The best place on the Cape!

We had our wedding there this past weekend and it couldn't have been better. The suite was gorgeous and the ceremony (performed by Jill) was wonderful. Highly recommended!

The attention to detail at this magnificent lodging is second to none. The unique antiquities that fill the lobby as well as the fun pieces like the popcorn maker in the library make this Inn quite memorable. The enclosed porch for breakfast and tea is so charming. The grounds, as well, are meticulous, and, the gazebo, that sits facing the Inn feels reminiscent of a country home! Love this place!

My husband and I were eloped at the Captians House Inn and it was such an amazing experience. Jill the Inn Keeper handled everything as promised and made our elopement a day we will never forget. The grounds are beautiful and the attention to detail throughout are more than we could have asked for.

Wonderful, friendly Inn which offers more than just B&b. Wine hour from 5-6pm is great fun with popcorn and a great opportunity to meet other guests. The 16 rooms are all unique and beautifully decorated with everything you could wish for provided. Breakfast is varied and has 2 different cooked options every morning. Home made cake/bread and jam. Walking distance to beautiful Chatham and a pool make it the most wonderful place to stay. The staff really make it special as they are so welcoming and helpful. We will definitely go back. 5 stars.

This is an amazing place with an amazing staff in Chatham… convenient to everywhere. Pool, fitness center, shaded patios, great food, snacks and beverages. Highly Recommended!

This is without question the best Bed and Breakfast we have ever enjoyed visiting. Jill and James Meyer have transformed a beautiful classic estate into an exquisite retreat and have created a cozy resort that rivals the best luxury hotels in service and comfort. Gourmet breakfasts are served daily that will tantalize the palate. The Jamaican housekeeping staff keep the rooms immaculate and hospitality is graciously extended by a team of young British interns who are attentive to every detail.

We just had 3 great days at the Captain's Inn. The attention to details is probably why this stands out as one of the best Inn-experiences we've had. Thanks!

Hirum Harding room was perfect! Literally just as published! Couldn't have been more perfect to have celebrated my partners 50th! Breakfast was to die for! Eggs Italiano! Recommendations for dinner to Del Mar Bar and Bistro was 5 stars all the way. The bed linens, bath robes, snacks in the room and ambiance is off the charts! The staff is truly the center jewel in this crown! We will be back, sooner than later!

This is our 3rd year staying at the Captains House Inn. We absolutely love it here. Every room is unique and beautiful. The staff is so attentive and sweet. I would recommend High Tea, it was scrumptious! This is our choice when staying on the Cape summer or winter!

The Captain's House Inn is incredible. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous! The complimentary afternoon tea, evening snacks, and gourmet breakfast are delicious. And if that wasn't enough, the innkeeper and staff made our stay extraordinary. The combination of luxurious accommodations and fantastic service made our stay at the Captain's House Inn one of the best trips we've ever taken — if I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I would!

The photos did not do the room justice. The breakfasts were amazing and afternoon tea was relaxing. The staff were all amazing. I was even foolish enough to forget a box a valuables which have since been found and shipped back to me. Kind and trustworthy staff. Can't wait to return.

My daughter and I came for high tea and had a wonderful time! The decor was warm and welcoming and the tea delicious. The finger sandwiches and scones were wonderful. I would highly recommend going and enjoying this experience. My daughter and I will be making this a holiday tradition!

We spent our wedding anniversary here years ago and came back this October for our 10th anniversary. I am so glad we decided to stay here again. This is the perfect spot to relax and be pampered for parents to multiple little ones. We took advantage of every opportunity to have coffee and tea brought to our room and enjoyed multiple cream teas throughout our stay. The staff is so friendly and accommodating and the innkeepers leave nothing overlooked. They provide so many little and big amenities that just make your stay so perfect. The inn is located just outside of the beautiful town of Chatham, within walking distance if you like a nice little stroll in the morning or evening. There are so many wonderful things to do and see all within a short drive and plenty of wonderful restaurants to treat yourself to in the evening. The chef prepares a gourmet breakfast each morning and the breakfast room and gardens are beautiful and relaxing. They have thought of everything. It may be a while before we can escape from the children again, but we will be back!

We have stayed at The Captain's House Inn two times. Each stay has been perfect. The rooms are so comfortable and quaint with tons of attention paid to every last detail. The inn offers so many little amenities, coffee makers in your room, snacks that they replenish twice a day, complimentary turn down service, coffee and/or tea service in your room, a lovely pool and fitness room, beautiful gardens, complimentary high tea every day and of course the gourmet breakfast each morning. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The owners have really put their hearts into creating the perfect getaway in the most beautiful Cape Cod town. The location cannot be beat. Just a quick walk into Chatham, or over to Chatham beach. Monomoy Wildlife Refuge is a 5 minute drive and plenty of delightful restaurants are either in town or a short drive away. If you are looking for a relaxing and pampered escape up on the Cape, then this is the place. We will be back for a third visit, for sure!

We have stayed here once before about 8 years ago and loved it. We have returned for or tenth anniversary because we love the atmosphere, area, staff, food and service. The food each morning is always wonderfully prepared and the staff is immensely courteous and helpful. The rooms are clean and beautiful and each morning you can get coffee and tea brought to your room along with breakfast if you wish. The grounds are also very charming and extremely well kept with trees, flowers, gazebos, and lots of outdoor seating to read and enjoy the weather. The doing and restaurants of Chatham are within walking distance and the town is very charming as well. If you're looking for a quite inn to stay at, with great food and service, I highly recommend you look at this one.

This place is just beautiful. A lovely English country garden feel with an exceptional pool area. So many little extras that makes this one of the best places I have ever stayed in. Could not give it any less than 5 stars. Rooms are quaint, cosy and very clean. Many choices available for breakfast which can be had in the stunning gardens if the weather is nice. Complimentary afternoon tea was the best and the interns working there are a credit to this establishment. There is also a gym for those who wish to work out. Fabulous place! I will definitely be back in the future.

We have been going for afternoon high tea for the last few years. Delicious. You have to make reservations for the tea but you don't have to be a guest at the inn.

Absolutely charming! We are still here (day 3) and never want to leave. The service, breakfasts, rooms, grounds … everything is absolutely perfect! We definitely plan to come back!

This place is awesome. The breakfast is wonderful, always an awesome selection. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My wife and myself loved it here. We were so relaxed and really enjoyed ourselves. The inn keepers are awesome they are very nice people and are very laid back. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay in cape cod with a wonderful breakfast in the morning this is it. We stayed in 2 different rooms and we loved them both lots of room. They have options to have flowers and cheese and wine and fruits in the room when you arrive. I really recommend it. We drove 19 hours to visit and we will be back!

This place is amazing. The rooms are wonderful plenty of room! The breakfast in the morning always left me wanting more it was great. They give you a menu to choose from. My wife and always got one one or the other so we could try both and we were never disappointed. Everyone here is extremely nice. The inn keepers here are awesome as well they make you really feel at home. If you ever have questions about where to go to have fun they will give you answers or they will go find it for you. They are so laid back here its really stress free. They have afternoon tea with snacks as well and trust me the dining room is so peaceful. They really take care of the property and keep it clean and beautiful. My wife and I will be back we drove 19 hours to come here and we both agreed we will have no problem driving back to stay here. If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax this is it.

Amazing time visiting for a family wedding. Staff is very friendly and very attentive. My wife has celiac disease and they have bent over backwards to make sure she feels included in meals, tea times, and at the nightly coffee bar. The location is fantastic and within walking/biking distance to nearly everything in town.

Awesome place, a true home away from home! We stayed in the Carriage house and enjoyed every second! The breakfast is delicious and the chef can also cook to order stuff that he has ingredients for even if those dishes are not on the menu. The room was incredibly comfortable and warm, and I really appreciated all the details and complimentary things! One piece of advice I have for the owners is to try to fix the doors that don't close well and to insulate the house further to prevent huge losses of heat in the winter; it will lower their energy costs and be better for the environment. All in all, I think the staff did a great job and we will certainly return!

We stayed in the Lady Hope room which was wonderful. Very roomy and comfortable with lots of light and privacy. The staff is very helpful and always available whenever you need anything. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and served in a sun room looking out on the garden. This trip was the most relaxing experience my husband and I have had in years and well worth every penny.

The room was nice, classic furnishings. The staff were excellent, very courteous and proper. I recommend coming here.

We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before and we weren't sure what to expect. This place is fantastic. Besides the delicious breakfast they offer afternoon tea and evening coffee with treats every night. I thought I would feel intrusive being in a stranger's home but the staff makes you feel like family from the moment you arrive. The innkeepers are very nice and hands on. We had left some belongings in our room and they had them shipped back to us within days of getting home!

If only there were six stars to give! Perfect. I have eaten some of the best breakfasts of my life, been brought a tray of piping hot good coffee and cream on order when I woke, met with truly gracious and warm hospitality on the part of every member of the staff, been exquisitely catered to, deeply relaxed in my beautifully-appointed room in front of the fire, and determined to return on our anniversaries. Met with chilled champagne, just because they knew it was our honeymoon. Gardens awakening in April, off-season rates not much more than I'd pay for an ugly commercial room with no service. One feels like an honored family friend, and the other guests, in this atmosphere, behave as if part of that family.

The Captain's House Inn in Chatham, MA is every bit as good as it looks on their website. It's an historic inn with spacious grounds, in a convenient location, run very much hands-on by Jill and James, a charming couple who ensure that every guest's needs are catered for. The Inn makes an ideal base from which to explore the eastern Cape and there are plenty of local attractions if you just want to spend a few days relaxing. The fish pier is a few minutes walk away, with the fishing fleet returning most afternoons. The town centre is close by, with several good seafood restaurants and a variety of shops. The Inn offers very attentive and friendly service from a resident team of well-trained English students on a year-long catering and hospitality placement. And the breakfasts (and afternoon teas) are splendid, served in the bright and cheerful conservatory. We enjoyed every minute of our five-night visit and would certainly recommend The Captain's House Inn as a great place to stay on Cape Cod.

The service is incredible! We always stay in the Lady Mariah room for our anniversary. Breakfast is absolutely delicious, and we always upgrade to the high tea instead of the regular afternoon tea they serve. It's well worth the extra money.

My husband and I stayed here in August 2009. The setting and atmosphere were gorgeous and SO relaxing. Though we stayed in the smallest room, the Garden room, it was pretty, clean and very comfortable with a great shower. The innkeepers really strive to anticipate your every need, and you will definitely feel pampered. The pool was immaculately clean and the breakfast room is beautiful. The only thing keeping the inn from absolute perfection in my opinion is that the breakfasts are a bit too light and dainty for me. I already give the inn an A+. A heartier breakfast would make it an A++++.

My wife and I are always cautious about booking accomodation from web sites, however, this Inn was exactly as described, The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Jill the Inn Keeper was excellent and recomending and booking places to eat and see. It is an easy walk to town. The grounds are well kept and the breakfasts are great. We travelled back on the Queen Mary II and the Captains House Inn's breakfasts were better. We would use this place again.
