Great food, can't beat the location and the staff was excellent. Danny was our server and he was awesome. Jonah also helped us out while we were there equally as great as Danny. Highly recommend for a nice waterside meal.

This is my second 7 day visit and I plan to return again and again. The service is outstanding and the food is wonderful. My 4 star is only due to the fact that improvement should always be strived for. After reading some of the other reviews I wonder if anyone actually reads the hotel description on their website. It clearly states that it is Victorian in style (i. E. Dated) and clearly stated that there is no ac and that there are shared bathrooms. So in my opinion no one should be writing a poor review based on these factors.

We had drinks at their deck bar that looks over one of the public beaches. Pleasant, relaxing view on a Sunday afternoon. It was also nice to be able to walk through the historic Victorian lobby which had the feel of being in what must have been luxury back in the early 1900s.

We love sitting on the open deck in the afternoons. Good food and nice wait staff.

We had a nice time on the deck for brunch. There's a great view of the ocean and the food and drinks were good. The staff were all pleasant and attentive.

Enjoyed the old structure and decor. Their outdoor patio dining has probably the best view of any BI restaurant. Food was good.

Great food. Awesome scenery. The moon came up and then it went down. Got the recipe for the mudslide ice cream drink!

Olllllldddddd, but a fine place to stay if you don't mind quirkiness — as in teeny tiny rooms, sharing the bathrooms, and teeny beds. But the location is awesome! I loved it.

The room itself seemed clean, location was great… Was excited about being given a room with a balcony, until we saw it was directly outside our window where people could sit (which meant "ocean view" was more of an ocean glimpse because other hotel patron's heads were blocking our window. After a couple hours of being in the room with people 6 inches from the window, and being able to hear everything they said and did, we decided to check out. There was absolutely no privacy unless you kept your window closed with the shades drawn. No AC made that an impossibility unless you enjoy sleeping in a 90 degree room. Room itself was incredibly dated, sink was rusty, and the "lock" on our door which connected to a STRANGER's room, was broken so anybody could have walked into our room at any time. Definitely will not be back.

My girlfriend and I were on the island for a couple of days so we decided to go for breakfast one morning because of the views. Breakfast menu was sweet and simple and breakfast was good. The views are great, especially with a cup of coffee and a few eggs.

Stopped in for breakfast. Food was very good but service was very subpar.

Excellent service, very good choice of wines and refined dishes. Highly recommended even if the price is high.

The Surf has the best views on the island, especially for sunset. It is cozy and conveniently located near all the downtown businesses and the ferry.

Great view of ocean from deck while dining and friendly staff. Rusty, our Shiba Inu, gives it two paws up.

Like stepping back in time to simpler days. Great beach views in the rooms and from the balcony where there is a bar. Love the over sized chess board in a window with ocean view and vintage piano for visitors to play.

Restaurant is overpriced. Food is nothing special, but the waterfront view is nice. Service is ok, but you may be asked to leave if you linger too long on a busy day.
