. Cables running down the hallway, chunks of paint pealing from the ceiling. After we complained, they moved us to another wing, this one had been remodeled, though badly. It was *much* better than the first room, and the smell was gone, but they should fire the remodeler. I'd never stay there again.

Horrible! Don't waste your money on these stupid people. We were assigned a room that had shared door with another room occupied by an unknown person and the hotel manager insisted that there was no problem having a shared door. What about our safety? Insensitive and uncivilized people! Close this place and find something else to do.

Avoid this place — sleeping in your car is a better idea. This place a dump. 100%. Booked two nights, stayed one, was charged for two. Working with my credit card company to fix it. The photos on the website must have been taken years ago, and then photoshopped. When I told someone who travels through Brattleboro often I stayed there, she thought I was joking. She said her co-workers call it the "ax-murder" motel. Charming. Below is the letter I wrote to the manager. **************** In all respects, this is the worst hotel I have stayed in over the past few years. As a former military member, I have travel extensively over the US with all price points of accommodations. The Colonial is easily the worst. I'm certain I have paid less than $50/night and gotten ten times the amenities, service, and cleanliness that I experienced on my trip to Brattleboro. The primary reason my wife and I picked your motel was to stay before interviewing for a job with your local EMS/Paramedic service. In part due to your business's condition, I opted to head out of town a day early — skipping my interview. The room was not clean. The carpet was old, filthy, and the bathroom had insects walking around in it. The sheets MIGHT have been cleaned, but looked like a teenager late for class had made the bed. Two people can make an inspection ready, "hospital corners" bed in 120 seconds with any concern or training. This bed was woefully sub-par.

The receptionist was very nice, however the hotel was far from the pictures. Very outdated, worn out, and dirty. I found dog prints on the carpet, cobwebs the size of my head, and the bed was messy as if it had been laid in. Never mind the fact it had not been dusted. The pictures are very diseiving! We left right after checking in and got our money back. Stayed at a hotel downtown that was much better.

Everything with my stay was fine, right up until I checked out. I get an unauthorized charge on my credit card for $100.00, then I got a voice mail from someone at the Motel stating that if I did not come down to pay them an ADDITIONAL $350 they were going to call the police, the best part of that voice mail is when the women said "We know where you live. " She was trying to threaten and intimidate me into giving them money for something I did not do. They said in the voice mail that I smoked in the room, I don't even smoke so how would that have happened? The second issue is they are saying blood EVERYWHERE was the word they used, including on the walls, towels, and bedspreads. That one just doesn't make any sense. I have sent them an email in regards to getting my $100 they illegally took of my card back, and am waiting for a response. But here is what I think happened: As I was packing up my vehicle one of the housekeepers asked me if I was leaving I said yes and that I was going to bring the keys to the desk now. She said oh no, there is no need. She informed me that I could just leave the door ajar, and place the keys on the table by the door. No I followed her instructions to the letter. IF what they are saying is even TRUE, which after being threatened I am starting to doubt it. But someone must of gone into the room after I left and did whatever ro mess the place up, because when I left the room was actually quite clean.

Nice place to live with family. We stayed at this hotel for couple of day and we loved it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will be stay again at this place.

Absolutely disgusting! Our room had this dirty old green crusty carpet, that looked so gross, my boyfriend and I refused to go barefoot. There was brown liquid dried up dripping from the bathroom doornob, pee dried up on the side of the toilet, a fabric shower curtain that was missing hooks and was dangling to try and touch you the whole time you showered, and all of the furniture was rustic in that not so charming way. The bed was one step away from bedbugs, very springy, they had a sheet on top of the comforter and under it, but you could see the actual thing inside was dirty. We slept completely clothed from head to toe. The only reason we staid is because everywhere else was booked because it was Valentine's Day weekend and we thought it was a good training experience for our trip to South America in two weeks. On a similar note, the restaurant had surprisingly good food, but the bartender used her hands to put ice in the cups, deal with money, wipe the foam out of beers, wipe down the counter and only rinsed her hands with water, no soap. Everyone that worked there was really nice though. Oh yeah, and it was expensive for something that you would picture out of a truck drivers worst places to stay list.

I just spent 50 Dollars for my 2 kids and fiancee to go to the spa for 1 hour! It was not clean, they advertise a hot tub, which there was not one at all. The steam room smelled of chemicals and there was black mold all over the sides of the pool. I will never ever go back there.

Very bad hotel. The pictures are misleading. Breakfast succinct. I do not recommend it at all.

Clean, quiet, recently renovated. The pool and spa area are nice. Staff is friendly. There are new owners and they seem to be responsive. The restaurant does close a bit early.

Horrible experiance there was a marijuana joint in the room, no phone signal, no iron the lady at the front desk kept us waiting for an hour before we called back and told them it was wrong to keep us waiting. Ghetto trash heap.

I stayed at the Colonial Motel on the weekend of July 19th with no reservation. When I arrived there were still some rooms available and was able to choose which one I preferred. The lady at the front desk was very nice and polite. The room I choose was clean and a good size for the price, especially since I was just there to sleep. Upon leaving there was a different lady at the front desk and she was rude. Continental breakfast ends at 10:30, we checked out about 10:40. The lady had a fit about taking out some muffin for some other guests and I. I understand we were a bit late but she didn't have to be so rude. Only down fall was that I had no cell phone service with AT&T there.

Extremely friendly desk girl who offered us ideas and directions to local attractions. The room was spacious and bright. We had a fabulous dinner in The Tavern restaurant with a scrumptious dessert to end it. I will definately be back.
